Description

Canadian design duo Dsquared ² presents the perfume pair Supercollection 2011 “Nature Always Wins” in February 2011. The pair consists of two fragrances: feminine She Wood Golden Light Wood and masculine He Wood Silver Wind Wood. Both of them are inspired by nature – by golden light and silver wind of Canadian landscapes, based on woody notes. Perfumer Daphne Bugey signed both of the compositions.

He Wood Silver Wind Wood represents the smell of the wind passing through the Canadian mountain forest, majestic and intense. It opens with silver notes – lavender, sage and fresh incense. The heart is filled with notes of wind – nutmeg and musk. The base is woody with cedar, vetiver, amber and vanilla.

The square bottle of transparent glass is framed with dark gray wood, decorated with silver lettering and black lacquered cap. The box is gray.

He Wood Silver Wind Wood is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Unremarkable but pleasant enough. Reminds me of Burberry Touch Men.

I love this warm but clean and fresh woody fragrance. My only issue are the longevity and silage are not as good as I would hope for. Still a good addition to my collection

Silver Wind Wood is Single Malt in the bottle! Full of body and character; individual, intelligent, integral and very contemporary potion. From the fresh and balmy opening with some salty aquatic tones this scent takes you on the journey into the evergreen forest in the scorched summer heat. Where smouldering wood along with burnt to a cinder nutmeg and vanilla give you this wonderful, oriental, dense and resinous aroma: warm and spicy, smoky and peaty, dark and ceremonial with some coniferous, x-massy feel about it.
The smell of Bonfire with a lavish party going on around..
    Merrily, merrily… Life is..just a dream.
Sheer delight for both sexes, I suppose.
Longevity is grand with a decent projection too.
    Cheers then!!

He Wood Silver Wind is a sweet, oriental, warm, spicy, sweet wood, sweet incense.. everything is caramelized! I wouldn’t say that it is a classical masculine woody scent. It’s very sweet and warm almost nauseous. It turns my stomach upside down but I like it! I mean, the scent is OK but to heavy for me.
It opens with massive lavender and sage and in a few seconds, comes to the surface the incense. After some time appears the musk and the nutmeg making it even sweeter. And OMG wait for the vanilla bomb.. I feel dizzy lol!! I think that excessive use of vanilla and musk kills it making a unisex scent suitable for women. I can detect some sweet soap in this scent.
The performance is very good with heavy projection and moderate longevity, above the average, of about 6-7 hours. I recommend it for fall, winter and cool spring days. It’s one of the best DSQUARED² fragrances ever made but it is not so woody..

Presentation is great, but the excitement ends there. If there could be a fragrance interpretation of insect repellent, this would fit the bill quite well. Incense ravages this scent to the degree of being noxious. No vanilla to speak of, only whiffs of what could only be the remains of nuclear fallout. How anyone could smell this without immediately falling prey to sudden sniffing death syndrome is miraculous. If you’re in search for a ‘breathtaking’ woody scent (that doesn’t actually kill you), do yourself a favor and stick to Rocky Mountain Wood. If it weren’t for it’s performance, this would have basically been a zero on my rating scale.

He Wood Silver Wind is a deliciously balmy and soft scent that keeps me sniffing my wrist. To me this is very unisex and any woman who likes woody scents should definitely sample this one. It’s great! It is a subtle scent though. It sits quite close. I have two sprays on my arm plus a few on my clothes and it is subtle. I get an ever so slightly smoky aspect that reminds me of Midnight in Paris when I press my nose directly on my skin up until about an hour after applying it. This is really lovely stuff!! Now I am waring with myself whether I should get a bottle for myself or gift one to my hubby lol.

very unique perfume. it´s smooky and fresh, a little bit oriental, if you can imagine a “cold oriental scent”. it´s nothing warm there, maybe a little the nutmeg. someone wrote here about gaultier´s le male in conection with silver wind wood, but I must say, this two perfumes are definitely not similar…

This smells like a mix between Armani codes powderiness, and Gucci pour homme 1’s cumin and pepper. Its interesting enuff I guess, but its overall smell is kind of plain and boring. NEXT…

I smell this one this afternoon. If you like light perfume, this is not for you. The incense is very intense and almost covered the vanilla smell. The incense remain about an hour before drydown which more less strong, but noticeable. It gimme headche and my husband has to pass it. Thanks god.

Upon first whiff it’s super powdery…after a few minutes it’s oh so powdery, within a couple hours it’s powder upon powder. To me, this frag is absolute powder and nothing else…maybe it’s powder on wood but it’s like you buried a toothpick in a bucket full of powder. If you like powder, you’ll love this one, if you hate powder, like I do, you’re nose will hurt for days after smelling this one. Man do I not like this fragrance.

