dry, powdery anise, patchouli vanilla scent

Annoyingly much like the vanilla-powder you use for baking a cake (at least here in skandinavia) but with a strange twist towards darkness & mud. So sticky and sweet but still i can not understand that amber or patchouli is NOT written , even in the base.
A vanillic monster thats deeply connected to Amouage Epic to my nose

Meraviglioso. Magico.

I got this one quite by accident, so I didn’t have any expectations. And after wearing it for several days, I have to say it’s been pretty hard to form a definite opinion – the Essence of Reminiscence doesn’t give up its secrets easily. It’s pretty hard to describe but I’ll do my best.
It starts with what feels to me like quite an oldfashioned kind of vibe, cool and very “perfume-like” and even vaguely animalic: looking at the notes pyramid none of this makes much sense, and it’s pretty surprising. This only lasts for a couple of minutes, though, and what follows makes much more sense in regards to th elist of notes: the scent starts to warm up on the skin almost immediately, and before long it has morphed into its powdery, spicy heart. This is where I recognize a bit of a general likeness with Do Re, the only other Reminiscence I’ve tested so far. It’s different because of the prominence of the aniseed and other spices, but it has the same cosy, powdery base: just a bit reminiscent of playdoh in a good way, even though there are no almonds involved in this one. Eventually it ends up where so many cold weather gourmands do: in that familiar, comfortable vanilla drydown that I love however many times I encounter it.
So I like Essence: I think I smell nice, it’s obviously high quality and it has exemplary longevity (it easily lasts all day) and projection (it stays just noticeable for hours with a couple of sprays, but doesn’t fill the entire room). It has a lot of (initially hidden) depth but it won’t offend anyone AND it’s a comforting gourmand – it sounds like it could be perfect for day to day wear in the colder months, exactly my kind of scent. So why haven’t I fallen in love (yet)? I’m guessing it’s because of the dominant aniseed: I like the smell a lot in the real world, but in perfumes I’m just not entirely crazy about dominant spiciness. This was a hard review to write, though, which makes me think I’m not finished with this one. I think it’ll take me a while to use up my little decant, but maybe I’ll love it by the time I do. In the mean time I think anyone who does love warm spicy scents and especially aniseed should definitely try this one!

WOW! I really love this. A touch of genius adding the chilli and star anise. It reminds me a bit of SL Ambre Sultan once the chilli has dried off. A very stimulating spicy fragrance with moderate sillage and long lasting. You really need to love strong spicey fragrances to be comfortable with this. Not one for a blind buy. It is also unisex.

I adore the patchouli from this house, but there is that piercing, sharpness from I’m not sure in Essence. Is it the anise?? Totally ruins it for me. 🙁

Wonderful fragrance. I would have bought it if I didn’t have L’occitane Ambre. They’re the same. I can smell no difference, and they both have amazing sillage and longevity on the skin. Spicy, oriental yet sweet and feminine. And the bottle is lovely.

I can not identify this aspect they say spicy, I output a little stronger perhaps for paprika and feel a soft velvety vanilla mingling with anise a heady perfume of different gourmands know that sophisticated and cozy.

This perfume is 90% star anise and a 10% magic. Do you like star anise? I can’t stand it at all.. yet I adore this fragrance. It must be magic within.

I really wanted to like this and i did at first, first spray smelt spicy and quite fresh. I asked for a sample to take home just to be sure. Unfortunately after a while it becomes quite sickly and headache inducing. My husband who loves Reminiscence Patchouli on me really didn’t like it. I’m relieved I didn’t buy it then and there – shame it doesn’t work on me 🙁

Wow! This is heaven… Hot spicy at first – red pepper is quite noticeable here, dominating the first 10-15 minutes. But wait for the dry-down! It’s sweet, warm, chocolatey, with a tinge of tang.
    BIG like!
Just make sure you don’t over spray. This stuff is very potent, and should be applied with a light hand.

It smells like creamy caramel on my skin. Sweet and creamy. Delicious! That’s all I have to say. I love it!

Oh my..aniseed is literally the only thing I can smell here..Maybe it jumps on me because I strongly dislike this note in fumes..vanilla and labdanum are also quire prominent here..the poor subtle sandalwood did not stand a chance.
    Love aniseed?- Tuck in!

In my opinion, another masterpiece by Réminiscence. A fresh opening with bergamot, and then, after a short time, appear star anise, sandalwood and vanilla in a warm way. It becomes addictive and I can smell this fragrance on my clothes the day after I wore it. Dedicated to girls and boys, two or three sprays a day are enough.

I adore this scent. Put it on today and fell in love with it all over again.
It feels so sensual and warm with a powdery drydown that lasts for hours.
Its the combination of star anise, vanilla, patchouli and spices that makes this a scent for scent lovers. Its truely wonderful romantic and sensual and has great lasting power. Its that little bit different and yes its a complex scent with a most warm/sweet scent with that lovely butter and powder drydown that makes for a magical combination.
My only problem is I can only buy in france.
    Magic in a scent.

My most recent love… I tried it this afternoon. The opening notes are so refreshing that I really thought there was a mixture of lavender and eucalyptus.
I was wrong obviously, it must be the pine and anise…It is a very unusual fragrance which must be great in summer . The dry down is great, llong lasting, a spicy combination of vanilla and anise which remains surprisingly cool and fresh for an oriental.

The aroma is medicinal, strong output, but the peculiar juice itself isn´t dense. The anise note is quite evident and I still have to appreciate more the notes to find them. What I can say for now is that the output gives me a little uncomfortable but the drydown is great, I fell anise and pleasant vanilla.A durability is also very good! Something reminds me Joop Nightflight.

Another fascinating scent from Reminiscense. This is fully unisex and I can’t wait to smell this on my man. It starts with a blast of paprika that make my nose tingle. The base is lovely with a mix of sandalwood, cedar and pine. The flowers are there but are barely noticeable. Just enough vanilla to soften everything up!
Very good quality as usual from this house.

this new fragrance is very spicy, now i’m smelling it on my skin and at first the prdominant note is paprika very pungent mixed with sparkling, fresh bergamot.then i perceive a strong note of incense i think it derives from the concoction of the floral notes blended with the base notes that warm the scent and make it creamy and tender.vanilla and sandalwood are more concentrated but thanks to pine and cedar the fragrance assumes a more oriental tone.
it’s a very complex scent spicy and fresh, pungent but tender.it makes me think about a beach, in an oriental country, in the middle of the night when the waves crash on the bank and you can smell the brackish water mixed with the spicyness of the incense melted in the air.all this mix is closed in this bottle.it’s a fantastic dream through immagination….
