Description
Exquisite Embroidery is a fragrance that represents artisanal embroidery on lavish and heavy fabrics. It opens with fresh and spicy ginger – nutmeg combination, leading to the oriental rose – patchouli heart, settling on the base of ambergris, oud and musk. The composition is developed by perfumer Hamid Merati.
Yves Saint Laurent dedicated a special collection of perfumes to its famous pieces of clothing. Le Vestiaire des Parfums line premiered in fall 2015 with five editions, followed by the first sub-collection Le Vestiaire des Parfums Collection de Nuit in September 2016 with three new fragrances. In September 2017, a new line within this concept will be available at selected stores worldwide – Le Vestiaire des Parfums Oriental Collection – featuring five new perfumes inspired by de designer’s trips, mostly to Morocco.
Available as a 75 ml Eau de Parfum.
The nose behind this fragrance is Hamid Merati-Kashani.

YSL is doing a really good job lately with those prive-niche lines of perfumes, of high prices but limited availability.
I fell in love with Exquisite Embroidery. This is really nice and interesting. Opens with lots of roses and then settles down to nutmeg with hints of musc and patchouli. I am not sure if I would say that this is a rose perfume because the dry down leads more to the gourmand side. Rose perfumes make me feel a bit uncomfortable to pull them off but this one was really wonderful. A solid love from me.

I just realized it’s the same rose + ambergris combo as Dior’s Ambre Nuit! Would be interesting to compare the two 🙂
Anybody knows any other notable rose+ambergris?

I tested this in Selfridges yesterday – will admit that it was only via paperstrip. It smelled like roses but somehow not intriguing enough to allow the SA spray it on my skin. It may transform on skin, may not, guess others will have to see it for themselves. 🙂
P.S Myself a big rose fan and have tested hundreds or rose fragrances over the years. I’ll stick to what I have for now 🙂
