Clean powdery basil with apple and a bit of mint.
Opens with generic and cheap notes, but after one hour it blends with skin and smells nice, a bit synthetic though. It’s not laud, but lasts long

The pyramid is pretty much spot on for this one. Strong mint and apple, almost overwhelmingly so (as another user noted) at first, but then it transitions into a green note and the basil and coriander really start to show. It eventually settles into a nice cashmere and patchouli.
It lives up to its name with the fact that it definitely a different scent from a lot of other colognes. I wouldn’t say its one of a kind, but its not called Hugo “one of a kind” so I’m not sure why people are so bent out of shape about the name. It is different…It can smell like other colognes but still be different from the majority of colognes.
Overall it is synthetic, it is fairly cheap, and the longevity and silage are very lacking on this frag. For these reasons, I don’t see myself buying a full bottle of this unless they kind find a way to fix the performance.

The blast of peppermint and apple in the beginning can be off-putting, sometimes it reminds me of toothpaste. But after the first 15 minutes, the mintiness finds its place, gives the whole composition a long-lasting freshness and balances out the overall sweetness, which is more towards vanilla than plain sugar. In that respect in reminds me a bit of Eros, but the base notes are much richer and well balanced, clean and comforting, as in clean sheets. Probably the cashmeran. This fragrance seems to have a mouthwatering effect on my girlfriend (I’m not kidding), although I don’t wear it very often, since it is a bit too sweet for being a versatile “workhorse”, and at the same time, it doesn’t come with an interesting “backstory”. But it’s a good scent nonetheless.

It smells balanced and well rounded, ladies really love this scent, it’s a compliment getter too for sure. It smells fruity and loud and the woody note is really nice, good for spring/summer night time, a clubbing frag. The silage isn’t great and the longevity is mediocre at best. It kind of reminds me of an upscale trendy skate shop at the mall. All in all it’s nice and I can tell some people will really like this but I’ve smelled so many unique frags that I wouldn’t put this in my top picks, just because it has a generic aura to it that isn’t different by any means. It has enough going on where some people will likely ask you what you’re wearing. And most importantly it is very safe to wear, especially for the younger crowd (under 35).

Just like the other Hugo fragrances: good, but not outstanding, synthetic, safe and has an average sillage/longevity. Opens with the same notes as Hugo Boss Hugo (green apple + mint without a lavender), then come a very weak but good heart notes, with the slighltly peppery freesia and a hint of basil. 1-1.5 hours laters I get only the base notes: a spicy-musky-woody cashmeran and patchouli. As I said, not a groundbreaking fragrance but pleasent, safe, and found it very versatile.
    – spring/summer/fall, day/night time scent, very versatile
    – sillage and longevity is bit over the average, longevity around 6 hours
    – safe blind buy

This one is my mans favourite, majority of the time he puts it on before work.
It’s fruity, woody, masculine & definitely aromatic. He sprayed 13 spritz this morning while I was standing right next to him. It isn’t a massive hit in the face, I think it’s perfect. Perfect enough that I stole a couple spritz myself 😀 we both enjoy this, work safe indeed. Nothing head ache inducing which is good. I think this is a well balanced perfume.
Longevity: 3 hours since spraying & it’s still going strong. I can positively say you’ll get a good 7 to 8 hours out of this 🙂

I really liked the smell but the performance was bad.
I appreciated it while I had it, but id never buy it myself

A light perfect summer scent. It’s fresh and green, with a nice subtle open scent. I get apples, cucumber, and fresh herbs on the front with a semi sweet yet kinda floral back end. I all around love this scent and it’s a very welcoming scent with a mild projection but decent longevity.

  11. :

We see similarities with the original (Hugo, 1995), but more modern and spicy. It’s a versatile scent, but it’s maybe not a good idea to use this in the heat. For young or mature people.
    Performance is good.
Overall, it’s smell good. More i use it, more i appreciate it. It’s a safe scent.

