Description
The house of Le Couvent des Minimes has presented their new fragrance Eau des Minimes Cologne which continues traditional creation of fragrances with natural ingredients among which there are three sorts of citruses and seven sorts of herbs grown in monastery garden. Eau de Cologne is available in 250 ml and 500 ml glass flacons and its composition is ideal for refreshment, positive feelings and pleasure.
The original recipe includes citrusy notes of grapefruit, red orange and lemon while creating luminous refreshment in opening notes. Rosemary aromas are ideal for revitalization, heartsease and melissa calms you down, thistle empowers, while hortensia, neroli and benzoin create a fine, beneficial balance.
Eau Des Minimes Cologne opens with such citruses as grapefruit, red orange and lemon along with aromatic rosemary. A heart adds garden flowers, while a base is a combination of wood and vanilla. The modern EDC by Le Couvent des Minimes has been available since April 2010.

pleasant citrus smell… good value…and I am guilty of using as a room spray…because I like the smell that much
max8622 – :
These feel like Atelier – lights. Longevity is nil but when these first spritz out – wonderful !
svoiak – :
This Couvent des Minimes is my favourite, crisp and fresh…also perfect for layering
A good scent for a small price.
It’s a good one for man and woman.
mehen – :
A nice simple traditional Spring/Summer EDC. Uplifting natural and fresh for the few hours it lasts. Don’t expect too much and you will be pleased. Perfectly unisex.
Xeroxixayj – :
Such a gem ! An uplifting bright citrusy accord toned down by the mélisse and the neroli. Not complex but this is so well blended. Can t recommend this enough especially for the low price it sells
Tek73 – :
Refreshing cologne, perfect for summer. It starts with lemon and is later joined by a tart grapefruit, rosemary and neroli. I usually don’t like flowers in cologne but the neroli works well with the citrus. The rosemary provides an aromatic edge that together with the benzoin make this almost a perfume.
ritStolla – :
Love this since summer is coming …love the fresh flow of this.
orubicon – :
A masterpiece, subtle yet sophisticated, on me it is lemon, but not screeching lemon , lemon becalmed by herbs like rosemary and thistle and somewhat sweetened by the flowers like neroli and pansy, and afterwards the benzoin. Longevity is 4 hours plus in very warm temps (100F and over) with moderate sillage. I find it quite calming and uplifting. Can be used by men and woman. One of my favorite scents, specially on very hot summers (a Brazilian specialty).
acundachurn – :
A gorgeously blended citrus and rosemary cologne, more on the masculine side. It can be easely the first perfume of the day – and will give you a lovely and clean aura for hours and hours. The box contains also a sprayer cap – but nothing compares with a good, two hands friction under the ears! For a cologne, it’s more powerful than you may think (or expect from a citric). Absolutely compatible with Goutal’s “Eau d’Hadrien”, much more rafined and mediterranean than 4711 and with a plus of longevity if compared to Mugler’s Cologne.
In my opinion, Eau des Minimes is the best from the house (I didn’t taste Eau des Missions yet).
A deserved 8,7/10
GuitionnetS – :
I am a nerd when it comes to smells of citrus, mint or basil and green leaves.
And this one combines all of those in a simple but perfect way.
It doesnt last very long on me thats why I spray it on my hair and I think its more of a body spray than an actual eau de cologne.
Its a refreshing on a hot day.
I like all of the Eau de Minimes smells, but this one is my favourite.
Perfume: 9/10
Price: cheap for that great quality

A lovely gorgeous refreshing citrus at first. Smells like orange & lemon rind. Very realistic. This one like the other fragrance I tried by this brand “Cologne Of Love” start out quite similar. This is something you would spray liberally and effortlessly. Especially in hot weather. I’d drench myself in this!!
While the other one was sweetened on the drydown by a gorgeous orange blossom, this one is sweetened by rose and vanilla.
Simplistic, refreshing and not meant to fill a room. I like it.
iov102.2 – :
Eau De Minimes Cologne is one of the most enjoyable citrus fragrances I have come across. The blend of the citrus is not too harsh, bright, fresh, and extremely refreshing. Grapefruit seems to be the strongest citrus to pop up on my since, but the combination of the lemon and hint of blood orange make a lovely slightly sweet citrus cocktail on my skin. I pick up a tiny hint of an herbal vibe in Eau De Minimes Cologne and some orange blossoms, which is also featured in their Eau Aimable Cologne (Cologne of Love). Since this is not a true eau de toilette or eau de parfum, I spray it on quite liberally. I get a few hours of wear before I have to reapply, but considering the uplifting nature of this fragrance I do not mind it at all! This cologne is soft and very lovely on my skin, almost a skin scent once it has settled down. Great for the warmer weather and something I crave from time to time. This fragrance also works for me as a palette cleanser, when I am not in the mood one of my heavier scents. I definitely suggest trying out Eau De Minimes, if you are the market for a light refreshing citrus cologne that is quite affordable, which is amazing for a warmer day.

