Okay. So, as I have reviewed this already (as cocolover56), be prepared for a total 180. I now love this. So, so much. Its confusing to me that I even said this smelt on par with Elizabeth Tayler’s Gardenia. I have a bottle of that and love it, but it can’t compare with this. Sorry, past me. You were wrong.
There is definitely something very Chanel about this fragrance and I’m only now beginning to recognize that. I’d still say it’s a rip off, but I’m not remotely mad about it anymore. There’s something sheer and delightful here, it’s nowhere near as green as Taylor’s and that coconut is actually detectable to me now. Definitely worth a try if you’re scared of the EDPs.
So glad that I held on to my 10mL decant. Really, really tempted to buy this at some point. Truly beautiful.

I have a bottle of the extrait because I love this scent…the scent itself is stellar but otherwise the quality is SO poor. This doesn’t happen often but I’m actually kinda mad I even paid for this. I can (and have) more or less poured this on myself and my clothing and it’s still gone within an hour. Sillage also extremely soft, which would be fine because I’m wearing this for myself, but it’s so fleeting it’s all but pointless. I wear a lot of natural perfume and essential oils and every single one of them outlasts this by at least double or triple the time. I don’t understand what they made this out of…

This is a warm gardenia and a fruity note reminiscent of strawberry up front. As it dries down the fruitiness dissipates and a freesia like note joins the gardenia along with a bit of creamy musk. The overall effect is clean, white and a bit shampoo-like. This is an atypical offering in terms of classic Chanels but it is in the same vein as Beige and 1932.

This is hilarious – it smells almost identical to Gardenia by Elizabeth Arden… which is $30. Beautiful, but so cheap.
Pls, Chanel, bring back the EdT because this … this. It’s pathetic, I’m sorry.
I guess I’ll stick to the parfum.

There is a mistake in the second paragraph : its 1932 and not gardenia which is reviewed.
It must be an “erreur d etourderie” and i hope it will be corrected soon.
Nonetheless it is interesting.
best regards.
Ophelien.

Gardenia is probably the only Chanel fragrance i never ever tried! Deemed it too feminine or nothing i would wear, i nevertheless tried the edp today on a paper strip and my jaw dropped; this can’t be a Chanel!
I dont know if the edt was different, but this smells nothing like a gardenia:( it’s so fruity, soapy, shampoo-ey, and weirdly tropical (smells a bit like moringa from the body shop)… as it dried down it got a bit more white floral, but still very one dimensional… no base whatsoever. Expected it to smell like a vintage film noir gardenia scent… disappointed and confused:/
scent: 6/10 🙁
longevity: 5/10
sillage: 5/10

Having compared EDT and EDP side by side, I can say that there are detectable differences. EDT is lightweight, innocent, and young. EDP is heavy on tuberose, giving off a sexy, mature vibe.
