Description
ROADS of ASIA is a collection of 4 fragrances created in collaboration with a team of perfumers at Intertrade Group, leader in the International development of concepts for contemporary research perfumery.
“To launch a collection that authentically breathes the notes of the Asian world, which I personally deeply love, we decided to work solely with Asian perfumers,” explains Celso Fadelli, President and Fragrance Curator of Intertrade Group. “We thought that these talented artists would best interpret the brief, conveying a unique sensibility and taste, while giving coherence to the project. Every detail of this venture reveals a particular attention to the symbolism and culture of the Asian continent; from the colour of the bottle to the fragrances’ olfactory notes, names, and artistic images; all brought together by the sensibility of Danielle Ryan.”
This new collection interprets the cultural and artistic influences of the Asian continent. Every fragrance is inspired by a different country that is not directly disclosed, yet is underlying its theme, image, and olfactory composition. The perfume bottles are red, colour that in the Asian culture signifies joy, purity, life, sacredness, and prosperity.
In the Orient, red is the colour of a bride’s dress, while in China the “red knot” is passed on from generation to generation as a symbol of luck and protection against bad fates. In Japan it is the colour of sacredness, light, and completeness. The four fragrances are an olfactory reflection of the Orient’s traditions, without relinquishing their contemporary taste. Flower notes are their main protagonists: jasmine, popular since ancient times and used by many Chinese women as a hair ornament or for herbal infusions; peony, with its delicate and fresh accents, representing prosperity, joy, peace, health, and valour; roses and orange blossoms, which are common and vastly appreciated across the East. In India, women traditionally use a seductive ointment that contains rose and jasmine. Citrus fruits also stand out within the Asian olfactory world.
Despite common associations of these with the sun of the Mediterranean, citrus fruits originate from China and Japan, with interesting facets brought by delicate woods and spices. Danielle Ryan personally curated the choice of the four artworks for new ASIA edition, as she previously did for the other ROADS collections, CORE and AFRICA. These artworks are visually different, expressing the unique personality of each of the perfumes.
IMPROVED SILENCE – A calm and enveloping perfume that emulates a meditative sense and humans’ inner connection with themselves. Improved Silence conveys a patient and boundless state of reflection. A breath of fresh citrus fruits that melts into the calm of lavender and leads straight to its heart, which is based on a traditional timeless chord for perfumery, the marriage between rose and violet, revisited with a hint of almond milk. Its background notes include a reassuring melange of warm woods with delicate vanilla touches.
On its pack rests an artwork by June Katz, contemporary artist that incorporates different approaches, involving the development of technology, science, philosophy, and music. Katz draws her inspiration from life on our planet, particularly the way in which humans perceive nature, as well as how they treat their environment and each other.
Improved Silence was launched in 2018. The nose behind this fragrance is Julie Pluchet.
