Description

In 2017, the classic Givenchy Gentlmen fragrance receives a completely new, modernized reinterpretation under de name of Gentleman Givenchy, which seeks to showcase how this fragrance would be if it was only made today.

The composition has been announced as a woody – floral – fougere, signed by Firmenich perfumers Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson. The fragrance is described as a mixture of “power and sweetness”.

Top notes: pear, cardamom
Heart: iris, lavender
Base: patchouli – leather accord, black vanilla

The face of the fragrance is actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and the advertising campaign is directed by his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson. The bottle, with its graphic design and massive glass weight, gives a modern look to its classic design. Gentleman Givenchy will be available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Smells very similar to Versace Dylan Blue, but without that bergamot scent, in the first hour after you spray it. It’s more balanced between the notes (even tho there is no pear is present only for a few minutes in this one..) but it’s also softer, or closer to skin. I would call it “the more elegant cousin” of Dylan Blue. Overall rating would be 8/10.

I agree with giuseppe98gp83 that this frag smells like a wooden plank and pear skin at the beginning, however I think that it evolves nicely going into drydown when the balsamic bases begin to show through, giving Gentleman a grounded structure. The gentle balance between the lightness of the pear, powdery nature of the iris and lavender, and balsamic depth of the patchouli, vanilla, and leather blend nicely to make a pretty solid modern reformulation of the original fragrance.

As soon as I smelled this scent the first thing that came to my mind was the pear skin mixed with real wooden planks. A perfume devoid of any personality, unless there is a personality on this world to be defined as “Dry” because it seems to rub a wood immersed in pear juice.

The original gentleman may have been a great scent in the 70ies, but smells totaly outdated today. This new Gentleman from Givenchy is modern, but that doesn’t mean necessarily good. I was very dissapointed. On my skin, I get a very leatherish, a bit acid, citric smell. My nose also picks up ginger, although not listed as a note. I don’t really get any pear, pineapple or vanilla here. Some flowers maybe. This whole concoction smells very synthetic, unpleasant and unwearable to me. A big pass on this. Surely this was my last blind buy ever…

Totally agree with MrHonest and cursive123.
The opening is very similar to CH Men Prive, and it does not smell like Dior Homme. They are in the same league, of course, but I find it more easy-going than DH.
It also reminds me of another CH fragrance: Chic for Men.
Best suited for spring/fall, and perfect for the office. It’s a subtle and refined scent that will set you apart from the more popular offerings out there.
If you like the EDT, you definitely should check out the EDP.
More powdery and sweeter, but better.

I have noticed that this smells so much better in the air then it does when we put our nose right up to it (weird?).
It has a lot of very sharp notes that can cut up our smell-a-vision and putting our nose right up to the area sprayed really doesn’t do this juice justice but that’s a design flaw.
I’d say this smells so good when you aren’t close, when you are passing by or within 2ft-3ft of someone this is a really nice smell.
I just had to put that out there, it has a really pleasant smell and projects with good sillage that can fill up a room with a nice creamy lavender iris scent that is very relaxing imo.
I still consider this a good alternative if you are on a Budget and you want something like a Dior Homme (Dior Homme is cheaper than Prada so if you spend 30-40 bucks more you could get that instead of Gentleman) or Prada L’Homme for work but can’t afford it then this is actually a really solid frag. I just spray it on clothes and it lasts for around 10 hrs today I did spray my undershirt as well and still got some waffs at the end of the day.
The deep drydown is very beautiful and becomes much creamier and smoother than that harsh opening. You give this about an hour it gets pretty ok, you give it 2 hrs and it is really nice creamy smooth floral (feminine though for sure) laundry detergent is what I really noticed; If you were to wash your clothes in a really powerful floral detergent (super strong like probably doesn’t exist tbh lol) this is what I think of in that deep 2hr+ drydown on clothes only (don’t bother spraying this on body!)
Still can cause a headache tho when you over spray
Don’t spray on your body, just on clothes only and give it like an hour+ and this fragrance becomes really special tbh, it’s very very creamy and floral and it’s nice

Smells very similar to Le Roy Soleil Extrême by Dali. Both are an interesting blend of seemingly contrasting ingredients, including pineapple, pear, floral, patchouli, and cardamom.
This adds a note I dislike in any scent : vanilla. While I appreciate the attempt at something unique… It isn’t for me.

