Description

The collection of perfumes by Donna Karan DKNY, after numerous editions of DNKY Be Delicious and limited fragrances of the collection DNKY Summer inspired by hot summer days in New York, is launching a new heart-shaped edition which has the aim to express the contemporary urban spirit of her beloved city. The advertising campaign of fragrance DKNY MY NY features the popular singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora, who is holding the flacon made of glass and metal of which the upper part creates a heart shape and suggests New York skyscrapers.

Donna Karan points out that Rita Ora stated that the new fragrance was “pure energy in a bottle.” Images of dynamic New York, its streets and skyscrapers stand behind her in the advertising photo. The TV and print campaign were done at Times Square and are signed by photographer Francesco Carrozzini.

The new fragrance DKNY MY NY was developed by Trudi Loren in collaboration with IFF. Top notes of the composition provide a blend of raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum, followed by Egyptian jasmine, freesia and orris in the heart. The base encompasses patchouli Heart LMR, vanilla absolute, musk and ambergris.

The fragrance arrives as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum along with perfumed shower gel, body lotion and rollerball. The advertising campaign and a micro website dedicated to the new perfume will be launched on August 19, 2014.

I like this one. It’s better and more original than the 50 different Delicious flankers anyway.
Opens with an almost medicinal raspberry, not sweet, herbal. But dries down into a lovely patchouli vanilla spice scent. Very suitable for early fall, although I don’t think it will hold up well in very cold weather. I got a 3.4 bottle for $14 so not a bad blind buy. If you like fruitchouli done right, this one is a great option! I disagree with the reviews saying it’s syrupy or teenaged. No, it’s not a very sweet or young girl smell nor is it predominantly fruity, all the notes are very well blended. The patch sticks out the most! I’m 30 and I’m happy wearing it! It doesn’t project across the room, but lasts a good 6+ hours on clothing.
    Scent 7/10
    Sillage 5/10
    Longevity 8/10

I just purchased this blind at tjmaxx but ohhhh my goodessss, I mean wow so amazing it does remind me of coco mademoiselle but instead of that GRAPEFRUIT I get the RASPBERRY for sure. definitely cousins .
longevity it’s been 2 hours and I still smell the greatness of this magic
hard for perfumes to stay so I’m so happy

I had no idea what this would smell like before I tried it because I hadn’t looked it up here on fragrantica. I expected a generic fruity floral like the rest of the DKNY line I’ve tried, but I was surprised! Sweet & Spicy, the perfect blend of patchouli it comes out in the top notes and stays for the entire composition. I really enjoy this. Projection is good and longevity is too I’d like to own this in my collection

I LOVE it! If this perfume represents the energy of New York, I need to visit; since I have never been there. I am not generally a fan of patchouli, BUT this did not disappoint. It is a relaxing, fun, energizing scent that lasts; and it makes me happy! A very-well blended perfume. Not too much of anything.

At first, this scent is citrusy and light. Then, the patchouli appears, but very light. Still, it retains the citrus quality. It’s not a ftuitchouli per se, but more of an adult scent. It’s not an overly sweet perfume It’s not a light fragrance, however. It would be well suited for Autumn, Winter and evenings.

I have been wearing Belle D’Opium lately and totally loving it. But it had some type of familiar smell to me and couldn’t place my finger on it and then I thought OMG this smells just like DKNY MY NY. I used to wear My NY a lot a couple of years ago. I loved it but moved on. Now I remember how good it smells it leaving a nice cloud of scent around me!

I think this is Lovely, I received it as a present and wear it alot it’s a nice feminine sweet (but not too sweet) warm delight

Got a sample of this in a swap and was curious to give it a go.
Starts out a little sickly sweet, but the dry down is much better. You lose a bit of the syrupy fruits and get more of the dirty patchouli and powdery white musk. The musk gives it kind of a clean, fresh vibe. The fruity clean thing does veer a bit on on the laundry detergent or Herbal Essences shampoo side, which is not really my thing.
Overall, nice enough. Not really anything special. One of those where I imagine that I probably won’t be able to remember exactly what this smells like after I’ve worn it because it’s pretty generic. Can’t imagine going out of my way to own this.

