Description

Marc Jacobs presented Decadence in 2015 as his first “mature” fragrance that embodies sex appeal with sophistication. The new, lighter version of this perfume comes out in September 2016 as Divine Decadence.

“A sparkling expression of glamour and luxury, Divine Decadence gives indulgence a touch of brightness. Decadence is a lifestyle, a way of living, transcending age and style. It’s addictive, you can’t get enough. A girl is not naturally decadent, she chooses to be.”

Divine Decadence is announced as a radiant, luxurious and sensual floral scent. A new facet of glamour and luxury is evoked by the top notes of sparkling champagne, bergamot and creamy orange blossom. Rich florals, which include gardenia, hydrangea and honeysuckle, are bringing feminine opulence to the table, while liquid amber, saffron and vanilla in the base add a luminous, radiant texture.

The fragrance is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

Day time wear. Love it! Smells great. Classy in my opinion. Day time wear.

Hmmmm….Hmmmm….This smells like something I wore maybe back in the 90s, and I just can’t pin point it…Will definitely re-post to update if it comes to me. It is a pretty scent, but not one that I would purchase. Overall description to me: Pretty, feminine, sweet and feminine.
Update-Yep, it’s got a lot of similarities to Coty’s Vanilla Fields! By no means a dupe, but definitely what I think of when I smell this. Take a look at the listed notes for each of these two perfumes too–very similar.

How varied are the reviews for this….To me, Divine Decadence is a nice enough fragrance, if not original. To me this is not as cloying nor synthetic as the original, to me this one smells a little classier. I see some reviews say otherwise, so to each their own. 🙂 I can’t really pick apart any notes, to me this is sort of a basic fragrance counter smell. To me, this is more about the accords as opposed to the individual notes: the warm/spicy/citrus/floral. I am not picking up much white floral, it is more of a basic floral; not a vanilla note, but a warm softer sweetness.
Not a fragrance for casual days, more for special events and nights out on the town to fancy places. I think the original could be a little overpowering, and this one seems tamer (to my nose/on my skin). But again, different skins, different noses may translate this one differently. It’s nice, but not different enough from the mainstream fragrance world for me to purchase. But, still a nice fragrance. Moderate sillage and longevity.

How odd, the top notes in Divine Decadence remind me of a caramel and banana flavoured lollipop I used to enjoy in my teens. No banana or caramel listed among the notes, though. The lollipop fades in the mid and DD becomes less candy and more white florals, but is still sweet and a bit synthetic in my opinion. It’s ok I guess, but not my cup of tea. Most of all I can’t get past the assosiation with cheap candy and high school, which in my book is the oposite of luxury and glamour. But the lollipop memory is personal so hey, you might smell red carpets and bubbly all the way to the premiere of the latest movie you’re starring in.
PS. Norwegians might remember the lolly I have in mind. It’s not made anymore, but it had pink wrapping with a smiling banana on it. Come to think of it, the banana looked kind of high…

Alas, some more little green tree air-fresheners used in cars… this time with bananas, caramel and a headache. And I so wanted to love this perfume, the bottle is so gorgeous…

There is a note, or a combination of notes in this one that I cannot stand to a point where I just need to wash it off my wrist because of how much it bothers me. I’ve noticed it in other fragrances as well, but I still haven’t figured out what exactly that is. This sharp, saccharine, plasticky sweetness… But not in a good way. Such a shame, because I love the bottle and the notes seemed promising. I really want to blame my body chemistry for this one.