I can’t remember how the original Givenchy Gentleman smelled now so I can’t compare to this modern reinvention.
I sampled this at a store last week out of interest. Annoyingly, I was in a rush with my wife and there were so many bottles to choose from that given time I would have tested something else but out of interest, I ended up grabbing this on the quick instead.
I didn’t like the top notes at all, the pear / cardamom mix doesn’t work on me. I never found it nice to sniff at any point. Even though I had the urge to scrub it, I toughed it out to see how it would develop. It got better after the top notes faded but I wouldn’t get a bottle of this or even wear another sample. One thing I can say is it has longevity (I could smell it the next morning) so if you enjoy this scent it’s probably a good buy from that perspective.
    Probably a 4/10 for me.

So I finally smelled the original. Those who claim this cannot compare the old Gentlemen Givenchy you are stuck in the past. If you wear the original you will smell like an old man. This is version is more modern and will make any young man smell good.

  10. :

I like this, it smells very good, fresh and masculine. Its a weak scent though. This would be less generic and a lot better if they concentrated this version with the exact notes instead adding and taking out notes to do the eau de parfum. Lastly the new eau de parfum is a better buy, its less synthetic, a little bit more sweeter, but powerful.

((Don’t overspray! refresh after 5 hrs would be much better than spraying 5-6 sprays at once since this can be a headache inducer))
i like this scent for everyday use. If you are tired of Sauvage and other things like that I really think this is a nice change up from that. (i still wear Sauvage don’t get me wrong)
This isn’t some big Feral cloud of Musk like Sauvage can be, it’s so light and airy with just a touch of Pear in the background that i really like in the opening. the dry down the lavender really is the first thing i notice and the iris is very dim but it is noticeable.
As for if it’s not like the original or whatever, I really could care less, I’m just looking for good scents for a good price.
    Prada L’homme
    Dior Homme
These 2 have more distinct and somewhat weird characteristics tbh, I do like the Dior version more but this is suppose to be more similar to those types of scents but for much less and easier to find. This doesn’t smell like Dior homme or Prada (sometimes you may get similarities if you really dig but not much), but it’s in the same category, it uses many of the same notes in different ways and all 3 serve the same purpose. So if you see ppl comparing this to Dior or Prada it’s because of the reasons I listed above. It doesn’t mean it’s a Clone of either, just to stress that they don’t really smell a like, this is imo a little nicer with that Pear and some of the Floral notes, i’m not gonna rant about it but I like that subtle sweetness that this provides, it’s just very classy imo
Sometimes (not always) that initial spray can put out a rubbing alcohol vibe but as this dries down you get a lavender / iris / pear scent that personally i feel it’s blended pretty great.
This for sure could be a hate for some ppl considering the iris / lavender note that blends with the pear in kind of a weird way which is why i personally like this but the more i smell it i could see why ppl don’t enjoy it

I sampled this a while back and thought it was very nice. Better than the original, “classic” as some call it, which was loud and obnoxious IMHO. Glad they revamped the original.

Never smelled the original but this smells good. Saying it’s a bad fragrance is flat out lying. It isn’t generic either. Which other fragrance uses pineapple pear and iris all at the same time. I’m impressed by this and really love the Eau de Parfum. This is modern, classy but fun at the same time. You could wear this causal and professional and it lasts 6+ hours.

I love it! Reminds me of Acqua di Parma – Quercia. The bottle design is classy and invokes associations with this fragrance’s theme of a Gentleman.
I’m happy they updated the old version.

It bought a bottle last year when it came out and wore it all throughout fall and winter 2017. I live in Paris and here it has a most distinctive smell, one you notice among a crowd no matter how dressed up you are. You could be in sweatpants or in a suit, if you wear this fragrance regularly this scent is immediately identifiable as yours among your peers. It is my signature fragrance along with the eau de parfum version ( in the black bottle ) which should be used in very cold and snowy weather.
You may compare this fragrance to the old Givenchy Gentleman and say the composition/scent has changed a lot relative to the first perfumes, but what really do we have in common with 40 years ago apart from fuel powered engines, currency and alcohol ?
i am an art student. i walk with this fragrance on me in my university on a cool October morning. Today i have a black turtleneck sweater, black chelsea boots, black pants, and a very long black manteau, all black today. As i zoom through to the corridor to go downstairs for my smoke break my sillage wafts all around me where i go, leaving my signature all around the students walking past me to their classrooms. My colleagues are already downstairs in a circle. i join them. as the conversation goes on, they do not say it. but i know they have noticed it; givenchy gentleman is a fragrance that you notice.

