Description
Encens Tranquille is a dry mysterious olibanum (Frankincense) united with risc musky labdanum and resins.
“I didn’t experience incense in church while growing up, so I didn’t discover my love for incense notes until I began to sample essential oils. The first time I smelled olibanum essential oil (frankincense), I was truly enchanted. I loved it at first sniff, which was interesting since I had no prior association with it as so many people do. I wanted Encens Tranquille to be a very natural smelling fragrance that highlighted olibanum, enhanced by resinous woods and labdanum”. (Laurie Erickson)
Fragrance notes: frankincense, myrrh, labdanum absolute, oakmoss absolute, aged Indian patchouli, Texas cedarwood, Indian sandalwood, ambergris. The fragrance is available in EDP 17 and 34ml. Encens Tranquille was launched in 2007.

Encens Tranquille was discontinued when it no longer met IFRA regulations. Incense Pure was developed to replace ET and was released March 2010.
what i smell is incense smoke mixed with peppery notes. It’s in the same league as Azzaro “Visit”, but not as harsh, yet it’s more natural smelling and gives you the feeling that you are actually attending a church messe.

Whilst most incense fragrances go for the smoky, choking qualities of the scent; Sonoma Scent Studio’s creator, Laurie Erickson, has managed to create something uniquely sweeter & more harmonious than one normally expects. Perhaps this is, as she says, because her interest in & experience of incense only grew through her knowledge of essential oils.
This is supremely warm & wearable, it seems to hug the body in a mysterious blanket of resinous woods. It’s certainly not overpoweringly smoky – the best way I can describe it is to liken it to incense *before* the smoke has built up, when the embers are just starting to glow but nobody has been consumed in clouds of smoke. Nothing to make the eyes water, here – this is another success from this studio of beautifully blended perfumes.
Fans of Donna Karan’s Black Cashmere would like this very much, I think. It carries the hallmarks of Sonoma Scent Studio creations I have tried so far: intense hits of beauty that surprise & beguile yet settle down quickly on the skin to become part of the wearer.
Definitely on my wants list, this may be my favourite new incense. An all-day wrist-sniffing pleaser for women & men alike!
