Armingeat was the first to make use of aldehydes creating the scent Rêve D’Or somewhere near to year 1912 but Ernest Beaux got to be famous with the use of them ten years later. The type of aldehydes used in perfumery is called aliphatic with wide scent ranges.

That’s how “English Novel” starts, shiny, brilliant, sparkly floral with a green tart notes Nikolay’s application of a chypre-making-method promises nothing less than the reconciliation of the two conflicting definitions regarding chypre fragrances – a marriage of old and new.

“English Novel” is very distinguished and warm scent, a kind of fragrance you ought to wear as a gentleman. At some point I was thrown back in the era of English flower perfumes. Gentlemen scents produced by D. R. Harris & Co., Truefitt & Hill and Floris London crossed my mind.

Nikolay didn’t go back in time though, he created a modern form of chypre, which first brings back a distinct memory but after a while you can experience few modern steps in his making. He’s not breaking any rules with his creation. His fragrance still brings manners and sense and taste. It’s delicious, seductive and masculine. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself stealing kisses in dark corners ‘cause “English Novel” has a slight sinister touch also, which makes you sexier and more confident.

Licorice adds sweetness without being too sugary, just a touch of it immediately balances everything out. “English Novel” is now calm with perfect projection; made for truly noble man…for a man of honor…now it’s time to give those stolen kisses back!
