Description

Jo Malone introduces the new limited edition of fragrance in collaboration with famous perfumer Christine Nagel, inspired by various kinds of tea and their extra flavors. In accordance with the British tradition of daily tea ritual, five fragrances that correspond to five different tea flavors are presented.

Earl Grey and Cucumber is a playful interpretation of the most famous English tea brand, made from black tea, bergamot and citruses. The composition opens with apple, bergamot, jasmine and aquatic notes, with cucumber, angelica and davana in the heart, on the base of vanilla, bees wax, cedar and musk.

It is available as 30 ml cologne.

Earl Grey & Cucumber was launched in 2011.

Opening reminds me of a softer Mugler Cologne. After a few moments it changes and becomes a bit more complex, which I like. Smells really good with Blackberry & Bay OR Lime Basil & Mandarine.

I get zero cucumber, and only the earl grey tea. The tea note here has resemblance to Twining’s earl grey tea, it has the same citrusy fragrance and a very subtle tea smell, only this one is way, way more subtle, which is a very common thing for Jo Malone. Whenever they will put a certain note on its name will either be way too subtle, or nothing at all, and the majority is just a cloud of perfumeyness, that’s why I’m not a huge fan of this brand, but this one is not bad at all. Out of all the Jo Malone scents that I’ve tried, this one is the few that I like, along with French Lime Blossom which is the best from all of the Jo Malones that I’ve smelled.

Ice-cold, honey-sweetened, refreshing, citrusy drink with a splash of cucumber and vanilla.
Does it last more than 2 hours? No.
Is there any fragrance that smells similar to it? No.
Does it smell like a cleaning product? A little bit.
Still, there’s something about it that makes me stick my nose to my skin every time I test-spray it. It’s cooling, it’s fresh, it’s clean, it’s musky, it’s citrusy, it’s sweet, it’s addicting.
Too short-lived for me, but props to Christine Nagel for this beauty!

Very nice. Smells like what it sounds like, of Earl Grey tea and cucumber. It leans slightly feminine in my opinion. Good sillage, and moderate longevity.

too fricken cold for this I smell NOTHING
Must revisit in the summer like reviews r
saying… otha then that smells pleasant
    10+ sprays too ***UPDATE*** summer
And it’s even worse. NOT a summer or
spring scent. I thought I’d like this but it
is manly! Manly AND weak at the same
time – worst of both worlds, a total waste

Can anyone help me out with a similar fragrance. I am a fresh perfume person, and usually stick to Yves Rocher. I got a sample of this because on paper it smelled heavenly. For some reason this fit my perfect cloudy fall day idea until it hit that old lady drydown that i’ve now seen other people complain about. Its so hard to find a fall perfume that doesn’t smell like a yankee candle or that one aunt that you hold your breath around. If anyone knows something that smells similarly fresh but simultaneously suited for colder weather I’d absolutely love to hear it. I had really thought my search was over, but I guess not. I do really still like the perfume, Im just looking for something a bit younger without being sugary sweet, tropical, or like a frosted donut.

This is my absolute favourite summer fragrance ever! It’s so unique and yet relatively simple. Smells fantastic on and lasts all day on my skin.
It softens beautiful. Elegant, subtle, complimentary. Can’t go wrong with this.

Earl Grey and Cucumber is my signature fragrance. It is absolutely amazing. It’s clean and fresh and dries down soft and elegant and lasts for hours on me. It’s really inoffensive and perfect for an office environment. I’ve developed allergies over the years and have had to give up many fragrances but I can wear this with no worries.

I tried so many times to like this fragrance. I spritzed several different sample vials on me. It changed with my body chemistry into ammonia. I tried a different sample. I bought a bigger bottle. It just kept smelling worse! I spritzed it onto paper, and it smelled pleasant after the dry down. On me, it turns into cat pee. I had a similar experience with the Bvlgari tea fragrances: green, white. The only tea fragrance that smells gorgeous on me is Bvlgari Red Tea. Weird?

I don’t really get tea or cucumber here, but the cardamom and coriander do come up quite a bit.

