I guess I don’t like frankincense much. This is way nicer than the frankincense EO I bought a while back — what a mistake that was, too herbal/medicinal for me — but it’s not a scent that I reach for.

Beautiful woody incense, austere and dark. It reminds me of Amouage Epic Man, which has a strong incense note as well, though this one is far less complex and not so brash. I don’t think I’d wear this though except as something to occasionally enjoy at home.

I got a decant/sample from this house a year ago and I am quite sure that it was Incense Flash and I really liked it. I remember that there was some animalic note in there which was quite dominant and it was awsome. Last week I bought a 30ml bottle of this and the smell is very different I can tell. In this bottle, all I get is woody notes and incense, just as the name says. Either I am mistaken or there is something strange with this bottle. I will definitely check my decant/sample again when I visit my parents’ house to see why I am confused. I layer it on some rose oil to make it a bit more alive and enjoyable.

Directly after spraying I got a mixture of incense and new asphalt. The drydown reminds me of cold leather and rubber, like a new car tyre. Awesome quality. I like it a lot.

This is a superb fragrance. The incense in this is excellent – cold and dark – but I particularly like the leather and woods that accompany it. I have to admit, it is a bit austere for me to wear by itself (as a blue-eyed, peachy-cheeked woman), although not impossible, but I loved it best with a spray of Rose Flash to off-set the cold notes.
This series is so much more than its name and packaging. Really great scents of fantastic quality.

First spray of this blind buy……woody smoke, not incense like Avignon. Do not expect churchy incense. It stays woody smoke for about 20 wonderful minutes. That’s the flash. Then it morphs into a softer smoke mixed with leather(?). Finally it dries down, in about an hour, to this orange bitter scent. That’s the warm spicy listed in the notes. Not a bad fragrance, but one not to toy with. This has real “off-putting” potential, given certain climates. But yet, perfect for winter. A must try before you buy perfume.

I own, like most of you, quite a bit of perfume, and I’m on my third bottle of incense flash, which is quite a feat for me, personally.
I’m also a massive fan of incense based fragrance. The churchy type stuff.
First spray, I get that. . And maybe for the first 10-15 minutes after that.
    Resinous, dry and smokey
After that, it turns into leather. Leather leather leather! As a very knowledgeable user below said, it should have been called leather flash.
The projection on me, personally is enormous. I love it.
If you’re just getting into niche perfumes, I’d start with anything from the flash series. Excellent price point and really good quality. Thanks andy tauer, for another winner.

A simple nice incense that gets you a lot of compliments. Projection and sillage are good and the whole feel is very classy and clean.

A simple smoke with a touch of amber. I don’t get leather but then I rarely “get” leather. My closest references to this are Beaufort London frags and tbh if (when?) I’m buying something close to 90% smoke I’ll probably go there rather than here, but this Tauerville flash is pretty good too if just a bit flat.

Minimalist, casual, earthy incense. I like this a lot. It is most similar to Tauer’s Incense Extreme from the main line: they both have a warm, dry, glow-y atmosphere, that evokes dry sandy deserts rather than the damp stone churches of some incense fragrances. But if Incense Extreme is an earthy relaxed incense, this takes that vibe even further with its stripped down casual nature. The leather adds a very slight edge, but overall this is a gorgeous lived-in and liveable fragrance that is totally unpretentious.

It is a veil of salty, aqueous notes with a backdrop of deep dry incense and woody leather. I love it. There is no church in this incense it is all salty zen skin that reminds me of nights on the beach around a fire. Sillage is medium and longevity above average.

This is simple and nice. No, it is not going to “dazzle your senses” but it isn’t meant to – this line is called “Flash” for a reason.
It’s probably obvious that the pyramid is shallow on this one – ok…but since when has that kept anyone from spending a car payment on a bottle? Is it made from the most spendy materials? No! Does it smell like an elixir from heaven? Not really.
Here is what it IS: A believable incense. There are many types of incense, and this smells true to an incense that is familiar to me. I like it. Therefore I’m offering it a “positive”. I enjoy fragrances that are complex as well as simple. This is a well-priced, easy to wear incense.
    Great Job, Mr. Tauer!

woody, fir incense; dry cedar; reminds of Boadicea without the punch and sweetness

    Scent – dry woody incense.
Season/Time of Day – I prefer to use this one in the colder months, day or night.
    Projection – I didn’t get noticed, I didn’t get a compliment.
    Longevity – I get 24hrs consistently.

