Dior Addict Eau de Parfum is again reformulated in 2014 (the original is from 2002, and the new version is from 2012). The scent comes in a dark blue bottle of the signature design, this time decorated with silver details.

The fragrance opens with mandarin leaf and orange blossom. The heart includes Sambac jasmine absolute, laid on the base of Bourbon vanilla.

It is available as 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. The nose behind this fragrance is Francois Demachy.

I think I already did a review for another blue bottle..Well this one came to me from a friend who ordered it and realized she wanted the eau de toilette, so used it as a car freshener..until she stopped as her dislike for this scent didn`t cease to be..So we swapped.
I do not know the original version, this one is basically vanilla to me. Vanilla, a bit of citrusy sweetness in the background, not complicated, the drydown isn`t much different on me than freshly sprayed on, there is something crushed green for a moment, like mint or some herb and finally jasmine comes out, but the vanilla remains dominant. Pleasant! There is a slight cheap skank lingering on as it dries down, but not in a bad way – it makes the scent a bit slutty, a bit like a `bad girl` scent in my book but I will gladly wear it in colder weather too.
    😀
I just about like it, but would never pay up for this one. It was a good swap for me as now I have a nice winter scent, but there are much better and more interesting perfumes out there than this, i find it a bit overrated..
EDIT: VERY long-lasting! I was surprised to sniff it clearly off my arm in the evening – I don`t think many perfumes performed this well on me..

Second review here… I really do love this but it is more than just a little powdery on me. My significant other often tells me I smell like baby powder when I wear this (it’s not a complaint though). I agree that it is powdery and all… But I do not think it smells like baby powder. Guess some people might think so? I must be one of those people that perfumes go very powdery on. Hmmm. :-

Smelling like a baby is not what I’m going for but I’ll keep wearing this anyway

I have the original version of Dior Addict from 2002, and I bear bad news to whoever never smelled it : it’s the best perfume ever created, and now it’s gone forever.
I can’t even try to describe it. The 2002 version is my favorite perfume ever and it’s an olfactive travel to our innermost senses, our most precious and oriental dreams, our deep subconscious. For being so perfect, I never had the guts to smell the other more recent formulations, until yesterday, where I could smell the 2014 reformulation while shopping for a gift to a friend.
THE 2014 VERSION. WOW. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.
It’s like Dior is laughing at us. The 2014 reformulation is basically a facade, AN ATTEMPT to be of what the real 2002 Dior Addict used to be. It’s a very badly constructed perfume, it WANTS to be Dior Addict, but it mostly smells like a fake 2002 Dior Addict. It is not even close as complex and mysterious as the REAL 2002 version used to be. It’s just a very boring and overpowering vanilla with some spice, and it smells as if it was overly diluted. It has no silage and no fixation – and the silage and fixation were amazing in the 2002 version. Honestly, what DIOR did here was quite offensive against Thierry Wasser – he was the GENIUS who created the original Dior Addict, and I can only imagine how horrible it was for him to see his masterpiece destroyed in such a mediocre way.
Dior has become a joke. Discontinuing iconic fragrances such as Dune, Poison, Tendre Poison, Midnight Poison, while reformulating other iconic ones such as Dior Addict and Miss Dior and making them smell like some generic mess. I have officially given up Dior as a whole.

First Fragrantica review, so be kind, people!
When Addict first came out I was in a youthful, give-me-the-most-ball-busting-Tuberose phase, and didn’t appreciate her creamy subtleties. Now in my early thirties, I have rediscovered her, and she has become my signature.
I’m promiscuous with perfume, so I’ll add ‘for now’.
I have tried the earlier gold-topped formulation, and yes I loved the bigger vanilla intensity, but that doesn’t stop me enjoying the current incarnation. I wish I could turn the volume up and make it stronger, but I plan to experiment with layering other vanilla scents, perhaps an oil underneath. Will comment on any successes.
So: Addict comes on momentarily fresh green-floral in her first breath- I get Petitgrain, but it’s probably the Mandarin Leaf, mixed with a light heavenly Neroli, which warms and blossoms in moments (on me) to a creamy Vanilla-Jasmine sultriness. No skanky, no cloying, just a refined aura of expensive sexiness, like wearing beautiful silk lingerie. There’s an almost-Guerlainish harmony here, to my nose, reminiscent of L’Instant. But Addict is sexier!
Longevity is medium on me, but then I like Arabic perfumes, so am forever frustrated by those that hit less hard and don’t set up permanent residence on my skin. However, three nights after our tryst, he calls me and says ‘my pillows still smell of your perfume, the whole room smells of you’…
Recommended if you want to seduce, or just wrap yourself in the sweetness of luxurious Vanilla-Jasmine.