I was coming back to the States from a trip to London and noticed the Jo Malone store in the duty free section. One of my favorite teas is Earl Grey, so naturally tried Earl Grey & Cucumber and a few others, that I cannot remember.
There wasn’t a lot of time for the perfume to settle, but I had sales woman give me her “smell approval” and she agreed that the Earl Grey was the best. I loved it for it’s spicyness and I think that compliments my personality.
When I started wearing it at home I didn’t seem like the smell held a long time (a common Jo Malone complaint), but a co-worker would always comment on how “aaaaamaaaaazing” I smelled in it. Then I tried smelling my clothes after a day and noticed the scent really hangs on there. And I think it’s a good scent for any season.
I got the larger bottle (normally $130, but $100 @ the duty free) and it’s nearly been a year and I’m almost done with it. I’ve come to enjoy the “lightness”. I work in an office with an open floorplan and while I want to smell nice, I don’t want to overwhelm anyone sitting next to me. I also like that I can be pretty heavy handed with this perfume, unlike my Givenchy Irresistible; it gets a ton of compliments but go over 2 spritzes and you’ve got a headache and need to apologize to anyone within 5 feet. That being said, when I restock I might splurge and also get a little bottle that I can carry around with me…and definitely monogramming!
As I said I’ve almost run out & I was starting to go crazy reading reviews and trying to find “my next scent.” Because blind buying perfume can be dangerous I ordered some Jo Malone samples from Surrender To Change. Yikes, the Earl Grey is definitely the Jo Malone for me. The others I tried on left a soapy after smell (dry-down? I’m new to the perfume lingo, ha!) and didn’t merit the steep price tag.

I am a die-hard fan of earl grey scent. I’ve been searching everywhere to find a perfume that make me able to smell earl grey tea all day long.
So i was SO excited when this scent came out. I tried it at the counter and found that.. the earl grey note lasted… just less than 30 mins… But as i said i’m a die-hard fan of earl grey scent and i’m still unable to find any perfume with this scent, so i bought it….
Now i’m even certain that the earl grey note lasted so short, even less than 10 minutes…
What’s left largely reminded me of floral-scent powder. And, too bad, i’m never a fan of floral scents. It’s floral. It’s airy. No trace of cucumber or apple to me. Only sweet vanilla, some honey &musk, also a bit smokey. Some people here said the middle note smell like old ladies… I think they’re not exaggeration. The middle note is very.. traditional tome.
Glad to have read some comments suggesting combining it with something else.
p.s. Isn’t there anyway to make citrusy scents last longer???!!

Edited Review: I was haunted all day by what I thought was a warm cup of coffee with milk. Every where I went, I smelled it. Turns out, there was not coffee. Just this fragrance on me. I smelled like a warm cup of tea with milk. And it was rather comforting for a day like today.
Original Review: This is just a fun/novelty scent to have. Not a strong love for me with this one. It has the draw of earl grey, and you can definitely smell it. But because mixed with the citrus notes, it just smells a lot like sweet flavored tea you get out from a Harney & Sons tea box. I was hoping it would go for a more dry woody smell, less sweet. I think Jo Malone should experiment a bit more with tea as it does fit with their brand.

Just picked this up today and I relly like it so far – I think because this is citrus-y it would pair up really nicely with ‘Woodsage & Sea Salt’ to make a fresh coastal citrus scent which would be lovely for late summer or a rather wet mid summer like we are having here in Glasgow right now! I haven’t road tested this all day yet so hoping longevity is good!
EDIT – decent longevity around 4 hours or so – better if paired up with something (Dark Amber & Gingerlily is a winner)

This is not for me. I drink Earl Grey tea a lot, but this scent is only Earl Grey and Cucumber for the first half-hour. After that, it is a vanilla honey musk. And I don’t like that combination.

Refreshing yet herbal. Its what Aromatic Elixir Clinique should have been, instead of being a crazy intense old lady scent. I do like this. Does not make me feel vibrant, or excited. But its pleasant enough. Probably more to be admired on a rainy day, wearing blacks and grey with a fantastic pair of boots.

lovely, very light to the point where you think you are wearing nothing then you press your nose to your hand and smell the beeswax !
lovely skin scent, sillage is none existent

I adore this perfume… I mix it with Oud and Bergamot which gives the Oud/Bergaot a much fresher smell.

