Super sweet honey with bright, almost shouting bergamot notes. Mostly bergamot as it dries, but that sweet honey makes it smell like I’ve spilled honey iced tea on myself. It’s actually kind of pretty in a sweet summery way, but no way is it worth the price. It’s too much like an iced tea body splash.

I got a sample of Gold Knight from eBay. Like all of Kilian’s Fragrances I have tried it is high quality. Its smells great. I wanted to try it because it has honey has one of the notes. It really smells like honey and the other notes add to it to make a really nice smell. It almost feels like there is a warmth behind it.

    Honey and very little else.

Not a bad scent on paper but if you have skin like mines that makes honey come off animalic then you might want to stay clear of this, unless that’s your thing. The cinnamon and honey comes off sour and very pronounced. Worth a sample at least for the experience

A scent between Back to Black and Tobacco Vanille

I actually really like this fragrance. I do understand where people are coming from when saying it is too similar to Back to Black. They don’t start out the same but do get more similar as time goes on. I would say Gold Knight reminds me of a flanker to Back to Black. In Gold Kight, that smoky tobacco note and the fruity notes (cherry/raspberry) are replaced with anise. The anise gives Gold Knight a medicinal note that I quite like. I find the two fragrances quite different in the beginning. They get more similar when the honey note starts to make it’s presence known. I do like how the anise note in Gold Knight cuts through the honey note. It cools the scent down a bit whereas the cherry/raspberry notes in BTB add a bit more heat and sweetness. I wore these scents side by side and like them pretty equally. I get monster lasting power with both. I still smell them both the next morning. I get good projection with both too. That said, I already own BTB and can’t see adding another $300 honey fragrance. If I didn’t own BTB, it would be a tough call between the two. I could see Gold Knight being perfect for someone who likes honey but wants a scent that is a bit cooler then BTB.

I definitely get a lot more than just honey in this one. There’s a very earthy, medicinal herbaceousness to it that I actually like quite a lot. The honey is certainly very prevalent, which is nice, since honey is one of my favorite notes, but the anise and patchouli come through as well. It kind of reminds me of a nice herbal liqueur.
I find projection and longevity to be pretty good. I could still smell it on my wrist the next morning.
The big problem with Gold Knight, however, is that it feels like you’re wearing half of Back to Black. Like someone was mixing up a batch of BtB, then stopped halfway through. I like Gold Knight for what it is, but it directly competes with another scent from the same house, and is clearly inferior. In my opinion, this one needs something to differentiate it from BtB. Something to shift it over into a different genre. Add some nice heavy boozy notes, some amber, some incense, something! Make it into more of an oriental, or add more fruit or florals, just do something so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a lesser version of BtB. For me, as-is, it’s a nice scent, but not worth buying a full bottle of.
This is one of the rare times I hope that a reformulation happens, because the potential is there, but it just doesn’t quite hit the mark.
4/10 from me. The scent’d be a 7 or 8 for what it is, but the price and the fact that BtB exists really hurts it.

A synthetic honey fragrance to me that has low sillage and longevity. I like the ingredients but the actual scent was a little disappointing. Received as a free sample and won’t be making a purchase.

ONE WORD “HONEY” thats it lol no evolution it’s boring as heck geez. Pros it does last long i can tell you that, but seriously if you like honey go with back to black. It’s also a honey based frag, but with complexity and 100x better than this a total PASS on this one.

You know that phrase “love to hate”? I dislike all things Kilian so much it almost feels like a crush; their fragrances should come with a Brillo™ pad or steel wool and scouring powder, as they are tenacious in their olfactory torture.
Put her back in the oven, because she’s not done:
I am so weary of some of the fragrance hype and hyperbole, and of wasting money on underperforming, disappointing scents (fortunately I was blessed with free samples of this when I bought another fragrance), I’m ready to ditch the hobby entirely. Is there a reason I don’t “get” the near-obsession with Tom Ford, Serge Lutens, L’Artisan and Kilian? Is it that some of these designers take themselves far too seriously, and that they and their precious “creations” possess about as much substance as Karl Lagerfeld’s current ponytail?
Whatever happened to FUN, dammit? This interest in smells that make us feel good, should, well, FEEL GOOD, and should be even nominally gratifying once in—at least—every six testings or so, particularly for the amount of money we pour into it.
I’ll be over here, snuggling up with my Kilian Disgust and a few aromas that are worth smelling, e.g. just about anything BUT Kilian, while the “Gold Knight” (bwahahahaha! NO. Just. No.) can hang somewhere far, far away from me, stinking up his space with his rose/eugenol/“honey” scent, alongside his equally tiresome and stupidly monikered counterpart “The Woman in Gold”, emitting her face-palmingly snooze-worthy rosey/eugenol/pink pepperfest. Will that blasted The Body Shop “Ananya” never die??
ps. the Klimt-inspired fragrance has been done—see “Nuits Indiennes”—with, frankly, better (and much more affordable) results. There ARE many other notable, worthy, early 20th century artists out there, you know. For instance, perhaps a good, scribbly, dirty little fragrance inspired by Egon Schiele…fougere? All oak mossy and dark, or golden and dry-sweet immortelle, maybe an opium den laced with castoreum…ambergris and poppies? Yeah..this is why I leave the fragrance creation to the pros…

