Description

“Imagine sitting by the beach with the cool breeze striking your face with the subtle scent of the local bartender preparing a drink based on coconut and lime. The sun is shining, the water is just perfect and the volcano in the back smoking a little bit giving off a diminutive heat signal but enough to warm your heart. The perfect summer vacation scent.” – a note from the brand.

Hawaii Volcano was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Hany Hafez.

The lime note is a bit stronger making this a bit more masculine than Creed VIW but still unisex. Performance is at least 6 hours with good sillage. Perfect if you live in a tropical climate, otherwise it’s a one dimensional scent. A lovely one with that being said.

Good one,but not for me, a long lasting coconut-lime scent.

Smells gorgeous, really, I love the scent! But: performance is absolute crap. One hour on my skin and it’s gone – I mean GONE! The intense version holds up a bit longer … two hours may be, but it’s a skin scent after half an hour, too. 🙁

I have tried a few clones from this line but being a huge fan of VIW this was the one I was excited to try. For me the big complaint with VIW is the performance, which on me is terrible, a skin scent almost instantly with barely any projection are the trademarks of VIW on me.
When this scent opens to my nose it is very close to VIW, a punchy lime coconut mix with an undercurrent of sugarcane, a green sweetness. So far so good. The next stage comes and then to me it smells nothing like VIW, there is a strange sickly sweet lime smell that had me thinking I had made a mistake. The drydown comes at last and then it does indeed smell like VIW again. A decent clone that lasts on my skin a good 8 hours.
However. During those 8 hours for me there is zero projection and my partner sitting right next to me said she couldn’t smell anything after I had just sprayed it on. Again, a good skin scent clone, but save your money for the original because in the performance department unfortunately this does not do very well.

Amazing scent right here and if your looking for a more inexpensive alternative to VIW then look no further !
Before I compare this to VIW I’ll describe it on its own.
This opens up with what smells like a bright and tart lemon/lime combo mixed with some rich coconut that will immediately remind you of a tropical vacation. Once this dries down it’stays pretty linear but it does get more rich and smooth in the drydown and rum isn’t listed but it does smell like rum is where that richness is coming from as it does seem to be boozy in the drydown.
Also in a nutshell what this smells like is Sprite mixed with malibu rum ! It smells so good that you wish you could drink it.
In comparison to VIW they are very similar but I’d say they are 80%. They have a lot of the same notes but the lime and coconut note are more natural smelling, and also VIW is more playful, bright and on my skin anyways came off more feminine. With that said, even though the notes aren’t quite as natural I DO enjoy Hawaii Volcano better as it’s richer, better blended, sexier and it performs better. Because it’s more serious and rich it’s also slightly more versatile !
Performance is excellent as it lasts me 8-12 hours with very good projection for 2 hours and then it leaves a nice scent bubble and Sillage trail for the duration of the scent life. Big jump compared to VIW which only lasted on me 3-4 hours.
Also my fiancé loved this and preferred it over VIW as she said it was more mellow and relaxing and she complimented me immediately the first time I had this on (after applying it 2 hours before) and she hates most of my frags
Overall rating -9 out of 10 ! Very impressed with this scent as I don’t give many 9 out of 10s. Amazing smell, performance and compliment factor is high

    – I do not have Creed Virgin Island water
Actually, this is a tropical island filled with coconut trees inside a bottle, the balance between coconut and lemon makes you a Confused. Is this for external use or i can drink it ???
    – performance
    – One spray for the test has been smelt more than 8 hours
    – The smell is imaginary

I have been through 2 1/2 100mL bottles of Creed Virgin Island Water.
I am tempted to list VIW as my signature scent since I wear and love the scent.
Nothing has ever come close to VIW….until I bought a bottle of Hawaii Volcano.
I still think Creed is more refined, better but this is SOOOO CLOSE.
    Coconut Lime Beachy tropical fresh.

Well . . . I love VIW, and had to try this since it is supposed to be similar. To my nose, it doesn’t come close to VIW. I did a side by side comparison – one on each arm, and they aren’t the same to me. Although I can detect the lime and coconut, the dominant notes on my skin are a bergamot/mandarin/hibiscus accord that has an almost ‘vetiver vibe’. It’s sharp and bright, with the sweetness of ylang-ylang and jasmine adding to the blaze of summer. Late drydown comes closer to VIW, b/c this is where the coconut gets more noticeable. Great sillage. My brother liked it so much on me, he commandeered the bottle.

