I prefer this one over f black just because of being fan of dirty vibes in fragrances… I like the amber note that makes this fragrance incensey like the incense in Acqua Di Gio Profumo

This fragrance is so underrated and so unknown, it’s ridiculous!
I can honestly say that this is one of my most complimented fragrances. Ever.
It manly, spicy, and at the same time very unique and very ‘niche’ smelling. I can’t recommend this one enough! Especially if you consider the price..
    9/10

Can hardly decide anything based on the comments below…
Is it worth a blind buy? This one or Black version?
    Thanks!

too strong for me..dont buy unless you smell it first..it’s one of those “in your face” perfume..everyone will noticed you using this perfume..for some,it might cause headache even with minimal spray of one or two..

I would really wanna see fragrances are rated by blind contests, just like blind testing wines, NO name or brand involved, just the scents and the smells compete with each others. I bet that some big houses or big names won’t like the results.
F by Ferragamo is an underrated fragrance for men. We are really happy with it. It has a classy scent and so good in its inoffensive way, not bold, nor loud in the face. It is gentle, pleasantly calm and friendly.
If you are so used to Invictus, Versace, Creed and Chanel…, then this one is “boring” to you for sure. But I personally would not trade it for any one of those.

This one is clean and perfect for semi-formal and casual business events, not offensive for the office and all those working scenarios where you don’t want to present yourself like a clown! Very clean, fresh, masculine and not in your face fragrance! For this price you can make it your office environment fragrance by keeping the professional character and charisma!

I also get some similarities with Terre d’Hermes, think of that scent, but with the apple instead of the orange.
It’s a soft and smooth fragrance, I really pick up a lot of apple and some leather, the lavander it’s there but like an aftertaste, in the beginning, then it becomes a bit more present.
It’s clean, sweet and a bit aromatic, perfect for the office or closed environments where you don’t need to be noticed, since the sillage is really minimal.
I find it even a bit sexy, because of the lavander and the apple
Not my cup of tea, but the more I smell it, the more I like it.

My first impression was that “F” smells like Terre d`Hermes.
    I’ll give it some time.

Has a strong initial powdery lavender scent which quickly settles down to a sophisticated lavender.

Unfortunately Salavatore Ferragamo’s men’s line was rather average until the Tuscan Scent line came out. . This is probably his top scent along with Uomo, Leather Rose, and Golden Acacia. I feel Aqua essenziale is prob top 5 for him. Subtil, attimo, free time, F black, Salvatore Ferragamo and essenziale blu are all average to below average. I do like this scent, it’s a good daily wear. Not sure why reviewers are comparing this to Allure, i’m hoping you realize how many different allure’s their actually are if you’re comparing this to any of them??? I’d like to think this is a good scent: 7.75/10.
This is one of the better Salvatore Ferragamo men’s fragrances. It’s versatile enough for work, night out, or wedding, prob won’t make your top 10, but definitely can stay in your rotation if you have a larger collection.

Salvatore Ferragamo F by Ferragamo Pour Homme is very much a Dior Sauvage prototype like David Beckham Homme. Except that it subtracts the main bergamot and anbroxan notes. Instead, you get a scent that leads to its F Black flanker with an apple shampoo. I find it also has similarities to L’Homme too though like Sauvage it is apple based versus citrus.
F by Ferragamo Pour Homme is very much barbershop. It smells like maybe a Great Clips or a Supercuts, a unisex modern barbershop. That said the main knock I have is performance. It smells on the lighter side and I get five hours out of it. It’s good in an office setting or casual wear but that’s it. Maybe a summer formal day scent but that’s pushing it.
Overall I have to give F by Ferragamo Pour Homme a like and a 7.4 out of 10. It’s a nice spring summer lighter day scent but that’s it.

