This is a surprisingly good straight up coffee on me… but what a deliciously addictive bitter-sweet quadruple espresso it is!! It’s intense, spicy, even sexy is a way good quality well blended patchouli can be. Try it!!

When I saw the notes I was smiling because I love to sweeten my coffee with maple syrup. So I naturally had to give this perfume a go.
I’m surprised clove is not mentioned in the notes. It’s very prominent to my nose. To me this fragrance is like a blast of high end foamy espresso plus Kenzo’s Elephant on steroids. Coffee, clove with its sweet spiciness and the maple’s sweetness. Warm, awakening, spicy, inviting. Definitely unisex. I am seriously considering a FB but I know I’ll have to fight over it with my husband cause he’ll like it too.

All that I can say, that I’m very impressed. I never thought I would type a post about coffee perfumes. Figuring out what to write wasn’t tough. Excellent scent! Crispy coffee beans, ground and roasted on dry, hot and precious bourbon windblow. Real blast of just roasted coffee, warm and dry, enriched with a drop of smoky Carmel Brandy (and well-behaved, not vulgar vanilla), shining with the rays of balsamic base, sparkling here and there a bit of sugar coating glaze, but with sugar notes grasped exactly at the moment of roasting, when sugar turns into wine caramel. Deep, noble, expressive scent. Interesting and worth trying. Not in mainstream. I mean – not used by everyone. Not like hundreds of other perfumes so-called “best-selling”, “best valentines day present”. That not a type of perfume you can find in advertisements at least five minutes a day on TV before Xmas. There is too much threadbare perfumes around, that people use en masse, ad nauseam. Therefore, Follow is high above boring mainstream. In intention – dedicated to male and female audience, but by its singular character will much better harmonise with women. Maybe because of connotes with smell of coffee press machine, with relaxing afternoon and spending the moments on domestic chitchats over coffee with female friend, with extra glass of sherry and smooth smell of balsamy vanilla candles in the background. Longevity quite decent. Silage as well. I can still sense a smell of Follow on my sweater and scarf – few days after use.

This is a strong *love* for me. I’ve been working off a decant that I got a few months ago, and have worn it several times – and it hasn’t disappointed me yet.
I get an initial blast of bitter, dark coffee. The first time I tried it, it stopped me in my tracks. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the force of full on coffee seemed a bit too strong and bitter to work as a perfume. It was bracing, to say the least!
It quickly (within minutes) settles down into a deep, creamy, rich, yummy scent that smells like coffee with dark chocolate melted in to it. It’s creamy, not black coffee, with a good dose of vanilla. Like you’ve taken coffee and chocolate, and then poured in almost as much creamer.
Luckily for me, I don’t really get the amber at all. I’m a little surprised, because I’m finding amber often doesn’t work for me at all. But, whatever amber is in here isn’t noticeable to me at all.
I also get amazing longevity – if I put on Follow in the morning, I can still smell it, easily, the next morning. (I tend to spray on my chest, under my shirt, so some fragrance is transferring and that is likely helping longevity. But, compared to other perfumes, I find Follow lasts better/longer, for me.)
And, I’m always curious when reading reviews – so I’ll add that I’m a female, and a light sprayer in general.

This offering from Kerosene is one of the strangest perfumes I have even smelled. Right off, I get a big blast of French roast coffee bean, the kind where they roast it nearly black and all the oils rise to the surface. This is mixed with a sweet toffee or vanilla and sticky amber.
It has an undercurrent of something I cant identify.
It goes on very potent, and projects more then arms length, but this is short lived, as it’s a skin scent within a few hours on me.
If you are looking for a good coffee fragrance, this is the one you want to try.
Personally, I do like to ware it around the house, but wouldnt want to go to the office smelling like a coffee bean.
As all perfumes in the Kerosene line-up, this is very different and unique. You may get some reactions like, ‘do you work in a coffee house’.. LOL
I do recommend trying a small decant to start. Would not blind buy this.

I’ve given this a few wearings now and while I like it, I have to admit I’m not overly impressed. Not much development and not as long lasting as I would have hoped. while not a bad fragrance by any stretch of the imagination I think there are better offerings in this “genre” – Mancera’s Aoud Cafe comes to mind as being the more pleasurable option.
timypka – :
comes off as scorched to me, although the coffee note is spot on. i get nothing other than burnt beans.
au2691 – :
The opening is great, but after that its all down hill for me.
Starts off with a almost imagine if say coffee was a beer, champagne, or wine. You pour it and you get a ton of foam or “bloom” and its delicious, rich, thick, creamy and intense…
But this is short lived.
After that it reminds me a lot of another fragrance…. Espresso royale.. Now I know some people like that, but im in the camp that does not, as a matter of fact I dont even really think it smells like coffee. This is a little bit better, and I certainly do get more of a coffee smell than that, and it never goes into the ginger snap cookie if you will vibe of ER but….
I dunno its like I get some sorta stale, left on the ground, coffeeish candy. Its bitter and just not very enjoyable.
Theres also a bit of a fresh aspect to it as well. Im not sure exactly what it is, but I guess looking at the notes maybe its the sort of benozin used giving it a smokey freshness if you will.
Personally I think this goes into novelty territory. And in terms of novetlyish coffee scents, Tonkacinno, and Baristas legendary are better smelling scents to me. Certainly this is a much more straight up black coffee sorta smell than those, its just that after the opening I dont think its a particularly good smelling fragrance. But if you like ER or Sensei sorta coffee smelling scents this might be worth checking out.
Performance like most kerosenes that ive tried seemed good.