Smells like Eight & Bob’s Egypt at double the price. Has subsequently been copied by Mancera’s suffocating Red Tobacco

Let me be clear about something: The ByKillian universe is just a city to me. That’s probably why i don’t own anything from their collection. I’m all about 2nd chances but with this brand, I’m probably working on chance number 14. With much chagrin, I will officially add this to my “Humdrum” list. This wasn’t the darkest knight with the shiniest shield that I hoped for. The uncivilized aroma puts me in the mind of Agartha or maybe the townsfolk in the M. Night Shyamalan movie The Village. This is honey, patchouli and something that smells like the immortelle flower. In all honesty, you might have to be a honey fanatic to enjoy Gold Knight otherwise, this is as boring as boring gets. If you’re looking for a perfume led by honey with swoon ability and fancy embellishments, I would suggest you try Eau de Hongrie by Viktoria Minya. Creating a beautiful gold box was a great idea to trick the public into purchasing. Just look at Laura01, she never stood a chance. Hey Laura01, I’m gonna help you out..You like the box not the scent.
Here’s my official list of things that I find boring:
    -Watching Paint Dry
-Going to my daughter’s high school musical concert
    -Wearing ByKillian’s Gold Knight

The anise top note reminded me of Lubin’s Black Jade. In fact, many of the sweeter notes remind me of it, but the patchouli gives it a powdery earthiness that I believe will make it wearable for men.
Gladly, the powder note didn’t go full Johnson & Johnson’s, and like everyone says, it melts into a very, very pronounced honey note:
Like, taking some of that German creamy honey and slathered yourself in it – that distinct and pure.
If you love honey, this is a definite yes. If not, move along.

This is not a western smelling scent
    The anise is very slight.
This is a honey patchouli scent.
Which means if you like sweet patchouli this scent is for you.
Im don’t really see this as a fragrance for men at all.
This gives off a pungent honey greasiness that may intrigue folks in the orient.
There is an initial powderiness that would scare off people not comfortable smelling talcy. However, that powerdery vibe fades away on the dry down.
I understand that its becoming fashionable to pair Bergamot with traditional sticky-earthy ingredients to kind of freshen-up tired or forgettable pairings.
Im not a fan of the “add bergamot to anything and it will smell fresher and more daring” philosophy.
After a few hours the patchouli gets less prominent and it leads with a resiny honey wrapped in a faint vanilla structure. It becomes more agreeable as it loses its complexity and grows more airy.
This is not a normatively masculine scent, it presents an unbathed honey vibe that I would find off-putting on a woman. After a few hours it becomes a light honey scent that does not claw and would work in a professional context for a middle-aged woman.

Honey galore with a vanilla underlay of baby powder, licorice…almost an incongruous opening much like an orchestral discord during warm up which then transcends into an incredibly sophisticated symphony on opening night. Somehow the disgruntled opening notes blend and dry down to an amazing singular sensation. With this one, patience is a virtue. Give this one several wears before deciding how you feel about it. — And now that the cold weather has arrived, it presents beautifully in the chill. Self-possessed, poised. And perhaps regal.

Heavy and sticky. Prominent honey notes that are almost medicinal. I would have guessed that there was apple, mint and oud in this fragrance. It’s perplexing and peculiar. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either.
Extremely long lasting. The journey from first spray to dry down is an interesting one.

I couldn’t pinpoint what it smelled like, but I tried it again and now I get it—chrysanthemum! It smells like the yellow Chinese flower tea people drink to cool down in the summer heat! I haven’t actually compared it to Rock Rose yet but that one reminded me of it too.

Interesting scent. Somehow comes together as Amber Oud + Back to Black. Quite nice actually, and perfectly unisex. Will comment on the longevity later……I hope
Edit: longevity at 6 hours so far. Projection is not heavy but it’s niticeable for the first 3 or 4. Solid release from Kilian.
Second edit: the longevity is actually staggering on me. If I apply at 7am I can still smell it when I go to bed at 10pm. This is the most impressive release from Kilian in a long time.

Hmm. I tested this a few times. Too much honey. It’s a Floral honey. Hard to believe it’s marketed as a Men’s fragrance. Very Unisex leaning Feminine. It does have good projection. Longievity is 6-8 hours on my skin. The Patchouli is not very pronounced, just a whisper. This will be a pass for me. Needs an UNDER CONSTRUCTION sign. Would have been nice with more woods.

It starts out pretty nice with a cooling spicy tone, then dries down to practically nothing within an hour lol
Probably need to test it again but I’m not hopeful (Wish someone would get it and just sell the case for cheap).

I saw and tried it and cannot decide if I like the scent or the box blinded me and charmed me. After trying it again I decided I like it but it is a bit too masculine. Even though I often like perfumes for men, I think this one might be a step too far. So… I found a solution – a Christmas present for my significant other! Two birds with one stone as they say
