Description
Dreams is the name of the new fragrance by Mariah Carey, which comes out in Spring 2013. The perfume is announced as a sensual floral-gourmand with each note symbolizing a certain moment in the life of this famous singer, from childhood through fame to love.
The composition begins with delicious aromas of salty caramelized apple and star anise combined with freshness of bergamot and roasted almond scent. Sensual honeysuckle is mixed with delicate freesia and lily of the valley, creating the feminine core. Warm musk, patchouli, tonka bean and vanilla from Madagascar are placed in the subtle oriental base.
The fragrance is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Fruity sweet, caramel. Nice and fresh to start with Lily of the Valley on top. Then about 30 mins later its a soft almost powdery sweet comforting base. Dreams is lovely but not special enough to stand alone – will use it for layering fun. On its own, it would be perfect for bed , follwed by sweet dreams. Worth buying but don’t expect to be blown away. Its not gourmand.

I’m glad I didn’t spend much on this. LOTV is a note I absolutely can not stand. I thought it was far enough down in the voting I might not notice it. However, it’s very strong to me. To me, this is mainly a caramel and LOTV scent with a touch of apple fruitiness.

Dreams is a lovely surprise. I think this is what I wanted Jessica Simpson’s Fancy to be. The apple note really lightens up the caramel, which gives a slightly salty, mouthwatering undercurrent to the florals and that, my friends, is what absolutely makes this fragrance. Very, very charming and delicious. I’d grab this one while you can if you’ve been on the fence… it’s nowhere near as prevalent on Ebay as I’d expected.

To anyone considering buying this fragrance, I strongly suggest you read Marlen’s review in Bargain Fragrance Reviews. His description is spot on and made me want to run out and blind buy a bottle, which of course I did. And I was not disappointed. Dreams is sweet and gourmand like many celebrity fragrances, but it has a unique freshness that keeps it from ever becoming too thick or syrupy. This one is quickly moving up in my rotation, as it’s many facets make it suitable for almost any occasion or mood or season. And I’ve already bought a back up bottle, because as some reviews already noted, Dreams seems to be becoming more scarce online and the price is steadily creeping up.
If Marlen’s review moves you, I highly recommend picking up a bottle (or two) while it’s still around!

I unfortunately, must agree with the review below mine. I do not find this to be a creamy, caramel gourmand. it is pleasant but more fruity then expected. It is pleasant but turns cloying on my skin. I will also be sticking with my (old) bottle of Fancy

On my skin this is a light fruity sweet smell, with red apple dominating. Somewhat it reminds me a bit of Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, only more fruity and less distinct. Caramel, tonka, vanilla are way subdued on me. It’s ok, but not the heavy hitting gourmand I was in the mood for when I blind bought it.
I guess I will stick to JS Fancy for those moments of hypoglycaemia.

This is beautiful. I have trouble describing it. One person said it was like they mixed a gourmand with a clean scent & I think thats a very good description. Its lovely. Even better it is unique! I havent smelled anything even near similiar. Its got good longivity and sillage. I used it yesterday and can still smell it this morning. My husband went nuts over it. The bottle, I love because it has that sheen like the old carnavial glass. All around beautifully done from bottle to perfume.

This was a blind buy from Marshalls $14.99 and I love it. I try not to do that, as I have bad luck with blind buys(surprised I haven’t been banned from the store for so many returns). On me, I get vanilla,caramel,almond and a little honeysuckle. It’s a sweet,cozy,comforting scent. Good sillage and longevity. I’ve been layering it with Jessica Simpson’s “Fancy Love” body mist and it smells delicious.

I think this is Mariah’s best scent. It has just the right amount of sweet and is long lasting without needing much of it. I love it and find it hands down one of the best caramel scents I have owned and tested. The bottle is beautiful. This is a winner!

I’ve had a bottle of Dreams for quite some time, and I just can’t seem to make my mind up about it. I smell absolutely zero caramel or vanilla on my skin. I don’t smell tonka either, which is actually a good thing since I have found that tonka and I don’t get along so well. On me, Dreams is just a sweet, generic, sweetish fruit scent. I don’t hate it, but I really never wear it. I’ve held onto it for at least a few years without falling in love, so maybe it’s just time to let this one go.

This is what Jessica Simpson’s Fancy was trying to be. It’s simply done the right way. It’s clean, it’s likeable, it’s has mainstream appeal with its own twist. There’s more depth to this than Fancy. Fancy is just too much vanillary and musk. Too much for my taste. Dreams’ notes are well balanced and hamonized. You get the full note pyramid experience, from top notes to the base. Its like you mixed Prada Candy and the cleanest, softest smelling ,laundry detergent all into one.
Dreams is officially in “the most underrated fragrances” category.