People are probably sick of seeing my posts on thos one now but lastly i just have to add, that theres definitely Tonka bean and some spices in here.
Like many have said, theres a smoky nuttiness that i find a common trait with Tonka bean fragrances so i KNOW its in there somewhere.
My 2014 version is a dark red colour inside..Maybethis is one of those good scents that matures and gets richer over time. Is anyone else’s one of this version that colour?
Update: Managed to win a 50ml bottle of the original 02 version on ebay. They’re pretty much the same( i haven’t smelled 2012) only the original is bolder more long lasting and has a little more spice.
If u haven’t tried the original, then this is fine, but i couldn’t resist trying the true Dior addict and its a silage powerhouse that puts most new edp’s to shame lol. Other than that, i think the notes actually are the same in this, just toned down a bit.

I really wish this was deeper, richer, and just more! lol, its almost as if its missing something to give it that darker edge, so i took a gamble and layered it with Hypnotic poison ( Just a TINY spray of HP or its suffocating)
I did this in the morning so i would know for future reference if it works, ide hate to be on my way out one night and spray myself and its horrible but i have no time to wash it off lol.
It went the other way; it was absolutely freaking unbelievably amazing!
It almost felt wrong wearing it in the middle of the day doing nothing, much better for a night out, or just before hitting the sheets;)
So, there it is, a little tip for anyone who feels that this new version of Addict just needs to be taken up a notch, try adding a little hypnotic poison.

So you’re trying to tell me this is vanilla, petitgrain, jasmine, and orange blossom?! Hah! There are definitely some notes missing.

I’m going to start this review by saying:
Im really sick to death of online fragrance sites advertising that they are selling original pre reformulated versions of something; only for me to buy it and get the new reformulated version.
The sight i got this from is reputable and its definitely a legit Dior product, but its advertised as the 2012 one with the night blooming cerus and various other notes, so i thought ” Score!” and grabbed it but alas, my luck was just not that good and its the new 2014 version.
This is really beautiful though, so it wasnt a failed buy, i just was really hoping for the previous version that sounded more complexand longer lasting.
This has a Kenzo amour- ish sort of vibe at first, but where KA dries quite soft and powdery, Addict is heavier and sort of smoky with a syrupy texture.
Its a very natural sort of vanilla, with a cocoa sweetness that makes it almost edible smelling, but the sambac jasmine stops it from going into gourmand territory with its spicy incensy type floral notes.
All in all, i think if like me, you are yet to try the original ( and its not looking like im going to get the chance) then this is a really nice, high quality vanilla fragrance. Ive been in a vanilla faze lately; its not a note i usually seek out and its not that i font like it, ive just always found it a bit boring and if not done well, can come on very artificial.
Dior are master craftsmen with fragrance, but they shoot themselves in the foot by constantly bringing out masterpieces and ruining them with reformulating.
If im to be completely honest, i avoided this for the longest time because i saw the notes and thought it was roo basic for my tastes, but a few ingredients have been brought together exceptionally well to create something that is so simple yet so amazing.

I like it, but not love. I regret I didnt buy earlier version cause I rember it was more mature, deep and nose swirling.
This is very long lasting vanilla all about. Its nice, great quality. I dont like the bitter green note wich fades away with time.
Well then it was golden, now its silver only.
I would better have Shiseido Zen instead.

I have never tried the 2002 and 2012 but based on this 2014 testing, I’m not impressed at all. I fairly like it just as a mediocre one, compared to other perfumes by Dior. It does not smell cheap and the sillage/lasting power is good, but I’m not impressed enough to buy a bottle. It started out kinda harsh, sharp, and “green-y spicy”. I only enjoyed the dry down part when orange blossom came forward toward the end. Vanilla here was not helping either as it was not quite attractive as I would imagine. Jasmine was also “green”.
I thought by looking at the notes (vanilla and orange blossom), this Dior Addict wound be comforting, warm, creamy and smooth. I did not detect any “cinnamon” or other “spices” like other people did. I mostly smelled harsh green leaf and sharp jasmine 🙁 I’m glad that I had a chance to test it carefully at one Macy’s store, by lucky coincidence that they still have a tester bottle released in 2015, instead of me blind buying it. Big Macy’s stores in the city don’t have this Addict on their shelves anymore now. It is just available on their website.