    Omg!
I just received this today. I tried it on and I am so MAD right now! This smells just like sweet pickle juice (gherkin). Man! Its nice after the pickle smell subsides, but the original will always be my favorite.
Edit::: I’m back again perfume lovers!
This is really good I am not getting the sweet pickle juice anymore, I believe it was because I was wearing another scent when I tried this beauty. This fragrance has the same DNA as her sister but just way lighter. That was my fault for trying this while wearing Juicy couture Hollywood Royal, not a good match. Lol

Got this in a rollerball and I like it! It doesn’t smell like everything else and that always gets points in my book. I’m a sucker for saffron and I am enjoying it here. I get the comments about pickles/pickle juice though for me there’s only a similarity which I don’t find off-putting. But I love pickles. 🙂

  10. :

The white flowers and vanilla in this dry down to a Guerlain-esque Aqua Allegria Lys Soleia lite. Thankfully, I don’t get any of the pickle juice thing from this that others get, though I am prone to getting that from other fragrances, such as Stash. I got a rollerball, so it is very difficult for me to tell if it would sit as close to the skin, had it been sprayed. On me it is sweet, humid, and slightly tropical.

This one is nice, but i still prefer the original. This one lacks the glamour that the original one has. Also, this one has a sweetness that can be a bit sickening (i didn’t get that in the original). Sillage is much lighter too.
Overall, it is a deep, rich fragrance with a light white floral beckgroung. It is nice, but i will stick to the original.

Marc has nailed it once again. I am so bored with perfumes in which even a child can pinpoint this or that ingredient. Is it impossible to create a glorious, yet indiscernible blend that simply says “magic”?
    Even “Daisy”is not literal.
Divine Decadence is going to be sth I will treat myself to right after New Years.

I just picked up a sample of this, as I was intrigued by the initial whiff of an elemi-like tang and sweet woods mixed with large, creamy white flowers. Not a good on me – too sweet and powdery, not enough bergamot or amber to cut through the cloying vanilla and the flowers in this mix only add more power to it. Rather disappointed but hey, that’s body chemistry. The sample paper still smells divine, this is dynamite on somebody but not me!

I wonder why a lot of dislikes. I tried this at the fragrance counter and found it to be quite unique for a women’s fragrance especially the eau de parfum version which is not too floral and in fact smells more like a unisex fragrance. Lol. I give it 4.5 stars for longevity. My shirt still smelled of it (I pocketed the paper strip where it was sprayed).

    @Jenjones28 Fascinating!

I’m convinced there is elemi in here and that is what some people smell as “pickles.”
It is different for different people much like some people enjoy cilantro whereas others just taste soap. I don’t get the pickle smell here and I don’t smell pickles in pure elemi oil… but that’s me. My husband says cilantro is basically soap and he does smell pickles in this. I don’t care, I love it.

I definitely adore Divine decadence! I love its unique bottle and find the tassel adorable. This to me is much MUCH BETTER than its sister Decadence (that has the pickle juice scent) and more wearble too. The opening is very uplifting with its aquatic and fresh white florals, I absolutely love the scent. If only this has more projection and longer lasting I would be sold on this one. -The scent stayed on me for around two hours and a half.

Update: after reading some more reviews, I have been able to identify banana/bubblegum notes in the drydown, but it’s not overpowering, and it’s age-appropriate for me, a college student, so I really don’t mind it. I’m not getting any pickle smell–perhaps that’s a body chemistry thing.

At first spray, a fruity note. I wouldn’t necessarily wear this anywhere where I’m trying to seem mature and sophisticated, but on a date with a girl who wears Taylor Swift Wonderstruck at the age of 21, perfect. This was a nice floral as the night wore on, but not terribly strong, so I definitely could have worn more than I did. I applied this between 7 and 8 last night, and it is now 2 pm the next day. If I press my wrist to my nose and inhale, I can smell that nice vanilla amber base–warm, not too sweet. This is a good fragrance for going out with friends, or for going on dates with women (however I would not wear this on a date with a man–this is not the kind of fragrance you can reliably assume a man will go for), or a casual evening occasion, perhaps at someone’s home. I wouldn’t say this fragrance is one of my favorites, but it’s certainly very nice.