Very close to Creed VIW. Slightly stronger lime note which gives it a more masculine vibe to me than VIW. I get 7+ hours longevity.
If people need to bash this scent in order to justify spending 5 times the price on VIW, who am I to tell them how to spend their money? But my money is on Hawaii Volcano.

  11. :

    5 out of 5

Yeah, I couldn’t stop laughing when I compared it with Creed Virgin Island Water side by side. They are exteremly similar. However, the longevity is an issue here. People who claim it to be VIW on steroid have never compared them as I did. 4 hours in, you needed to put your nose on the spot to smell a hint of HV. 6-7 hours after the spray, I still could smell a trace of VIW, but HV was totally gone. Zero. Nothing left. People want to believe HV lasts longer than VIW or they don’t know shit about VIW. But, I like HV for its price and the quality of juice. Only the downside is the performance.

Upon the first spray, this instantly uplifted my mood and answered my fragrance cravings (its too hot at the moment where I live). This is a refreshing mixture of coconut and citrus, definitely getting the piña colada vibes. I am truly in love! I have to agree with the commenters below – that it smells very close to Creed’s VIW but is actually waaaaay more potent and longer lasting. This scent blooms in hot and humid weather and would be great all throughout summer.
    Overal rating 9/10

I currently own two bottles of my favourite summer fragrance, Creed Virgin Island water and burned through my first 120 ML bottle of VIW over 3 years ago. When I decided to order a 60 ML bottle of Hawaii Volcano, I was cautiously optimistic that HV would smell close to VIW.
    Wow.
This fragrance is SCARY CLOSE to Creed Virgin Island Water. In fact, I would say that it is almost identical, and this is coming from a guy who a) loves VIW and b) has worn it for years and owns two bottles to compare it to. The only thing that seems to be missing in the notes is rum, which has been listed for VIW, but not included in the list of notes for HV.
Some reviewers have said that they find VIW superior, and I respect their opinion. To my nose, they are pretty close.
The only difference besides the price? This fragrance is more potent than VIW.
    Highly Recommended!

I have to give my brother credit for telling me about this one. I have worn VIW and as most already know it is a very fleeting fragrance with a ridiculously beautiful smell, almost heavenly. For the price and its fleetingness VIW is just not worth it under any circumstances. Ladies and gentlemen, grab a greatly priced bottle of Alexandria’s Hawaii Valcano. I believe I got a 1 oz bottle for 30$ on their website and it out performs VIW by a mile. I have recieved compliments from scent trails all the way from a person on a second floor staircase at my son’s day care. This still maintains that “I gotta get away/take me away” beach vibe. Love this.

I bought into the hype… But I dunno if I really wanna smell like a Pina colada or sun tan lotion. Is it spot on what all the other reviewers say?, yes. It’s definitely a very tropical beach coconut Pina colada vibe. Would I keep wearing it? I really dunno. To me, this one would definitely be only worn on seriously hot beach vacation destinations or maybe even a cruise imo.
I definitely don’t have the money to spend on Creed’s version, so I got nothing to compare it to, but it definitely reminds me of Hawaii.
On a side note.. I appreciate what Alexandria is doing. I probably would never spend that much on niche fragrances. This one is so specific to me… I’d probably be mad if I bought the real deal because I probably wouldn’t use it that often… But that’s just me.

I have this and virgin island water on right now. As much as I love creed this is better. They smell identical but this is stronger and lasts longer on me. Pretty crazy given the price point.

I actually think this fragrance is better than Creed Virgin Island Water. Hawaii Volcano has so much going for it. Hawaii Volcano has slightly more lime and coconut in it to my nose than VIW. The quality of this juice is excellent and doesn’t reflect it’s very affordable price tag. I feel that this fragrance is about 98% similar to VIW.
The longevity and performance on Hawaii Volcano is excellent, especially for a summer freshie fragrance. I get 12+ hours of longevity every time I wear it. The projection radiates about 6 feet for the first 6 hrs on me then gradually gets closer to the skin after the 6 hr mark. I absolutely love this fragrance and I will never be with out it. When I wear Hawaii Volcano it always puts me in a great mood. Compliments galore with this fragrance as I get 4-6 compliments every time I wear it. Another masterpiece from Hany Hafez. Keep up the great work brother!!!