Mmmmm…I love this…sweet and spicy all wrapped up in one. Too bad my husband does not seem to like it…a FB will have to wait…alas.
If you like this, you should try:
    ~JS Fancy~
    ~Pink Sugar~
    ~Prada Candy~

I noticed that in warmer weather, the green notes tend to shine more. Definitely too heavy for spring/summer.

I think I am falling in love with this perfume! It is so good. It is very long lasting but it sits pretty close to the skin for me. It is not overpowering at all. I only used 2 sprays to the wrists. I can easily see this becoming a signature fragrance for me for any time of the year! I am such a sucker for vanilla perfumes. This is a must have for vanilla lovers. 🙂
By the way, looking at the official notes listed for this, I just don’t understand how there are only 4 notes! I agree with others that said they smell Cinnamon. I definitely smell it! There seems to be more to this perfume than they are listing. It is more complex smelling than just 4 notes, IMO.

  15. :

    5 out of 5

I loved the 2012 formulation, it was velvety and smooth. The original from 2002 was richer and more complex but too much for me. This 2014 formulation, I bought blind, I tried to like it, but to me it comes off too harsh, like the original…except missing the depth and complexity. I never gave up though, and I still wear it from time to time, hoping it’ll grow on me. But so far, I’ve had more than two people on separate occasions tell me it smells like I’m wearing Axe body spray or some man cologne. Sigh.

  16. :

This smells confidence, but not my favorite. The opening is not appealing to me because it is quite medicinal and insect-repellent-like.. powdery, salty, and arousing if you having wisps of it but nauseating if you smell it intensely. Definitely do not over spray.

  17. :

    5 out of 5

I tested this in Ulta today and I get lots of cinnamon or maybe it’s nutmeg?! Neither are listed but that’s what I’m smelling! Kind of reminds me of ORGANZA by Givenchy. I would say this is an evening winter perfume very heavy and dark.

  18. :

    3 out of 5

I’ve never smelled the earlier formulations, and probably never will unfortunately, but I don’t feel as though I am missing out. The 2014 formulation is wonderful in its own right.
It’s a pity that this gets so much hate from those who miss the earlier formulations. I wonder if Dior had branded it with an entirely new name if it would receive more likes??
After reading so many reviews of the last two formulations of Dior Addict, I was confused and feeling a bit ripped off that I can’t have them too. There is a lot of anger and sense of loss seemingly felt by those who recall them. I get that (still missing Poison Tendre myself). Perhaps the anger should be directed at Dior for constantly reformulating fragrances but keeping the same names. Is it slightly fraudulent, and designed to catch buyers who think they are repurchasing their favourite frag? Or just lacking in imagination?
My advice to anyone who hasn’t tested Dior Addict EDP (current version in the blue bottle with silver trim), Judge it only against itself, not ghosts of Addicts past. This really stands alone as a quality fragrance. I have been wearing a tester I purchased all day, and love it so much I’ve just ordered two 100ml bottles. I don’t want to be one of those pining my lost love in a few years when Dior inevitably changes it again.
So, to the juice itself – Normally I avoid fragrances with a strong vanilla presence as I find that note too sweet and cloying, but either the citrus notes do a fine job of keeping this vanilla in check, or Bourbon Vanilla is denser and less sickly sweet. I didn’t enjoy the initial blast, but this disappears in under a minute on my skin, and I’m left with the most comforting fragrance. I wouldn’t call this sexy at all, and I don’t think it would sit well with some office colleagues, but it’s fabulous for an evening out, or in. Silage and longevity are big. IMO the 2014 formulation is worth the price.

It’s a very very great perfume.like nothing else.when they gift me this perfume I didn’t like it.I was young and silly and think it was heavy and manly.now I love it.it has a powerful character.vanilla is very special in dior addict and it’s different from vanilla in hypnotic poison and poison girl.in dior addict vanilla is dark and smokey and spicy and not sweet.there is a lot of flowers and jasmine.I don’t smell citrus.I smell a little woody and powdery and a little cinnamon.it’s not a teenager perfume and it’s not safe blindbuy.it’s for nights and longevity great.sillage between moderate and big.I love it.