Starts off identical to CH Men Prive, but turns a little towards the Ultra Male phenotype in the drydown with a slightly powdery and fruity iris.

Safe for everyday use. If you don’t want to fulgurate in perfume this one is for you.
Doesn’t get too much in the way and it plays nicely. Longevity is slightly disappointing if you’re looking to cover the whole day/night, don’t expect more than 4hrs although it may have occasional comebacks in hours 4-8.
Gets a compliment or two if applied 3hrs before otherwise noticeable only at close range.

The poor marketing team who designed this advert went to great pains to indicate THIS IS NOT GENTLEMAN & yet so many here still expecting it to be. Starting with the Baby’s Breath flowers in every image, then moving on to holding a fluffy white kitten and eventually they dropped the metaphor altogether and went with ‘a new Gentle Man’. Gentle Man….not Gentleman.
This is soft & elegantly fresh, with pears, iris & lavender up front and soft leather & patchouli propping them up. Its not groundbreaking but a safe, gently refined, masculine scent for office or daily wear. No relation to the original & not a patch on the gorgeous EDP.

  22. :

Is a very commercial fragrance, smells clean, is not a watery vibe is more like a dry feeling. Is not something really special, but it’s okay for everyday wear. I may like more gentlemen only absolute but i use it more for winter is more special for me.
Don’t overspray this one i feel like if you put to much with this one it could give you headache.

New Gentleman is boring compared to the original which was really outstanding in mainstream.
This is a totally new fragrance from Givenchy. From what I understand they are trying to relaunch it as a new Gentleman. The pair behind, Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson, have already collaborated in the New YSL Opium Black and he has done Black XS and she has done Cool Water Deep. The perfume itself is very subtle and discreet, even though it has Iris in the middle notes, which counts a lot. Lavender and Patchouli add to that. The result is very good and pleasant. I just suggest that people maybe need to put a generous splash, when they use it.

This rubbish has no place in being called ‘Givenchy Gentleman’. The usurper to the name is an enervated fragrance that has little to do with the original. It smells like a bunch of other fragrances mixed up in a bucket. The patchouli bomb that was the original or the early 2000s version was distinctive and head turning.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

This scent has nothing to do with the original Givenchy Gentleman other than sharing the same name. It’s a sweet modern scent with dominant pineapple note and some vanilla on the drydown. I don’t pick up any patchouli note. Performance is disappointing. It lasts an hour or so before it turns into a weak skin scent. Check out Bentley Azure if you like Givenchy Gentleman 2017 but need stronger performance. They smell near identical or very close to me.

Fresh and inoffensive. Definite unisex vibes. Good for transitional weather. It’s a solid composition with decent lasting power, but you can do better in that same price range and below.
On me, a woman, I get sweetened lavender drizzled with pear throughout. Very little iris, no leather at all, hints of vanilla in the drydown. I’m gonna use my sample with my smart-casual outfits.

how come everyone loves to hate everything on this site? this fragrance gets so much hate on comments. I decided to buy it despite that (or maybe because of that) and I love it so much!!!! the smell on my skin hours later is just so incredible. Absolutely beautiful and classy like the great true gentleman, Mr. Givenchy himself! as for the gripe that it’s nothing like the original? well, freakin’ go buy the original! or are you also looking for 70s clothing to go with your modern attire? why should fragrance be stuck in the same decade?! I own the original and I love it. I now own this and I love it just as much! Different creations to fit the sensitivity of different times.

I fully concede that Gentlemen Givenchy (2017) is neither groundbreaking nor original. That said, it is a very pleasant smelling fragrance that can be worn in the office or casually. I think it sits nicely within the orbit of Prada L’Homme, Versace Dylan Blue, and Bleu de Chanel, though I prefer each of those slightly to GG.

  30. :

Creativity Nadir – bottle-wise, name-wise, and mostly scent-wise. Aren’t there other names one can look for! I’ve just seen that the always pretentious CC has one titled (pretentiously of course) Chasing the Dragon. I mean even this is better than just using a classical name for a fragrance that has nothing to do with the classic.
The scent itself is casual, nice and long-lasting. But the naming convention bothers me a lot. It itches, even aches, why did not Givenchy use this moronic scent for their Play line! This way I wouldn’t have even bothered with this release.
But there is hope. I mean after this thing Givenchy can’t do any worse, right. They can only do better. Unfortunately something tells me that soon there will be an eau de perfume version, followed by a sport one, and then, of course, an extreme release.