I bought it based on the reviews here and though it was a blind buy I must admit this is very pretty and sweet scent. It is definitely not cheap or generic smell; mainly vanilla and juicy apple, at least on my skin. If you’re a fan of juicy sweetness, this fragrance is the one to buy, as it’s not sickly sweet, more like a sweet cookie, cosy mist.

This is an enjoyable little sweet treat, worth the $10 at Ross I paid for it. Nowhere near as unique as M, it’s lovely all the same. I sometimes catch an aquatic note in some caramel scents and this is one of those “aquatic” caramels. The only other notes that I can pick out are the freesia andthe lily. The silage is so-so and I’m crossing my fingers for decent longevity. I don’t like this as much as Fancy, it’s lighter and fresher but it’s still pretty.

This could be termed Mariah’s comeback fragrance. She came out strong with her first three and then all that lollipop mess! Dreams is a dreamy caramel. If you favor the gourmand and this note hard to think you’d be unhappy with Dreams. Twist is this Does seem “limited edition” indeed. When I got my 1.7 oz bottle it was because I couldn’t find it larger. Now I’m seeing even 1.7 not as available as 1 oz. This also costs a few bucks more because folks know what is out there seems to be all there is and it is disappearing. Good news? Still available. Get One! What I’ve done to keep from going into a panic? Maybe Fancy or even Live .. but Al Rehab perfume oils! Golden, Dalal or Golden Sand. These are awesome fantastic arab caramels for about $6 and they go great with Mariah or any other similar. Was indifferent but now my Dreams is very special and rare. Doubt I’ll get another but also can’t be afraid to wear what I have!

I just picked this one up from my local Ross, and it was definitely worth the <$15 I paid for it, however it wasn’t what I expected. I sprayed this at a friends house a couple of months back before we went to a party and I loved it. Then it was such a warm caramel cotton candy like smell, and it was divine. Since then I’ve kind of grown out of sweet perfume such as this, but I couldn’t get this one out of my head, and I kept seeing it for so cheap so I thought what the heck I can always just use it up whenever. And now that I have it, it’s alright. I think my bottle actually smells different than hers did, maybe this one hasn’t been kept as well, or maybe I just need to wait and spray it on a summer night, but either way it’ll get used. I probably just need to stop with all these sweet girly fragrances. If those are up your alley though, this one is really good when it’s found at an equally good price. Also lasts pretty good for a celebrity perfume.

The more I wear this, the more I love it. Cozy, sweet, breezy without being too heavy or candyish. It is probably the most outright delicious smelling perfume I have smelled. The right balance of caramel and vanilla (the sweets) and florals and fruits. I detect the bergamot lifting the sugar and almond in a puffy, powdery form.
At first I thought this was similar to Fancy, but I think this is quite different, actually. They share some main notes but Dreams is lighter, breezier, and more versatile as an everyday perfume when I’m in a sweet mood. At least, for me! Great longevity, too.
Update: I let my bottle of Fancy go… this is THE sweetie I go to most for my vanilla- caramel sweet tooth fix!! Love it’s delicacy and warmth. I do reach for this a lot when I want a cozy sweet comforting vanilla.

I smell the caramel and it’s so delicious! The scent lasts very long on me too! It’s close to skin, but that doesn’t matter as long as I can smell it’s wonderful warm and comfortable fragrance wafting around me all day -which I do 🙂
The bottle is so pretty and feminine with the flower cap. I have it on my nightstand right now next to Rihanna’s Crush (which is also a great fragrance and the bottle, in person, is classy and beautiful!).
This fragrance is like being in your comfy clothes and drinking your favorite hot beverage next to a cozy warm fire!

When I sprayed on the first spritz in my car, I almost exclaimed in amazement. This is one of the flora-sweetest fragrances ever !
The perfume isn’t that strong BUT it stays on more than 6 hours for sure.

I like this well enough and I think this is safe enough for work or school or to wear to gatherings, but for me, I tired of this really quickly. Still with about 3/4th of a bottle and just ‘tired’ of it.Likely will end up giving this to my friend’s teenage daughter. This for me, is also, as with many celeb fragrances, nothing extremely special or unique. Still it is decent enough and a good one/a safe one to throw on for days you don’t know what scent to wear.

