I recently fell HEAD OVER HEELS in love with Ex Voto by the same house, and with some anticipation tried this one. It’s a well balanced and classically skilful fragrance (which I would like to try and see how it sits on my male partner’s skin), but to me it smelled like a softer version of Schoen’s Boudicca Wode, with less punch and less longevity. Considering the £80 difference in price, I know I will be favouring Boudicca.
Freudian Wood is green and full of spring, it has a mild warmth and an evenness to its tone which I could imagine would be quite attractive on male skin, but on me it pales beside the other which has stolen my heart. It is certainly worth sampling, as the quality of this perfumer seems to be extremely high, I will be trying others by them.

This is exceptional. It’s an abstract composition, and very well-blended; no one note stands out. I can only describe it as warm, light, milky, mildly spicy, mildly peppery, mildly woody, and very pleasant. One of the very best and most original fragrances I’ve come across in recent years.
Interestingly, Freudian Wood seems to have studied some of my favorite cult classics, but improved upon their faults: It’s got the light peppery sandalwood of Gucci Rush, but with much more longevity; it‘s got the sweaty scent of sex that Kingdom had, but less x-rated; it‘s got that mild coconut-tropical vibe of Santal Massoïa, but with more staying power; and it shares with Déclaration that warm but airy quality, but again with more staying power.
Projection-wise, it stays close to the skin, but it stays all day, radiating a continual glow of sensual warmth and sophistication. All in all, a pretty much perfect modern masculine/unisex scent with a bit of edge.

This is a breathtaking scent, mostly suitable for men. Very sensual and titillating. A large portion of ambergris beautifully underlines the fresh tones of sandalwood, milk and mimosa. Lovely.