This smells so very nice, not overdone, clean and fresh, definitely a scent for maybe younger guys who don’t like to wear heavy stuff.definitely stylish, manly in a cool confident way…I bought it for my son, and seems he gets complimented on it..it has nice longevity, is basically a classy modern version of the original..Givenchy did a nice job on that one..it isn’t like floral, so don’t think it is unisex, it embraces the masculine gender in a great way.
I will add it has nothing in common with Bleu de Chanel..

  32. :

I have the original which is heaven and tried to compare it with the new release. So boring and nauseating in the Bleu de Chanel copy-paste style. Gross and trivial. It makes me sick.

Subtle. Boring. Safe. Smells good. Crowd pleaser. Good everyday working horse. Staying power is weak.

I am so happy that Givenchy changed the original fragrance because I really didn’t like it. This new version is so nice. I smell it on my skin for a while and love it. Very fresh and uplifting.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I know this is getting a lot of hate, I think mostly because Givenchy are reusing a name and bottle that people love, but I actually like this one. I think it plays great with the whole new gentleman theme, which is, if you ask me, perfect for an iris fragrance. Ever since Dior Homme iris has been seen as a metro sexual thing but over the years and with recent releases with a more tamed, fresher iris note, like Prada L’Homme, Dior Homme Eau, and others, iris has become a sort of work, dressed up, “gentleman” type of note. And that’s what this one does perfectly, fresh, spicy iris with a little sweetness that goes great with a nice button up for work or a nice date. Is it amazing? No. Is it terrible? No way. Is it original? Not really because of Prada L’Homme, Dior Homme, and Dior Homme Eau. But if you don’t have any of those and are looking for something classy, versatile, and easy to like, I’d say try it out. I personally like it but it would be a redundant purchase because I own Dior Homme Eau and have decants of Prada L’homme and Dior Homme, but when I run low I might replace DHE with this one or PL.
Don’t hate, just try it out a couple of times and see if it suits you or if you’d actually find yourself in situations to wear it. If you see yourself wearing it congrats but if you don’t, does it really mean it’s terrible? Or is probably just not your cup of tea?
Update: The drydown of this smells pretty similar to Dior Homme Eau, really smooth, creamy, with a little sweetness. But the opening is a lot greener and brighter. A little floral but not lipsticky at all like DHE or Prada L’Homme. Definitely projects more that DHE on me and lasts around the same as PL. like I said before, all three are great and serve the same purpose, this and DHE probably being a little more versatile because of the fresh openings and sweeter dry downs while PL is linear but other than that there’s not much between then, pick your poison. PLs iris gives me a headache though and is kind of piercings, DHEs is lipsticky, so fair warning.

This represents for me man standing in some nice room or reception room in maybe light color not overly formal suit. I can sense there some nice wood furniture. It also little bit smells like car with leather chairs. This man is not really a office worker, he is more on it’s own business, thou this perfume is enough non-offensive. Not loud, light and in some way soft and gentle. Nothing very special, but definitely nice one. I can sense spicy, airy notes and in background light patchouli. There are some floral notes. He is gentle man, but enough manly. Not sure why so many dislikes, there are far worse popular perfumes around. Maybe it is how that kitten is represented in gentleman arms that gets so much dislikes? Not sure, but as woman I don’t mind this light perfume on man.

The scent reminds me of a weaker version of Uomo by Ferragamo, The Uomo for me was too sweet, but this Givenchy version is just right. I sprayed a sample of this on my clothes and it lasted the whole day, I tried it on my skin, I just could not stop sniffing at my arm. I agree with the general consensus that this fragrance brings nothing new, it smells a bit similar to other fragrances already out in the market.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Givenchy Gentleman at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago. First sniff felt like a slap in the face… not because it’s bad, but because it is literally nothing like the original. There is not a single drop of the original DNA in here. It’s not bad, but it smells so similar to every other mainstream fragrance out there.

