Received today, blind-buy on eBay after reading the description and reviews here… gift set of powder and edp.
Exactly what I love in a perfume and blended perfectly.
    10/10

Just got my bottle in from a reputable on-line dealer. It is the Cover Girl version. I haven’t worn it for long enough to give a review, yet, except to say I think either my bottle has gone off or my scent memory is totally wrong. I will update in a few days.
UPDATE: The Top notes have definitely gone off as the initial dab is almost pure alcohol; however, the mid notes to the drydown is a very enjoyable wear. I guess I can’t truly remember what Incognito smelled like when it first came out, even though I had a bottle, because the scent isn’t jogging any memories.
This is one scent where I feel the votes on notes are correct. Incense, balsamic notes, sweetened with honey but not a sweet perfume. This is spicy but not in a loud, dramatic way. It wears fairly close to my skin by the third hour. Reminds me vaguely of the original Poison, Opium, etc. Easily wearable and not dated at all.

Not a bad mix of elements, although I was definitely hoping for more woodsiness. And whatever else you are while wearing this, ‘incognito’ is not what you’ll be. (It’s a pretty strong perfume.)

Well, Well, I was only 12.
Before I found Giorgio Wings, before my first trip to Paris and its perfumed avenues, Incognito marked the early beginning of my fragrant obsessions.
I knew I was different even back then.
When every pre-teen was dousing themselves in Impulse, Love’s Baby Soft and Body Fantasies sprays, I was wearing Incognito.
I had a box set with the 1.7 fl.oz. spray and tiny mini dab on.
I knew then, that I was an old soul, a worldly woman to be, olden and golden in my trying young age.
Even today, a decade later, my feelings for Incognito haven’t changed.
Everything from the scent of honeyed carnation to the malachite green cap and resin hued liquid are me.
The name itself speaks of my personality:
    I-Incognito
    N-Never Within Reach
    C-Camouflage, Chameleon
    O-Of Another Universe
    G-Glamourous
    N-Not of This Earth
    I-Instinctual
    T-Timeless
    O-Out of This World

lovely spicy oriental like Rumba but not as overpowering; woody and honeyed

The juice is strong! Incognito by Dana. Vintage. I have a small vintage wrist dropper bottle that im gifting to a friend soon. So strong, off putting at first, drys down into…a 1990s wealthy woman type perfume…very similar to coco by chanel. The dry down is nice but its not my type of scent. It also reminds me of a vintage calvin klein, but i forgot the name. Warm, femme, spice, rose, powder… i dont remember how its supposed to smell, but being a vintage its made with natural scents (not synthetics) so it should have a long shelf life.

I tried this on today and kept wondering what it reminded me of… Thanks to other commenters I realized it’s Coco by Chanel! This is much less ambery/balsamic than aldehyde-y on me. I also get a lot of those skanky florals (ylang ylang and jasmine). Old school and expensive smelling. Incognito is definitely worth a try if you enjoy classic fragrances.

Incognito is a very warm, spicy fragrance. Amber is strong and sweet, gentle incense and cinnamon are noticeable and well blended. Civet is noticeable at first spray, but moves quickly to the background, fading, blending softly with all other ingredients. Honey , florals and soft rich sweet musk add a mellow feeling, mixed together beautifully. Within one hour, Incognito becomes sweet, soft, spicy, warm, wearing close to skin with a soft trail.
Lasts about 8 hours on my skin, office appropriate, not loud. Beautiful in Fall and Winter.
Incognito is similar to Frances Denney Interlude, but not quite as sweet. Incognito is deeper, warmer.

Incognito is deep, smoky, and animalic. To me, it’s the ’90s version of dark & rich seductress classics like Tabu or Lanvin’s ‘My Sin’. It’s thick, heavy, and almost ‘skunky’ in its initial pungeant blast – which was, admittedly, quite offputting to me at first. But then the incense and resins start shining through after it has time to settle down on your skin a while.
Here, the florals aren’t pretty or nice, they’re dirty, real and earthy rather than synthetic, feminine, or fresh. It’s an interesting name for a fragrance, too.. perhaps this is the scent to use to help transform you into someone more daring and confident. It’s not at all meant for someone timid like myself!

I had forgotten all about this fragrance! While perusing eBay, I saw the odd shaped bottle and flashed back to a Christmas many moons ago when I received a miniature of this in a gift set! Had to buy a bottle just for the nostalgia.

Just had my ebay buy delivered. 50 mls for under £25. Bargain! And what a lovely perfume. Its like a spicier version of Design by Paul Sebastian. Very happy with this. Can work in all weathers I think.

I bought this on Ebay because members seemed to think that it smelled like my beloved Nokomis.
    It does not.
It is very loud and some scent that does not appeal to me at all.
I just put it on my hand and felt like I could never get it washed off.

One of the best spicy floriental I have ever smelled!! I remember this scent and had it 1992 I was a junior in highschool.
I remember this being a heavy scent and I did apply it lightly and OMG the lasting power was insane! I could put this on at 7am and still smell hours later like at 9pm!
I was so disappointed when this was gone.

This is a lovely little scent. It is elegant in a way that it seems like it should have come from the days of Coco Chanel or Shalimar. But it came out in 1992.
It is a true floriental. Spicey and warm with notes of floral, wood and lightly citrus. It has an animal in it, in the civet but well hidden as an animal should be. (I have learned not to be heavy handed at first with these florientals as their silage and longevity tend to be big and the civet can run wild in large doses)
I did not like the initial hit/opening but I was patient and in about 10 minutes it’s fever started to go down and the different notes came thru in pretty layers. It finishes with warm, soft amber and something like honey and vanilla on me.
I never let a price of cologne influence. Some of the niche, expensive scents smell like detergent mixed with urine to me. A snob might not even this because it is inexpensive but they would be missing out on an opportunity to take a quite walk down a sweet sexy scent road for a day.
I like it… I will use it from time to time. It’s a mood scent for me.