Smells like apple and little bit of lavender. Smells very cheap. Like Garnier shampoo. Honestly I regret every moment I decided to go for this cheapie. Costed me around 17€ in a discounter and it was like picking the paper and throwing it directly to the bin.
PD: Has nothing to do with Terre as others have pointed out. When I say nothing I say not even remotely close.

Lavender-ish Amber-y scent reminiscent of Allure. Another in my collection this is in the vein of, Perry Ellis M.
In my collection I kind of have the strong sweets like Le Male, and Eros that sort of scream sexuality for places like clubs etc. They have mad projection.
Allure, Perry Ellis M, and F by Ferragamo are something more subtle. Not screamingly gourmand, or sweet powerhouses, but it’s there.
You aren’t quite edible and won’t stand out in a crowd, but if anyone is in your vicinity at the office, they’ll pick up your sexiness. It’s just not sexiness in your face, it’s subtle enough for work, or professional settings. So, its about as sexy as you want to get for settings and situations that are not typically sexual. That’s the appropriate time for this scent.
This, Allure, Perry Ellis M, are all equal in my eyes. Frankly, I probably prefer the F. Gotta appreciate the creator of this fragrance and his nose. If it were done by Chanel or Dior it would be classic. Ferragamo should be recognized in that class. Again, see the nose’s behind this F and Acqua Essenziale line. There is no better pedigree. Top notch stuff.

I think this fragrance smells great. Something about it is addictive and smooth. It leans more towards a synthetic smell but it isn’t harsh. Its a smooth and masculine fresh fragrance with a little spicy twinge. The lavender is the main component where everything else is blended around it. I really like the scent. It has a little bit of a soapy fresh quality about it too..
Performance seems pretty good thus far, but I am only testing from a sample sprayer. From what I can tell the performance seems above average. I think this is an underrated fragrance. I like the smell of this one better than dior sauvage.. Masculine, fresh, spicy, slightly soapy, versatile, smooth. It is in the same genre or ball park as allure homme type smell but not as rugged.. Somewhere in between allure sport and allure homme.
EDIT: you can get sick of the smell though if you use it too much or too many sprays.. Just be easy on the trigger.. It can get a little synthetic. still like it tho!
    Scent 4.5/5
    Performance 4/5

Fruits and lavender. At first blasts not a huge fan. When it settles its a bit better. Women like this scent. But dont overspray it. This radiates off my skin in a very loud fashion.I can smell it around me off three to four sprays for at least 4 hours.

This is a very pleasant fragrance. It smells like mostly amber after the first 30 minutes. Not much of a projection.Safe to wear to work place.

I really don’t get the Oriental Woody classification. The most oriental (and only) thing on this one surely it’s pepper; but that’s where it ends.
In my senses it’s a soapy-fruity fragrance, and as some reviewer before said, much like an apple shampoo with strong lavender in the opening. As is gets to the drydown the lavender note calms down a bit and emerges what I assume it’s a leather-floral-resin accord which gives some depth to the scent.
In conclusion all I can say is that this is a overly synthetic perfume, not much more complex than a shampoo or a deo, and for surely not worth the money since it’s just a step below in terms of cost than much more interesting frags (YSL L’homme line for example).
    ————————————-

This has been reformulated FOR SURE. The early renditions of this circa 2008-9 had a very prominent rosy apple note which was pervasive throughout the scents life. The current version is just synthetic lavender, which is why it goes for such rock bottom prices at discount stores. It debuted at Nieman’s initially back in 2008. I suspect the fragrance was reformulated around 2011.