Interestingly enough I do not get much patchouli from DKNY MYNY. After looking at the notes and reading reviews I decided to give this a proper trail run. It opens up syrupy sweet with raspberries dominating the show. It is very sweet, almost sickening sweet. After the initial blast of raspberry syrup the pink pepper appears and lends an interesting spicey twist to the perfume. It dries down into a very generic slightly musky sweet scent, I would have liked the patchouli in the dry down but for some reason it is completely absent on my skin which makes the entire perfume rather shallow smelling in my opinion. If this works with your skin chemistry this can be a spicey sweet yet pleasant crowd pleasing scent. I envision this to be a “time off” informal weekend scent, a scent for watching movies, for running general errands, for meeting up with friends for a casual dinner. It has a relaxed and happy aura about it. It is a nice perfume if you are looking for a gourmet with a bit of a spicey twist.

A vibrant, fresh, slightly sophisticated berry with a gentle chypre quality. There is nothing of the unpleasant “stuffy” effect I get sometimes in raspberries like Hot Couture. It’s a bit generic, but uplifting and yummy. Nice to wear in a cool, wet Spring. It seems to have been intended as an autumnal scent, but I think it would depress me in that season. It’s chic, but trying a little too hard.
My husband goes absolutely wild for it!

Smells almost identical to Dahlia Noir down to the powdery drydown.

My sister says it smells like Coco Mademoiselle although I don’t find any similarities (I am not a fan of Mademoiselle) except that both of these scents are classy. You can definitely describe this one as a fruitchouli as you can pick both – fruit notes and patchouli (both I love). Not very common in the streets (at least not yet) and quite unique. Would recommend it but not as a blind buy.

I have to agree this reminds me of a toned down sweeter fruitier version of Angel. Nothing chocolatey here but it is the dirty patchouli. I like patchouli so that’s not an issue for me, but if you don’t you may want to give it a miss. Unlike a lot of the fruitchoulis out there, this one has a great amount of patchouli that jumps out instantly and remains for the entire dry down, which mellows into a creamy vanillary patchouli. It has fairly good silage and longevity. I’m quite impressed. Ive nothing against the many Delicious flankers out there, but this is a much needed and appreciated departure.

To me, this sort of smells like a “Diet Flowerbomb”, but with more fruit. It’s a very similar patchouli to Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle, but it lacks the overpowering strength (Which, in my opinion is a good thing, since despite liking those scents, I can never wear them without hurting my head!) There’s also a little something strange or tangy in this one, that I can’t quite pinpoint, perhaps it’s the pink pepper. It makes it unique among other fragrances in this class, and gives it a bit of a kick.

My boyfriend got me this last summer (2014) for my birthday. Initially I wasn’t too impressed as I was secretly wanting Coco Mademoiselle but surprisingly it became one of my all time favorites. At first it goes on very fruity….I thought it reminded me alot of the old raspberry body spray from BBW. But it mellows into a creamy vanilla berry scent and then fades to a creamy patchouli not a sharp dirty hippy patchouli though…. more like a soft, creamy subtle patchouli. I really loved it because my chemistry loves patchouli and so do I 🙂 I went through the bottle and now regretting it because I can’t find it anywhere now. It is definitely one of my all time favorites and had the potential to be my signature summer scent. If you love patchouli but don’t like smelling like a dirty hippie I recommend this, that is if you can find it.

I really like this scent. I first bought a rollerball at The Cosmetics Company Store and then a lotion and 1.7 ounce perfume set for $29 at Marshall’s. It’s a nice warm scent for day to night. It’s floral, fruity and musky. I do smell the patchouli, but it is not overpowering. I feel like it’s a less floral and less projection version of Flowerbomb. It lasted about 5 hours on me. If you see it on sale, I say give it a chance.

Let me start by saying that I’ve had enough of the Be Delicious range by DKNY. Sure, they smell sweet and fresh, but everyone and their mother smelled of them at one point. Thus, I tend to associate DKNY with unoriginality and passé.
When DKNY My NY came out… I had hope. I was told that this was a fragrance unlike Be Delicious, and the thought of a mélange of raspberry and pink pepper made me swoon.
And it kills me to say this… but I’m very underwhelmed.
It smells like women’s deodorant on my skin, specifically those sweet-scented sprays that took me back to middle school. Cute, but not how an adult woman wants to smell.
    It’s a no for me.