I picked up a bottle of Gentleman Only a few months ago and admittedly have given it a few wearings but have reached for other fragrances this Fall. Having said that, I have read some of the reviews below and felt that I should provide my feedback on this fragrance.
Is this a great fragrance? From my perspective, it’s pretty good. It’s pleasant, the pear/iris/lavender combination with a mild vanilla base, makes this an attractive scent. It doesn’t smell at all like Dior Homme to my nose, it has a lighter, fresher vibe to it, and is best suited for transitional weather – Fall/Spring. Longevity and projection seem fine, and I can see this fragrance appealing to the opposite sex.
I’d classify this scent the way I classify YSL La Nuit de L’Homme Eau Electrique. It’s not the most unique scent, and admittedly there are elements of this scent that seem a bit familiar, but all in all, it’s a nice scent.
One final comment, and this is coming from a guy who wore Azzaro Pour Homme for over 10 years (in the 80’s and 90’s) – there’s nothing wrong with a company introducing a modern version of a fragrance.

This LITERALLYsmells nothing like Dior homme. Don’t listen to those saying it does. Nor does this smell like the old gentleman. I believe they should have given this a different name…but having said that I do like this. It’s fresh and smells very pleasant. The longevity and spillage is good on this one. I sampled today on my skin and it must have hit my jacket sleeve. I kept smelling something really good while eating lunch and realized it was me. Smelled my jacket and sure enough it was. I would say this is worth the money. This to me somewhere between gentleman only and Chanel bleu. Def. not Dior homme.

I don’t get the hate for this cologne. Just tried it today and it’s actually pretty good. Works well for a daily general purpose scent. Smells, fresh and clean, mass appealing. Might be a tad too strong for some people, and maybe a little generic, but it’s not bad.

  46. :

    4 out of 5

I get why all the hate. People in constant quest for loudest, strongest, longest, fastest perfumes cannot grasp the quiet poetry of this one.
I was surprised how good this is, just cause of your hateful comments.
It’s a classy and subtle, floral scent, really gentlemanly.
Subtle with a character, it’s not some diluted eau d’.
It’s mature, yet peppy and full of hidden magic.
I don’t get the comparisons either – where do you smell dior homme or prada here?
This is a class of it’s own.
Just vaguely, I thought of ysl l’homme, or vintage dg pour homme, not because of literal similarity, but because of the style, although this one is even more sophisticated.
Subtle, classy and poetic, not a screaming monster for a highschool jock.

  47. :

    5 out of 5

My biggest problem with this scent seems to be everyone else’s reason for liking it: it’s a mix of Prada L’Homme and Dior Homme. To me it seems fairly insulting; recycling the name and bottle of your company’s greatest scent, and filling it with literally the most middle-of-the-road fragrance you can come up with. The people over at LVMH must have really focus tested this juice to death, because Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson are capable of SO MUCH BETTER.

  48. :

I didn’t think I would like Gentleman so much. The drydown smells completely different from the first sniff. I enjoy the opening notes, but I’m also pleased by how the scent evolves.

  49. :

    5 out of 5

I’m assuming all the dislikes are not due to people disliking the fragrance itself, rather these people dislike that it uses the name of a classic. If it was released under a different name the rating on here would be much different.
If you think you’d like a sharp, sweet, pear, iris scent with a slightly powdery dry down you should give this a test. Nothing game changing, but it smells very nice. Only complaint is it doesn’t have very strong projection, but it does last a long time on my skin. Safe scent that’d work it’s best day or night in any season other than summer.
As for price I would wait for a sale on this one as the retail price is too high in my opinion.

I don´t really get all this hate on this.
I smelled in the last months all the hyped fragrances like Sauvage, Dior Homme, Prada L´Homme, Valentino Intense……. and I found them all similar.
This fragrances tops these popular fragrances with a sweet spot which is very long lasting. I think it is smell between Prada L´Homme and Dior Homme, with a bit more patchouli – perfect for people who want to try something different what the crowd wears.
    I really like it!!

  51. :

I have so many perfumes and this is one of my newer buys. Although it smells a bit generic to begin with it soon gets into its own place once the top notes wear off. Although it surprisingly contains patchouli it’s not the traditional one that I am used to. It’s fresh and a bit powdery and the iris could perhaps be subdued a bit.

