A disappointing fragrance for me. Childish and cloying. I anticipated a fragrance with more of the floral notes and all I am getting is marshmallows.
LFA – :
One of my favorite perfumes. There is something so sweet yet refreshing about this. For some strange reason, this opening smells like clove or…bubble gum. I have zero idea why this makes me think of that, but a very robust bubble gum mixed with citrus and clove smell. This is a review that might turn someone away, please don’t be scared! However, the freesia is prominant on me as well. The drydown is yummy and sultry. With Fragonard perfumes I have a hard time pinning specific notes. It’s just a harmony of smells…
I own 5 Fragonard perfumes and they all smell beautifully sophisticated and flawlessly executed in their creation–I’ve visited two factories 🙂 🙂 one of the best trips!!!
Anyway, Eclat is unlike anything else i own. It’s special.
Mezbx575bedyWelty – :
Opening is a strong, spicy combination of: sour lemon, peppery freesia, bitter bergamot and bittersweet saffron. Eclat starts to sweeten subtly when zesty lemon melts together with buttery, peachy frangipani and white floral scents of orange blossom and gardenia.
Powdery marshmallow adds to sweetness and blends in softly with sandalwood, which supports the freshens of lemon in the dry down. Unfortunately, the lemon occasionally reminds me too much of the yellow Fairy. However, Eclat stays floral throughout.
Even though I don’t enjoy the opening of the fragrance, the white florals and comforting marshmallow are so delicious. Marshmallow reminds me of a cup of deluxe hot chocolate.
Fragrance is heavy in the beginning, but settles down close to skin. The sweetness of florals and marshmallow mixed with freshness makes it ideal for all the seasons. It is suitable for day- evening- and bedtime.

One of my favorites. So clean and powdery for me at least. Nothing else like it. I don’t get many complements on this, but it always makes me happy. Always okay to wear in a crowd.
nailaga – :
Sweet and fragrant of all things sugary, there is a little kick to Eclat though. Cloves come to mind but maybe thats the amber. The amber makes this frag feel more of a cool weather option for me.

This one reminds me of my childhood! I used to eat these sweets/candy as a child which I had completely forgotton about until I smelt this. I know I sound cheesy but this fragrance immediatly reminded me of those wonderful sweets which dont seem to be available anymore! Its amazing how certain fragrances can right away take you back to an almost forgotton moment in time and reinforce those memories which is part of the reason why I love scents! This one smells similar to Lancome Hypnose even though the notes are different.

mi piacciono questi fragonard, sono senza tempo
Numak666 – :
ooooohhhi just discovered that my future-mother-in-law bought it for me in Nice.. sooo looking forward to try it on my skin..
UPD a bit too sweet/woody on my skin but quite tolerable.. gives a bit “heavy-ish” impression.
kuznechik-001 – :
Sweet marshmallow fragrance.
With such notes pyramid it could be more interesting for sure.
I’m not impressed by this sweet fragrance. Or I’m just old enough to smell marshmallow:)
GENA555 – :
I agree with the comparison to Hypnose by Lancome. But I find it more floral, natural and less cloying than the Lancome’s one. Hypnose is more synthetic and sweeter. On my skin it’s long lasting for an edt. It’s the only fragrance with marshmellow’s note I can stand without being nauseated. So at last I recommend it to floral lovers and to gourmand lovers also. And the price is reasonable.
gaver83 – :
This is the only non-cloying marshmallow scent I know. Without the marshmallow it would be a perfect fresh scent for me but the sweetness masks the plumeria a little too much. However, for a sophisticated marshmallow it’s quite nice.
It’s best for summer in my opinion as the silage is very soft and longevity is only OK.
6/10

Une senteur de chamallow dans un parfum ???
Pourquoi pas.
Je ne connais pas ce parfum mais ce doit être fait pour une petite fille…. Très peu pour moi…
Валерьян – :
Was a present. This scent smelled like lemonade or like shampoo for children, smelling of sweets. I wore it on my personal days of laughter.
tme344elipseskism – :
Hmmm this is an interesting scent, the marshmallow note compliments the florals very nicely. A very nice, well blended scent. I would describe it as a more ‘traditional’ perfume as the sweetness does not reflect in the same way modern ‘sweet’ scents do, where you can often pin point the sweet note. (Such as cherry or vanilla). The dry down is comforting. Though I find the EDT strong! This is probably a good point, but I can’t handle strength in sweet scents. 1 spray is enough.
Thanks kittycat63 for the swap! 🙂

Njam! What a delicious scent. Gives good feelings, happy thoughts, delightfull imidiate feel. I consider this to be wonderfull oriental frangipani. Brings to my mind trip to Crete island where frangipani flowers bloomed added to some sweet vanillish aromas. This scent is delicious and irresistible. Brings much to mind Lancome Hypnose. I have Perfume and definitely will repurchase.