I get a pickle sour note. I cannot stand this anymore than I can stand Decadence. I don’t believe that the note list is complete for one second. This has the same sour nasty tang as Decadence and i don’t see that coming from champagne, honeysuckle and gardenia or the rest. Sorry.. I will never put anything from the Decadence line on my skin. I used a test strip and my first words were ” What the **** am I smelling?” This is a no,

  21. :

Full disclosure, I’m not a Marc Jacobs fragrance fan. Daisy is probably his only line I can more than just stomach (actually they’re quite nice little crowd pleasers) but they just simply d o n o t l a s t! Which is a shame, because divine decadence just wont go away. I can see how people think it smells like pickles, but I’m pretty sure it’s actually the champagne & bergamot notes. Which at first I found interesting, but then they wore on me and turned a bit tired, sour even. Once you get past the top, it’s not as terrible. But I also wouldn’t wear it. It is very heavy and not in the good “fur coat” kind of way…more like a ski parka. It’s also probably not great for daytime use, especially not in the spring or summer. .

  22. :

    3 out of 5

I’m really glad I’m not the only one who smells pickles, because I thought at first sniff that something had gone wrong. The weirdest thing is though that even though there is a distinct pickled smell throughout, I still enjoy it to an extent.
Moving away from the pickle, it’s a sweet white floral – it’s got a fizzy quality which must be the champagne, and a hint of powdery iris. Gardenia and vanilla round it out. To me it’s just a bit too sweet and the pickleness isn’t doing it for me. I appreciate that it’s a pretty unique fragrance, but not one I’d wear personally.

  23. :

Was pleasantly surprised with the opening, fresh florals with a fruity touch, it smelt unique and feminine. Not similar to the original to me.
But it’s such a shame that the dry down really does smell a bit like pickles.

Hubby made me go on a jaunt up the freeway with him for a work related meeting as he wanted company for the long drive. I agreed, only if we could go perfume sniffing afterward (I live in a small town with a very pathetic selection).
So there I was in the department store sniffing the new release Chanels and Guerlains and all of a sudden *psssshhhtt!!!!* from behind me.
I spun around quickly and there he was, my husband with the girly emerald colored purse in his hands with a sheepish grin on his face. “Sorry, I just wanted to smell this on you for the rest of the day,” he said as I came to realize he had squirted a hefty dose on the back of my bare shoulder (I was wearing a sleevless blouse).
Vanilla followed me for the rest of the day. Vanilla, and more vanilla. I’m not really a fan of vanilla in my perfume and was annoyed that I had to wear this for the rest of the day. It was kind of cute though and sneaky of him. I felt like going back to the counter and firing back at hubby with a dose of Chanel No. 5 and starting a perfume war. But he probably would have liked that. He likes the classics… and vanilla.
Unfortunately, I can’t say that I had a good enough sniff of Divine Decadence to leave a comprehensive review as I couldn’t make my nose reach my shoulder blade. But I did get a pretty good trail of a non-heavy, softly spiced vanilla and amber, and my husband gorging on my shoulder for the rest of the day.

At first I thought it wasnt too bad but then it turns to a very sharp floral that made my stomach turn. The sharp woody, pickly smell just intensifies to point where you have to scrub it off. I never had such a strong dislike to a perfume before this one.

  27. :

I was sent a sample. I can honestly say this is the only perfume I literally jumped up and ran to wash off before it even dried. Unfortunately, I can still smell it. (Good news I guess for those it appeals to.) Before washing, it smelled like biological fluids mixed with cheap perfume. After my failed attempt to get it off it smells like pickle juice mixed with cheap perfume. Excuse me while I go shower.

Words to describe this perfume: opulent, luminous, divine. This isn’t a perfume that anyone can pull off. That said, I receive compliments every time I wear it. My husband loves it and always asks, “What are you wearing? You smell sooooo good,” and snuggles in closer to deeply inhale my skin. The beginning admittedly is, as one reviewer described, “sexy pickles”. But that phase is tolerable and only lasts only a few minutes. On my skin this becomes heavenly, if heaven smelled really rich and sexy.
I get lots of honeysuckle, saffron, vanilla, amber, orange blossom, and a hint of bright effervescence from the champagne and the lime. It’s expertly blended to have its own character which makes it highly unique and difficult to pick out each original note. Sillage is above average, longevity is nothing short of fantastic, but skin chemistry and personality will make or break this perfume for you. Not a safe one for the blind buy, to be sure, but one of my all-time favorite and most complimented fragrances.
Makes me feel really spiritual and worldly at the same time, just as the name implies. This is the decadence of offerings to a goddess in a pure-light heavenly realm of endless beauty, bliss, and abundance. A fragrance fit for a jeweled goddess of wealth, charisma, success, and beauty.