I blind bought a deal on the box set, being a sweetie/gourmand fan… This is great! I normally hate patchouli, and it’s in here and noticable, but yet it’s really sweet, spicy, warm and pleasing. It is generic, the same ole fruit-patchouli, but fans of that will love this! It’s fruity, so more along the lines of Jimmy Choo Exotic than LVEB IMO.
Non offensive, and moderate/good sillage/potency. It could be cloying/overpowering depending on your nose/environment.
It’s by no means a fave, but I will enjoy wearing this and if I ever run out of my 1.7, I’d happily buy another.
It’s nothing sexy, more like a comfort scent you wear for YOU. Happy fruitchouli! 😉
I don’t like to put age limits on scents (I love Pink Sugar and I’m 35) but this does seem a little heavy for teens/juicy fruity scent lovers.
Reminds me of a slightly LESS sweet, more fruity/fresh version of Love Notes by Ellen Tracy. If you love ultra sweet patchouli scents, you must try Love Notes.
Mmmmmm, the lotion does remind me of La Petit Robe Noir. Also has vibes of a coffee-less Rebelle.
Come to think of it, it’s very similar to the Couture version of LPRN.

I was standing in the perfume isle with my husband at the discount store. I could smell something I instantly loved but not sure where or what box it was coming from. There were also candles the next row down. Finally I found the opened box of this on the bottom shelf. It’s really a lovely and very safe friendly fragrance. I sprayed it about 5 hours ago and still faintly smell it on my arm. It’s heavy on the musk so avoid if your not a musk fan. Something about this really just made me feel happy. It’s a happy scent!

I got a sample of this one (spray vial) and decided to test it on my skin even though the time I tested it on paper I didn’t quite like it. I just felt it very sweet for my taste, but I didn’t think it was unpleasant, and so decided to try how it would behave on my skin.
I had one normal spray over my chest (my usual place) and a mini spray on my wrist which i then dab on to the other one. All of this just to say that, yeah, I notice a new scent for longer, but this one, by the 30 minute mark I was ready to take off, even with the tiny bit I wore. I was glad I sprayed carefuly, cause I don’t think I can handle an over spray of this.
It opens sweet and with the raspberry very present. After a few moments the pink pepper kicks in, and it does give it a kick. Then, not even 20 minutes later a strong patchuli scent comes in. Now, I don’t dislike patchuli, I really don’t, but this one was too much. From the moment the patchuli kicked in, it was the only thing I could smell. Maybe with a bit of the pepper on the background, but the fruitines was not there anymore.
Overall if you love patchuli, go for it. If you can’t stand it stay away, and if you like it but not sure how much, then test it first. The longevity was quite good, more than 6 hours and the next morning I could still smell it on my wrist. Sillage was okay.
It reminds me a bit of Gucci Guilty (because of the pepper and patch) but stronger and this one is not powdery. I may try it again someday, but I honestly doubt I will run out of my sample any time soon.

I avoid DKNY like the plague… Not because I don’t like their fragrances, I’ve just had too many people overspraying Be Delicious and Red Delicious in public restrooms. So you have that clean toilet smell with some DKNY – because of that, I always associate the Delicious range with toilets.
That being said, the Sales Assistant basically INSISTED that I try this. He said it was nothing like the DKNY range. A little scared & weary, I allowed the poor man to spray this on me. I gave a polite ‘thank you, may I try some other fragrances?’ and walked on. But then it hit me… Beautiful pink pepper & patchouli (I’ve noticed that these ingredients really love my skin chemistry) and I gave in. I bought a small 30ml because I’d already picked out something else which was rather expensive. But this fragrance is gorgeous. The musk comes out quite a lot later, but it subtle & mixes very well with the other notes.

