A loud lemon at first but the drydown is really nice. First test, a shy 2 sprays didn’t last long at all and was gone in half hour (as the most colognes I tested). It had still beter longevity than Eau de Fleurs Cedrat Guerlain, the worse longevity in a fragance I know. 2e test on wrists, shoulders and neck stayed all evening as a skinscent. In the morning it was still there in the clothes. My first thought was… it does remind other colognes and it has a masculine edge. After a few minutes though it got a feminine side with aromatic notes and flowers. It has also a bit sweetness and a soapy note what gave me a feeling of freshness and after shower vibe. My boyfriend doesn’t like the most perfumes I have and everything is too strong for him. I asked him about this one after 3 hours apliccation, well he couldn’t smell anything, not even on my skin. Anyway, as I buy perfumes for myself this one goes to my want list.

This is my third review here. I can tell I have tried a lot of parfum in my young life of 30 now. Also I worked in a sensory lab for a short time and my nose is mostly very sensitive to some smells and odors.
I bought GENES by AdG in Germany for 90€/100ml after testing this again and again as sample to find a perfect cologne. This is maybe one of the best from the over 50 Cologne I know by now.Citrus, rose and some green spices open up like the typical Cologne by Acqua die PARMA but the ending is more flowery and deeper, kind of sweet spices and more special then any other Cologne out there. Perfect to mix with the Bodylotion of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino. Combined after my 12 hourd flight to Hong Kong i still smell gorgeous friends told me after arriving. You can buy this Fragrance also as a refreshing pack with 10 wet tissues if u travel.Whipe all over your body and enjoy it… cause it stays for hours! Stunning Cologne. It has a good longevity and deserves a try. The bottle is Classic and nice made but the golden lid looks a little bit cheap. Seems to be metal but it is just painted plastic. Still one Cologne with the super drydown that stays strong… Try it.
scent: 8,5/10
longevity: 7,5/10
sillage: 7/10

I wore this some years ago and quite liked it, but didn’t love it. All I remember from the smell is citruses.

When I first tried Genes, I thought- not for me, thank you.
But now I test it again, and I must say, Im really pleasantly surprised. It opens as a lovely citrus, a bit tart, a bit powdery, with some neroli and jasmine sweetness. A nice blend that actually works quite well on a rainy day. I like how the rosemary brings out the freshness and the herb-garden feeling to this one. The patchouli adds some earthiness, but is notoverpowering. All in all, it is similar to AG Eau d’Hadrien (or should I say, Eau d’Hadrien is similair to Genes)- both share the powderiness and the lovely citrus, but I prefer Genes thanks to the floral notes. Vintage citrus at its best.
As an EDC, it does not have an amazing longetivity, but it’s still quite decent.
