I bought this after a long time trying to find the vintage. At last I was succesfull.
I really find this interesting because it smells different. I like citrus, spicy fragrances, and this is a frangrance that smells quite out of the ordinary.
I agree with the G&T comparison. The powdery effect is maybe a little Sharp for me.

ENGLISH
I like citrus/aromatic scents and I have no prejudice about them . Unfortunately, I could not use this one in peace when I was in public. At least where I went with it, did not cause good impression on people. They moved away or were scowling. A pity, because it is very refreshing in the summer . It was released in 1966 and I bought one glass in the 90s . After these events, I stopped wearing it in public. I used it only at home and after it finished I never bought it again. It was my first and my last time. I think I was traumatised by it! Well, it’s very annoying to have the freedom to get perfumed so disrespected by the populace… This is a serious issue, the lack of education. After all, we should spray perfume for who? For ourselves or for others? To what extent people have the right to make explicit the approval or rejection in relation to the perfume others use? Do they understand what a person feels when he likes a certain smell? Let´s think about it, maybe this behaviour is invasive.

This review is for the vintage EDT from the 1960s. Sharp bergamot-citrus opening, quickly joined by juniper, so it smells like a fresh G&T, then spicy notes that I would have said were Somalian incense (not listed). I don’t detect any lavender, vetiver or musk at all on my skin. Dries down quite quickly to a soft, clean, fresh scent but then has surprising staying power (no powdery notes on me). I like l’Occitane’s Verveine but it doesn’t last, and Eau Serge Lutens but it REALLY lasts. This is a good inbetweener – a great summer-day fragrance.

Oh what a spacially airy freshness this fragrance blows into your life…
A few of us have a Friday night together and sample a selection of scents, tonight Eau Vive was one of the selected few. We all applied and sniffed, and the Mmmms and Aaaahs followed.
‘Sea and sky and G&T’ was the first comment (by me), shortly followed by ‘the River Roeburn at Roeburndale with all the open fields surrounding’ (by my mum).
I remember the river at Roeburndale, swimming with my sister age 13 in the crisp, clear, cool water in the early summer, with miles of blue sky overhead and acres and acres of pasture fields surrounding, not another soul for miles around and not a car passing all day long. Picnic lunch with home made and home grown rhubarb wine, glorious sunshine, and not a care in the world.
These are the memories this fragrance brought back to us, so fresh and carefee, full of joy and life.
I would wear it every day just for that fresh, young carefree feeling.
Not too expensive either, enjoy!

I have the very vintage splash bottle of this fragrance with really dark green lid. So my review is for vintage concentration of EDT.
I wanted to try this one since i really love “Intrigue” by Carven and thought it might be also good. But this is totally not my type of scent. It opens up very citrysy and green but deep green. Very bitter orange and super strong vetyver notes are dominanting the opening. Later bitter lavender note comes into sight. All this is soaked in a bath of aldehydes. And this is what i particulary dislike in this scent. If it wouldn´t be too soapy and too bitter and too green… The drydown is my least favorite part of this fragrance: it is still green and bitter but becomes very powdery. I do think that this is almost the same as “O” de Lancome (especially the vintage one, they share a lot). Opening is somekind of “Eau de Rochas” but in general i would prefer Rochas over this one. I just don´t like those type of scents that start up really fresh but end up in a bucket of powder.
I haven´t tried it in the summer or spring time, maybe i would change my mind but at this particular moment i don´t like it. Weak sillage but quite average lasting power (couple of hours).
Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every review should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.