This is a soft, powdery patchouli, which IMHO is very well done in this scent and pretty impressive for DKNY to have pulled off. There’s a hint of raspberry over it, and not much else. I agree with jana.hullinghorst–it’s pretty much DKNY’s attempt to create something from the Coco Mademoiselle family. Chanel did it better, and there are hundreds of other scents out there very similar to this one. That being said, it is very pretty and soft with decent sillage for the price, and the bottle is cute. I personally wouldn’t buy it, but I would still wear and enjoy it if it had been gifted to me. It’s very soft and feminine. Unobtrusive and inoffensive.

  24. :

I tested this My NY without having read any reviews (rare for me!) and my fist impression was definitely a sweet patchouli dominant fragrance – I got the pink pepper very clearly, along with the patch and raspberry. On paper My NY reminds me very much of Jimmy Choo, but on skin I do actually get some similarities to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle. My NY is definitely sweet, a bit sassy, with a good dose of sophistication. Jimmy Choo and Coco Mad both have a tendency to give me headaches from time to time, but for whatever reason My NY does not. It’s a good blend of the positives of those two fragrances. I believe this is getting discontinued – I am glad I was able to get it before it’s gone!
Edit: a friend smelled this on me and said it smelled almost exactly like Coco Mademoiselle, which she wears.

Eeeekkk! This smells like a slightly more feminine version of TM Angel. There’s the same huge dose of patchouli but less chocolate. I just tested this on one wrist with Angel on the other. My NY is much less suffocating, but otherwise, it’s very similar. I’ll admit, I initially smelled this from a magazine sample, picked up the lovely raspberries and instantly put it on my want list, but having tested from a decent sized roller ball sample, I can easily say this is NOT what I smelled in that magazine…I should have known better, but I got sucked in by Cosmopolitan.
I don’t know, maybe I’m crazy, but Angel is really all I smell.

    Pleasant, safe berry perfume.

My friend gave me this because she couldn’t stand the smell. It gave her a headache she said. First time I tested this on my skin, it wasn’t an instant love for me. I have always use the sweet fruity gourmand type of perfume, so this was something new for me. I didn’t dislike it but also didn’t love it either. But for some reason I kept reaching to this beauty and spray it on me just to test it. I suggest test it on your skin first or buy a small bottle tester of it to see if the smell grow on you or not. And I have to say, it took me a while but finally I can smell comfort in its scents. Its very sweet patchouli smell at first spray with a hint of raspberry and slightly vanilla. Then it just gets warmer and prettier. After 3 hours, the dry down smells like soft musk with hint of vanilla. I agree when someone said its not sophisticated nor sexy. To me its rather casual. The kind of perfume you’d wear after a hot shower before enjoying quiet night with a cup of tea..that’s how I describe it.

  28. :

    3 out of 5

On the way out, very similar to the 212 Sexy.
In the drydown reminds the 212 Sexy without the sweet notes.

  29. :

    4 out of 5

Not bad. Spicy whisper with a modern vibe. Soft spicy like Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle, I find them similar in style, but My NY is more toned down. And I like the puzzle bottle.

  30. :

    5 out of 5

This is easily likable, especially if you’re not the one particularly into perfumes and don’t like to spend too much time thinking what to wear. This one here is a perfect choice for that case – attractive, young, fresh and modern. It’s in the same tone as the Be Delicious line – bright and girly. Nothing unusual, nothing original, but it makes you smile. The patchouli is the typical good mood note that always fills my heart with sunshiny happiness. Adorable one!

  31. :

    4 out of 5

I adore this perfume. It is similar to Mademoiselle. It is soft, yet the patchouli still stands out. My NY is not loud; it is understated and refined. I know I will get many bottles in the future.

  32. :

Very dirty patchouli. In some perfume patchouli is quite nice, has no sirty smell. But here you can suffocate. Twin of Coco mademoiselle.