    (I) Just (wanted to be) Different.
Not a bad scent. But as for the title? Not so fitting. Shares a similar smell with many other cologne out there. Just different is implying a solid uniqueness to it, and it doesn’t quite hit that.
However, putting aside the name this scent is quite marvelous. It actually does have a slightly different twist than other similar colognes. It’s balanced and yet still emphasizes certain notes. The Mint, Apple and Patchouli stand out when focused on. It has an exciting, sexy aroma that makes for a pleasant atmosphere.
Very much a good fragrance. Longevity is great, it lasts me all day. And it projects very comfortably. Not too strong, but not too soft. Enough for girls to notice that there’s something “different” about you.
    Overall rating: 8.4/10

I’ve been using it since 2012. I love the spicy woody smells. It’s long last on my skin. If i applied it on the morning, the smell will be last until evening. My wife loves the smell so much. It’s perfect for me. It’s one of my collections.

  14. :

    4 out of 5

Light fresh and summery. The opening is a cold blast thanks to the mint, which is very well blended with the basil and woody notes and so doesn’t smell like toothpaste but manages to live up to it’s name, and just be different. It doesn’t last very long however, becomes ordinary on the drydown and the bottle does not suit it at all.

  15. :

    5 out of 5

The minty green apple scent on this one is allright but it goes away too quick. After an hour on me i can barely smell it anymore. Have worn this three times since i bought it, with the same result every time. If i overspray it will stay on for a little bit longer but still, the longevity is a joke. If you try it out, make sure you spray it on your skin to see how it performs on you, maybe you’re lucky and get better longevity then i did. I’m really disappointed with this, because the scent itself isn’t bad, nothing unique, but still ok. The poor longevity and average projection ruined it for me though.

Took a whiff of this at Kohls. It is a fairly agreeable and safe scent. Perhaps the tester was a little old (not too unimaginable at a store like that)…but this juice reminded me of the smell of Hemp lotions for men from The Body Shop. If the Body Shop made a EDT based on that scent, this would be it with a few tweaks. Minty..green.. I guess it kinda makes sense. It has a masculine, damp, semi-earthy/semi-sweet scent to it. Not a bad choice.

    Still, has very good smell.

Dynamic, young, versatile and very easy to wear, inoffensive, safe, friendly – just like most Boss fragrances.
    Perfect for ages 18-29.

  23. :

Wow..different. Talk about bad naming. This, unfortunately, bears the same dull specification such as monstrosities like Paco Rabanne’s Invictus in which all twenty something men are bathing in he moment (and forgetting to take an actual bath) and the probably soon to be discontinued Kouros Silver by YSL.
I don’t know how they manage bringing in that appalling sweaty not, but they really went for it here. I’d rather use air freshener.

I have completely opposite thoughts then previous reviever:) I cannot understand why people dont like it:) It is very good scent, much better than Hugo Red. Not generic at all. It is green, true 🙂

  26. :

Go buy it. You will regret it for the rest of Your life. Yes, at first sniff it is green. And even spicy. But after that, there is this weird greenish afterscent. Many people seem to like it, and I can’t really understand why? Must be something wrong with my nose 😉

at first,It has a fresh and sweet smell.
after several minutes the smell of mint combined with apple.
so in this moment you will feel bitter and aromatic and sweet scent
in this moment i remember ferrari black signature .
anyway it is soft and suitable for four seasons.
it is not special but it is good for a daily fragrance
    —————————————————————————————
    Black Signature
    هست .
در کل کار گرم و ملایمی هست – چهار فصله – اصلا خاص نیست – بعد از حدود نیم ساعت اون حس شاداب گیاهی هم محو میشه و فقط روایح شیرین رو احساس خواهید کرد

  29. :

    5 out of 5

Just different ? Are you kidding me ?
Synthetic (in a bad way), commercial, generic.
Plus the concept and bottle are recycled from an older campaign.
More than a flanker, a mimic of something that has been done and done and done an done…..
Come on, stop launching those crappy fragrances every six month….
Poor Jared Leto that has been so wrongly advised by his agent !

