This is certainly… something. Imagine a tin of Nivea Cream with some rusty copper coins thrown into it, and you’re not too far off from Dirty Flower Factory.
It has that creamy, slightly soapy floral combination of musk, rose and orange blossom, and the floral notes have a nice quality to them, they don’t turn sour on the skin.
But there’s also something very sharp, metallic, throat-burning. I wouldn’t link this pungency to chilis or pink pepper, as it has no underlying warmth or fruitiness to it. Maaaybe it’s more like black pepper, but only in the drydown, when the metallic smell calms a bit.
This is a very cold fragrance to my nose. I could not imagine ever wearing this. Maybe it could work if you want something that is feminine, floral and clean, but also unwelcoming and even aggressive smelling.
Longevity and projection are very strong.

I get a sour rose and jasmine blend with hint of pepper. This has promise! It is unabashedly floral, but not in a traditional girlish way. I love that!

This isn’t so much a “dirty” flower factory, more like a powdery florist has exploded when you first spray it. Wow I mean, this has some power and longevity wow.
It’s one of those fragrances that smells like it has many more notes than it actually has. It’s a bouquet of an almost vintage smelling combination. This isn’t super modern like some of the other Kerosene offerings. It has overall soft rosy feeling that’s verging on mumsy (in a good way) but even though it’s soft in in tone it’s VERY strong! It leaps off of your skin in a big way.
There is a touch of something vegetal and spicy from the chilli and the pepper but the florals are of course the star of the show. It could almost have violets, heliotrope and iris in it due to it’s soft nature. It really is something to behold…
Definitely on the feminine side of fragrance and almost comforting, if you’ve ever been smacked in the face with a pillow you will know what I mean by soft but powerful. haha.
It’s also fairly linear so there aren’t too many surprises…you’ll just have to try it!
    🙂

I sampled this about a year and a half ago (before my nose was trained as well). This was basically an orange blossom soliflore, and I don’t mean it in a good way.
Orange blossom and I don’t get along well, and I couldn’t perceive anything else, other than perhaps a bit of musk or synthetic fixative (i.e. ambergris).
Without even consulting the note pyramid, I recognized the orange blossom, and it smelled pretty much identical to YSL Opium Vapeurs, with which Dirty Flower Factory also shares a pink pepper note, and which unfortunately the orange blossom also dominates.
If I were to go back and re-test DFF, I’m sure I’d be able to perceive many of the other notes, but I haven’t tried it again because I don’t wish to have the scent of orange blossom stuck to my person for half a day or longer.
Orange blossom lovers, this one is probably for you. Others, like myself, proceed with caution. Orange blossom makes me feel nauseous and sadly, this one is not an exception. I’m not prone to headaches but I expect this one could easily trigger allergies or a migraine.

    I LOVE IT!
This is a wicked smell. Yes it starts crazy, over the top, screaming…. The picture I see is actually a factory…packed with crushed floral petals and sprinkled with kerosene?? Terpenoids? It’s apocalyptic, majestic & completly out of this world. I guess few people will go crazy in love on this one, it’s an odd combo.
This evolves slowly into a nice floral Bouquet with an edge to it. Completly redefines the rose category…Lots of Orange Blossom & Chilli pepper! Ambergris is quite prominent as well. Important to say I’m not a pretty floral girl… So this is perfect for me, but would probably turn off floral lovers… Pretty Machine is another offering from this house that is floral, but prettier. Safer blind buy if you look for some ‘dirty’ floral.
Original. Everlasting, bombastic projection & fun.
I find Kerosene amazing, but most fragrances although unisex, lean masculine. This leans femminile.
    Bravo!

Dirty Flower Factory starts out soapy, spicy, and slightly cloying. I think it’s the chili pepper in combination with fluffy orange blossom. For a while, it smells powdery, like potpourri. Soon, creamy jasmine appears and saves the day! Then finally, I get that lovely rose. I smell like Turkish Delight with a hint of musk, and I adore this. A stellar rose from Kerosene!

A more feminine floral with a bite. This one is rather strong on me, and can lean a bit cloying.
I like Dirty Flower Factory, but it’s not a frequent choice.
Upon initial application, I get a big rose kick, some jasmine and what I’m guessing is the chili pepper.
I’m interested to see what else this house has to offer.

spicy, unisex and somehow rusty floral. that’s what comes to my mind. very interesting and different take on floral. perfect scent for hot summer days.

This is chili peppery rose, my eyes are kind of teary and im about to sneeze 😀
That’s a huge different take to be honest. placing some of the most hot effective ingredients together in one take! the roses, the chilies, and peppers! i personally see this quite creative but not something that i’d wear cause roses shreds my nose & that’s of course besides the peppers AND the chili. Another unique weird from Kerosene.

