Description
As a result of numerous trips taken by the founders and Creators, Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel, to Asia and Middle East, they have created five new Colognes Absolue, all of which are a part of Atelier Cologne newest collection, Collection Orient inspired by the region’s natural beauty, people and customs, and particularly the most precious raw materials. The beauty and refinement of these carefully selected raw materials illustrate treasured emotions and powerful memories, source of inspiration for the creators.
Atelier Cologne’s iconic flacon has been reinvented for Collection Orient. The glass is colored white reflecting modernity and purity. The golden caps pay tribute to the preciousness of the ingredients carefully selected to create each Cologne Absolue.
Encens Jinhae was created of precious cherry blossom petals carried like snowflakes by the wind. They are combined with sophisticated spicy notes of pink pepper and nutmeg, and deepened with incense, patchouli, sandalwood and elemi. Their luminousness originates from Sicilian lemon and floral warmth from Turkish rose.
Fragrances of the collection ATELIER COLOGNE COLLECTION ORIENT are available as 30, 100 and 200ml Cologne Absolue (20% vol), as well as in gift sets. Flacons of 30ml are ‘dressed’ in leather case.
Encens Jinhae was launched in 2016.

I don’t mean to detract from what this is, or the Atelier name, but when I smelled this, it instantly reminded me of Armaf’s Silver Mountain Water clone called Derby Clubhouse Blanche. For most, this is the sticky, musky rose accord that ruined that scent as a clone, however I really liked it in spite of its clash with the metallic fresh notes.
I really love this! It’s not an incense scent, but more so a scent that pays tribute to incense. A scent that would couple well with incense. I mostly get a musky rose and lemon, just like the current votes, but I don’t get much pink pepper. I also get a strong cumin/coriander vibe. This is not a “clean” rose smell, but it is musky in a very floral way. It becomes moreso floral in the dry down, after some of the top notes have faded away, leaving the musky rose and sandalwood behind. Speaking of which, the dry down is DIVINE! It lasts quite a while on the pillow case if you go to bed with this one on.

On me, this is a strong combo of incense, nutmeg, smoke, and powder. It’s pretty good.

I recently received seven Atelier fragrance samples. I’m not very familiar with this brand and am excited to try these and share my thoughts.
Encens Jinhae is a balsamic and earthy rose with a little spice. I didn’t detect any cherry blossom at all. The resins and patchouli notes are lovely and keep the rose soft and warm. A very enjoyable fragrance!

Lovely and subtle elemi and rose combo. If you want an oriental rose that doesn’t scream, this is the one.

I’ve never smelled Cafe Rose so cannot compare, but I swear I smell vetiver in this. I like the elemi and incense aspect, the occasional whiff of a kind of plastic rose, pepper accord. I do not smell much patchouli in this, and no sandalwood really. There is absolutely no “cherry blossom” for me. On paper, this smells more like incense; on me, it skews, strangely “green-aquatic.” When I see how others have grouped the notes, I think “Yeah, this is going to be like an Amouage or something.” Nope. This is not basalmic on me really. The light lipstick rose quality arrives in the middle, not present initially in the top notes.
I love unisex scents, and pretty much wear only unisex. I’m drawn to woods and incense, but this has a light transparency that reminds me of men’s colognes only. Specifically, it wafts a clean quality that reminds me of the 90s and even some late 80s scents ubiquitous for men. So, even though I like it, I don’t love it, and won’t be buying a full bottle.
Definitely try before you buy since more people are picking up incense than I am. I think this is totally office friendly, day-time, spring & summer scent, refreshing with moderate silage and very good (not great) longevity.

VERY similar to Tom Ford’s Cafe Rose; although, not as long-lasting (which is the main downside of the Atelier line), and lacking in concentration. They both share rose, patchouli, incense, pepper, and sandalwood notes. Encens is a lighter version of Café Rose, not as rosy, but still highly enjoyable. So far, this is my favorite of the Atelier Cologne line. As Cafe Rose leans more feminine and lasts longer, I think I’d choose it over Encens.

This adorable fragrance has got balsamic
and flowery scent. rose and Lemon and again Rose! You can wear it from Spring to Winter both day and night for any occasion. The projection and longevity of this unisex perfume are moderate.thx Atelier.

softly warm, incense-y tea rose + bath & bodyworks cherry blossom accord. There’s a cheap association with the rose and cherry blossom combo that i can’t shake, unfortunately. The opening is really cool though: a mentholated incense + rose opening thats incredibly smooth. what keeps this from going truly cheap is the amazing incense, rose and sandalwood dry down.
reminds me a lot of cafe rose in its smokey yet sweet rose facets, just a lot lighter–if anything, it’s cafe rose diluted by 50% with cherry blossom in the mix
A great release from atelier, solid longevity (6-ish hours, 12+ hours with just a sweet rose/sandalwood trace left on the skin), close to the skin.
edit: the more i wear it, the nicer it gets. didn’t get a lot of that b&bw cherry blossom, just this lightly fruity rose + incense.

My fourth try from the Collection Orient by Atelier Cologne is Encens Jinhae. The eponymous incense note figures in strongly as expected, with spicy and floral notes. Very bold to start with sharp top notes of lemon and pink pepper dominating the first hour with the frankincense (olibanum), and then it dries down into a mix of incense and resin, mainly, a sweet and salty mix that’s well-balanced for most of its life.
Performance is very strong overall, on par with Tobacco Nuit, perhaps the strongest other Atelier Cologne offering that I’ve tried to this point. Certainly this is a scent mainly to be saved for colder months, and is probably better-suited for men, though some women might be inclined to try this one out.
Overall, it’s not the smoothest incense (i.e. Incense Oud By Kilian) or the craziest, or the sweetest, but it’s an interesting blend and departure for the house. Still, at its pricing (the same as the other Collection Orient offerings, $250 for 100ml, $350 for 200ml), you would really have to love it to buy a bottle.

Very nice floral scent with quite exotic ingredients (ex. incense from Uzbekistan).
But it’s so, so simple and generic, that really in a crowd nobody will ever even turn his or her head to trace this perfume’s trail. There seem to be an unsuccessful mix of roses, patchouli and sandalwood that even the above incense of Samarkand could not spice it up.
It simply doesn’t smell special or unique, it smells ordinary. Once I wash it off, I can’t even remember it, and will probably never recognize if someone wears it around.

Resinous incense with a pinch of pepper.