I bought this 2-3 months back and I think it is very nice. It is a lovely alternative to the usual aquatic, creamy citrus options usually pushed towards the male demographic. It has this wonderful green freshness from the apple, mint and basil, rounded out by a creamy softness that is not overly heavy. I think that it perfected the original by dealing with certain aspects I wasn’t so keen on. The original had an almost piercing freshness that could become overbearing, like a gin and tonic meets mint meets fir resin type smell which was probably due to a clash between some of the notes(like the grapefruit and lavender with the other floral notes). I really like green fragrances that are underlain by nice woods and earthy/resinous notes. This also dispenses with the musk which can frequently ruin the base of an otherwise great fragrance. Thumbs up from me.

A GEM, mysterious just like how it is bottled in a matt black bottle, you don’t know what to expect and it will surprise you good way. It smell very manly and pleasant and sexy at same time, can be worn any time and any occasion. Again this is another one in my collection that I can recommend for those who only want to have one cologne for all purpose(just like I used to). This is ONLY FRAGRANCE in my small collection that got me multiple complements after about 6 months of wearing, and they remembered it very well: (“what was that black bottle?”). It never failed to get me complement if I went to an indoor setting within 4 hours of spray. So I can conclude it is a hidden gem as I mentioned before, and underrated in my opinion, but I am “glad” the fact it is underrated, so it stays as UNIQUE as it is born to be, and YES it is different, and GOOD DIFFERENT.

one of my fovourites in absolute. very unique, i can recognize it between hundred of scent. the opening is fresh, then became a little bit warmer. this eau de toilette is very versatile, in my opinion it’s good for all the seasons, day and night. for young and adult people. good longevity and sillage. i think hugo boss can evolve this line, maybe a just different intense version could be very interesting.
ps i used the after shave lotion and it’s great.

Very disappointed with this one as I like a lot of Hugo Boss scents. It begins very strong and projects really well but dies down after about 2 hours on my skin, which is probably a good thing considering I found it too sweet and synthetic. The original is much better in my humble opinion. I really felt ripped off..
    Definitely try before you buy.

  36. :

It’s sad that Boss reached to the level of making too many perfumes and not even one of them is good. This isn’t even an average scent!

  37. :

    4 out of 5

Very sweet and fruity with a big patchouli note. It’s potent too but a bit sickly sweet. Nevertheless, a good boss addition.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

My review after almost 4+ years on this.
For a blind buy and new comer , it is a best bet because it has power and longevity of 10+ hours , which a new comer would always want.
For others , this one is same old thing which has been copied to so many perfumes (in 2010’s) like paco rabanne one million , armani code sport , invictus etc.
This is good but i wont buy another.
I already have said adieu to boss fragrance house long back because of mediocrity.
    Good bye

“Just different” – not so different
I have soon finised the bottle, and can say its okey nothing more.
Dry woody with a bit of fruity backround , very synthetic.
Im not impressed of Hugo Boss overall in the perfume market.

  46. :

    5 out of 5

Refreshing woody spicy scent. The first time Just Different superficially resembles Bleu de Chanel, due to the mint, patchouli and labdanum but of course if you use it a lot of times you will realize that both are completely different. Average sillage and longevity. Synthetic smell but not bad.
Overall: 6/10 . The same thing that i said with hugo boss red, try before buy!

  47. :

    3 out of 5

I received a sample in the mail. This isn’t bad at all. Nothing superb, but not bad in the least bit.
Frankly, it could be a bit more powerful in terms of longevity/sillage, but I mean, for what it’s worth, it isn’t a bad choice to get. Initially the smell was so-so but as it settles in it definitely gets better.
I’d say it’s a good, safe buy for a high school/college student or something.