Testing a sample of Dirty Flower Factory and I enjoy the mix of floral jammy-ness with a backdrop of earthy spice. Hours later I get less of the earthiness with the florals still projecting strongly. Very awesome scent! Big rose scents are a favorite of mine and this one is so unique in how it wears on me. Odd, but to my nose Zoologist’s Hummingbird is a arier sweeter cousin to Dirty Flower Factory. Love that one too!

I FINALLY got the decant I ordered, couldn’t wait to review it. So here are my first impressions. Yes, it really does smell like a “dirty flower factory”, ha. Two co-workers said it doesn’t smell bad, just strong. (I don’t have a problem with strong fragrances, it’s the WEAK ones that annoy me.) MY nose can’t discern the different notes (a *plus* in my book), but that doesn’t mean I’m in love. It’s different, and I can’t say it smells like anything else I can think of. I am fascinated with the idea of blending rose with chili pepper, but not yet sure how well it blends with orange blossom. After wearing awhile longer, I plan to give a better review. 🙂 I think it’s worth mentioning, for whatever it’s worth, that when I sprayed on Kleenex, it sprayed yellow. 🙁
UPDATE: One of my co-workers said it smells more like a woman’s perfume, and I have to agree. It’s unique enough, I guess, but not for me. Final analysis: my skin doesn’t like it, and it’s not worth the Kerosene price for a full bottle ($140.00), but of the few women in my office who gave an opinion, none of them disliked it. And I think it would smell better on one of them. I ended up giving it to a woman.

Blind buy based on your excellent reviews; 4th day of testing – What do you use to clean up when your dirty? Soap!
I’ve gone from kinda like to love!! There is something luminous here.. Similar to M.F.K. Lumiere Noir. Could it be the ambergris?? Impressed.

Another magical Kerosene creation. Does what it says on the tin: dirty flowers, but “dirty” as in, well, actual dirt. Soil, not skank. Typical tough-as-nails-but-still-gorgeous image that I’ve come to love from this house. Bless John Pegg for not ruining this kind of thing with patchouli.
I agree with the reviewer who says this is like a modernized version of Joy. I’ll specify that it’s Joy without the poo drydown. Turns out if you swap Joy’s feces for a chili pepper, then hey, something amazing happens.
I want a great big bottle.

Kerosene Dirty Flower Factory….this one has kind of blown my mind in the best way possible. Epiphany! All the talk about “Flower notes are sexy,” that I’ve been scoffing at for so long? Yeah, there might be something behind that silly rumor after all. These flowers are dirty, and I am loving them!

Most visceral reaction I’ve had to a floral fragrance since Carnal Flower. The pepper adds a nice, interesting bite (but doesn’t push it into wtf territory). Spray it, and then let the nuclear-flower fall-out fade away to big, blooming flowers on a warm day. I’m shocked that the nose on this hasn’t been practicing much longer than he has been. He has a gift of working the materials and creating something new and interesting, yet gorgeously beautiful. This will likely be my next full bottle. I can’t wait to try Kerosene’s other work.

Dirty flower factory = Morpheus offering me the red or The blue pill. i take the red one ready to stay in Wonderland & see how far down the rabit hole goes lol. Absolutely astounded by the spices n floral I get. Two spray floods the room. I would be Remiss to say this wasnt anything less but breath taking. If your in The market for a masculine floral this is it 🙂 or you can pass on it wake up in your bed and belive this fragrance never existed lol, take the chace you won’t regret 🙂

Dirty Flower Factory is like a modern version of vintage Jean Patou Joy. That is what it reminds me of, anyway. It opens up with a huge floral blast that is “dirtied” up by spices and what almost smells like factory or motor oil. Intriguing. It doesn’t have the layered complexity that Joy has, but it is very pleasing if you like your florals to go big or go home. And when I say big, I mean HUGE. A dab will do you.
Although I find it pleasant enough, I own a gob of vintage Joy, so don’t really feel the need to stock up on another big jasmine and rose beast of a fragrance. But kudos to Kerosene for producing a floral that stands out among the rest.

Why on earth are there no reviews for this yet?!?!?!!? GET YOUR ASS TO A STORE AND SMELL THIS STUFF! It’s a FANTASTIC mix of dirty flower – just as advertised. Bought a flacon for my g/f for Christmas and it took ALL my willpower to not keep it for myself! It smells fantastic on her – and I steal some now and then for myself 🙂 . Fantastic scent – just like all of Kerosene’s stuff IMHO.