“Silver Wind Wood” is interesting, at least on paper.
It manages the impressive feat of being both fresh and smokey. There’s a constant push and pull between a rather typical combination of sage, nutmeg and cedar, punctuated throughout by a dark, woody incense. To me it smells like olibanium and charcoal, burning in a remote pinewood forest. It adds a rugged, leathery masculine facet to a fragrance that, without it, would probably smell like a generic fresh teen scent like “Fierce” by Abercrombie & Fitch.
This is like the seasoned daddy to “Fierce”.

vanilla and incense wisely mixed…but it mediates longevity and sillage.

I picked up a 50ml of this earlier this week and, I must say, I’m really satisfied with the purchase. I’ve been looking for a woody replacement for my Encre Noire, which I had swapped away, and I think I found something even better.
To me, this smells like a 55/45 concoction of Lalique’s Encre Noire and Gaultier’s Le Male. It has the deep, natural and fresh woodiness of EN, and the smooth, powdery vanilla of Le Male.
The bottle and packaging are well presented (love the wood surrounding the flacon, clever touch) and a bottle can be got for amazingly cheap online. It’s funny, Dsquared2, the brand that brings you godawful $350 t-shirts that I’d sooner die than wear, actually puts out a fragrance of amazing calibre that costs one-tenth that.
    9/10

THE DRYDOWN OF SILVER WIND WOOD IS THE SAME AS Roberto Cavali Black’s.
Smooth, dark, clean, soothing and reassuring. I detected the similarity after a full day talking to a room full of entrepreneurs.
The room itself smelled like a perfumers lab as different colognes and perfumes mixed to create a scent cloud that hung in the air all day long detectable only when you leave the room and come back in.
All the while I has no idea how my Dsqd SWW was performing until finally it was time to leave. As I came out and inhaled the cool evening air, I immediately caught a whiff of “Roberto Cavali Black” drydown forcing its way through my now unbottoned shirt collar. An amazing and unexpected transformation.

“The incense, lavender and sage mix with spices nutmeg in the heart.lastly, the sweet mood of vanilla,in combination with the energy of must and the nobility of amber adds both richness and masculinity force.”
This is a great review and I totally agree with it, but I found the surely accidental typo “must” in place of “musk” absolutely hilarious (definitely no must in this lovely fragrance).
Much thanks to aquila_2009 for brightening my day! 🙂

Would it be horrible if I called this Hypnotic Poison… For Men!? I love Hypnotic Poison and I have to consciously will myself not to maul any of my female friends that wear it. Think about it; if you were to replace the almond with incense and the coconut with nutmeg? Maybe not in the beginning but a few hours into it, I suddenly thought, oh wow! It’s like the most masculine take on the Dior womens classic. In another review (even further below) Iscian compares the opening of Silver Wind Wood to Dior Fahrenheit Absolute, a flanker I am unfamiliar with…
    Thoughts?

First of all the bottle. I like it when brand have got their own design / signaturebottele i.e. Frederic Malle; Boss bottled. So Dsquared has got nice bottles but the 100ml bottle is just too big. I would prefer if it was more a “cube” that would handle better. The spritzer is very good.
When I test, I Always use 1 spray and see what happens and when applying the first one here, I was schocked…….. I realy didn’t smell anything…. I don’t know what it was but just nothing there??? AFter the second spray I started smelling it. I must say this is a very nice and very good perfume. Longivety could be better though. For me the smell stays close to the skin which is okay as you are not a walking perfumebottle.

Just came in fresh and delivered through fragrancenet. i bought a tester bottle of this coz it was inexpensive to do so.
On initial first spray, i was expecting a “windy” note? although i am not sure what wind really smells like. But, this has a dark quality indeed. Not light and airy.
If you own Midnight in Paris (vancleef & Arpels), the opening and mid notes of silver wind has an 80% similiarity. Definitely a night time, fall, winter scent. This is balmy, and like i said, has a dark, and incensy quality. The incense stands out quite a bit and that’s probably what made me think of Midnight in paris.
it’s on my arm for about an hour now, and i can smell the very nice drydown of this cologne.
This one you can definitely like and grow to love.

When i try this one i thought that it will be like the others He Wood frags. But after half hour i relazed that this frag has his own character.it is not offers just the sense of the forest or of the mountain but also the sense of night because of incense and herbals and thats make it special. Also the wood scent is not clearly, it is like you must look for it behind the incense. The vanille is an ideal supplement. On my skin it lasts about 7-8 hours and the sillage for me, is excellent. In my opinion the best time to wear it is at night’s special ocassions and on spring.Ending i am not a big fun of balmy frags but this one is really something special.