  48. :

At the first sniff I didn’t like it but now have the sample and every time I try it I say.. it’s not so bad.. generally im not fan off this house, their the best frag is botlled, definly, but this one is warm spicy and quite strong scent.. isn’t bad at all..

Hugo just different – NOT AT ALL different, generic scent through and through – smell like cheap cologne, bench and hayden kho has better offering than this, I do not know what they were smoking when they release this. : DO NOT BUY!
I don’t know what happened to Hugo but their fragrances smell like head and shoulders shampoo, deodorant or deospray, checked the internet – and found out they are owned by P&G

  52. :

it was only by chace that i came to purchess this scent id heard of it and overlooked it untill today and cannot say i am in anyway dissapointed with this fragrance because its exactly what ive been looking for a minty fresh scent that lasts this opens with a spearmint and green apple freshness that lasts for the first three hours then just the apple midway through then finishes with a comforting cashmere with slight minty undertone before fading lovley scent thats fresh and different projection isnt massise but acceptable longivity is good and can be picked up for a pretty reasonable price verdict a must buy

  53. :

    5 out of 5

Very woody, spicy, dry musk and cool freshing top notes of mint.
I like this and it’s very wearable in my opinion a fitting name too as it’s kinda reminisant of the original Hugo (I don’t know might be psychosomatic/Placebo because it’s in the same bottle?) but somehow just different.

  54. :

    3 out of 5

It is different from other hugo boss fragrances.
Top notes last a few minutes, cool mint and green apply.
Heart notes last 2 to 4 hrs with strong basil and freesia
Bose mote is cashmeran , it kicks in heard notes and last 6hrs.
It is elegant, classy special for middle ages professional with hugo boss vibrant style, comparable to Guerlain, Chanel. Highly recommend.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

This has been a blind buy because I needed a “functional” fragrance.
Very first application (live): Blast of bitter cold mint, redolent of the green note in Aqua Fahrenheit. Refreshing. Now I get a hint of green apple, but the mint is still strong. No woods yet. Is this all I’m going to smell? Wait: it’s sweetening up a little… I’m starting to smell woods. The first time I smelled cashmeran was when I sampled TM Alien, so I’m kind of reminded of the woody notes in that fragrance. Woods are the most prominent note right now, though if I smell carefully, I can detect the mint and the sweetness of green apple.
It’s been about 15 minutes since I sprayed it on.
It’s an OK fragrance, good for really hot summer days. Nothing special or memorable about this one. I’ll glady wear it, but probably won’t repurchase it.
    Sillage: between soft and moderate.
Longevity: about 5 hours on my skin.

  56. :

    4 out of 5

This smells different from other fragrances in the Hugo line, but overall it is common. As you can see from the other reviews a lot of people can name something it “…smells like…”. It is a pleasant fragrance. The floral notes are prominent, and if done well I really like floral notes in a man’s fragrance. These are done nicely. I like the fragrance, but I wouldn’t buy it. No one should be offend by this scent, but I don’t think you will impress anyone either. There is nothing to rave or complain about here. There is an undertone reminiscent of the original HUGO. However, I had really hoped for a great fragrance, since I really love HUGO, which I have woren very regularly since ’98. The name “Just Different” is a marketing misstep. It begs to poked fun at, as many have, althought, the fragrance itself is not bad. A name like HUGO FLORAL would be better, but, judging from the adds, this would not have reached the market they were looking for.

  57. :

    5 out of 5

very typic hugo boss style, spicy and woody is very obviously but this time with a scent of fruity which is impressive. while the middle notes is too sweet for men,it may because of the aromatic.