I really like this version, i have a mini of the original version and i just bought this version in 30 ml. To me the two of them are the same in silliage and performance, but this new version actually smells more «vintage» to my nose than the original, i think it is because the white florals mostly jasmine is very strong in the new version and the old version is more heavy on the vanilla (wich i assosiate with new perfumes, for example black opium)

  22. :

I’m getting: Cinnamon, musk and a very masculine vanilla.
    Sexy fragrance.

  23. :

    4 out of 5

I purchased this in the 2014 formulation. This fragrance smells so good to me! I adore vanilla and white flowers so this was a blind buy. A very good one in my case because I adore it. I love how long it lasts too and on me the sillage is moderate but it’s cold here. My body heat seems to amplify scents so I’m looking forward to wearing this during the warmer months. I read the 2002 version had nuclear projection and I like my scents loud and this is pretty loud but it’s not obnoxious at all.
I also wear Pure Poison and I can smell the white flower similarity in this and Addict. I get compliments on this especially from my boyfriend he sniffs me and says you smell so good. So that makes me happy. On top of that I love it so much I can’t stop sniffing it. I can see that the name fits. I adore this and will be buying a 100ml bottle next I’m so happy with this!

This is an amazing perfume. Love at first sniff for me. I sprayed some on a card weeks ago and popped it in the pocket of my handbag. This beautiful smell is still wafting around me when I get something out of my bag. This is a perfume I have to have.

  26. :

Exactly as mentioned on the description : floral, powdery, vanillary… But is something special about this one that I can’t take my mind of it.
Make me want to wear this everyday ( of course I wouldn’t, specially because this one I’ve saved for especial occasions).
On the first spray, does feel very strong but does gets softer and very pleasant. Long lasting as well. I recommend.
By the way, my version is exactly the one on that picture above, I can’t understand why the confusion.
The secret is just look carefully all the details of the bottles then you guys will notice differences between all the versions of Addict.

  27. :

    5 out of 5

2012 has gold metal instead of silver and says DIOR ADDICT sideways on the cap part while the 2014 does not have any words on the sides of the cap. And only the EDP’s have a metal band, the EDT does not, so don’t buy the EDT by mistake.)
To be completely sure, you can take your perfume to a perfume store and do a wrist by wrist comparison. The 2012 and 2014 EDP DO smell different enough to notice. But be careful they don’t think you stole the one you brought with you! Happened to me once and it was so embarrassing, especially since they didn’t even sell mine at that store, so how did I “steal” it? LOL
Almost forgot: the 2014, you pull the cap off and there is a normal spray underneath. The older versions, you don’t pull the cap off because it’s not a real cap. The metal knob on top acts as a button you press and it sprays out from a hole on the side of the “cap,” the same side that says DIOR ADDICT. Sorry, I’m bad at describing things.

  28. :

I think you can tell by the bottle but I’m not sure bc every bottle I see today looks like the 2012 rather than the 2014

  29. :

I think this edp has so much more notes than the ones that Dior are telling us… especially in the drydown i detect a deep sandalwood or is it amber maybe?…anyways its amazing!!!

  30. :

    5 out of 5

This is funny because Dior Addict has two or three different pages of reviews here, all for different reformulations of the exact same perfume, I think? I believe I have the most recent version, the 2014, so I will review this here. I once got a bottle of the original 2002 version. It was huge, overpowering and totally amazing and I loved it. However, I have allergies to a lot of perfumes and I would wear it despite the fact that my eyes would be burning red by the end of the night. So I finally gave it away. I gave it away because I knew I would keep wearing it, despite how it hurt my eyes and nose — exactly like an addiction, right? You must indulge if it is right there, despite the pain! So I gave it up, gave it away so I would not be tempted to wear it, and forgot about it. Then I tried the new version, just to see. The reformulation got rid of whatever made me allergic, so hallelujah sweet baby Jesus, I can wear Addict now any time I want to. This is one of those perfumes that does not add up to its ingredients. If you read the list of its notes, that list in no way describes this perfume. It’s like there is a strange, dark, vinyl-like ingredient that no one is telling us about, because Addict definitely is more than what is listed. It feels like a metallic or vinyl edge among the vanilla scents. This scent is unique in a way I cannot pin down. I love it, and am thrilled that the newer version is safe for me to wear. No allergic reaction at all. Something about the Poison line and Addict, only this one, the original one, all belong to the same dark, mysterious and intriguing family. This scent won’t be for everybody. But on the right person, it is extremely seductive, attractive and it makes a person lean in to you, to smell it more. A wonderful thing of beauty!