I thought I’d never be too excited again about a coffee-gourmand perfume, but how wrong I was! Follow got the best opening among all coffee based scents that I’ve tested so far! So real, so smooth and inviting – just perfect…
The drydown is more vanilla-syrupy in a very pleasant and comforting way. The reason I’m in love with this fragrance is the warm feeling, the wonderful cozy atmosphere that creates around me.
Seeing such a nice guy, an ex-youtube reviewer to make a masterpiece scent as Follow – it’s like a dream come trough for all perfume enthusiasts around the world. He just proved he’s on the right track.
Kerosene, well done!
dimasik93 – :
Just compared to Pure Coffee side by side, and Follow makes that one smell like a simple fougere!
I have to reiterate that this is the MOST coffee you’ll ever get in a fragrance! The opening is the most amazing part which smells like intense caramel latte, then settles right away into a toffee-like coffee candy. It’s very sweet but not cloying (unless you over-spray), and definitely one of the best coffee-gourmand!
Unfortunately due to its nature, it’s not as calming or sophisticated as Pure Coffee.

Every once in a while, you smell and are enveloped in a luxurious and rich scent that makes you close your eye, slow down, and just breathe in the beauty of the notes that you catch. It makes you smile every time you smell it. As you breathe it in, it takes you to your perfume happy place.
A good perfume has a nice smell. A great perfume has layers and an aroma that you want to savor and that is what I get with ‘Follow’ by House of Kerosene. Initially your olfactory senses are pleased with the yummy smell of coffee beans and as your first cranial nerve is further tickled, your interest is peaked and then the layers come…vanilla and amber…ummm.

Back in the seventies, in the UK and Ireland, we had this thing called Camp Coffee, a Scottish product, a liquid alternative to instant coffee, containing caffiene-free coffee and chicory essence. It had been around for quite a while, but became popular due to a real coffee bean price hike back then. My grandmother used it to flavour coffee cake icing, and in that respect alone, was it okay.
This, upon initial impression, reminds me of that, unfortunately.
I hope testing more gives me more positive results, but for now, less coffee shop aroma, more disappointing, uncalled for nostalgia.
Update: A bit less sweet and clodding in the drydown, this is probably fine for those without a camp coffee scent association.

This is up front coffee then booze. It is gourmand and lovely. If you love boozy coffee scents, this one is for you. As with most Kerosenes, I love them but they don’t last. For the money, I want more longevity. But, for those into the Mugler A*men and Pure series, they wish they smelled like this.
coepepymn – :
This is definitely a coffee dominant fragrance but it smells like the coffee beans have been ground and left to sit out a bit too long.
It’s as if I’ve walked into a coffee shop before closing and they are just starting to clean up some of the coffee spills left by other customers throughout the day.
I actually like it but I do wish it was sweeter and creamier.

The latest release from Kerosene prompted me to finally try the house out—in addition to the sample for Follow that I was sent (with a couple others I ordered), several samples were included that I did not order, so that’s always a nice start.
On the fragrance itself, Follow is a coffee-dominant gourmand that includes the variety of sweet notes shown above. I don’t get many of the sweet notes distinctly, but the amber/benzoin/sap side is certainly in balance with the vanilla, as neither aspect is dominant, and it does come off ever so slightly as powdery, a nod to the tonka.
It doesn’t evolve much on my skin, remaining in balance throughout its dry down, and I like this, as the fragrance doesn’t begin too sharp or harsh or sweet to require resolution in the first place.
Follow is probably the sweetest coffee-dominant fragrance I’ve tried. I own several coffee fragrances, and they’re all some variation of more acerbic, darker, spicier, boozier, or simply less sweet, but among these, Follow is much sweeter, for comparison’s sake, than: Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Coffee, Sebastiane Espresso Royale, Gallagher Fragrances Carpe Cafe, Legendary Fragrances Barista, or Piotr Czarnecki Sensei.
In that it’s sweetly different from the other coffee options above, I intend to purchase a bottle of Follow.

Agreed; why is that blue “dislike” bar so long? Who has smelled this?

All the notes sound fabulous! Who doesn’t love coffee! The maple sap and all the other notes are making my heart skip a beat and my mouth water! I want to test this!!