Snake leather purse looks flashy and tacky. Starting out with a bright but well balanced fruity floral, very jasmine-like (turns out to be orange blossoms, which i also love), it soften into a slightly powdery floral with vanilla undertones. After a couple hours it ends somewhere between an artificial banana and play-doh. The way it smells in the end gives me the exact same feeling as when i look at the bottle. The perfumer must have been so sly to contrast the opening and ending. The olfactory experience is exactly like when you see a gorgeous leather bag online and buys it (the opening), then you receive it in the end, it’s just made of rubber (the end).

Weird. Really strange scent. Dill pickles and I can’t explain the rest, it’s somewhat like a men’s cologne. I love dill pickles but I just don’t want to smell like them. Marc Jacobs Devine decadence review by cyco eva, ✓May 2017

A lighter and slightly more oriental version of the original. I like it quite a bit more than I thought I would. The saffron (which I usually don’t notice) comes through really nicely to give this a much more elegant vibe than other light fragrances.

  33. :

    To my nose,
The opening: sparkling champagne – uplifting and I like it
The dry down: bubble gum – yuck!
    Longevity & sillage: moderate
    A daytime fragrance
Comparing to Decadence, they are similiar but DD is lighter, less woody and more floral. D lasts much longer and has a much better dry down.
My friends and I prefer the original one overall.

  34. :

    5 out of 5

As another reviewer said, this is a lighter version of the original. Personally, I liked the initial note of the original which seem rather green and fresh but after it switched to powdery mid notes, that kind of killed it for me. Opening was wonderful though. This version is lighter and fresher and sweeter. I thought perhaps white florals were presents and I was right about gardenia(my nose is really finely tuned to those). So far I wore it for a day and liking it quite a bit. Lasting power is pretty good-several hours out of the small spray

  35. :

This version of the lovely Decadence by Marc Jacobs smells the same as the original overall, but just has a different character. It’s not too far removed from how the original smells but it has less depth, much less woodiness and isn’t as gourmand or rich. It’s more luminous and has a much more manageable feel to it.
The original is strong and noticeable and this feels like Decadence “daytime”. Slightly more effervescent and noticeably more floral and something in here feels slightly buttery? It’s really lovely, still WAY prefer the original though.

  36. :

    3 out of 5

    It smells strangely familiar.
If this perfume were a movie, it would be a 90’s horror flick and if Decadence were a fabric, it would be velour. Not only strangely familiar, it is also strangely attractive as well. Not something I would choose for a signature scent or even to wear on regular rotation, but I could appreciate this scent on some specific occassions such as goth themed Halloween party. Yes, I am absolutely serious and I am giving this scent a “like” just for evoking such a different feeling.

  37. :

    4 out of 5

A pleasant surprize. A soft and a bit sweet Saffron mixed with champagne and amber and an airy Gardenia floating around. Not supersweet – so maybe this will be a scent for the grown up woman more than the teenager. So if you are in to Saffron/amber-mixes – try this one.

