Description

Edwardian Bouquet is an original floral composition launched in 1901 to celebrate a new era.

Citrusy top notes mix with green nuances of hyacinth and water in a floral heart of rose, jasmine and ylang ylang. Patchouli and sandalwood dominate the base, with a hint of moss, musk and mild, powdery notes.

Very chanel no.5 old school vibe. Endolic florals with a powdery heart. It’s a bit animalic but just enough to bring out the florals nicely. It gives the impression of having soapy clean skin.
The performance is also great! It stays on the skin all day. After the floral opening it’s very powdery with an aldehyde woody dry down.
For the price, I think your getting your money’s worth with this one. If you know you want a nice floral, that’s not sweet and mainstream, this is perfect.

Daring perfume formulas in the ‘new’ 20th century at the time. No restrictions in the use of ingredients yet. Oakmoss is blended in very well, giving this perfume a good base for floral notes. The floral ‘bouquet’ is in its place, just the right amount of the potentially overwhelming hyacinth, a touch of rose, sparcely used jasmine. The result is a rich and intrigueing perfume. I love history.

I obtained a bottle of what I think is the older version (the smaller of the two pictures above). It’s definitely animalic, but not on the same level as vintage Kouros, for example. I also get the galbanum, but it’s stronger in vintage Halston 1-12. There’s a bit of the kind of chypre “bite” I have noticed in “feminines” from the 1970s, but again, it’s not as strong here. The florals seem heavy and perhaps a touch wet at first, but then feel drier and not as heavy after an hour or so. It is a bit musky and powdery, but I haven’t noticed any clear wood notes. And there was something that was almost but not quite minty. In any case, it reminds me a bit of vintage Aramis Herbal 900, in terms of the overall composition, and if you like that one I think you would find the drydown of this one to be at least somewhere around unisex. I like it and likely will keep it, despite having other, similar scents. I guess it’s the kind of scent that I would part with if a great deal came along, but I would prefer to keep it.

I adore this perfume, I like the fact it is old fashioned because I adore all things vintage. When you smell it in the bottle it does smell a little old lady but urge you try it as it smells different on your skin. It is a walk in a spring wood. I get a massive hit of hyacinth first but then i settles down and the green mossy element becomes prevalent. I think a lot of modern perfumes smell the same. I hate the strong vanilla in them. This is totally different and more sophisticated and elegant. A very good signature scent. As previous reviewer very much Gosford Park or Downton Abbey.

A classic floral cornucopia, Floris Edwardian Bouquet strikes me in some ways as a cross between Creed Fleurissimo and Fantasia de Fleurs. So, yes, lots of flowers, but also a more formal and traditional feeling. What’s missing from this bouquet are the sweet florals–such as violet–so the overall effect is more staid than Fleurissimo, but it’s also less shrill than Fantasia de Fleurs.
The conservative feeling of Edwardian Bouquet may have something to do with the fact that it was first launched way back in 1901. (The Creeds mentioned are also from centuries past…) I smell lots of rose and jasmine, but there are many other co-conspirators as well, and there is a markedly green facet to this composition.
Definitely a solid composition from the historic house of Floris. A good choice for people who cannot abide abstract florals.

Got this, along with a myriad of Floris samples, and am wearing it right now. It’s absolutely gorgeous–not ‘old lady’ at all!! The sillage is incredible–start out with your pulsepoints–and longevity, well this is my 4th hour and it’s still going strong. Can’t quit smelling my wrists–!!

I get a cross between cleaning fluids and a refresher oil for the christmas pot pourri. It has an ancient mouldering smell, perhaps Miss Havisham was wearing it seated at her her wedding table, and perhaps she still is. I am sorry to say this one is not for me.

I like this scent a lot. First it’s very nice animalic notes on me, and they are gently sunkissed. The scent gradually turns into vintage Fleur à Fleur cologne on my skin, going from its a little soapy beginning to aromatic grass, and then to fresh flowers, nice and wonderful.

I tried this today, even if I live in England it;s somewhat rare to stumble upon Floris. Blind tried, as there were no descriptions in store, but this one spoke to me.
The Edwardian Bouquet packs a punch, strong, woody and old fashioned, at first spritz I regretted it, reminds me of an old bottle of Roch as Femme that my granny used to have on her vanity table!
Then lovely florals started coming out of the wood, the jasmine is strong here for me, and then rose.
On the train home, I noticed how pleasant the dry down was, so refreshing without the typical vanilla notes.
I might give this fragrance a chance! I could never have pulled it off ten years ago, but now it sort of works on me!
Sniggered a bit at the Gosford Park comment, and wholeheartedly agree!

I found this fragrance not very interesting. I agree it has green, soapy tones but it also smelled very asexual in a way. Neither here nor there. This has to be one of my least favorite Floris scents. I’m just lucky I got to smell it in person before ordering.

A remarkably aged green / floral (mainly galbanum) chypre with a bitter character and a milky vibe throughout. Soapy / powdery drydown. Honest but not very interesting.

This is a really lovely perfume, makes me think of clean skin and flowers. Very refined and definitely aristocratic smell. I think it is best worn on a cold day. Normally I am very wary of powdery perfumes. This is powdery, but the powdery smell is so married to florals that it works for me. It is VERY old-fashioned, but so well-made that it does not come off as the dreaded “old lady.” For me, it’s too distinct and old-fashioned for everyday use, but it’s a beautiful perfume to have for occassional use. Such a treat to put it on. It’s like entering another world. Very Gosford Park!!

elegant, feminine, powdery, aristocratic and a little bit sexy in a Gosford park sort of way

I agree with all the other reviews. I will add that in my opinion, this is a 30 and over perfume. I am reminded of Aromatics Elixer by Clinique but much lighter and more refined. I could see this going two ways cool weather and an old fashioned cozy sweater OR for one cool hippie chic. Additionally, the first 2 times I put this on I sprayed it near my face and it gave me a humdinger of a headache (I am very sensitive). Don’t put it on your clothes but maybe spray your belly button and rub your wrists on it. =) Problem solved.

I found this sample to be almost too strong on a cloudy, seventy-five degree day, which surprised me. I usually really like green fragrances, but this one is not particularly clean or sharp. There’s almost too much going on in it. I will make a point of re-visiting it on a colder day though to see if my perception of it changes.

And its musky and somehow antique quality is what attracts me most to this one. There is nothing modern or edgy about Edwardian Bouquet and sometimes I crave the feel of starched linens and drying herbs and flowers with a hint of moss at the door.
This is my favorite Floris which I own in the EDP.

A quaint, almost stodgy scent that conjures up olfactory images of musty bedrooms, care-worn linens, and flowers drying in the kitchen. Powdery sweet, a little musky, and extremely old-fashioned.