    DKNY MyNY / Donna Karan – 04/23/2015
This is a very safe, quite affordable and pleasant perfume which I recommend either for yourself or to be offered as a gift. I believe it will not disappoint.
It is a chic floral which makes it a lovely choice for the spring and summer months, suitable for every occasion. It has a pleasant, clean, fresh, inoffensive neutrality which I favour. I do not detect much of musk or vanilla or patchouli. Instead, I feel happy surrounded by freesia and raspberry notes. I do not consider it sophisticated or sexy as I rather detect a carefree, playful girly attitude which I honestly like.
It is not sweet at all which, in my view, separates it from the overly sweet trend of the moment (which is a nice thing.) It has a good lasting power and I could smell it on my scarf on the next day.
I would compliment a lady wearing it and I do recommend it.
    Enjoy the perfume quest.
    Regards
    Josephine

I purchased on-line without smelling it first as the deal was too good to pass up (100ml EDP + 50ml body lotion for $20) I decided to take the chance as I love every perfume by Donna Karen, well except for Be Delicious Night and now I’m afraid to say, this one. what I like about nearly all DKNY fragrance are the citrus, floral and fruit tones, this was polar opposite. I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t buy it again. A bit too musky and deep for me.

  35. :

    5 out of 5

I normally steer clear of musks, but this one is nice on me. After the fairly sharp initial scent, it calms down to an almost earthy warmth, with a bit of sweetness. I like it, although it won’t be in constant rotation.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This one is safe. Very safe. And affordable. My boyfriend said it smells like Mademoiselle. He is not a fragrance person so while I don’t smell the similarity, someone with a less experienced nose may. I work in a club in Vegas and often times I reach for this for work on a slower night when I don’t want to use any of my more expensive gems- but I still want to smell sexy and fun…

  37. :

    4 out of 5

It took me a while to realize how much i liked it though i gravitated toward it right away. I work in fragrances at a department store and allowed my nose to adjust to it periodically for a month before buying, but it does grow on you. I love the darker, heavier musky scents, and this one feels light for the category but kept pulling me back. MyNY is spicy and deep for fall, yet without being heavy and manages to be fruity enough for day wear, Sweet but not overbearingly so (as in many of the Juicy or Michel Germain ‘Sexual’ fragrances, or Pink Sugar as another example). Somewhat youthful too — maybe 20s to 30s. I would put it in the same age range as Prada Candy, Flowerbomb, Gucci Guilty, Jimmy Choo. Personally I love it. In the store we get very mixed reviews. It’s not a winner with every customer, unlike many of the Armani fragrances which have almost universal appeal for example, and and I fear it may be being discontinued.

  38. :

    4 out of 5

Eh, it’s a pretty safe and generic fragrance. The top notes are pretty sharp and remind me of another DKNY scent in the Be Delicious variety, but once those dry down (and they do quickly, in about 5 minutes) it really reminds me of La Vie Est Belle.

  39. :

    5 out of 5

When I read the various descriptions on the Internet, I did not think I would like it.
So when I tried it out, I was pleasantly surprised, as others here in the forum. The sweetness is a very clean, airy sweetness. It comes across as a modern, chic fragrance, which gets very vibrant, the longer you have it on your skin. I truely like it!

  40. :

I sampled the fragrance at Ulta when they were having a half price event on a few of their perfumes. I loved My NY on the paper tester strip and ended up grabbing the middle size as a Christmas present my mom could give me. The paper strip highlighted the berry, vanilla, and patchouli notes of the fragrance. My mom loved the fragrance on paper as well noting that it was a feminine version of what she likes in a men’s cologne.
So Christmas passed and I finally got around to actually wearing the fragrance. It is still a nice fragrance but on me most of the notes are lost. I initially get a very loud burst of the pink pepper, enough that my eyes were watering in the car, with plenty of patchouli in the middle – dry down. Four hours later and the scent is a very faint peppery vanilla with no discernable sillage.

I have a mini of this and it has a waft of miss dior Cherie mixed with burberry London..but its ok but I wouldn’t buy a full bottle , its best just for night out clubbing or hooka smoking bar. lol!

I wish I would have waited until Christmas to buy it. I paid $80 for the 3.4 bottle and now it’s 50% off. I went back for lotion, the roller ball, and the mini size though so pretty happy about that. This one isn’t unique but I think it’s very office appropriate and unoffensive. It has much more staying power when coupled with the body lotion. The body lotion is terrific. I really enjoy the warm peppery note.