What I love about this is that on me I don’t smell tea or cucumber, 2 notes that I don’t usually enjoy. I get a sweet bergamote and some vanilla.
You’re not likely to offend anyone with this, beautiful fragrance, easily unisex. I just wish they’d do an intense version.
I haven’t combined them but I bet this would go great with nutmeg & ginger

I love the Earl Grey tea, so this fragrance seemed created just for me. It ‘really very elegant, the only problem is the length: really short 🙁

I first bought this fragrance in the middle of winter about a year and a half ago, I loved the fresh but cozy Earl Grey opening, with an almost gingerale-like fizziness. However, it was an impulse buy, and in the cold weather I found the beeswax dry-down dusty and sickly so I put it away and basically ignored it for 18 months. This past summer I pulled it out again on one of those days where you just want something different from the usual rotation- a hot, humid scorcher. This needs to be extremely generously sprayed in hot weather, but the warmth gave it the kick it needed to be fresh, spicy, and refreshing. I’m glad I gave this one another chance, and I’ve learned the same lesson over and over again now–weather really can make a huge impact on my perceptions about a scent.

This is, by far, one of my favorite Jo Malone fragrances. For reference, my favorite tea is Earl Grey, and I think Earl Grey & Cucumber accurately reflects the feeling of imbibing a cup of Earl Grey — fresh, cozy, and warm all at the same time.
The opening is a blast of bergamot, but the dry down is soft, vanilla white musk with a kiss of jasmine. It stays close to the skin, and the lasting power is maybe 4 hours before a refresh is needed.
I find Earl Grey & Cucumber to be very work appropriate – not too strong, or offensive. It pairs beautifully with the English Pear & Freesia body cream, but also stands well on its own. Earl Grey is one of the few JM fragrances that can be used on its own.
Overall, glad I discovered this. I bought the smaller bottle, but may buy the larger one once I run out.

I love all Jo Malone fragrances but I have always been disappointed about their longevity.
This one, however, is the one for me!! The smell is sophisticated : I don’t detect much cucumber but I get a lot of tea and something flowery. Another plus: compared to other JM I have, it lasted more than 5 hours (for the price it should last longer imo). Also, when combined with JM Blue agava and cacao it gives a deeper and elegant touch. Love it !!

  24. :

Fresh and clean. My personal #1 from JM thus far. Even after working in the yard during the summer it still smells so nice. I get better longevity out of this that any other JM, except maybe pomegranate noir.

Recently purchased this scent after being super impressed with the initial burst of fresh earl grey upon first application. This scent certainly evolves. I feel like it starts out with a super tea, fresh sweet smell, sometimes reminding me of an Earl Grey Latte…. Fresh with sweet milky tones. (Warning, I now smell some manly notes here so women beware… It’s reminding me of a man’s cologne more than I’d like it to. My husband said I smell like a Pine car freshener, ouch!)
Then it dries down into a green tea type smell, reminds of me Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. It’s clean, sweet, easy to wear.
The final dry down is a nice watery, freshly showered smell.
All in all, I find this smell to be unique, elegant, fresh, sweet and comforting 🙂

  26. :

    4 out of 5

Limey limey limey! First blast of this is ALL the bergamot. It then settles down to the lovely musky tea notes whilst still staying fresh, light and citrussy. I have to say, the cucumber isn’t super prominent for me but I think that is what is keeping the Tea notes so fresh as the fragrance dries down.
I LOVE this on hot summer nights when it seems to go into overdrive (probably due to perspiration). It doesn’t last long on me (but nothing really does) but it’s so lovely to reapply that it’s no chore.
Word of warning – my boyfriend tried this once – it smelt like toilet cleaner on him! Something about his chemistry set it off badly so definitely one to sample and not go on reviews alone.
Just finished my 30ml of this and sad to see it go, although will probably replace with the new Diptyque Eau des Sens instead as I can’t get it out of my head….