The moment I smelled this I was smitten ! There was something in this perfume that reminded me of my childhood spent in Europe. The bottle, sexy and visually stunning, somehow doesn’t match the scent. The tester I tried at Hudson Bay lingered for hours. I tried to pinpoint it in my memory, hanging on to a scent that later turned softer, delicately gourmand and vanilic. And then it hit me : elder flowers ! In Europe we used to make a bubbly drink from these flowers, it was mixed with lemon ( which Divine Decadence doesn’t have ) , but the floral aroma and the acidulated sweet bubbles dominated that scent.
I was in love. Elder flowers, a hint of saffron, vanilla, such an unusual , fresh , flowery and comforting scent. I had to have it.
I have to mention that, while I have hortensias in my garden, I don’t know what they smell like, because mine don’t have a scent….
The bottle is stunning, but there isn’t anything truly decadent or sexy in this scent. It is simply beautiful . The silage and lasting power are good . I tired the original Decadence , just because of the bottle, but I didn’t like it… it just wasn’t refined enough , it had an opulence a bit vulgar . This, on the other has, has finesse. It has class, and uniqueness.
I am puzzled by all the dislkes and negative reviews.
A real beauty with a very uncommon note as the primadonna !

I bought this on accident, I thought I was ordering the original. It is simililar to Decadence, but lighter. The drydown to me smells like champagne, it is as if you can smell the bubbles! Very crisp. It smells nice, but too light and sweet for my taste. I would love to make a trade with anyone that wants this. I have an un-opened 3.4 oz EDP

  41. :

As the moment of writing this is a new favorite. It’s a sweet powdery floral that I just can’t stop sniffing.
I like it better than the original where the wood notes cut into the powdery sweetness that I so desired. That doesn’t happen at all in this one, you get that light but present sweetness all the way down.
It’s also not a surprise that I like this scent considering that my nose can pick out and draw me towards a white floral before I even realize it’s present in a perfume, this is one of those instances.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

Like it has been previously said, the opening reminded me a bit of the original. The dry down is awful though, nauseating and couldn’t wait to wash it off. The original is not bad, not my favorite but I enjoy it from time to time.

  43. :

    5 out of 5

I tried this in a shop the other day. To me it smells like the ligher version of decadence so if you liked the original but it was too sweet or heavy for you, this one is a safe option.

  44. :

    4 out of 5

Mmmmm…upon first sniff when I tried this it smelled like an exotic blend of warm florals threaded with what my nose interpreted as pineapple (I see that it’s champagne) on a bed of cozy vanilla. I like this. A strong like, not sure it’s a love but I enjoyed this. It smells it smells classy to me but not in a stuffy way. More playful. I may revisit this one again. Thumbs up. (:
After wearing this a few more hours I changed this from a like to a love. The vanilla in this is so beautiful, very unique fragrance. On my want list!

  45. :

    4 out of 5

The first minutes of this reminds me of the original, however the drydown is cloying bubble gum-like. I’ve got the feeling that the notes here are not selected well. On me hortensia prevails along with vanilla… just weird and boring. A single spritz is a sillage monster.

  46. :

    3 out of 5

Interesting yet not appealing. A perfume with character and personality and yet missing something,
I smell mostly saffron, honeysuckle and hydrangea. A green/floral/slightly spicy mash.
I’m a guy so don’t take my opinion as something definitive, to me this is not an attractive scent, but I guess because I like more bright and light fragrances.
So, I guess this is a matter of testing and see what you think.

I went to Ulta today to sniff some pretty scents. This was the one that really got me, to my surprise. Everything since the original Marc Jacobs has been very sweet and teenager-y (in my opinion, which is shared by my actual teeenaged daughter) but this scent is for a grown ass woman with a job. And that’s me.
I took a big spritz on the wrist before I left the store and now it has dried down to a lovely, grown up, but not old lady, warm vanilla. Spicy in a good way, not a sneezy way.
It’s on my wish list for Christmas now. Maybe I should tell my teenager. 🙂

  48. :

I’ve been using a sample of this one, it seemed interesting enough to try. Upon initial application it’s a mish-mash of conflicting notes that don’t seem to make much sense together but it quickly settles down to something that smells exactly like waxy white flowers mixed with butter rum life savers. No joke… I haven’t decided if I like it or not. It’s not bad, just confusing. I assume the butter rum comes from the amber and vanilla doing weird things with my body chemistry.