Salted caramel yess, it’s so yummy and rich but it doesn’t last long unfortuantely. The vanilla smoothly blends in the scent, not too overwhelming. The bottle itself is adorable, i just love the 3D butterfly top, it sits really pretty on my vanity!

I just found this at Ross after smelling it at Kohls. Definitely interesting. It is a smell I feel like I have techincally smelled a lot before…I picture myself at a fancy hotel or cruise ship and the outside sample is this and I try it thinking “This smells expensive but not extraordinary”. For some reason it just has that quality to me. For the life of me I’m trying to get that caramelized apple everyone talks about but it is just not there……..I’m almost bewildered. It is sweet, but floral, but….I do not get rich caramel. I get star anise and a warm spicy fruit kind of smell and super musky on me. There is some freesia I pick up. But caramalized apple…..I do not smell it which I wish I did 🙁 It’s super warm, and sultry. I would wear this to a fancy cocktail party. For me it’s not an every day wear smell. Way too heavy. Not sure I would buy again if it were more than the Ross price. It’s a nice backup for my car in case I need to smell decent fast. But it will give me a headache after a while. I probably have an allergy to this because it actually makes my nose itch lol I am pleased that it’s not a cupcake caramel, but if there are others in its genre that are better I might try those next. I don’t think I would tell people if they like JS Fancy that they will definitely like this. I don’t think they’re really in the same genre. They smell nothing alike to me, nor have the same sweetness.
oh ya and the longevity and sillage is craaazy. I went to wash this off my arm and it’s still there.

I am still unsure of this fragrance. My allergies are triggered by it to the point where I really can’t understand what I’m smelling other than something stuffy. I have discovered I feel this has a masculine edge to it as well. I also notice it may be too much for me, I become almost anosmic when I wear this. Or when I go outside to smell fresh air, this smell won’t leave my nose. I had this phenomena with Mariah Carey M as well so I just don’t know :/
I would consider doing a trade with someone for nice frag they have that just isn’t them. I’ve never done a trade so I’d need someone to tell me how it works 🙂 if not I’ll try gifting it to my sister, it was ony 10 bucks

This is a yummy little light gourmand scent. On me I get Pineapples, Vanilla cream ,Almonds and more Pineapples. It reminds me of a Almond pineapple upside down cake. Its so yummy smelling. This is my fav scent from Mariah’s collection. I like to spray it on after my night shower before bed. And let myself escape to paradise,the pineapples. Really take me there. I’ve finished my 50ml of Dreams and i can’t find it anywhere, well at least in my country… And i’m so regret for doing that!!! Hrmmm.. This stuff is amazing.. It’s fresh, sweet, wearable, monster sillage, very long lasting… Very sweet but in a mature way… Caramelized apple was so dominated notes in this. A bit powdery at the very end. I can’t really detected any florals but it’s ok i still can deal with it. I can’t smell some hint of citrusy from the top notes but mostly caramelized candied apple for sure. Love the bottle as well. Mariah’s perfumes always worth to try & buy. Big projection in about…. maybe 4 to 5 hours and after that it’s going to be moderate with a great 12+ longevity….

I purchased this one together with FOREVER perfume of mariah carey from LUXASIA. the supplier and organizer of perfume in whole asia and Australia.it cost me 35$ for 50ml. It says here that it has a 100ml but i think they dnt have. Coz i ask my bf to find this one on khols and macy in maryland ut he cant find a 100ml of this one. Only perfume set and 30ml. I stil dnt use my DREAMS perfume but i can smell the candy apple in the sprayer.. So i think it has a good sillage and longevity.. I love the notes of this one. When i smell the sprayer it reminds me of eating a cady apple. Then about the bottle design. Its amazing! The 3 translucent white butterfly lid on the top and shape like a glass of wine and flute! The body of this perfume bottle is like lucious pink. It has a rainbow reflection also. I love how mariah put her signature at the bottom of the bottle. It reminds me also of a little wand of a fairy and sailor moon.. This is one of my favorite perfume. Even if i dnt use it. For me its 10 out of 10..