There is something about the He Wood series ( HW, HWRMR and Silver Wind ) that put them apart from all other colognes I have or ever had. The copmposition is vey simple, and although the price might sugguest, it doesn’t smell cheap nor artificial. On the contrary, they smell frash and authentic and extremely natural. I still would like them to be more woody and piney, but i like them all a lot. I was a little concern because I live in hot weather 365 days a year but They seem to be very wearable and conforting even in hot climate. They are very casual and perfect for the office, I mean, to work whatever the place and business. so, I think one can label them as such: original He Wood: fresh violet, almost transparent; Rocky Mountain: frsh violet with the most natural white pepper ever; Silver Wind: fresh green, less violet and a tiny bit sweet and vanilla. I can see myself wearing them to most places and hours for they are very inofensive and casual and CLEAN. They are perfect. thank GOD it is not like going into the woods at all, as some outdoorsy men have said before.
I am sorry, but Luna Rossa is fresh minty and a little soapy, more Prada pour Homme-ish. Nothing like any He Wood…
Edit: about 2 and a half hours later it is sooooo like Prada Amber pour Homme that is a little disturbing.

For me this is the best fragrance dsquared has to offer. He wood and rocky mountain were good,Potion was totally awful, and this one is just awsome…
It starts cold, “silver” with a bit of not too smokiness but with a fresh inscence.
Then it transforms (for me THE BEST stage of this frag) into a spicy warm dark with a lot of inscence scent, thats similar to gucci pour homme 1 only a bit sweeter and more “tamed”.The last and final stage is dsquared he wood with a vanilla touch which is awsome.Woods+vanilla is a really good combination done very good in this frag.
Longetivity is like other dsquareds 4-6 hours, projecting A LOT in the first hour.
Overall as i said this is dsquareds masterpiece, deep, unique combining all these stuff i want in a fragrance in perfect “doses” but it lacks longetivity…
Score: 8.5/10(if it had better projection and longetivity it would be for sure in my top ones)

  32. :

This is the soft vanilla fragrance for cold season I was looking for.
Silver Wind Wood definitely has convinced me by it’s mythology, package, fragrance itself and it’s values: decent longevity and sillage. It’s nice to actually smell the alluring misty, little malty freshness from myself.
Opening is cold, sparkling, then it turns vivid probably due to the pleasant musk and woods blended in cloud of soft vanilla, which stays till the fragrance completely fades (and fortunatelly on my skin it takes few hours). Here my imagination just captured me completely – I virtually can breath the gentle winter wind during a walk in the forest, which is so pleasant. Bravo for the campaign designers!
It’s modern for sure, I find it very well crafted.
This is certainly not a formal scent and I’m guessing it could be easly a signature scent, for every day in cold season.
My only concern is how this composition would behave in warm weather. Now, when I wear it, we have snowy winter. And Silver Wind Wood blends into it perfectly.
What I want to add is SWW reminds me a little of how I remembered Roberto Cavalli Black, except more durable and maybe little less sweet.
    It’s definitely worth a try.

I found this one to be nothing like the other 3 fragrances in the He Wood line, and I mean that in a bad way. I sampled it once and I didn’t like it one bit. It missed the fresh woody smell that is so characteristic to the original He Wood. Rocky Mountain Wood and Ocean Wet Wood are easily identifiable as fragrances in the same line as He Wood. Silver Wind Wood isn’t, in my humble opinion.

Best from the line of he wood Simply a Masterpiece really it smells really different from other perfumes and its better than rocky mountain its more Masculine , Dark and mysterious and it lasts 14 hours and stays strong for the first 6 hours really its a thumbs up

    Scent 10/10

At first sniff it smells on citrus very intensively, probably bergamot. After 2 minutes I smell heavy incense mixed with woody notes – cedar and vetiver certainly and a bit of lavender. This smell is very deep and turbid…I don’t know whether I picked up the correct word. It seems like you can cut it with the knife right in the air. At the end, or as we say base notes, goes sweet deep vanilla, and it stays on the skin till the perfume “dies”.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

Smells like nothing else I have, including the original He Wood, and I currently rotate through some 30+ scents!
I’ve never gotten so many “what are you wearing? It smells fantastic!” as with this one, and that’s from guys ands girls alike.
Takes *some* courage to wear, due to its intensity and unconventional smell, but man, it’s good. Powerful at first, then goes on to be woody and teasing for 8-9 hours plus. It’s the kind of scent you’d dash on before going to bed to ensure pleasant dreams and the ability to wake up the next morning filled with confidence.

  37. :

    5 out of 5

I think, this is second best choice after the rocky mountain wood. It depends because sweet fragrance are best on hot tropical countries and it last longer than fresh and sharp citrus type without any sweet contents.