  49. :

    4 out of 5

Unfortunately, the interesting spicy plum and vetiver of the original Decadence is taken away quite a bit in this flanker.
There is no plum or vetiver listed, the key notes in the original perfume. But while I can faintly smell the vetiver and orris, it’s just not the dominant quality of Divine Decadence.
It’s much sweeter and balmier than Decadence. And after the first “champagne” spritzyness, DD evolves more and more into this sweet, sweet honey scent. Not screechy, it imitates natural honey quite well. Too sad that the vanilla just sits on top of it, suffocating underlying notes.
In the last hours, it’s powdery sweet honey champagne.
Sits close to the skin, good longevity.

Its good, floral, sticks….but the tale i get bananas, realy bananas.
I like it, its special, not what you use to.
    Its sweet to.
It is expensive but i got it second hand,so half price.
Do i recomend it? Don’t know, it has to grow on you, the top is waaaauw, but than it go’s down a bit, still good tho, only the banana is a deal breaker if you pay full price, but i did not….

In like a lion and out like a lamb. I have yet to test something from Marc Jacobs that I “like” but this is the closest yet. The opening is a cacophony; heavy, thick, and jarring. The champagne is a touch too sweet and then in roars some vanilla to make it worse. It stays in this cloud of bleh for about 30 minutes. And then it settles and cools. The champagne becomes effervescent, the saffron wakes up and softens everything. The white flowers are very nicely blended in. It all comes together so nicely. Hydrangeas are not usually known as scent flowers but they can have a unique spiciness; I think here they’re mostly imparting an overall cool, fresh sense. This drydown is pleasant, projects a little and lasts about 4 hours for me. If this perfume existed without the opening mess, MJ would have finally created something I like; as it is, not so much.

  53. :

    5 out of 5

The original Decadence smells like those green, woody car freshener trees. Divine Decadence smells like the pink floral ones, with a weird caramel, fruity accord. Both are vile in their saccharine banality.
Plus, bananas. This smells like bananas.

  54. :

    3 out of 5

Still full of juicy sweet plums with lighter accords. With the champagne notes and more florals, this reminds me of plum wine while the original I find it to be more jam like. I still find this perfume heavy just as much as the original. This is still a sweet gourmand that will please the general crowd or plum lovers.

  55. :

    5 out of 5

It smells nothing like the EDP decadence. I really don’t like it. It has some type of weird fig like food smell. The design is not as beautiful as Decadence. Unimpressive.Trust me! But as it goes everyone will have a different reaction.

  56. :

    5 out of 5

Yet another Marc Jacobs fragrance that doesn’t suit me. I think this is the only designer I haven’t liked any of them enough to want a bottle. And look at my wardrobe……..I apparently love a LOT of houses! lol

  57. :

    5 out of 5

The champagne note in this smells a lot like the one that Victoria’s Secret used in their old Strawberry & Champagne body mist. The middle, for me, is such a saffron overload, literally smells like the glass bottle of saffron I purchased from Costco (lol). There’s also amber, and a background similarity to the original with a vague almost powdery (but not quite)vanilla sweetness.
I can’t really describe what this smells like beyond that. I don’t particularly find this “young” or “mature”. When I think of the type of woman in my head who I would associate this scent with, it would be someone in their 30’s wearing a soft, oversized sweater.
I don’t particularly like it, to be honest. The notes do blend together, but yet, something still smells unbalanced to my nose. A bit off-putting… can’t pinpoint what exactly.

I just bought this. I don’t have the wallet for perfume this expensive, but I bought it anyway. I was always one for falling head over heels after a three day affair. What a beautiful perfume. I fell for the original last year, but wanted to wait. Now I know why! I thought it was the plum in Decadence that hooked me, but I’m realizing it was the saffron. Divine Decadence is a sweet, white floral that plays out in an interesting way. You get that blast of saffron that reminds you of the original, followed quickly by sweet, sweet champagne and honeysuckle. Suddenly I could smell the gardenia, then the vanilla and the amber. This is a lot less heady than the original, and because it’s lacking the orris root, isn’t a powdery affair. The drydown is quick – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because it prevents this from becoming a headache inducing sugar bomb. Where Decadence gets woody, DD dries down into a sweet white amber.
I’m 33 and I don’t feel like I’m wearing something too young, but I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I feel sparkly and happy when I wear this. It reminds me of spring and of Easter.