I’ll be honest – I have mixed feelings about this scent. It’s a general crowd pleaser, and a wonderfully crafted sweet gourmand treat. So, why the hold up you ask? Dreams has many notes that I adore in a perfume; caramel, vanilla, almond, tonka bean, honeysuckle, etc. This fragrance is EXTREMELY sweet, a little too sweet even for me. I think Dreams is of excellent quality, and possesses long lasting, high quality ingredients. The first spray I get nothing but syrupy canned pineapple and salty caramel. It’s mouth watering and very delectable! I think on my skin, or perhaps the way I perceive this scent, more than one spray is simply way too cloying and headache inducing for every day wear. I do like the scent even more as it dries down into the heart & base notes. The florals come out a little more and the “saltiness” subsides, leaving a gorgeous sweet, sensual and exotic trail. The best thing is that this scent lasts for ages, and it sticks to clothing for days on end.
To wrap it up, this scent is very beautiful, but too overwhelmingly strong if used in excess and has the potential to cause headaches.

PS: If you find that Prada Candy fades too quickly, this is a great alternative!

I blind bought this at Marshall’s for $14 in a box set, and since I got it it’s honestly been all I can do not to buy infinite more bottles. This one is just gorgeous! It’s certainly a classier and more refined celebrity perfume; it’s unique and smells more expensive compared to other celeb perfumes. It envelops you with warmth and sweetness from beginning to end, and leaves a lasting softness once it fades. The almond, caramel, and vanilla notes stand out most to me, and the gentle florals in the middle create a very voluptuous and cozy fragrance. I love to wear this in the autumn and winter with thick knit sweaters; it almost feels like it wraps me up like a scarf when I wear it. It’s unique and identifiable enough to stand out from other scents, but also remains versatile and friendly enough to create a comforting aura for you and anyone who might catch a gust of this warm, sweet smell. And the bottle and ad campaigns are so precious; there’s really no single thing I dislike about this perfume.

Another “female” fragrance I decided to try as a guy. First off I think the presentation is simply beautiful. The bottle, butterfly cap and the color of the juice is an amazing looking combo.
I liked this one alot, but it was too strong and sweet for me. Also was too feminine on my skin. But I would love this on a woman. So got rid of my bottle altho I was tempted to keep it just for the way the bottle looked on my shelf. Also this is a very affordable fragrance as well. I’ve seen it for under 10 bucks.

I’m absolutely shocked with the bunch of reviews that I’ve read that no one has noticed the similarity between the smell of this and Jessica Simpson’s first fragrance, Fancy.
This fragrance is GREAT! A definite, hands-down love for me. However…to me it smells so similar to Fancy…it could be one of Jessica’s spin off fragrances from the Fancy Line. If you took the original Fancy…kept all the carmel-ey goodness and warm notes…and added a salty note…it would spit out Mariah Carey Dreams.
I even find the projection and longevity identical to that of Fancy. It lasts like a beast on me. 6-8 hours on me depending on how heavy-handed I am when I spray it. Im a guy and I wore this to the gym the other day and I could see people breathing in deeply as they walked by me. A definite people-draw-inner. Lol.
Have seen online how this is so hard to find and how you can really only find the 1.0 ounce bottles. Doing some black Friday shopping over the weekend I found THREE 1 ounce bottles for $10 each at TJ Maxx and I literally bought all 3 of them so it feels like I have almost a 100ml bottle lol.
Anyway, this smells great! This is my second favorite Mariah Carey fragrance behind “Forever” which is just amazing and ALSO projects and lasts like a beast.
Try it guys! Warm…cozy…comforting…and performance is great. So…basically, you can’t go wrong. Only thing I’m not sure about is if this may be cloying in the summer as it is December 1st and I live in Pennsylvania. This is delightful in the winter and comforting in cold weather…but I’m not sure if the sweetness mixed with the heat of summer would be too much. I may update in 6 months when it’s hot out here. Anyway…

Bought as an inexpensive blind-buy. Has a weird smell in the first 30-60 mins – could be salty? But then as my skin warms it up, it melts into a lovely smooth caramel. Every now and then I get a slight whiff of something else that adds another dimension and lifts the game into something more expensive-smelling.

Love this perfume in winter (Australian winter), it’s the one I reach for when I feel like some ‘winter comfort’. So, I think for me, this is best as a cold weather scent.

It’s alright. It’s a very warm & cozy scent, snuggle up in your sweater kind of vibe. This perfume takes me home and I don’t want to be there!! A very “homebody” scent.
The vanilla & caramel is what sums up this perfume. It doesn’t stand out from the other vanilla-drenched products. Go Target or Walmart on Christmas Season, walk in the home decor isle with the candles that combine vanilla & other scents (vanilla, apples, spices ) .. voila!
I prefer “M” by Mariah. The burning marshmallows outside on the night beach, accompanied by the breezy, salty air. it’s better composed than ‘Dreams’, AND provides a snuggley sense of comfort without feeling that I walked into a the cover of a holiday home magazine.
If you enjoy the comfort of your home , you should try this.