Virgin Island Water on steroids. Hawaii Volcano is a citrus based performer. Creed is usually a big letdown for me in terms of longevity & Alexandria Fragrances has solved that problem with Hawaii Volcano. A 2oz bottle of HV is around $60, so the price is nice as well.

The lime is fresh, juicy, and authentic, and the coconut is realistic, steering clear of becoming a “suntan lotion” kind of scent like so many coconut notes can do.
Comparisons to a Pina Colada are appropriate. This is a wonderful fragrance and will be getting a lot of use in the summer for me.
As for projection and longevity, here’s a story. I let my son sample this scent with one spray to the back of his hand so he could get an idea of the aroma. Nearly 8 hours later, when I walked past him, it was like walking into a scent cloud. The lime and coconut were still going strong and my jaw dropped. You don’t expect to still be getting 3-4 feet of projection after 8 hours, especially after just one spray, but that’s how this fragrance performs.

Aside from comparing this to Virgin Island Water, I seldom see anyone describe it the way it immediately comes to my mind: SEXY!
Yes, this is a summertime hit that’s tropical and all that (Pina Colada!), but you can easily wear this as a date or club fragrance. It dries down to this lovely pina colada smell that’s just heavenly to my nose.
Another great scent from Alexandria Fragrances.

When I first got this out the box, knew right away this was a hit! Amped up Virgin Island Water imho. Better performance and longevity. I’ll spray it on and still get wafts of it in the air in my room the next day!

The top notch alternative to VIW, no questions. Amazing performance and longevity, edging out VIW in this department. Scent-wise, same coconut and lime dominant, just slightly more citric than VIW is to me.

Hawaii Volcano smells gorgeously coconutty and fresh. I tried this as a huge fan of coconut and tropical scents in general, but never expected anything this fabulous. Since I have not tried Virgin Island Water (the inspiration for this), I don’t know how close the scents are. But it’s not important to me; Hawaii Volcano offers a beautiful tropical without the smell of suntan lotion or gardenia.
Most of the year it’s very hot where I live, so tropical scents get a lot of attention from me. Hawaii Volcano is unlike any of my other beachy tropical scents in that it’s not sweet or fruity. Maybe you could say it’s seedy since a coconut is a seed! How wonderful to find a non-Play Doh coconut fragrance. Happy to report there is no vanilla or other cloying lumpy note such as coumarin (tonka). Just ethereal sublimated coconut lime bliss. Early morning beach smell.
Only wore it two times and got more compliments than any other scent I have tried. Believe the hype.
EDIT 6/10 – Hawaii Volcano is VERY strong with monster sillage. Don’t assume it’s light and fresh…you may over-apply. Still a big like.

I blind bought this one (as I’m sure you can’t buy them anywhere else besides their website) I have very high hopes for this one. I am quite the fan of Creed’s Virgin Island Water, but not a fan of it’s longevity. VIW is a remarkable scent. The coconut and lime combo are superb in VIW. If Hawaii Volcano works out, I’ll definitely be exploring not only the inspired expressions line, but Alexandria’s original creations, and perhaps expanding my collection from this house. I will do an update once I receive my package.
Also, for anyone wondering, it looks like Creed reformulated VIW, as there is no coconut listed now on Creed’s website. Which kind of now makes this clone a vintage representation of Creed’s old Virgin Island Water, which makes me even more excited to have Hawaii Volcano in my possession!
    EDIT (12/30/17)
I just received my package this morning! All I can say is wow! I sniffed the trigger and could immediately detect Virgin Island Water from Creed! I’m at a loss as to how true this clone smells to the original. You can either pay $60 for Hawaii Volcano, or anywhere up to $300+ for a bottle of Creed (varying where you live or buy from)
Hany, sir, you blew this fragrance right out of the water! I will most definitely be looking to make future purchases from Alexandria Fragrances! Don’t sleep on this house! Great job!

Hany, did an incredible job with this one. The Lime and coconut notes shine through and it has significant longevity as is the case with most of Alexandria Fragrances. Although I’ve never got my nose on VIW, I may never have to. I do own Gorse by Laboratory Perfumes and this and Hawaii Volcano are very similar. The lime note is slightly more prominent in Hawaii Volcano.