Just picked up a 1.7 oz bottle for $10 at TJ MAXX a few hours ago. Very, very, very awesome scent. I do get the Terre D’ Hermes vibe but this one smells more like something the younger crowd would wear IMO. This could make a killer day or night scent. Casual yet seductive. It screams confidence if you ask me. The sillage won’t fill a room but it’s there.
This is my 3rd frag by Salvatore Ferragamo and so far, my favorite. I have Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme & Attimo Pour Homme, both great scents, but “F” will get much more action in my rotation.
big projection for a couple of hours. Skin scent afterwards. On me, longevity is around 6 hours. Not bad considering I have poor chemistry/performance with most frags and it’s winter here in New England so my skin is naturally drier right now.
    *solid 7/10*

This fragrance is not one I own but have a decanted sample of. The smell of this is ok. It’s spicy with the pepper notes. It’s a little sweet. I’m surprised that this has “apple” note as a top note because I usually don’t like fragrances with apple combined with some other notes, but this one is different. I like this but not enough to get more of it, even in decanted samples.

For years, I’ve heard and read several compliments on this cologne. But just now, about 8 years after its launch (2007), I decided to carry out the appropriate tests in order to write and publish my review.
This fragrance was created by Olivier Polge and has, in its composition, notes of lavender and Apple, in the output; black pepper from Madagascar, in the heart; labdanum, at the base. However, it is not difficult to find other pages mentioning the presence of amber, tonka beans and leather, also at the base. Perhaps, such information is linked with the reformulation that occurred after 2010, whose bottle brings the letters in silver, instead of red (the original, which I tested).
It is considered an oriental-Woody fragrance, but to me is oriental-fruity, since the Apple note is very strong in the output. The lavender is more neutral, but you can perceive it balancing the initial fruity tone. For some minutes, when the central part of the fragrance emerges and develops, the pepper is very good, indeed. However, during this stage, I found the fragrance very common and a bit synthetic. And I think that great part of the compliments comes from there, since it’s already proved that most people prefer basic and common scents, rather than fragrances that are extremely elaborated and full of strong notes, like those of Arabian origin, for example. And that’s not bad, it’s just a matter of choice and taste.
Returning to the subject, I liked better when the evolution arrived at the base, reaching the ambery nuances of labdanum, giving a slight creaminess to the final result.
It projected and lasted very well on my skin and proved to be a versatile scent. I think it’s an excellent choice for professional environments. Worth knowing.

I didn’t get too excited with this. The smell is soft lavender with just a hint of green apple. I get a powdery vibe as well, perhaps the labdanum. In fact, before I looked up the notes I swore this had cardamom because it reminded me a lot of La Nuit which I own but am very underwhelmed with. This juice, however, is much lighter and soft than La Nuit. Sillage is pretty much just a skin scent throughout for me. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing this.

This is a fresh, aromatic, lavender scent. It projects well. Nothing unique, but it is a safe, masculine, enjoyable scent. I found this at a big box retailer for very little money.

It starts out nice, with a mildly leather note that reminded me of some Gucci scents. Masculine and deep.
Then, after about an hour, that miserable apple note takes over. At least I *think* it’s an apple note, or, probably more accurately, the aroma molecule that’s intended to be an apple note. But to me it smells synthetic and unnatural. I’ve smelled it before in too many other scents and I just don’t like it. So that ruins this fragrance for me.

Very spicy lavender and sweet apples, smells kinda soapy at first but gets really warm at the 20 minute mark. Extremely manly, yet can get overpowering. Its very long lasting (8 hours) and the pepper stands out a lot. Projection is pretty darn good, about 3 hours. It isnt for everyone! this fragrances is extremely peppery and can get intolerable for some. I use it a lot during the day : ) extremely versatile. 8/10

  33. :

I blind bought a one ounce bottle of this because it’s super cheap and I am a fan of anything with a prominent lavender note and some dirtyness … and after testing it I appreciated the lavender paired nicely with pepper and sharp green herbal notes with a dry-down of something approaching wood & leather.
It’s a fairly balanced fragrance considering the price tag and the initial burst of lavender is refreshing and invigorating. The pairing of lavender with pepper and bitter herbs adds a sophisticated lean and adds energy to the composition. The sweet note is a little too similar to a shampoo type note.
If you like lavender with some depth, a touch of dark dirtiness and some sharpness with a bit of something soap/fruit sweet that dries down to a woody leather – give it a try.