I must be getting a LOT of apple because it’s translating to me as..peach. Nothing but peach and generic sweetness which must be honeysuckle. It also doesn’t last long for me.
I see everyone thinks this is a great winter fragrance but it smells like the essence of spring to me. I’m tucking this away for warmer weather. It’s not bad but it’s not sparkling and effervescent the way I like my cold weather perfumes to be.
I’m thinking this will work much nicer in the spring and summer.

Wow! I love this! Vanilla, patchouli, caramel with a dash of bergomot! That is what I smell. What suprised me was that this made me have a scent memory of Angel by Thierry Mugler too! But… it may just be a faded memory as I do not have a bottle of Angel right now. I am now going to have to go to Ulta to check THAT out!
Dreams lasted for a long time yesterday too! Lovely! This really has shot up to one of my all time favorites!

I love Mariah and I love this fragrance. It smells a LOT like Vera Wang Princess. A more floral, less chocolatey version of Princess. It would be a great blind buy for lovers of that fragrance.

Dreams is a delicious candied floral gourmand. As many reviewers mention, I also get a caramel coated candy apple as well.
It’s sweet but not cloying. The honeysuckle is apparent from start to finish, but it’s not sharp and it helps keep the candy bite from being tooth achingly sweet. In all honesty, this had caught my attention on numerous occasions, but that star anise note kept me from buying it. From the little I can smell, I actually think the star anise keeps the scent grounded. Now I regret not buying it sooner.
Sort of a cross between Viva La Juicy and Viva La Juicy Gold Couture. Though it’s not a dupe of either by any means.
Longevity is about 10 hours, and projection is really nice but it never becomes overwhelming.

Soft, powdery and a warm glow. Absolutely love Mariah’s Dream. Moderate sillage and longevity, it’s a perfect every day perfume that’s not too much in your face but still is noticable. Absolutely classy, sweet and lovely

This really is a beautiful fragrance…its fresh and alluring and warm…it feels like a warm breeze blowing across my skin with a fragrance of watery apple, vanilla bean and lilly of the valley and sweet honeysuckle wrapped in skin like musk.
Its delicate and feminine. I love this! This is not a sweet gourmand like jessica simpson’s fancy but a sweet floral, like a perfectly bloomed flower sprinkled with sugar, you dont want to eat it, you just want to smell it and wrap it all around you!

I am blown away by this perfume. I never would have picked it up had I not read all of your reviews first. To me it just looks like a tacky celeb perfume but it’s what’s inside that counts. On first spray I get a fresh, salty caramel apple. Very sweet and goumand but not in a cloying way. I can also detect honeysuckle which blends in beautifully. Dry down is pure tonka and vanilla. Perfect autumn scent. I don’t really smell patchouli but if it’s in there it’s very well blended. The longevity on this perfume is outstanding! I can smell it on myself 12+ hours after application with only 3 sprays. I also get compliments galore. I’ll spray this down inside my hoodie and get delicious, warm yummy clouds of scent all day.
So if you want a cozy fall gourmand that you can get for CHEAP, check this out! I found mine at Marshalls for $14.

I did not like this very much when I first sprayed it… However, that has completely changed now that I really got to experience the fragrance. It is a lovely smell.. Not overpowering although it certainly could be if you use too much! This is one I would constantly bring my wrist up to smell..
However, do not leave it on over night. It ends up smelling like sweaty arm pits…

Yessssss is all I can say about Dreams. This was the first Mariah Carey fragrance I bought back in 2013 when it launched at Kohl’s and I still love it so much. It’s perfect for the Fall/Winter season and smells like all the succulent sweetness of the holidays. It is indeed very strong and sweet, with a heavy aura of caramelized almond and candy apple, but it’s sweet in a very mature, luxurious, and “expensive” way, not at all childish or forgettable. The freesia and honeysuckle give Dreams an astoundingly dimensional and entrancing floral gourmand quality… I just can’t stop smelling this all day long if it’s on my wrist because no matter if it’s freshly sprayed or in the completely dried down phase, it smells consistently great. The bottle is absolutely beautiful and totally “Mariah” with the trio of butterflies on the cap… and the fact that the liquid itself appears colored with a caramel tint just makes it even more perfect. This is what I imagine Mariah smelling like when she’s on stage performing her Christmas album and dressed in a beautiful red gown haha… it’s just so nice and will definitely get you compliments all throughout your day.