A happy, feminine bottle of beauty that breaks my heart because of its poor longevity. If it wasn’t for that one fatal flaw this would be one of my favorites of all scents.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

I love to drink floral earl grey teas, so this was an easy sell to me. It has a slightly musky perfume smell about it as well, which is great because then it doesn’t smell like you spilled your tea all over yourself before leaving the house. Excellent!

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Very refreshing smell. Elegant and sophisticated. I can smell the earl grey, but not the cucumber – but no complaints there. I spritz this on right after shower after gym.

  30. :

    3 out of 5

So classy clean. Can’t smell the cucumber and earl grey seperately but together it’s an awesome scent. Opens fresh but dries down into a soft cream. Sillage and longevity is good among other JM perfumes.

  31. :

    4 out of 5

,I wanted to love Earl Grey and Cucumber, and I DID love it at first spray, but it morphed so quickly into sickeningly sweet old lady smell that I was nearly panicked when it wouldn’t come off my skin even after washing. Longevity problem my ass! I was so grossed out that I thought, well, if I spray something else on it, it can’t get any worse, right?
So I spritzed one small amount of Kim Kardashian’s Pure Honey on top of the Jo Malone nightmare. Now it’s a whole new fragrance! I love it! I smell so beautiful and soft and warm, and the two scents kind of mellow each other out. Makes sense, honey with tea, but I was worried about all that sweetness. If I could bottle the two together though, it would be my signature scent, and I think I could wear it year round, or at least until summer (might actually be a little too sweet for summer).
So, would I buy this cologne? Not for that price tag when I have to mix it with something else to get the desired results. However, on someone with different chemistry than me, Earl Grey and Cucumber is probably a clear winner. I wish I could be that person.

Beautiful! Best tea fragrance I’ve smelled. It’s like sipping a freshly brewed cup of Earl Grey tea, breathing in the fragrant steam with a touch of fresh honey comb. I really love this one. This is my second favorite in the line. Surprisingly it really projects and lasts a long time. I love it best in the evening after a long hot bath. So relaxing!

  33. :

    4 out of 5

Beautiful clean and fresh scent. The first thing i get is the citrus, hinting at the Earl Grey tea. After about 10 minutes this mellows down and i can smell the jasmine.
Not sure if i get something soapy but in a nice way. I dont really get the cucumber in there but overall it’s one of my favourite Jo Malones.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

Fresh scent – predominantly Earl Grey and angelica on me, feels and shines like a pearl, so elegant and innocent. Comforting waxy base. Its like a touch of beige lipstick left on a tea-mug.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

Love this it’s clean, refreshing, sparkling, all the time, any time. I like the soothing dry down which I presume is the beeswax. It lasts all day on me. I read somewhere it smells of Claridges and this pleases me enormously.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

Safe and pleasant but subject to the usual host of projection/longevity criticisms to which Jo Malone colognes are usually subjected, Earl Grey and Cucumber is on par with some of the better fragrances that I’ve tried, like Blue Agava & Cacao and Red Roses. The two titular notes blend well, with other elements, like musk and beeswax, sealing the deal from a bright opening with bergamot to a sweet dry down with vanilla, cedar, and beeswax. Very good “fresh to sweet” transition.
Obviously a more ideal choice for summer than winter but as it’s not overloaded with citrus, this could work year-round, despite the disadvantages of lacking projection and longevity (it does not radiate beyond a foot and only is beyond a skin scent for a few hours). It’s not lacking in identity, but as with other Jo Malones, price is the biggest objection for overall strength of the product.

I am a big fan of Jo Malone scents, despite the question of longevity… So when I first sprayed this I thought, “this is EA Green Tea for a larger price tag”, because the opening is practically identical.
The magic happens about a half hour later when the cedar, vanilla and jasmine reveal the heart of this scent. At this point it is almost a dupe for Kiehl’s Vanilla & Cedarwood.
Most definitely unisex, fresh and yet slightly musky/spicy.
It’s one of those fragrances that once you catch a whiff, you’re intrigued.