I gave this to my boyfriend last christmas and i looove it! it smelled good in the store, but it just smells amazing on him! he’s 24 and not one to wear perfume or cologne but he wears this quite a lot, it’s not too strong or offensive

Finally got my hands on a 150ml bottle of this frag. I heard from the reviews below me, it has really bad longevity. But I’d like to contradict; I used 5 heavy sprays and it lasted from 3pm to 10:44 am on me. Maybe my body’s really suited for this frag. Yet after typing this review, I’ll take a bath and I’m sure the smell will be gone. Them smell is wonderful, and is suited for my age. Since we, youngsters, love to bathe in our colognes. And anyway, I’m a big fan of walking through the hallway, leaving a trail of this fragrance behind me. Kudos to Hugo and this new frag. 🙂
    Overall score: 10/10.

    Good Things :
-Very masculine but young, 20s and 30s age.
-Real Different (If you like Hugo Homme, The OLD ONE, you absolutely will love this),it smells unique.
    -Price is good
    Bad Things:
    -Not long lasting at all.
-Bottle is opaqueness makes you don’t know how much left from the fragrance in the bottle.

this smells very similar to Ysl L’Homme Libre in the beginning. The drydown changes in too Gucci Guilty but still has that fresh cut cucumber smell.

  62. :

    4 out of 5

It didn’t really capture me at the store.
I really expected more, but I will get back to this fragrence with a proper review once I have it. Hugo Boss Bottled def seems like a better choice right now. But who is saying you can’t have both? 🙂

  63. :

    3 out of 5

This might not be a masterpiece from Hugo Boss but it is very versatile and well done. Can be worn to go the school, after the gym, on a casual date, to go with your friends to a bar, etc. It’s just as versatile as Boss Bottled IMO. Not offensive and pleasing. Nice frag.

  64. :

When it starts , the top notes almost make it similar to armani code sport , but the two are different.
This scent can give you headaches too. It is minty and powerful and monster longevity is what it has.Spray it at 7 am , it will be with you till 10 pm.Not very different to be real and the name is funny , it should not have been atleast” just different” which is so dumb.Leto etc. are ok , running around in some city. The overall campaign and the theme is motherf***gly stupidly hilarious to me.
It is an A.O.K scent , atleast it lasts long.

The smell reminds me, in some way, RL Polo Explorer. I didn’t expect it would be sweet. This is sweet and fruity (like Polo Explorer), plus a bit creamy. First I though there is nothing to do with the original, but then I could smelled it in the background.

It’s not too good to purchase this one. It’s not that great. Smells good but lacks of personality, it’s generic and synthetic. Smells like tons of other male colognes and the price is way too much for too little creativity.
I’d buy it as a gift for my cousins who are 13 and 16. I’m 19 and I’d never buy this one, I’d wear it maybe after the gym or for every day use but not for special occasions. The name is a paradox, it should be called ‘Just the same’ or ‘Just Boring’.

What makes this scent so “different” from others it not so much the idea behind it, but much more the WAY HOW it is done: The opening is fresh and spicy and probably the most unique part of the whole scent, but after that you could argue that it descends to a somewhat fresh/woody/balmy standard scent for a young, elegant urban dweller – but still there is something that makes this perfume so special: the quality.
Although the most ingredients are probably synthetic, this scent stays throughout the time it lasts on the skin (which is after all 5-7 h on my skin) perfectly balanced – every second it gives you an incredible feeling of warmth, depth, freshness and concinnity.
In my opinion, you do not need many perfumes like this one, but if you want one, I would recommend Just Different!

the smell nice but for me it cannot be applied too much bcoz it’ll be too sweet and creamy. As for the bottle, i prefer a see through.

I tested this, and then I bought an ‘Aqua Faranhite (Dior)’. I wonder whether I made the correct decision.

Tested only, for what my opinion is worth – is another re invented Hugo Boss. Disapointed, especially in relation to its name. Disapointed, as I potentially enjoyed the cleaness, power and simplicity of the bottle as well as the notes. Disapointed as I was looking for a new memory builder from Boss.
IMHO, there is much better for your buck on the shelves right now.
It Should be called the opposite, “Just the same!”
Edit ; I have Bottled night which is an outstanding mens fragrance. So I am not in any way biased towards the House of Hugo Boss.

