Wow! This was one hell of a find, and I’m extremely grateful up front to some of the below reviewers whose very authentic comments inspired me to seek this fragrance out. And boy, am I glad that I did.
In all honesty, I have been a bit of a fragrance snob in the past and have often avoided a lot of the C.O. Bigelow fragrances via their quiet ubiquity in the Bath and Body Works stores. But it was only recently when I was led to some of their terrific personal care products (namely the Mentha line) that I also found myself taking closer interest in their fragrances. Several of the lovely comments here and elsewhere intuitively told me that Green Tea and I had a future.
After nabbing a very reasonably priced bottle on eBay and its arrival earlier today, I have been in love since the first spray. It’s a perfectly lovely unisex fragrance, and every bit deserving of the praise it has received here previously. It’s just beautiful, and I’m so pleased.
As the Fragrantica info and other reviewers here suggest, it’s a pretty simple construct of a citrus blend, jasmine, and green tea. Simple…but mighty! With very strong projection and longevity that has lasted well and consistently since the late afternoon well into the late evening hours. Clearly a diverse fragrance that would, by way of its light and simple construct, be perfect for Spring and Summer, but is absolutely strong enough to cut through the density of the Winter air as well. A little goes a long way for sure. And given that this fragrance is out of production, that certainly speaks for the inclination to use it conservatively.
While I’m not entirely in-the-know on C.O. Bigelow’s manufacturing methods, I’m happy to report that it in no way projects a synthetic or cheap smell. Again, it’s simple and earnest, with sparkling fresh citrus, and humbly earthy jasmine and green tea. A perfect (and I mean PERFECT!) crossover scent for someone used to heavier designer fragrances looking for something a tad more bohemian or off-the-radar…OR for someone who typically goes the essential oil route and is now looking to spread their wings without going utterly designer/commercial/department-store.
And yes, I will absolutely vouch for the below claims that it’s perfectly appropriate for men and women. A fetching, iconoclastic fragrance that’s seasonally diverse and gender neutral in all the right ways.
    ★★★★ (out of ★★★★).

On my skin B1900 opens with a blast of lemon and white musk. Clean, clear, soapy, bright, very, very cheerful!
The heart boasts green tea, but not the usual chewy note that I abhor. This is more reminiscent of jasmine scented green tea, the stuff that comes loose, curled into pearls, and unfolds slowly as you steep it. The musk fades, leaving behind the tea note, clean, sharp, lemon zest, fresh from the fruit and full of oil, and jasmine in its cleanest form.
I used to wear this, and have just found a full flacon after years of searching. Back in the day, I wore it in the dulls of winter. There was a cab driver who used to pull up outside my apartment every morning, to offer me a free ride to work- I asked why, and he told me that I’d caught a ride with him on a sleety grey day, and that the second I got into the cab, he noticed that I smelled like springtime. He told me that it made his day, to smell this scent first thing in the morning. This arrangement lasted until I ran out 🙁
But now I have it back again, and I am reveling in B1900’s energizing, happy, sparkling personality. This is more floral than many men’s scents, but trust me, it is truly unisex. And men and women both make a point of draping themselves on me, inhaling in pleasure when I wear it. Although I suspect that people are more prone to draping themselves on women, so men may not get this response…
    It’s a gem!
Please read ericrico’s review- he nails it. This is the only tea scent that I can stand, and it really is different. Elegant, sharp, relaxed, sophisticated, effervescent, simple. If you wear it, be prepared to have people follow you and ask what you are wearing. be prepared to make new friends as well, as they follow you around.
I do recommend light application, as this can be surprisingly strong, even in winter. And on those grey, dull, winter days? You will be greeted as the harbinger of spring.
I differ on one point with ericrico- this does have the brightness usually associated with daytime scents, but I find that it is just admired at night. Recommended highly, and I think it would be a safe blind buy!

    Where’s the citrus and Jasmine?
This is straight green tea. I realize that’s its name, but thought maybe the other notes would show up.
    So disappointed in this one.

I bought my first bottle of this last spring, so it has been in my collection almost 18 months. A wonderful, gorgeous and rich Green Tea Eau de Parfum from the C.O. Bigelow house. Ironically, I originally bought this beauty for my wife with the hope that it could be unisex and we could share. We both adore it and I find myself actually wearing it more often than her!
I am a confident man – this scent is as far from macho as you will find, but so articulate, beautiful and natural! I called the Bigelow Apothecary and spoke to someone who has been with the company for over 20 years and asked if men actually wear this…”Most definitely!” was her response. She said it is one of their top selling scents for both men and women, while some men have shyed away at first – and then returned to buy it later as it lingered on their skin, they found the affinity for it. I found it immediately! A great warm weather scent different from anything else I have (although I do have a Green Tea Eau de Cologne from Yves Rocher – which is a nice spritzer). You will get noticed wearing this. It projects wonderfully on the skin for the first couple hours and lasts as a very nice skin scent for many hours past that. It never loses its beauty.
This is a scent that requires clean skin, nice attire and an aire of sophistication – it could actually be a formal scent, or as I prefer, a warm weather scent that captures a mood of harmony with nice casual attire. A polo shirt, clean shaven, hair slicked back and a pair of nice khakis (or designer jeans). Nothing macho. If you want this scent to work with you, you have to understand that it is a rich, but simple composition – so attire needs to follow suit.
Perfect for daytime – I don’t see this as an evening scent. The green tea note is wonderfully aromatic and strikingly real (so very natural), but the complimentary notes of citruses and jasmine make this what it is – a very nice minimalistic three-note composition. The jasmine is hanging on the vine…very green, wonderfully fragrant – not powdery at all. The citruses are very nice and linger in the composition well into the heart, although this is rather linear (which is perfectly fine for scent like this – it is brilliantly focused). For a green tea fragrance (and I have smelled several others), this is fantastic – especially for the price. It could, technically, be worn year-round…but I find it to be magical in warm weather with the sun shining bright. The only requirement is that you are relaxed when wearing this – not one you would want to exercise while wearing. It is an EdP and should be adorned in a social setting, intimacy during the day or for pure aromatherapy.
Fantastic and charming scent that is truly unisex and of the highest quality ingredients. My favorite fragrance from the Bigelow house! Outstanding.