  38. :

I love Earl Grey and Cucumber cologne, it is a fresh burst of bergamot that dries down to a soft musky scent. This is great mixed with Nutmeg and Ginger for a warm and cozy feeling in the cold weather. I also mix it with Wood Sage and Sea Salt for that extra bit of musk, also a very nice combination. I would not want to be without any of the above Jo Malone colognes and I love trying out new combinations to suit my mood and the weather.

  39. :

unique and i am definitely going to get a 30 ml , earl grey and cucumber is so fresh but not in the summer fresh kind of way is sophisticated , for sure blackberry and bay , wood sage and sea salt and earl grey and cucumber are some of jo malones best scents

Totally adored this very clean, crisp, refreshing scent. The Earl grey “jumps” at me, could not catch the cucumber though.
Consider rather pricey for a cologne. Paid SGD193(approx USD143) for 100ml after a 15% discount at Paragon Siam Center in bangkok.

This is like getting up on a cold morning and having that first cup of tea that warms and brightens you. Earl Grey is one of the most aromatic teas and this perfume brings it home. It has a warm enveloping aroma, the fragrance does surround you with the feeling of humid tea enlivened with crisp cucumber that’s barely there. There is also a faint powdery note underneath. My first reaction was “wow” – and I spritzed even more all over to enjoy the feeling. As a perfume, Earl Grey and Cucumber is a completely delightful experience. Sillage was moderate on me, and longevity about 3 hours. Lovely!

***UPDATE AT BOTTOM OF THIS POST***
One sniff & I was asking the salesperson for a bottle!
I love Earl Grey tea and all things bergamot. The cucumber is very subtle but nicely lightens up the overall fragrance just a teeny tiny bit.
I like this, but I am not sure I love it…yet. Before I entertain taking it back to exchange it for yet another JM scent, I will wear it more.
The thing that causes me to pause is the beeswax/honey that I get at drydown. There is something cloying about it. I want to LOVE this because when I took that first whiff it floored me.
I love JM fragrances, I’m not sure what the big deal is with people saying they cannot smell it after a while. I guess it depends on what you’re going for. If you want to leave a scent trail…UGH and piss everyone within 5 ft of you off, then Yeah…Um no, her scents may not be for you.
However, if like me, wearing perfumes is personal and not some need for the world to smell you every time you move, then they are for you.
I get a whiff of myself and it can either calm me, soothe me, excite me, make me happy or horny and sometimes will invoke painful but familiar (smelling my dad’s fav cologne) memories.
So…I’ll update my review after I’ve worn this a few more times.
***UPDATE***: Okay, the drydown on this was too too much, it was headache inducing and I hate that I had to give it up. I just couldnt see having it crowded in with all my other scents collecting dust. So, I took it back and got Wood Sage and Sea Salt. This one I knew I loved but wanted to wait on it. I also tried the Osmanthus…and the Plum Blossom from the new collection and they are beautiful.
I wished I would have loved the Earl Grey…but it just wasn’t for me.

Light but spicy, deep but refreshing. Earl grey and cucumber is a bit of a contradiction!
I personally love this scent, I really get the citrus through the bergamot and the soft sweetness of the vanilla but then there is a freshness about it which brings everything together and a spiciness that I love.
It is obviously quite hard for me to describe due to its complexity. As an earl grey tea drinker, I find this hard to dislike in any way. A scent that I could easily wear from Summer through to Winter and either day or night. It is just lovely, I would recommend that you give it a try.

Very interesting scent, it’s fairly aromatic and spicy on me, but also fresh. I immediately picked up angelica in the composition, even before I had a chance to look at the notes. The bergamot and musk are quite noticeable, too. Overall, it does resemble earl grey tea a little. Smells good when mixed together with Sweet Milk.

Love at first whiff. Exceptionally beautiful, clean, fresh, sweet, and classy. No note stands out for me, Earl Grey & Cucumber is so well-blended. Very versatile. Good for people who need a subtle fragrance for office or church, or who don’t like strong fragrances. Lasts reasonably well for a subtle fragrance, makes you feel fresh all day, though it stays close to the skin. Full bottle worthy for me.