This flanker is noticeably close to the original Decadence, but yet so far away. It doesn’t have the evening sophistication of the original. It’s much sweeter and the floral stands out more. Definitely a day time fragrance.
Gardenia popped out instantly for me along with saffron, but mostly just a very sweet gardenia. As it starts to dry down (and the dry down is pretty fast in my experience) I get a candied vanilla scent with a hint of amber. Much more gourmand-ish than the original, leaving me to wonder if I’m supposed to be sniffing my skin or licking it.
Age-wise, I think of very late teens and early twenties.
It would be a fun girl’s night out fragrance, or something to wear on a daytime date. I think it could be something good to wear to an outdoor event in the spring. Hot weather could make this scent a little too cloying, and if worn indoors I think it would need to be applied very sparingly.
This really isn’t a business-office work scent. It’s not really a fragrance that asks people to take you seriously. I think it could work on someone whose line of work is fun or social in nature.
The scent itself isn’t as strong as the original and, like I mentioned before, it seems to have a fast dry down.
Astrologically speaking, I’d go with Libra and Gemini. A younger, less mature Libra and Gemini. It’s social like Libra and ‘chatty’ like Gemini. The sweetness has an airy quality that seems to fit both signs; and, like quick minded Gemini, this fragrance has a lot it wants to ‘say’ in it’s notes and does it quickly with the fast dry down. So for someone with a lot of Libra and/or Gemini in their chart, this might be a good pick.
For me personally though, I think I’ll pass. It’s far too sweet and thick on my skin that almost, but not quite, gives me a headache. I don’t dislike the scent flat out where I want to go wash it off, but it’s simply not in my taste preference.
Lastly, like the original, I think the bottle is horribly gaudy, but for someone who likes purses or who likes to collect and display their fragrance bottles, it could be highly appealing.

Kept going back and forth with this one. Soft, flowery, sweet smell like marshmallows.

This is a short review as I sprayed it real fast at the store, top notes are a bit similar to the original, but it gets sweeter, and lighter…so in a way, I like it better, the original went through an off phase, didn care for it…Divine is just nicer to my nose, on my skin , it stays fresh, and sweet, not candy sweet, fresh sweet…and I didn’t get the saffron, but I need to try it for longer..
So far, I quite like it!! But the purse bottle isn’t my favorite

This is indeed addictive. I went to the Bay to get the new Chanel 5 l’eau but they won’t sell it till tomorrow. I had no intentions in buying anything else and certainly not a green purse bottle that in my opinion is very tacky ! It actually sort of stopped me from buying the first version ,which i liked but something I wasn’t sure about ,,,could have been the bottle lol
Decadence is suppose to be one of MJ first grown up scents and it does smell richer and classier than the girly Daisy or some others of his.
The iris and saffron along with the amber ,,,,makes this scent more grown up than I expected. Rich and sophisticated. Sexy! ( both versions )
Devine decadence however was an instant like for me , the sales lady sprayed it along with some others as she always wants me to try some of the new releases to see what I think. I was very drawn to divine and I decided within a few minutes that I had to have it. It’s indeed a very grown up smell for Marc Jacobs. Is is quite sweet as they fail to mention here on the side line. I love that about it. It’s fresh and sweet and luminous. It’s has the dense feel of iris ( saffron is in the iris family , crocus ) it has a slightly leathery vibe which is sweetened by the vanilla honeysuckle and gardenia , and freshened by the champagne and hortensia.
This reminds me of Byredos black saffron , like a sweet leather scent. However Divine is more wearable and more gourmand ,sweeter and at the moment more pleasant to me than black saffron ,which can be of putting to some as it has a tobacco vibe and a masculine note in it.
Update , like another review already said it’s a warm iris perfume with vanilla and some freshness due to the champagne and flowers. It’s really addictive and now part