  34. :

I love this perfume. the apple and pepper notes in accord with the lavender and labdanum creates something that is fresh but very soothing at the same time. I love pepper as a note and it is put to very good use here. F has good sillage and excellent longevity, easily 8 hours plus on me and is versatile enough to suit just about any occasion except maybe ultra formal ones,(I wouldnt wear this to a funeral!) 8.5/10. love it.
Edit- I was at an outdoor concert the other day with my family and one of my Mum’s older friends actually leaned in to smell me closer and said I smelled gorgeous. This one just went up another notch in my estimation!

I’m quoting teadot below: “unremarkable, albeit agreeable”. Smells nice, nothing special. The drydown is a bit more exciting, but by then the fragrance is very weak. I’ve only used 2-3 sprays at each time so far.
EDIT: tried it again today, 5-6 sprays on neck and chest. Sitting in the office, I smell good, but I can’t identify if it’s the EdT or just my shower gel 😀 and I have to stick my nose on the inside of my shirt. With other fragrances (the completely different smelling Encre Noire for example) you can feel it sort of lingering around your body. Don’t get that with this one.

  36. :

    4 out of 5

    F is for…?.
Olivier Polge (whose compositions I always highly anticipate) levitates a promising leather and apple accord -on top an ozonic cloud of pepper. But the result is unremarkable, albeit agreeable. I kept hoping for a more assertive “Combo” to come along and save this fragrance from Pleasantville. But alas, the all too synthetic leather (or rather “pleather” note), misplaced in the “base” of it’s note pyramid, never showed up much in the sillage of this fragrance. Nor anywhere else beyond my subconscious. Which leaves this fragrance defenseless in the “Ring” -against similarly styled (office friendly House signatures) like the superior YSL L’homme, Guerlain’s mojito-inspired “Homme”, or heck, even “Bvlgari Man” !
Good luck, “F”. As the Mens fragrance market closes in on you… That “F” may take on a Whole… New… Meaning… (LOL).
    Longevity: 8/10 (in base)
    Projection (Summer temperatures): 7/10
(more detectable to others than myself)
Art/Creatives: 7/10 (bottle, concept, and scent)
How: Spring and Summer, day, business, office,
everyday, casual social, a great work horse fragrance.

Prada STOLE this scent..removed the floral and made it less sweet to create LUNA ROSA..this has better projection, better longevity, stronger scent..as this dries down the extreme sweetness leaves and is what LUNA ROSA wish it was..I do like this fragrance..and so do the ladies.

After applying it I didn’t notice any projection!! I sniffed my arm. The scent was there but without any projection. First I thought that my sample is fake but it was not. After 15 minute it start to project.
In the opening note the lavender scent is the first thing that I recognized. The pepper scent was also in the opening but it is not strong. After around 45 minute the scent of pepper became more prominent. I’m a little allergic to pepper. This stage of the scent sometimes make me to sneeze.
The dry-down note is less peppery and very interesting. Because of the pepper I think it is more suitable for spring and autumn.
Beautiful scent but too peppery for someone like me how are allergic to some spices. By the way I can say this scent is unique. Few people use these kind of perfumes here in my country.
It doesn’t project very well on my skin. Maybe it doesn’t work on my skin. i can smell it on my skin after 5 hours but it’s very faint.
I wish it were less peppery. If you do not have any problem with pepper, give it a try 😉

UPDATE: To add to my earlier comments, I find Ferragamo Pour Homme more to my liking over the Black in my opinion.
What attracts me to this cologne more is the woodsy/amber scents over the sweet scent in the Black. Very Sexy ;)))))
I’m not suggesting that the Black is no good, I personally prefer the first Ferragamo Pour Homme instead of a spin off.
The two main different notes between the two is the floral and Tonka Beans in the Black over the leather and amber scent in the original version.
I like the warm spicy aroma with appeal of leather without a doubt which gives this fragrance a real masculine base.
When I tried the Black in the store, I felt like I was almost buying the same perfume with very subtle differences.
Overall, I like a men’s cologne to have some depth and come across as being distinct.
Ferragamo Pour Homme is just that
Longevity is excellent well past 7 hour’s and sillage is very good.
To sum it up, I asked several women which they prefer, two of the three preferred the original because they like the deep notes in men’s colognes and not sweet notes.