  44. :

    5 out of 5

I don’t think I am a fan of any of DKNY fragrances 🙁 Every one I try I dislike. This just smells like something I smelled in the 80s but can’t put my finger on it. It’s a bit much for me and smells synthetic? I think that’s the right word for what i am trying to describe.
I smell the raspberry right off the bat and it’s very intense to me. I don’t do well with fruity scents on my skin for whatever reason, so this might be why i don’t like this. It seems to be every DKNY fragrance is heavy with fruits and they turn sour which my chemistry.
I don’t get many notes here except raspberry and a hint of musk and patchouli.
Top notes: raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum.
Middle notes: jasmine, freesia, and orris.
Base notes: patchouli, vanilla, musk, and ambergris.

  45. :

    5 out of 5

this one’s okay, it’s not bad:
TOP: punch of synthetic raspberry :[ not a fan. luckily i don’t smell too much of this after a minute and then i get super strong galbanum (which makes it difficult to inhale, but i still like it because it’s bracing) and some rosy pink pepper, which makes the smell more nose-friendly. this phase reminds me a lot of black amethyst by bath & body works, actually. pleasant, but done before. from far away, it sometimes smells like hairspray.
HEART: heart? what heart? maybe there’s some candied jasmine and some peppery freesia? but at this point it smells like vanilla, the flowers are very sweetened. i think i get something kind of buttery which might be orris root, not sure.
BASE: vanilla. hints of patchouli, soft musk, maybe some ambergris? i’m not really sure, but i think the ambergris/patchouli is making the vanilla more interesting. kind of smoky, maybe a bit sour. poor projection.
actually, i kind of like this vanilla. i’m pretty sure it’s the ambergris. sometimes the raspberry is making the vanilla sour, but the ambergris makes it this sweet, almost incensey/waxy vanilla, which is very interesting to smell. this scent grows on me the more days i wear it. starts off pretty generic (but still nice) and gets nicer as it goes along 🙂

I get a snootful of vanilla and honestly not much else. There’s a trace of sweetness almost brown sugar-y.
It’s okay for the price. Very long lasting. I put it on eight hours ago and still smell vanilla.

I received the rollerball sample with a Sephora purchase. This fragrance is not that great. It starts off okay but within twenty minutes, it becomes a lacklustre, boring, chemical scent. For some reason, it reminds me of the years 1990-1993. Not that impressive.

  48. :

    4 out of 5

I got this as a sample with a Sephora purchase. The moment I sprayed it, my boyfriend said, “ooh! I like that. What is that? It smells…sophisticated.” On first spritz it is very sweet, then soon becomes overpoweringly musky. It reminds me of Chance by Chanel (the original), which was my first ever fragrance at the age of 15. It’s probably the patchouli and musk hiding under a light top note. I’ve learnt I can tolerate these types of fragrances if I spray them on my clothes, but not onto my actual skin. Otherwise they become sickening. You really only need one spray of this. So far I like it, but I definitely wouldn’t wear it to work. It’s slightly vampy, but says 23-30 to me. This would smell wrong on a young girl, but it’s not quite white collar pantsuit. I see this on a brunette wearing deep red nails that match her lips and pumps, Anastasia Steele after she’s been corrupted. 8/10

This is a nice perfume to wear during the day in the fall. It’s perfect for work or a low-key environment where you want to smell noticeably nice but not overwhelming or overpowering. It’ll blend in enough that people won’t immediately realize it’s you. The sillage is also nice and will waft around you evenly for a while in a subtle way. I am using the word “nice” a lot in this review–that’s the perfect way to describe this, just: nice.
I definitely notice the patchouli and musk more than anything else. I don’t like raspberries and was surprised to see that’s a major note. I don’t notice that at all.