  52. :

    4 out of 5

I dunno why all the hate for this either. This smells really good. It’s actually an iris scent for people that don’t like iris. I really get that pear note clearly throughout the life of this one. That’s the main player here. I got a sample from a sales associate and didn’t think I’d like it, but gave it a wearing and it’s got me wanting a bottle.
I was reading the liner of the sample I got and noticed that pear wasn’t listed as one of the notes. That surprised me. Based on the notes, this appears to be a super powdery fragrance, but it’s not. If it were, I’d probably wouldn’t enjoy it. The iris in this reminds me of the iris in GIT. Doesn’t take the fragrance in that overly powdery direction.

not a special perfume but for sure doesn’t deserve all that hate I would say it’s safe and good for everyday use. I find it well balanced and easy to wear like many Givenchy perfumes. The mix of Pineapple and flowers makes it very smooth. I like the cardamom in the background.

Why not just call a scent like this Gentleman Today rather than use the name of a scent we all know it’s not going to smell like? Gentleman Only is a dumb name; why couldn’t they use Modern, Now, Today, Nouveau, or something along those lines, and then they could go for Extreme, Sport, L’Eau, etc. They are just making people angry by cranking out a scent similar to other recent releases that has little if anything to do with the original! And for those of us who care about the scent itself, if you are like me and enjoy this general idea but don’t want the lavender note (which is in what, 90% of “masculines” in large amounts?), then you can go for Halloween Man Shot – a 125 ml bottle of that one cost me less than $18 total less than a month ago. Why in the world would I want “Gentleman 2017?”

The opening, and you’ll without a doubt notice it, is beautiful. Embers of sweet pear and cardamom emerge simultaneously, with none being louder than the other, it’s just awesome how this perfume starts off. Barely 15 minutes later, this pear-carda duo burns off, completely! It’s literally not there anymore! The iris and lavender kick in, but unfortunately, there is a genericness to them that is too present to be ignored – the heart of this perfume smells like lavender petals tossed inside new plastic with lipstick smeared on it. It’s like after the top notes subside, all the other notes come crashing down on each other. The woodsy vibe becomes perceivable even before the heart notes make any statement, and then from there, linearity happens. Plastic and wood continue to be the utterance of this perfume until the end.
I totally see the source for the hate that this perfume is getting, and it’s understandable. I cannot judge the house or the nose behind it, but since the cradle of mankind, shit has always been known to happen.

If you like civet, castoreoum and stincky ones just don’t buy it, stick it to the original formula. This is for the young guys, 23,24,25,26,27, 30, 32… not for you

Setting aside the generic label that has been slapped on this one I have to say at least on paper it smelled pretty good. It was out of at least 6 fragrances this one stood out as best scent. All I can say is I will be looking forward to testing. Definitely give this a try
It’s a good bottle after a few wearings I realized it smells like eau fraiche/starwalker in the drydown background.

All you guys 50 years and over don’t sit and reminisce about a scent that has been repackaged and updated for the modern era. This scent is not made for you!!!! It is for the modern young man From 25-40. Generic? Probably. But does it get you compliments? YES! And that is all that matters.

Everything has already been said. What a shame Givenchy….

Generally it’s a good and safe masculine scent but so so common, a generic scent with weak performance. I wonder why they released this flanker. It could be any cheap generic scent from any infamous perfume house. But not from Givenchy. There is no comparison with the old wonderful scent. Not for me.

This is so generic and boring that I wonder what is really going on with their targeted customers. The original is a warm rainy day in a bottle, a suit’s jacket impregnated with GREAT cologne and cigars from a distinctive GENTLEMEN.
This is the same boring powdery iris (yes, DH), here with a dose of pear juice. Won’t make people turn their heads.

    A pathetic release from Givenchy.
Strong alcohol burns off into a chemical smell notorious with BAD designers and off kilt clone brands. Once the odorous chemicals break down there is a trace of fruit smell, undefinable from the listed notes. That lasts for an hour or two…..The End.
The same person that receives YSL “Y” for a gift should also be given this fragrance. Hey why hold back if you really dislike someone…..right ?

So I’ve been wearing this on skin today and i do not get the comparisons from Prada l’homme (my signature) or dior homme. If anything this reminds me of CH Men Prive but only fresher. I might generate some hate for saying this but I’m still gonna say it anyway, i absolutely hate the original gentlemen, it is my dad’s signature scent. Something about the civet note makes me think grandpa grandpa grandpa. If Givenchy is gonna replace the old gentlemen with this current gentlemen then I’d say good riddance ! I’d take this anyday over the old one.

It seems that all the dislike for this fragrance stems from the affinity we have for the original, and the idea that the original is being replaced with something completely different frustrates some of us. From that point of view alone I cannot fault people wanting to hit the dislike button.
I, myself, own the original (plus a backup bottle),