It’s sweet, fruity, warm, definetely get that amber in there. It’s good for night time use. Stays on for a while, projects good. Btw I read several people comparing it to “Terre Hermes”, and I don’t see why, this is powdery and Terre is way stronger more over; woodier than this. Try it.

Considered in several pages, as oriental, I can not feel it with this classification.
F is a fresh fruity scent, notes of lavender and apple are part of the opening, but are very evident in all its phases.
In the body, enters the pepper lightly warming and labdanum which leaves this scent with a background mineral, medium camphorated, this interesting mix is well combined with the previous notes, something I feel comfortable and somewhat velvety. Unique and delightful.

I smelled it many times in department stores and it smells good. But I find it close to Burberry Brit, it is in that line of odors which is somehow “feminine”. Yet, I find Brit lasts longer. I am afraid of buying it and getting nothing new to my collection.

  45. :

I disagree. Terre D’Hermes and F are totally different.
TERRE (woody): woody, earthy, unique, calm, elegant, gentle and sophisticated.
Vetiver, Orange, grapefruit, cedar, benzoin and pepper.
F By Ferragamo (oriental): Sexy, sweet scent amber, hot, elegant.
Labdanum, apple, lavander, leather, amber and pepper.
F and Terre are very good fragrances but very different smells.
    It’s my opinion.

F is a very suitable name for this scent as the result of the scent is just that. it is completely a “get laid” cologne. be cautious hen wearing it out at night as it may cause extreme attention from the opposite sex. also be careful where you spray it on you, pulse points, minus the down-low ones…

Such an underrated fragrance, whenever I get complimented on it and asked what I’m wearing, people are always scoobied when I tell them f by ferragamo. A very unique smelling scent that nothing else in my collection resembles, has great projection and lasts a long time. 8/10

I dont think this is fruity nor shampoo-ey as some have described. Only the apple gives it a bright sweet fresh smell which makes this very unique thats the closest to fruity it gets. But the fragrance becomes a very clean masculine scent with its leather and woody notes. A very strong projection due to its pepper, Even metrosexual for its soft and unique take and with lavender & Labdanum giving it its luxury and soft touch. But shampooey and fruity? No, people just dont have good noses if you get that out of this masterpiece.

To me, this smells very shampoo-ey, fruity, and nose-tickling. I have two vial samples and both of them had this swimming pool feel to them, and there is definitely apple in the composition. I don’t understand the description “Woody Oriental”! To me, this is soapy and fruity. Maybe my samples went rancid.

I recently discovered that there are two different versions of this one out. Saw it a few weeks ago at the local Ferragamo shop.
One is with the letters written in red, the newer version in silvery/gold like.
Also they smell different and NO i don’t mean the black version.
The older (red) version has no pepper in it, or at least I don’t smell it.

I have two samples of this, and it seems like a good fragrance, very unique, but for some reason it reminds me of shampoo. It also makes me think of pool water… not in a bad way, it’s just something I wouldn’t particularly want to smell like. But maybe my samples are just bad, but whatever. I’d give it a 6/10 in my tastes.

I have to change my opinion on this after wearing it numerous times. It’s really very good, and is reminiscent of Terre D’Hermes. It has that same freshness of TdH, but not all the vetiver. Very fresh, light, but still noticible. F has less of the pungent quality that TdH possesses. It starts off fresh with the apple note, and just exudes an incredible freshness all around, supported by the leather and labdanum. From a distance it’s the freshest fragrance you’ll find anywhere, but when you get closer, you can detect the warm spiciness. I love it, and I received a nice compliment just the other day. Definite sillage.

