That’s just amazing. The ultimate smell of damp earth. Love it. Demeter’s ‘Dirt’ is nothing compared to this. I hear “Earthworm’ is soon gonna be off the market, so hurry up and grab some earth while it’s there.

I had Dirt a few years ago i liked the initial smell, but it always had a patchouli dry down on me and I really dislike patchouli. This is what I was looking for! Moist earth, so fresh. Smells like driving by the newly tilled farms in the town we live in. This is the smell that is missing from Demeter’s Petrichor. I’m curious about Beetroot.

Love it , shame it really doesn’t last.

This one makes me laugh every time! Oh, poor poor sister…#noRAGrets #sorrynotsorry
I always played in the dirt to catch worms as a kid. My great-grandma …raised? them to sell to the local fishermen as bait or whatever (she kept them in this giant cement coffin-looking thing, so I guess that’s raising them, although it sounds more like she imprisoned them now I think about it). And I mess around with plants now as an adult and sometimes even manage to not kill them! So now that I have listed my references as to Why I Know Dirt, I can say this is a good “dirt” scent!
Moist, EARTHY. Like the dirt that stays in shady places and always has things decomposing in it. How they ever got this into perfume form has got to be WITCHCRAFT.
As to the worm part…there might be hints of it there, but it’s not the gross protein-y smell associated with dead worms or anything. It really does just smell like rich soil. On paper AND on skin. I find it very pleasant, even after it fades and turns into a pretty, soft “green” scent.
EDIT: Hours later and this STILL smells great.

I agree with Pope Jean about Earthworm. It is just wonderful – a deeper, moister version of Dirt. However, it’s longevity is amazingly short, even for a Demeter. It lasted about 15 minutes on me, and then vanished without a trace. Such a shame, because it really is a very calming, grounding scent, especially for us city dwellers who have no gardens or property to enjoy. I won’t reorder, strictly on the quick disappearing act.

Amazing! I’ve always loved soil scents and always get strange looks when I tell people that, until I give them a sample. I was a bit scared away from “earthworm” because I pictured the slimy little beasts that come out and drown when it rains. But that is not this fragrance (or maybe it is, which I’ll explain).
This fragrance is of wet, wet earth, buried beneath a layer of fall leaves, and they’ve begun to decompose, but not in the gross, disgusting way that something left in your fridge too long decomposes, this is the pure, natural decomposition of fall, of returning to earth, of dust to dust. There’s a slight sweetness to it, as the leaves break down, and a slight mustiness from the damp of leftover snow, a light spring rain, and beautiful warm sunshine. You take a shovel to this patch of autumn leaf covered soil, dig in about 8 inches, and *that* is what this smell is. The soil is dark, almost black, loamy, fertile, and it smells like life itself… and that scent is most likely due to the earthworms crawling through breaking down the plant material and leaving castings, making a beautiful soil in which to grow spring flower and tomato plants or even plant a tree.
This scent is potential. It is life waiting to happen. It is full and lush and unashamed. I love it so very much.
Unfortunately, the bottle I got arrived partly opened, and only 1/3 of the product was left in the bottle. I did get a full refund, but when I spray the fragrance, I smell it as I am spraying it, but the moment it hits my skin it is gone. I don’t mean in the way Demeter fragrances are famous for, I mean – not there at all. I am wondering if the majority of the oil from this scent was lost when it leaked from the bottle during shipping, because even for Demeter, I can’t imagine something that disappears this fast. I hope to be able to find another bottle at a decent price one day soon. I’d buy off the Demeter website, but I need something with a bit of longevity before I pay $39.50 for 4oz that I’ll go through in under a month!

Loamy, mulchy, leafy soil.
A darker, richer scent than plain old dirt. Dirt has a dry quality to it, while Earthworm definitely evokes a pleasant aura of moisture.
Don’t let the thought of worms and decay creep you out. On the contrary, it’s an earthy, fertile smell.

Smells like worms crawling out on to an asphalt road after a rain. Then getting runover! Neat, nostalgic and nauseating!
Yes, I totaly bought this… with money.

At first I was scared because this smelled like wet mold, on an old building. Left it a little bit and when I sniffed again, it even had some sweet notes. I love it ! Very interesting scent.

Dont knock it til you try it! It smells amazing.

Oh no they didn’t! I have yet to smell this, but I really don’t think anyone could bribe me to anyways, Lol. Although I may be willing to try the funeral home one- that might be somewhat decent.

I love to wear this when I’m going hiking, out in the garden…or in the absolute dead of winter, when I have cabin fever. To me, this smells like kicking a pile of leaves, spring damp. I love it, but it is not for everyone.

Go home, Demeter. You’re drunk.