It should be called Boss Boring! Or the Same Boring Boss. Definitely not Different. Nothing to write home about. Nothing.

Poor longevity and synthetic smell. A complete waste of money!

Very nice, similar to the original but less of the green apple that stays at the top for over 6 hours on Hugo, this one I feel is smoother but projects a littles less cause of the lack of sharpness in the top note. I think I prefer it to the original Hugo although quite similar.
    9/10 for me

Different? You must be joking. This is a generic juice, indistinguishable from the aqua/shower gel/fresh monotonous mainstream for guys.
Go to Bottled and Hugo if you want a Boss fragrance with some character.

I get the feeling that my perception of Hugo as a little bit dare I say ‘Teutonic’ in their fragrances and clothing line (read efficient, safe, reliable) tends to prejudice my view of their offerings. In contrast, I can be too slavish over the offerings of say YSL or Dior, due to my biased perception of them as being edgy, uncompromising and awe inspiring in a typically French-creative manner. I have to say that whilst ‘Just Different’ presented another possible marketing gymick to my biased eyes, I was pleasantly surprised by what is in fact a looser, more attractive offering than previous fragrances by this house, with a discernible sweet/cool binary and a conscious effort to be less Germanic/functionalist and more Latin/creative. Apologies in advance for the sweeping generalizations here folks, I hope my meaning comes across.

After Boss. Bottled. Night and Boss Orange that I adore I was expecting something new and unique from Hugo Boss. Down the drain… Just Different is a combo of all Hugo (and Boss) fragrances, it is a 100 % Hugo Boss product. It starts with traditional for the brand watered down spicy notes of coriander, basil etc. with an addition of invigorating mint accord. After that the scent becomes fruitier (apples?) and sweeter, and mint begins to smell like mint in Givenchy Very Irresistible (in a green bottle). Nevertheless the fragrance still sounds harsh and nothing special. “Just different”? Nope. Just typical. The one season juice for fans of Hugo Boss and of Jared Leto.
When regular Hugo edt has an awesome sillage and longevity, this one doesn’t last long on me.

Hugo Just Different is a little similar to the original Hugo, but for me personally, this is a subtler composition and much friendlier. In other words, it’s not as sharp.
This fragrance opens with crisp green apple and minty toothpaste. It’s surprisingly refreshing and pleasant. Quite suitable for Spring and Summer wear. It does become a touch herbaceous, particularly near the heart, where the basil plays an important role, adding a sense of complexity to the already green and fruity opening.
It smells like a sports cologne to my nose, something pleasing to smell on a man, but not necessarily sexy. Having a suited up Jared Leto as the face of this fragrance doesn’t really suit the scent itself. Rather misleading actually.
I like the drydown the best. The rich fir tree accord and bold muskiness really finishes off this fragrance well. I am somewhat impressed with Hugo Just Different even though I feel it’s a little generic and uninspiring at times. I give it a tentative thumbs up.

First off, i like the smell. But I’ve noticed some fury over the name.
    Remember this in detail:
Look at the scents Boss has come out with.
Fresh/citrus/aquatic/Aromatic scents like the In Motion range, Pure, Hugo, energize, XY.
    Vanilla based Soul.
Spice based Orange was the last one to hit the market. It focused it youth and relaxation, it resembled Burberry London or D&G The One.
This is different in THIER view.
Boss are just a little middle-aged for today’s standards, that’s all.
    Ok, the smell.
I smelt the nozzle and I got CK Euphoria.
I sprayed it and got something a bit fresher than Euphoria, not actually smelling like Euphoria anymore but along those lines. I LOVE Euphoria, and I WEAR Intense to show it. I don’t feel this scent ripped it off, but more admired the style.
Starting minty apple, developing, not spicy, but more herbal and green.
The spicy drydown is earthy to me. Some will disagree with me but I find it earthy and hearty. Warm.
    Haters can hate,

Hugo Just Different Hugo Boss