The wood and pepper and leather is what makes this fragrance sexy and masculine. The green apple is what makes it pop and sweet and overall unique

so i am a WOMAN and i wear this perfume, though it is so masculine ! as to my surprise everybody says this perfume fits me very well ! and nobody guesses that it is actually a totally masculine scent.
to the notes: f is very spicy, though the fresh green apple gives this composition this kick of freshness which i love ! the lasting power is amazingly long ! even after showering i still feel this beautiful scent !
this perfume reminds me of freshness and cleanliness !
and as i say, everybody just falls in love with it !
it is very catchy and i dont wear it everyday, only to special events because for me it is quite POSH !!!! 🙂
    enjoy !

Pretty much like Eau de Merveilles, not TDH.
I can’t stand this. I just love TDH.

OK…i don´t know why the salesperson put a sample of this in my bag. But i am happy with it…
This stuff is really sexy ..ohh soooo goood! flowery-herbaceus…the labdanum and leather makes this such a sexy perfume..wow i am amazed!
And it smells great in my skin! i think women can use it, the drydown is beautiful. I LOVE IT. I just used one dab , and the sillage is ok for just that..the lasting power…around 4 hours.
EDIT: I discovered what the drydown is….it is CHANEL 19! Just look at the notes!!! labdanum and leather !!!! wow they were really clever!!!! the drydown is sooo similar to chanel 19..and i wore it for one year..and got tired of it. Well maybe i should get a bottle of CH19 again 🙂

This EDT has a sober and elegant aroma. His notes are very strong entry with a tendency to ferns and lavender, its middle notes evoke a more intense fougere aromatic, that an oriental woody aromas dominate sober little dry and woody. Pareene Base notes are more like a woody oriental with thin wood tones but still with a hint of dry smell like incense.
A choice of scent rather elegant, sophisticated yet ripe, not suitable for people under 35, I use it more advisable to a dark suit, a good business meeting or a formal dinner, it makes little sense used sometimes casual, is a very dense and dry aroma. Recmendable for use at night.

In essence, pretty much like Terre D’Hermes, but with very, very low longevity. This fragrance lasts for 2 hrs on my skin.

I own hermes terre and this one,They are twins.
Hermes terre is more masculine and sharp,Ferragamo is fresher and younger with the lavender and green apple.
    I prefer ferregamo than hermes.

It’s a sweeter version of Terre d’Hermes. For me it’s a mix of Terre and Chanel Allure Homme with a lot of sythetics.

This one was totally a nice surprise for me: starts like a classic masculine smell, with a lovely bitter-fruity-sweet combination of aromatic (lot of lavender and green apple), spicy (cardamom) & sweet notes (labdanum), that wakes you instantly and set you ready to go out for the day.
On the way to dry down it feels just a bit like YSL BK and some of the serious aura of Terre d’Hermes but overall this is much fresher (apple) & herbal (lavender), sitting on a wonderful long-lasting base that is musky-leathery-bitter/sweet (if it’s make any sense). One of my nice blind buy frags. My rank 7.7/10. ☣☣☣

DKNY Men 2009 and Ferragamo F pour Homme I tried three or four times so far, and I see both as a fresh-watery scent, with a sharp accord that is predominant in both of them. This accord in DKNY I see as spicey one, and here it is just a little bit flowery. Not bad, but doesn’t say very much to me.

Fresher version of Terre. But don’t overapply it. Good for colder temperature.

This has great staying power on me. I get the sharp burst of fresh cut apple then I love how it mellows out to the leather, amber and flowery smell but not in a feminine way at all. I can’t smell any simularities to Terre D’Hermes at all.

Good fragrance and a valuable add-on to collector’s wardrobe. It is a subtle and bit sweeter version of Terre d’ Hermes for sure. But