If anyone’s interested I have a 100ml bottle of Eclat available for swap. Please PM me if you’re interested in doing a potential swap for it!
Keecycymn – :
Delicious. A truly elegant, grown up marshmallow. The gardenia and amber make this slightly sexy too. A sweet fragrance for those who don’t like sweet fragrances. This is the kind of scent that will evoke memories of the times or places you wear it. For those who post for scents to make them happy, look no further.
sivdaxifilm – :
I picked it while on tour at Paris’s Fragonard museum. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It is light but in my opinion marshmellow completely overpowers all the delicate florals it is just too sickly powdery. Like you’ve been hit by a bottle of talc.
xasan2009 – :
This scent is very soft and sweet, and very comforting. It starts out zesty and dries down into the marshmallow note, which is very gourmand but not headache-inducing. Perfect for someone with a sweet and innocent personality. I look forward to purchasing this as a self-birthday gift (:
loonderne – :
Prior reviewers are right – this is a mild gourmand perfume. Eclat has a really nice and delicate sweetness to it with the marshmallow note. But to me it also has a sour-fresh feeling. It mostly comes from the citruses but also from the freshly picked flowers.
Eclat is definitely one of the best marshmallow perfumes out there. But it’s worth trying even if you are not a gourmand lover. Because the flowers smell like the time of spring when it’s already warm and the magic of falling in love is in the air.
xjy788speagoessenda – :
It took me a long time to appreciate this scent. My mom bought me a small bottle when I was in high school, but I am only starting to uncover its beauty. Back then, I was not sure what it smelled like – it was sweet, yet had a tinge of citrus which disconcerted my notions of what a perfume should smell like. I couldn’t understand it, so I didn’t bother. But now… it smells like comfort, warmth and discovery all in one. Like reading Chronicles of Narnia with a mug of hot chocolate after a fun day of playing in the snow.
I am running out and need to start looking for a place to buy another bottle.
Fraug – :
Hmmm…this scent is like a soft blanket, like a tender touch.
I cannot stand with sugary, syrup-like fragrances but this fragrance is an exeption.
On me it’s gentle, calming fulsome gardenia accord with frangipani, marshmallow and a touch of amber. Interestingly I could not detect bergamott, just a pale sigh of saffron in the opening.
I agree, it has similarity with Lancome Hypnose but this scent much tender and less sweet than Hypnose.(Thanks God!!:D)
Gulnaz – :
Yes to me it resembles Hypnose from Lancome, somehow softer and gourmand
Тёма1989 – :
Éclat is a mystery to me. It opens sweet with a hint of marshmellow and a touch of bitter lemon. After a while the smell transferes to something recognisable but I can not remember or describe what this is. On me this is not a gourmand but something oriental (frangipani) and mystic in a light way. After some hours I can feel the light and sweet undertone of marsmellows. The sillage is very good if you spray a couple of times on each place. In fact, the parfume lasts more than 24 hours, and to me it smells even better the morning after. I think this parfume is more interessting than wonderful, but on days when you want to be a nose-teaser at the office, this perfume will be perfect.
sergjd – :
I agree with Missk – a “classy gourmand” seems to be very fitting. I also agree with danimcneil that there is something like unripe citrus in there and I love it! Like a little bit soapy unripe citrus with underlying, kind of “candied”, gentle sweetness to me! And of course there are flowers there! Exotic, fragrant, but delicate. This is charming and elegant and just lovely. The only problem is – I have tested the eau de toilette and it seems to be extremely “thin”. Half and hour later I keep pressing my nose on my skin and struggle to smell anything at all…
Elegalayday – :
I was a able to test this recently in the parfum form. To my nose, this smelled identical to hypnose, which I’m not a huge fan of. I was really excited about this one because of the marshmallow note. I love that note! But this literally smells like non ripened citrus. That’s all. I really wish I could smell what others did! So I have a pure parfum 2ml sample. Which is a large amount for what it is. Anyone in the us that would like to try this…let me know!
svslai – :
Eclat by Fragonard is what I’d call a classy gourmand.
Eclat is sweet in a subtle way. This is nothing like the sickly sweet gourmands that the celebrities like to produce, Eclat has a sugary and candy-like delicacy that won’t make you nauseous.
The scent opens with candied lemon and soft, feminine freesia and gardenia. From the word go, Eclat has that undeniable girlish charm. In my opinion Eclat would make the perfect gift for a young girl just being introduced to the niche side of the fragrance industry.
The frangipani note is delightful and lightly sugared. In almost every fragrance, frangipani has a way of capturing a tropical landscape in a bottle. There is a subtle hint of coconut in there somewhere too.
Marshmallow, amber and a touch of musk finishes off Eclat nicely. The sweetness is at its strongest in the drydown.
Eclat lasts relatively well and I must add that the price makes this fragrance very affordable. This fragrance is sold in both eau de toilette and pure parfum concentrations. While I haven’t managed to try the parfum version, I will definitely make it my mission to suss it out.
vallhamer10 – :
I actually have the vintage one, that is not a gourmand but actually a floral aldehydes in the 70’s style!! This one I still need to find somewhere!

ME4EHblU – :
AHA! It contains a marshmallow note!
I wore Eclat to bed-Yow! Is it a sparkle, or a floodlight? Superbright effect! I thought it was kind of pretty but way too sweet-if you love (sugar-dusted)supersweet and not too dark or deep Oriental Florals this might be for you. For me, it’s maybe wearable, as most Fragonard fragrances are, but it would usually give me a high blood sugar!
transik – :
a delicious floral, a harmony in which you can’t separate sweetness of flowers from sweetness of marshmallow. Tender sweet fragrance.