Incense is a note with titanic proportions, pretty much like vetiver. It also is a multifaceted material with hints of citrus and evocative of smoke (through its primarily use). I love incense and own many compositions, others more minimal others more plethoric. Incense flash is of the former type. Tauer utilizes an accord of high grade frankincense, dry woods and ambroxan. The scent opens with incense and features mostly the dry vein and character of this material feeling very crisp and piney. Then comes the brilliant ambroxan which pairs ideally with the incense providing an ambery, musky (salty skin like) warmth for a surprisingly ultralong-lasting and greatly distinctive drydown.
Tauer is certainly one the most charismatic perfumers of the new age. His L’Air du Desert Marocain proves this beyond doubt. Incense Flash is simple (not simplistic) but ingenious, very classy and goes on forever. Frankly after testing and owning many incenses I was a bit disappointed with the lack of novelty throughout the genre. Incense Flash is the best incense fragrance I have tested in years. Not in the league of Bois D’Encens since it lacks its complexity and nuance but the most brilliant Tauer I have come across since LAdDM and certainly full bottle worthy. Excellent work.

I was pleased at first with the quality/affordability component of this fragrance. This was my first purchase from Tauer’s second mini-series.
I got an easy going incense leathery vibe drowned out massively by the musk. It was pleasant enough for me but due to my preference for something full bodied, I had to sadly let go of it. I wish the incense and leather were stronger here so naturally I felt that there was something missing…
I feel that the Tauerville series would make a great introduction for those who are just starting their niche journey. This is niche for the novice at a very affordable price.

I just this morning received a NIB bottle of Tauerville Incense Flash and I am blown away by it’s beautiful smokey Incense and leather vibe. One spray to each pulse point over 4 hours ago and it is still projecting beautifully. Incense Flash is reminiscent of a Catholic Mass in an older monastery with it’s fragrant rustic wooden pews padded with genuine leather and the lingering aroma of incense burning in the near distance. It reminds me of my trip to the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Monastery in Madrid Spain. I must say BRAVO to Mr. Andy Tauer, Bravo!

YES. This hooked me from the first sniff. Online info says it’s heavy on the leather, and I do like leather fragrances, but what’s funny is I only notice a little leather in this. I notice much more smoke, in a beautiful desert-campfire way (one of my absolute favorite types of smoke), and of course frankincense. Lots and lots of dry, fabulous frankincense. Tauer, you are so good at this kind of thing. Full marks.

Something made me think this was going to be a very lovely but straight forward Olibanum/Galbanum, fresh, fizzy, green incense…I don’t know what gave me that impression because it has the classic signature of Andy Tauer daubed all over it.
There’s olibanum charm here for sure but Incense Flash is very dry, slightly dirty and full of dense woodsy character. This is kind of incense which possesses virtually no sweetness whatsoever. Like a dry amber accord, that old bookcase vibe but without the warmth and instead more oily with all the exotic charm of the Marrakesh markets he seems to cram into his scents.
This is very good and right up my street so many incense fragrances disappoint me, not by being bad just the same tired fragrance I’ve smelled a million times. Tauer has created an interesting resinous scent here, more in the style of L’ADDM or Lonestar memories than Incense extreme (which I found a bit dull) so credit to him.

I have a full bottle of this, but I have not worn it outside yet. I have sprayed it in on my skin just chilling in the house, but not out. Curious to see what this will be next year fall/winter.

Oh my God!!! This is a heavenly! After wearing Incense Flash slowly my mind recalling a beautiful memory of my dad! As far as the notes go I feel like sitting next to my dad, where he is reading his books with a half closed eyes in his very corner where warm wooden furniture bearing scent of originality in open nature and absorbing the smoke from frankincense.
Since I m a great fan of incense I am very happy for my blind buy. My skin smoothly absorbed the dry down.
    Longevity is moderate enough!