Fresh-fruity- spicy. I didn’t detect any sweet note.
I will try it again. Btw, it’s a good fragrance I would wear it during day time!
    Good longevity and sillage

So I read the reviews n notes, got really excited to try this one. Unfortunately it’s a new launch, n available in USA n other big countries. In india dkny perfumes r available, bt this one I’m sure will b launched atleast aftr 2 more years. As my sister is coming back from US, she decided to buy this one for me. So I’ll b reviewing this one on the basis of her explaination. It starts wid balanced slightly sweet smell, then the patchouli can be noticed mixed wid pink pepper, and in the base u can smell ambergris, vanilla, musk. The perfume has really gud sillage, longevity I’m not sure, bt from the reviews it looks it will stay 3-4 hrs. The best part is that it dries down to soft Woody spicy scent!! It’s unique n beautiful. Can b compared to coco madamosaille

Since Black Cashmere is my signature fragrance (a DKNY fragrance masterpiece), I was excited to try this sample from Sephora. Wow Wow Wow! This does not remotely resemble Black Cashmere but I think I may like it just as much. Fruity, peppery, patchouli to balance it out, vanilla that is not sickeningly sweet, and clean musk for depth.
This does remind me of Coco Madamoiselle without the synthetic back scent all Chanel perfumes seem to have to my nose. I always like them initially, but then there’s some note that seems “off” and harsh. Some think this DKNY creation smells like Angel or other gourmands, but thankfully My NY lacks the chocolate note in those fragrances. I hate smelling like a candy bar.
My NY makes you want to be near and deeply breathe in this scent. Definitely a cool weather fragrance–could be overwhelming in warm weather, and you wouldn’t want to overspray. The sillage is tremendous.
I don’t understand the connection to NYC or Rita Ora for that matter…neither come to mind with this fragrance. She looks like she would smell of straight patchouli and old cigarettes. This is not a scent for someone with a lot of road wear, if you know what I mean. But it is a true beauty, that is for sure!

This is a Big fragrance. Once sprayed, it’s all over the place.
Strongly sweet. There’s lots of patchouli, pink pepper and raspberry in it.
I think it represests big cities like NY very well.
I find it nice in some way, but I wouldn’t know how to wear it without suffocating myself and others. I could cause headaches.

The fragrance lives up to its name of My NY. The opening notes are bold and spicy, befitting the fast-paced and energetic urban lifestyle. While it has a brisk scent, it is never overpowering or too heady. I love the dry-down even more, as it becomes sweeter and warmer. It has good lasting power of about three hours or so, though not as long as I’d hoped. Overall, I find this an intriguing fragrance that can be worn day or night.

I love the way that this perfume opens. I’m very fresh and spicy with a bit of sweetness. Unfortunately the dry down is super boring on me. After about half an hour it has a sort of unoriginal sweet and fruity scent, sort of like a shampoo. I’m super disappointed because the top notes smell so good!

This does not smell like gucci gulity by no means….its more coco madems. mixed with dior cherie edp. Nice blend, warm floral , good for fall.

Heeeavy on the berry smell at first, mellows out to a spicier scent, but still rather sweet and nectary.
Not for me, but I can definitely understand why someone into fruitier scents would like it–sort of an early autumn scent, warm but not heavy.

Got a sample from Sephora. Galbanum monster. Gave me palpitations– honestly. And a followup punch of huge (to me) patchouli. Disastrous with my chemistry.

I’m quickly falling in love with this. It’s a little cheeky, and I love cheeky.
It has a fresh, spicy vibe rather than the usual syrupy take on raspberry. As it dries the pink pepper calms down and a warm, sweet patchouli becomes dominant. Yes, it’s a fruitchouli, and it’s a good one. It would make a great everyday scent for crisp, fall weather.
I didn’t expect to enjoy this at all so I’m happily surprised. After the Be Delicious/Sweet Delicious line’s metallic note, I didn’t think DKNY could do a sweet fragrance I’d like. But I suspect I’ll find myself picking up a bottle of this on the sly before too long.

I bought a few things at Ulta a few weeks ago and they gave me this as one of the free samples in my bag. I must say I LOVE many of the different DKNY perfumes, so I had high hopes for this. Sadly, what a HUGE let down. To me and on me, it smells like a terrible powdery perfume that would have been a huge hit in the 80s!!! Ya know, there isn’t many perfumes out there that actually make me want to wash it off of my skin immediately after spraying, I will let just about any perfume sit a while before making any decisions! Not this one! I really can’t even begin to put into words just how terrible this is ON ME!!! Perhaps for others it’s not like this, but I will say, you couldn’t PAY ME to wear this perfume for even one day!