I don’t usually go for citrus scents but this was given to me as a sample and I did enjoy it. The lemon opening is fresh but not bitter, just the right amount if zest. It dues calm after a little and is softer whilst still maintaining that fresh quality. Every do often I’d wave my hands about as I was talking and is get a hint of a beautiful vanilla/benzoin drydown but when I sniffed my wrists I couldn’t smell it! It just wafted about from a small distance! Odd but surprisingly nice! I don’t think i’d wear this often personally but it is very nice.
sasasa46574 – :
classic, straight forward, yet really well blended. really enjoyed the authentic lemon, which lasts for a good amount of time. then transitions to mellow floral with hints of wood, and also a bit of vanilla. and you know you the price is good when it comes to Le Couvent des Minimes

After reading the nice reviews here, I think I’ll have to retry this.
I tried it in Ulta but all I smelled of it was furniture polish. Too many other smells flying around, or maybe too much on my clothes. I liked it at first spritz.
bublik – :
Eau des Minimes is exactly the kind of citrus fragrance that I love: straightforward, realistic, just sweet enough and just sour/zesty enough, and with just the right amount of other notes to make it perfume-like (it’s just the slightest bit aromatic because of the rosemary, which is lovely). It’s very fresh and invigorating, perfect for summer – or other seasons, when you want to be reminded of summer: it’s brightening up this snowy december day to no end for me, it’s really very uplifting. Of course it’s not very complex, there’s not much depth or mystery to it and it doesn’t develop much throughout its rather short lifespan, but who cares when the initial scent is such an instant mood lift, and it’s so cheap that you can reapply to your heart’s content without worrying?
taker – :
This is a lovely cologne, and very odd….
The initial, gorgeous, sour grapefruit lingers for maybe 20 minutes and leaves a delicate floral residue, which slowly fades over the next hour. It is eau de cologne, after all….
Then, when you think the show’s over, you move slightly and from nowhere comes a waft of a fresh country garden, a thrill of heavy evening fragrance after a sweltering day. This continues to happen for the rest of the day.
A second joy of this scent is that, even locked away on a cupboard, and the bottle top securely tightened, the fragrance pervades my room.
I’m so glad I found this little gem.
talba – :
Eau de Minimes Cologne’s composition is based on original recipes distilled in convents since the 14th century, with natural ingredients and a combination of plants, citrus fruits and curative waters.
Describing the scent, lemon is the first note that stands out in the opening, but its sourness is quickly captured and stabilized by the weight of the resinous compound – benzoin. This initial interaction of notes seemed quite peculiar for me. I do not remember to have met it before.
Following, the fragrance gets a denser citrus body, composed of grapefruit, blood orange and neroli. The aroma of herbs and roots (bardana) appear gradually providing aromatic and earthy tones. Since the beginning, benzoin has been present, also giving an expressive medicinal touch to the drydown.
At first, a simple description that we may judge not able to arouse enthusiasm, however, for me, something unexpected happened: it reminded me of some magical place between the kitchen and the garden. (???)
When I was a kid and used to play amidst plants and flowers in the yard, my clothes and hair had the aroma of leaves and herbs. I jumped, danced and ran until exhaustion and thirst. Then I entered the kitchen, breathless and dirty, with red/hot cheeks, to find the loving Grandma’s smile offering me that refreshing glass of slightly sweet lemonade. After drinking it, I used to get into this magical space of satisfaction, healing and peace, between the kitchen and the garden.
These reminiscences and sensations convinced me that this fragrance really has a curative and/or revitalizing potential. Its lightness allows abundant aplication, the projection is small, but there is good longevity concerning the aromatic and resinous aspects.
In my opinion, it is simply adorable! 🙂

