Description

The word “gin” is a diminutive of “genever” from the Old English, derived from the Dutch “jenever”, which in turn has its roots in Latin “Juniperus” – the main raw material of the beverage. Used for medicinal purposes since the Middle Age, the mix of juniper, anise and other spices was transformed into a kind of brandy by the Dutch in the 17th century, possibly becoming popular in England when Prince William of Orange of the Netherlands
took the throne. Gincenso brings the invigorating aromatic gin qualities to the most ancient and
mysterious fragrant ingredient in the history – incense – at once building a translucent and
smoky, intoxicating and contemplative aura.

Gincenso by Daniel Barros is a Aromatic Spicy fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Gincenso was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Daniel Barros. Top notes are bergamot, juniper, star anise and pink pepper; middle notes are geranium, violet, nutmeg and ginger; base notes are vetiver, cedar, olibanum, elemi and musk.

Very Sick creation right here, like many of his line. Good Fragrance for Spring and Summer, totally nailed with that Gin-Accord

Another thumbs up to perfumer Daniel Barros. Gincenso starts off as a glass of icy gin, very close to Bombay Sapphire with its clean notes of juniper, but about 1-2 hours into its development, the classic frankincense of incense fame begins to reveal itself. An unusual, light-hearted incense that is neither dark nor resinous, Gincenso reminds me slightly of Durbano’s Rock Crystal. It is a pleasure to wear and would be great for any weather.

Searching on Gin i just learned that this drink is almost a complete scent among the alcoholic beverages given the amount of aromatic elements that can go, not to mention the various versions of it that exist. What they all have in common, however, is the use of juniper as an essential part of its formulation, an spice from which its name derives. Juniper is the main element also in Gincenso, which in its color approaches the London Dry Gin variation but in its aromatic profile is like a mixture of this with a Plymouth Gin, a more woody and earthy one.
Of all the perfumes of the Barista collection, Gincenso is what has its closest olfactory aura of commercial men’s perfumes, but done with a use of natural ingredients that you would never find in this kind of perfume. The use of synthetic structural elements such as iso e super gives a woody and warm mineral quality that is very pleasant and lasting. On it is built an aromatic and spicy profile flirting at various times with a classic fougere.
Gincenso opens with a contrast between a more aniseed, menthol and citrus aroma and one more spicy , dry and with fir nuances. It is possible to see at the background of the warm mineral aroma trimming the edges of this more complex contrast of the opening. It evolves into a floral heart that flirts with fougere by the strong presence of geranium, one of the few classic flowers of male perfumery used a lot due its herbal , green and rose-like aromatic profil. Its most minty aspect ends up serving as a bridge to the final stage of evolution.
It is after about two to three hours on the skin that can be seen more clearly the terpene nuances and smoky aspect of incense, but still has its cooler side and minty present discretely in this last phase. The resin elemi reinforces this sense of incense, but adding a slightly sweet side. Finally, gincenso closes the composition with its more structural elements, mineral and earthy look of wood that were noticeable in the output. It ends showing very well that you can build on well-known and widely used materials an elaborate concept, abstract and faifhtful to the drink chosen for its representation.