Honestly this is my favorite from the entire Tauerville line! If you are a fan of L’air du Desert Marocain you’re going to love this. Has a similar vibe with a little less sweetness and a bit more incense and wood. The leather note in this is amazing. This scent feels very cool and dark to me. There is a great calming quality to the scent, perfect for when one is in a tranquil mood or in need of some relaxation.

I deleted my previous review, because I really begin to like this stuff.
This one does not smell like iso e-super bomb, I guess it will be a good thing for some people.
Don’t let the opening fool you: I can smell something like a mold Roman church basement, and it really feels like patchouli, even if this note is not listed.
But the dry down will reward with one of the most beautiful incenses, very clean and refreshing.
It is much more refined than Tauer’s Incense Extreme.
It is long lasting but sillage is moderate.
I’m sure Tauer’s Flashes can be layered with each other, but they are beautiful on their own.
I love them all (Incense, Vanilla, Amber) but I didn’t try the Rose Flash.

I got this in my Olfactif sampler and fell in immediate love. It helps that I love dry, woody, smoky scents, and I’m a huge fan of all kinds of incense. It’s a fantastic and beguiling mix of eastern incenses and the woody incenses (I particularly smell piñon, palo santo and cedar) over smoky leather. It’s very long-lasting, which I love, and the sillage is enough to get me lots of compliments when I wear it.
If you don’t like smoke and incense, you will likely find this unpleasant. For me it’s heaven.

No matter how many missteps Tauer takes (in my opinion), I always appreciate his contributions to indie perfumes as well as his expertise in being an all-around nice guy. This, though, is shoddy as it’s barely even an accord, let alone a perfume. I doubt there are more than three items in this scent: an unedited cedar/incense extraction that smells somewhat dirty over a mild ambroxan-like base, and that’s about it. The concentration is very low, and it basically smells like a couple of raw materials thrown together on the fly. Pointless and not well done done, but priced fairly at least.

What came to my mind on first spray was Oud Imperial by Perris Monte Carlo. I have them side by side right now and its somewhat similar in the opening but the dry down is more woodsy and dryer than Oud Imperial. Oud Imperial has a sweeter vibe.
Dry down I smell mostly incense (frankincence), woodsie notes and a little leather.
I like it but it I wish it was more powerful. It seems to fade quickly and you really have to dig in deep to smell it.
Its not what I was expecting.

Incense Flash is another great entry from Tauerville, though admittedly my least favorite of the three, not because it is not executed well but because it simply isn’t a mix that I would be inclined to like as much as rose or vanilla. I get mostly smokiness with the incense, though there is a slight resinous quality to the fragrance through most of its life. The drydown isn’t especially different (i.e. sweet) so I’d say that the fragrance remains committed to the incense and smokiness throughout its lifespan. I do detect some other herbs and spices in the middle but only vaguely, as the incense (frankincense is a fair guess) dominates most of the other notes.
Incense Flash reminds me of A City on Fire by Imaginary Authors due to the prominence of the incense and smokiness. ACOF is slightly spicier in my recollection, but I can at least offer that if you like one, you’re likely to like the other.
Like its flash kin, a great value at $63 for 30ml. Projection and longevity are both strong–on par with Vanilla Flash, though not quite as much as Rose Flash, predictably.
I doubt I’d buy this one but it’s an interesting try if you’re a fan of incense.

Very disappointed with this fragrance was a blind buy and not a good one… there is no sweetness in this fragrance at all just a bitter smoky ash vibe will be selling my 30ml bottle for sure…
Don’t blind buy this scent always sample if you can… I wasn’t able to find a sample here in UK.