Delicious citrus juice! Very refreshing, energetic and relaxing at the same time, very clean aroma.
Sanitar25 – :
Refreshing, unassuming, invigorating citrus without a hint of ‘cleaning supplies’ to be found. It’s very gentle, with a dash of herbal and a tad sweet. It reminds me of the feeling of peace you get when the house is clean, bills are paid, and there are no responsibilities currently nagging at your brain. It’s quite calming, I like to wear it when my nerves are a bit on edge or I just need a pick-me-up. It never outstays its welcome either. By the time it’s worked its magic on me (within a few hours), it gently fades away and steps aside for my next olfactory indulgence.
zeka36ru – :
A zesty, fresh, and vibrant lemon citrus scent. It’s really uplifting to wear during those days you don’t want to be bothered by anything or anyone. It smells like lemon peels/lemon zest. Very natural smelling but it doesn’t last long (well, I guess 5 hours is pretty good for a natural smelling citrus scent). I am proud to have received a 1.0oz bottle of this with my purchase of Eau Des Missions.
Expaxidiola – :
I never heard about this brand, until yesterday when I saw the whole line in a drogarie and I felt in love with this light luminous citrus fragrance for summer.
It´s really very pleasant, classic cologne smell, but I would say a female citrus scent in my opnion.
But the best is the natural, good Quality ingredients and the very fair Price.
It´s very good tip for someone who want to smell really good, without spending too much.
Ferrionbir – :
Starts as a very zesty, sour, non sweet, alcoholic pomegranate.
After that it turns smelling like a little sweeter (but not candied) lemon with a hint of mint & cedar.
A very pleasant, unoffensive fragrance. Great for layering and for people who normally dislike citrus fragrances. Only the sillage is a little poor.
svencoop – :
At first it is very zesty and indeed. 4 hours later is is a milder, clean and fresh citrus smell. Makes me happy. This could be worn by a man or woman. Another one I need to add to my list!
addition: 6 hours later it is still going, and is a wonderful natural smelling clean citrus smell. Not too strong. Great!
Stycle – :
Eau des Minimes is a zesty and invigorating mixture of lemon and grapefruit. Not so astringently green, but the right amount of acidity to revive one’s nostril. There is also neroli floating around, adding some perfume-y feeling. I don’t detect benzoin particularly but it has a sheer base holding the scent for about 7 hours, though the sillage is extremely close to the skin.
This is a very comfortable, natural and affordable citrus cologne ideal for those “no perfume” days. It may not meet this or that particular criteria as some high-end offerings. But if you’re just looking for an easy-to-wear citrus cologne with a natural quality, I think Eau des Minimes worths a shot.
romyald – :
smells like lemondrop candy with a bit of woodiness. perfect for hot Miami weather. so fresh, so clean.
molohara – :
Love love love this scent !! Very fresh, but not green, citrusy but not too much (I detect bergamot orange, although it’s not listed), with something incredibly “sparkling”, and yet classy.
For me, the best cologne for warm days (I also found myself using it during winter)
nightnsd – :
Bought this one at the supermarket and fell in love with the scent.Reminds me a lot of eau de pamplemousse by Hermés.
Deroxqbscf – :
A recipe of former days made by Carmelites. Very fresh as all eaux de Cologne but with a special classy touch. The reasonable price is able to afford you to use it as eau de linge and spray it on pillows.
alinaturskay – :
I tested this one today and I liked it a lot from first sniff!
I’m not generally a citrus person and I cannot stand fruity modern scents.
I often go for floral-orientals, but this cologne really grabbed my attention, because it’s very fresh, sweet and uplifting. I went around for 2 hours wearing it on my neck and my scarf and it was a very pleasant smell coming up to my nose.
It doesn’t go bad as many flat and poor/fake quality citrus scents.
I was tired and not so in a good mood, but the Couvent cologne lifted my mood and made me feel fresh again, not so tired.
I like it because it’s not all about citrus. The opening is strongly lemony, but soon rosemary kicks out and neroli is even stronger. I could not smell clear benzoin but it probably works here as a good base. It lasted quite long with a good sillage, so it’s not exactly a refreshing cologne like 4711 that fades very quickly and probably meant to.
It could suit men, too, but I feel it like a more feminine summer scent. I think about purchasing to boost my mood, especially at the end of the day. I love Dior Escale at Portofino. This one is quite similar, not the same and could be a much cheaper option.
arash08 – :
EAU DES MINIMES COLOGNE is apparently the original 1862 recipe, and it smells swell to me! Very natural and refreshing. Somewhat herbal, somewhat citrus, lightly floral, but there’s a slightly perfumey quality to this cologne in the drydown, probably from the benzoin.
The longevity is not the greatest, but hey: when you have 250 ml (or 500ml!) you can pour it on or re-spritz with reckless abandon. A fine unisex citrus cologne. I recommend it highly.
LERTWAIBILE – :
Fresh and Uplifting. I wear it every day after showering and the feeling lasts all day. Draw compliments and curiosity … Perfect for hot days and every day here in this tropical country – Brazil.
The 500 ml bottle stands out among the others in every collection …

Soft citrus fragrance, great for summer, after the bath. Longevity media (4h) and small silage (1/2h). An aroma that can be used to relax after a day exhausting. Another quality is the low price.