I miss this one a lot! I wore this in secret because I knew it was too adult for me to wear in public. It was probably the first spicy fragrance I ever fell in love with.

Oh how I miss this spicy floriental gem of a scent! Why it was discontinued makes me scratch my head in disbelief. It is powdery, soft & strong without being loud and possesses a depth that is way beyond the reasonable drug store price point it sold at.
It’s true that the florals, spices and vanilla that grounds the scent made it seem more like a Coco Chanel flanker than Dana/Coty $12.00 goodie.
Grab it if you come across some…it is difficult to find.
    🙂
    Cheers!

Incognito reminds me most definately of a different take on the Chanel classic, Coco. It also bears a resemblance to several other floral and patchouli florientals of the era!
I will doubtless be outvoted, but my impression still lingers strongly on it’s similarity to Coco. Coco has an apple cider undertone ( to my nose ) that Incongnito lacks; in other respects these are estranged sisters. While Coco is primarily about rose, Incognito focuses on orange blossom perfectly blended with other flowers, including rose.
I refuse to judge this juice by it’s cheap little bottle, just as I respectfully doubt the wisdom of judging a person by the quality of their clothing. Repackaged, Incognito would most certainly impress most floriental lovers. Some of us should test her blindfolded!
I have great respect for any drugstore classic which can hold it’s own against Chanel, as this humble scent demonstrates. If your chemistry meshes with Incognito, you’ll be wearing a BEAUTY ……. in disguise.

Just got a small bottle of this on eBay for less than $5. So far I’m really happy with it. Nothing offensive about it (on me) and honestly smells slighly unisex. The dry-down is a bit powdery, so that’s the only reason I think it works best on women. I would call this a “professional woman” smell. A little dab on the wrists will do ya… don’t go spraying this willy nilly or you’ll give yourself a headache.

I remember when i first tried this back in the early 90’s. It is a really good fragrance that is really sweet, compelling and different but very 90’s as it is loud and in your face but very feminine..i use up my whole miniture sample quickly..i am surprised i never repurchased a full bottle but i was young when i tried it…good memories 🙂

The Cover Girl and Noxell versions are still on Ebay – brand new gift sets containing cologne and a tiny bottle of perfume. Just do a search on Incognito Cover Girl and you will be amazed by how many will show up.
Of course there are also lots of bottles by Dana too. However, there are no Dana Incognito gift sets.

My opinion could change, but I think I hate this. I remember the Noxell/Cover Girl version being much less bathroom-like but also I owned this at a time when public restrooms had less of the chemical advances they have today.
I have hated fragrances for months before they “clicked” with my chemistry before. But this makes me curious if I am just craving a different incarnation of this. Or I was young (literally a child), unsophisticated and didn’t mind smelling like a rest stop bathroom. Time will tell.
EDIT: I got the Noxell/Cover Girl version on ebay and now I remember, it has become my opinion is that Dana is like a hospice for good cheap perfume to go to die.

Incognito is a spicy floriental that starts out a bit loud and obnoxious in the top notes, not sure what it is, probably the brazilian rosewood. At this point, I had to look up the perfume to make sure it was a women’s perfume. The heart is heavy spicy florals, amber, and honey. Then it dries down nice, smooth, and sweet, probably due to the benzoin.
I would not wear this today at my age, and heavy florientals are not my thing anyway, but I could totally see myself as a teen wearing this…feeling all sexy and grown up. This one is so inexpensive online anyone who loves big strong florientals might as well try this. If it happens to be your thing, then you’re in luck and can stock up. As far as whether it smells like a drug store cheapie, well, it’s a matter of opinion. I think it’s of decent quality…at least it has a lot of notes…but because of the loud aspect, it does not seem sophisticated either. If a woman who carries herself well wears this, then it may work out nicely.
From what I’ve read, it was launched in 1992 by Cover Girl, and I believe my mini is from the 90s. I’m on a sniffing rampage, trying to test as many perfumes as I can, and this is the first time I’ve come across this. The photo above shows that it’s by Dana. I don’t know if they’ve changed the formula after acquiring it.
The longevity is very good considering it’s a cologne. It’s been 5 hours and I can still smell it on my wrist, though it’s getting quite faint now.

I’d love to smell this too!I didn’t have any perfume lovers in my family to borrow from, so i was relegated to the mediocre dregs at the drug store.( Of course, there were a few gems hidden away in the plastic shells.) This was one of the first that I actually saved up to buy; maybe I was 13 or 14.I’m sure this was pleasant and though I believe my taste in scents has evolved a little over time, those types of fragrances were unpretentious and always friendlier than today’s lot.:)

I remember this! What a throwback to my Jr. days when it first came out. I remeber liking it then, and by looking at the notes, now I see why. Its notes are reminiscent of the scents that I like most. Wish I could get a whiff of this again.

This reminds me of the year I went off to college. I received this for my 18th birthday, I think. My mom thought it was scandalous. 😉 It went well with the cold nights in northern CA. There was a lot of warmth, but something crisp as well. Wish I could smell this again…

I am so surprised to see this here.My best friend in 8th grade use to wear this & I loved it on her.I would actually love to smell it again.I remember the honey & cinnamon as well as the musk & some floral notes.I never did buy any of my own although I thought about it.After trying it in the store on myself I nixed that idea.I still loved it on her though. She was a sexy tiny loud mouthed comedian with red hair & it fit her well.