If you’re searching for a liturgical or “churchy” type of incense scent, I’d say this isn’t really it. Andy Tauer’s latest Flash offering is far more modern and industrial than that. I actually think this is more predominantly a leather based scent and I’d suggest that had it been called Leather Flash, no one would have raised an eyebrow. I get some olibanum and perhaps some benzoin resins, but they are subtle. There’s also a lovely cedar note that’s pervasive throughout the journey.
But what strikes me more here is this unusual take on a leather accord. It seems to be a similar iteration to that in Lonestar Memories. I also find a very similar take in the Comme des Garcons scents, Tar & Garage. More so the former as an overall scent, but that leather accord is very similar in both. It certainly shares a certain ‘plasticky’ note in the opening with Tar as well as that kind of futuristic, leather and grease, post industrial vibe found also in Lonestar Memories. There’s certainly no church in sight!
I think there seems to be a hint of styrax and perhaps even some subtle floral touches as well, perhaps it’s a little dry rose to balance out all the darkness? Maybe also some Jasmine? I find the journey fairly linear myself, which is certainly not a criticism. There’s some development there as that opening burns off and the scent mellows, but I get a similar tonality for the majority of the journey otherwise.
Overall it’s a very well balanced and intelligent perfume that is easy to wear and quite versatile. I find it lacks the usual projection we’ve come to know from Tauer scents, but it has extremely good longevity (as always). At this no-frills price point, for a niche offering, you’d be a fool not to snap this up! A great perfume at a sensible price. How refreshing!

Incense Flash opens dirty and smoky to my nose, not pleasant at first sniff . But, like all Tauers, you have to wait to see what develops. The fragrance warms up and in the first half hour it literally smells ‘hot’ like incense and wood on a little brazier in someone’s home. I like the scent at this point. It’s still deep, dark, spicy and smoky, but it smells purifying now, no longer dirty. I find myself drawn to it more and more. It’s like carrying a smoking censer in a religious service.
In the midphase heavy leather comes into the mix. It’s too dry and leathery for me at this point. It’s like the blessing and censing of the cavalry before battle with lots of leather boots, bridles and saddles in the mix. In the dry down the leather softens a bit and I smell myrrh and ambergris. I am not a huge myrrh fan, it’s too dry and often bitter for me. All in all a very good, well balanced strong incense and leather scent. If you like bitter, smoky and leathery this is for you. Well done but too much myrrh and leather for me to wear until it becomes a skin scent after a few hours.

Now this is interesting. As soon as I hit the trigger, I smell the cult favorite L’Air du Desert Marocain, or something so similar as to fool my nose for a few seconds. There is that incredible scent of cedar wood that we are already so familiar with in Tauer’s perfumes, tossed with an Arabian spice blend. Could be cumin, coriander, or both. I also sense dried herbs, maybe rosemary or sage, which lends a camphorous, sticky effect that weaves its way throughout the perfume.
Very quickly, as in 1-2 minutes, a prominent note of leather comes in, so you know this is not L’Air du Desert Marocain. We are still very much in the desert sands, but rather than than the scent of sand baking under the scorching sun, Incense Flash is more like Arabian riders on their horses, riding through the night on some sort of secret mission to invade some territory or kill someone or other. I don’t know what they are up to, but it can’t be good. I can picture the hot sands and the midnight blue sky with twinkling stars above. So beautiful and quiet but foreboding at the same time.
Black leather dominates the heart of the perfume, so much so that I forget this is supposed to be called Incense Flash, not Leather Flash.
The base is where I detect a prominent note of Boswellia (frankincense), reminding us that the Arabian desert is an ancient land with ancient traditions and rituals of worship. The leather begins to take on a subtle creaminess that is really nice. I like the top and the drydown best.
I think that lovers of L’Air du Desert Marocain who also love leather are going to swoon over this release. I think the main point to take away is that while L’Air du Desert Marocain dries down into sweet amber and woods, Incense Flash dries down into leather and bitter frankincense.
Sillage is medium and becomes closer to the skin after a few hours, but the perfume lasts many hours.
Andy Tauer does not tell us the notes, so it is up to the perfume worshipers to figure it out. Here is my totally subjective pyramid, based on what I smell:
    Rosemary
    Sage
    Cedar
    Amber
    Black leather
    Cumin
    White pepper
    Frankincense/Boswelia