I’ve had this around for a while now and seldom wear it. I like the opener a LOT. I like the fresh smell, the bergamot especially. But the drydown always bugs me. Rather powdery. Musk and beeswax. A bit cloying on me.

  48. :

    5 out of 5

Exquisite is the word that comes to mind when describing this fragrance.
I had the opportunity to try some niche scents, and I stumbled upon this fragrance, and I’m glad I did. It opens up with a beautiful combination of watery cucumbers and something citrusy. Then it dries down to a black tea scent with a slightly musky accord. It shares some similarities with other tea based fragrances, like Gucci Pour Homme II, but isn’t as spicy.
Some say Jo Malone fragrances have no lasting power whatsoever, but I disagree. I sprayed it seven hours before I showered. I use Irish Spring shower gel, and even that couldn’t completely remove the scent. While it does last for a good amount of time, it does not project very well, but that isn’t a big issue when dealing with this kind of scent because it’s meant to be light.
Having tried two Jo Malone fragrances so far, I have to say I am impressed with the brand, and I will definitely come back for more because they have some very interesting products.
If you are a fan of tea fragrances, then I recommend you give this one a try. It smells very natural and wonderful.

As someone of a British background, I knew I had to try this as soon as I read the name and I was not disappointed. I get a very realistic earl grey tea note (bergamot and black tea), that becomes more lady grey (more tea, less bergamot) as it progresses. The cucumber keeps it fresh and adds a slight tang when combined with the bergamot. Very fresh and clean, but sophisticated and elegant. Highly recommended for the height of summer.

  50. :

I was so sure I’d love this, but I ordered a sample, and I can’t believe how much I hate it. All I get is a sickly beeswax smell. Long staying power though!
If you want something that smells like earl grey, try Bvlgari au the verte. It smells exactly like the Earl grey green tea I drink.

  51. :

i really wanted to like this, but i only like the dry down. the first spray was spicy and citrusy on me (at the same time) and the combination was just plain nauseating & slightly pungent. the dry down however, was soft, clean, and comforting and tickled my nose in a pleasant way.

  52. :

Such a creamy scent — this smells like delicious frozen yogurt. Very light, not long lasting — just like the dessert it reminds me of.

  53. :

    4 out of 5

I just want the first scent longer till it dry down. the first sniff is earl grey & nice bergamot smelling but it’s quickly gone and turn to sweetness with a hint of tea smelling after then. Very sweet but still nice and unique one. Just want it to reduce sweet, more bergamot & tea and i will divine. No cucumber detected.

  54. :

Now, THIS is really unique; I’ve never smelled anything like it. It smells just like Earl Grey tea and milk, which sounds odd (and is), but it really smells wonderful on. It’s a really beautiful fragrance, very refined and elegant. For some reason, it just seems perfect to wear with a white silk blouse, pearls , a sexy pencil skirt, and heels. I’m a big Jo Malone fan, but some of these colognes just don’t work for me. THIS I like. Despite the cucumber in the name, I don’t detect any cucumber at all, but that’s just fine. I’m not sure it would be better if you could; after all, how many additional unusual notes do we want to throw together when we’re starting with milk and earl grey tea? It’s not a fragrance I personally would wear every day; it’s perfect for a day when I want to feel pulled together and confident , ladylike and lovely, at work or for a dinner out. It’s very understated and refined, but it lasts all day. A very, very nice fragrance. And definitely different. For me, it’s a keeper.

This fragrance took me by suprise. I was expecting savoury tea scent but got sweet version instead. Bergamot dominates for about one minute, then it quickly getstaken over by sweetness of beeswax and jasmine. I still like wearing it, makes me feel happy 🙂

  56. :

    4 out of 5

Much like another reviewer, I expected high tea in a bottle, the bergamot balanced out by a cool cucumber tonic. Unfortunately, I got neither. The bergamot starts well upon first blush than fades away quickly and thoroughly. On me, it seemed all that was left was the faint trace of apple.