  38. :

    5 out of 5

No verão fuja…

This is amazing, seriously. A slightly sweaty, smokey, softly-spiced ode to lumberjacks. To me, it is the ultimate compliment to skin. It smells like body heat sweetened and spiced to perfection. It’s hard to describe this, it’s the perfect blend of woods and spices that smell a little worn-in, if you will. It has an interesting way of smelling both sweaty and slightly clean from the herbal elements. This is everything a mens cologne need be, and as a woman I think it’s totally wearable in minimal amounts.

i can smell lavender, sage and incense from the first one hour, then incense, vetiver and amber smell throughout the day. after the whole day work, the shirt/body still smell very ambery and incensy.nice scent ! and oh yeah smell really WOOD ! nice bottle nice design, worth for collection.

A dark, mysterious scent which is very intense on the skin and has very good longevity….
0-5 mins- Something different and stands out.
5 mins- 4 hours. Projection ok, strong scent which is quite medicinal, earthy and piercing. Perhaps this scent has tried a little too hard to be unusual and dark and so some may think this is like disinfectant. Projection approx 6 inches
4 hours – 9 hours. Morphes into 90% Encre Noire Lalique. This is the best bit of the experience and it gets more and more intense on the skin, in fact it really beats a strong beat on the skin, but projection is only ok. Dark and mysterious.
An experience, I can’t see how the name “Silver Wind Wood” applies here? more like “Black Sap Wood”
    Good

Finally got a good deal on a 100ml EDT and bought it. I wore this today and after say 1-2 hours I thought to myself how very simular this smells to Jil Sander Man Absolute and I already own that.
Although simular to Jil sander Man Absolute, Siver Wind has a metallic kick with it on the opening. On the whole a good Autumn/Winter fragrance. One for the cold weather for sure.

This one is surprisingly sweet and feminine, yet still recognisable as a male scent. Not to everyone’s taste, as also shown by the voting, and even a bit dirty. For this reason, it could appeal to those guys who search for an “Obsession” for the 2010s.
Conclusion: It seems as if those vanilla fragrances for men are finally en vogue, and that’s good news.

It’s between the one gentleman and burberry london,a spicy vanilla woody warming scent.

Tested it today on my skin. Well this is actually the best DSQ fragrance from the men collection, especially in the lasting power. It’s silvery, woodsy, spicy, perfect for autumn and winter. It is safe and unique at the same time, quite interesting.

    A Oriental Rocky Mountain.
The incense with the amber/vanilla at the base is the diferential, turns into a chocolate woody type of vibe, like a velvety damp wood but a little sweet.
Ãnother amazing fragrance from Dsquared and very underrated.

Although it is not a bad fragrance, I will make second and third thoughts to buy it.
It starts very nice, woody and gives you the feeling that you are cutting trees with the chainsaw in the afternoon were the humidity is at the max and the sun goes to “sleep”….After that very masculine and woody boughet, the musk starts to rise accompanied with the nutmec. Here you are starting thinking what is going on and where is that very masculine and woody top note which last only a few minutes….and finally, the vanilla dominates the whole story….a lot of vanilla, sweet, very sweet that tends towards femine. The distance between the top notes and the base notes are miles away although you realize that is the same perfume but from the woody masculine begining, to the vanillic, slightly powdery and very sweet ending. It is a pity that this fragrance is not keeping that very nice top note longer and up to the end. Basically, this is a sweet vanilla with little cedar and vetiver….I was disappointed by the perfume trip although the start was very promising. A woody fragrance like that which has the name also, has to be a woody fragrance from top to bottom, not woody and finally sweet vanilla!

A quick sniff as I was passing thru a fragrance department at Bloomingdale: this scent is light and incensey wood. It has something tea-like and clean and I am not sure what. Also it does have something silvery metallic character but in a good way. It reminds me of a little bit of these fellowing fragrances (as far as the first impression goes); Lalique Encre Noire, Bvlgari Extreme, Bvlgari Soir, and Rocky Mountain. I may be wrong but again I only spent just a few minutes with it. To me my favorite is still the Rocky Mountain.

Saw this in Douglas today, finally and was it worth the wait!! Signature wood smell hits you straight away as i’ve become accustomed to with DSquared. A massive improvement on their last effort, the poor Ocean Wet Wood. Similar to the first one but more grown up! A must for a fan of this range!

I was really looking forward to smelling this as i absolutely love Rocky mountain road. I think it is one of the most under-rated scents available. When i saw this in Harvey nicks, i sprayed it waiting for the wonderful notes of incense, sage and musk to fill my senses…however, unfortunately all i got was the smell of a tweed jacket that smells of body odour that has been left in a charity shop. If anyone knows what i mean by the 212 sexy body odour smell you will understand.

Like most fresh, silver or metallic fragrances, this is lovely on paper, but once applied to my skin the top notes fade away in minutes.
My skin loves deep, warm scents obviously, just like my nose does…
The good thing though: a little while later the middle and base notes kick in and then the woody scent takes over. They keep a fresh vibe from the top notes, so the name of the fragrance really makes sense.
I prefer the original He Wood over this one, that’s for sure, but the two make a good summer / winter combo.
