EDP version: Imagine one of the secretly visited, hidden smoky bars in Cuba. Everyone who is a citizen knows that you can get and organize everything there. The stuff, the girl, the dirty job. You enter the door and you feel stuffy stillness in the air cut timidly by two, large dilapidated filthy fans. Music is quietly soaking and the matcho men with their faces asking for a decent razor sitting curtly in their large deep armchairs and tough chairs. And there among others, sits the Matcho. The boss among bosses. Smoking his large, best in class cigar. Drinking his rum. Not speaking a word. And wearing Flibustier, pirating his city.

I suppose you could say this is Galimard’s take on the YSL’s Opium Pour Homme/Penhaligon’s Love Potion No.9 theme–only here, it’s done with a dusty amber-patchouli accord laced with nutmeg, allspice, and incense that gives it a more mature (not “old,” by the way, I find this very wearable and overall well-complimented, and I’m still in my 20s) feel, and plusher texture
Something in this, perhaps that ambery patchouli, also calls to mind both Prada Amber (original for women) and Amber Pour Homme Intense, though there is nothing particularly feminine or *overtly* incensy about this Galimard creation.
Really lovely stuff, well done, and great value for money.
This is what I’d hoped for out of both Opium Pour Homme and Amber Pour Homme Intense. Two fragrances worlds apart, united in one.

Flibustier is very warm, smoky, and spicy.
Galimard’s amber accord features a very strong smoky element, and it’s all over this one. The scent ends up smoky and sweet, with the spices and patchouli strong in the drydown – if you’re a patchouli lover, you’ll love this.
So, sweet/smoky/spicy – a total win for me. The price is amazingly low and the quality is high, longevity is great and the sillage fills my apartment. Galimard makes some damned fine scents.
P.S. The translation of “Flibustier” is “Pirate.” Has nothing to do with politics or speeches. Yaaaar!

Flibustier is hard to describe, even though it has a simple pyramid and distinctive notes. The combination of all the notes is wonderful, they complement each other, nothing stands out too much.
Certain aspects remind me of Opium pour Homme EdT indeed, less light, and no fruity aspects. Think of Obsession for Men mixed with Opium pour Homme, with a smooth but not too sweet cinnamon note, balanced with earthy patchouli, and a nice amber/vanilla base.
It has become one of my favourites, longevity and sillage are decent, and the price is unbeatable. If you can spend some more bucks, try the Eau de Parfum version.