There is a heavy dose of bergamot at first, but it dissipates within 20 minutes. I don’t smell any cucumber or cucumber sandwiches. If there is cucumber here, it is not realistic.
Luckily when this dries down, it smells like black tea with milk. The beeswax is very pronounced. I love it! It also smells a lot like honey-coated wheat flakes with milk.
This was not high tea in a bottle as I hoped it would be, but it’s a creamy and simple tea. Sometimes I think it smells like powdered milk and sugar. Will be great for layering with other Jo Malone perfumes.

Just to add to my review below…
I rarely use this really but when I do I layer it with the Lime, Basil and Mandarin gel moussant straight out of the shower and it’s a mega refreshing experience!
So invigorating and really wakes you up in a morning.
I just have it in my head that it’s more of a summer fragrance due to the freshness factor.
Lovely stuff though and works well on a man…well me anyway.

Really loved it. Soft earl grey tea with the cucumber blending in progressively without getting strong. Can’t take my nose off from my wrist. I think I will love it on a man too.

I liked it more in the shop when I first tried it.
This one was by far my favourite but now I’ve gone from loving it to just liking it.
I’ve nothing negetive to say here it’s super fresh I get the notes of beeswax & the cucumber and apple freshness and then lots of tea.
Always feel really clean and refreshed wearing this.

This is a can’t go wrong scent, It’s delicate, fresh, fun, sparkling, uplifting all in one, the SA @ Nord’s recommended I try it layered with the Nectarine Blossom beings I already own that…&& Omg I fell in love I was catching subtle wiffs of it as I continued walking through the mall && could not stop smelling my arm, it paired so well && gave me a happy feeling when I smelled it…&& well you can’t go wrong with that, now I want it so I can layer…try it out && try that layering pair out as well. 🙂

First spray: strong earl grey tea, cucumber, honey.
Dry down: the black tea starts warming, green notes fade. Honey, vanilla and musk come through.
After a few hours: black tea, vanilla, hints of bergamot and sweet honey. Cooked apples come through gently behind the warm sweet tea scent.

This fragrance is gorgeous and delicate on paper but gets to be almost nauseatingly strong once I tried it on my skin. If you love the bergamot kick from a strong earl grey you’ll recognize it here right away, but the powdery vanilla notes come out too sweet for me. I love the idea of an earl grey fragrance but there’s just too much added sugar.

Like Darling Starling (great name by the way), I fell in love with this after testing it at a Jo Malone store (at Edinburgh Airport). I couldn’t stop smelling my wrists and loved the way it dried down – and it lasted hours.
So – on my next trip through an airport (Heathrow this time) I bought some. And had exactly the same experience as Darling – this bottle was sharp, tangy, spicy and not a bit like the Edinburgh example. I feel (and smell) like I’m wearing cheap drain cleaner.
So disappointed because the first try was heaven – I had found my ‘for-life’ scent.
Either their manufacture is inconsistent or this has oxisised, maybe?
By the way – not discontinued in the UK!

I absolutely loved the smell of this perfume in the shop, I had already sprayed two perfurms on my wrist so didn’t actually try it. Now that I am wearing it, it’s gone very powdery on me, it’s not disgusting but its certainly nothing like how it smells on card. There must be something in it that just doesn’t suit my skin, any suggestions as to what I could mix it with to see if I get a better result? Such a waste otherwise 🙁

This perfum is very good and it suits better in Autumn and Winter.
The tea sensation is really nice and not pushy.
It is really a pity that it is no longer on the market.

When I first tried it out at the counter, it was a pleasant surprise as Earl Grey tea is one of my favorite teas and I could identify it instantly. It’s not as smokey as a ‘russian’ earl grey, more like a straight up ‘english’ one. The cucumber lingers in the background, not unpleasantly, since cucumber in scents normally makes me think of facial masques, dirty pavements after rain, and has a watering-down effect for me. I don’t smell any cream in the beginning, only after an hour or two.
I can’t comment about the sillage since I normally apply perfumes around my neck and wrists, and the scent wafts straight up my face. But I suspect its sillage is not that great (in this sticky air) since I’ve asked a few people if they can smell me, and no one can.
In terms of longevity, it lasts pretty long on me, at least for a whole 8 hours. Around the 3rd hour mark, it normally becomes almost unbearably