  31. :

    5 out of 5

This version is more of the white flowers than vanilla on my skin. The previous formulas were more balsamic and vanillic.
They all are pretty in their own rights. Even though I already have the previous 2012 version (which I prefer to this one) I wouldn’t mind adding this bottle in my collection bc they do not smell completely alike on me.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I really can’t get the hype on this perfume, I tried it several times to see what are people talking about, but I just got a grown-up vanilla scent and nothing else!!
All the fusses around this fragrance, just don’t make any sense for me!
I mean it is nice, but I don’t really see anything special or unique, it is a super forgettable fragrance for me, doesn’t worth the hype IMHO!

  33. :

    4 out of 5

This is such an unique scent!!!, it opens very ivy green and then it develops in this creamy deep vanilla. Its very sophisticated and sexy at the same time, and a very different twist even though its a 2000 decade parfum.

  34. :

    3 out of 5

The ultimate vanilla fragrance. For me there will never be a vanilla quite as perfect as the dior addicts. Just cool, creamy, slightly masculine goodness. There is good reason this scent is so popular and well loved.
I have tried all three versions. To me? No difference. I know, I know. There are some people who swear up and down the original is the best route to go with addict, but I couldn’t disagree more. Same exact scent, slightly less intense in the opening. Thats it. 2012 version and this? Exact same.
Ill save my pennies and buy the current version.. The .5 second difference isn’t worth the money they go for on ebay to me, but 100% to each their own. Either way, gorgeous fragrance with great performance. All three versions. Ill never be without a bottle in my collection.

  35. :

    3 out of 5

The bottle I have has production date 2016, so I assume this is the correct page.
I really enjoy this scent. I LOVE vanilla, to me this smells more complex and deeper than the notes listed. I get a bozy, rich deep vanilla (‘sweet but not sugary sweet) like real bitter-sweet vanilla. I get an incency smell to this also. Is very nice, sophisticated and dimential (especially considering the few notes) Jasmin is my favourite flower in perfume and I do enjoy it in here. I think the white flowers give it an incency vibe. I would have loved to smell the pre 2014 one though to compare.

  36. :

    5 out of 5

This is the ultimate perfume. For me for a long time it was Shalimar (they are similar scents), but Addict doesn’t have this sharp edge to it, like Shalimar, that puts a lot of people off, especially guys. Addict is sexy and comforting at the same time, guys love it and so do little children. Safe blind buy. It doesn’t just fill the room, it fills the house and it’s a good thing. The longevity is off the charts, if it gets on clothes it stays for 3 days. I got it on my scarf, left it in the hall and our hall smelled like Addict for 3 whole days.
I was thinking why isn’t it ever top of the bestsellers list in online stores and then it hit me: this perfume is so perfect, people don’t buy it because in their subconscious they think they don’t deserve it. Well I think everyone deserves it, I wouldn’t mind if whole planet smelled like Dior Addict.

  37. :

    3 out of 5

I do not get any vanilla with this for some reason, a slightly spicy jasmine. It is a beast though, all you need is 3 sprays (if that) promise! I wish I could have smelled it (pre-pre-?)pre-formulation though 🙁 My main problem, and this is purely personal, is that I could never figure out a good time to wear, it was too heavy for work, too heavy for the weekend, and didn’t strike me as a going out/date kind of fragrance. Basically, it didn’t have a place in my olfactory life.

  38. :

    3 out of 5

This is a nice fragrance. The opening has a thick sweetness that may be too much for some, but later it gets safer. Addict is a sensual and mature perfume. Very good for elegant date nights.

  39. :

    It is still good fragrance
    Powerfull but not overpowering
    Strong but not intimidating
Full and delicious but not vulgar
    Love it
I would say its creamier version of its procedor bit less spicy
    Amazing lovley perfume very Dior

I got this some time ago and was initially disappointed with it, which I couldn’t understand as I had tested it previously. However, the more I wear it, the more I fall in love with this fragrance. The beginning is quite green, which I didn’t enjoy at the start but now find myself craving in the morning, which is how I end up wearing this perfume many days in a row. It slowly transforms into one of the loveliest interpretations of jasmine I’ve ever experienced, bathed in creamy vanilla. This is too floral to smell like a gourmand to me but that is by no means a criticism – this scent is delicious, but, to me, not in an edible way. It’s a masterful composition and the sweetness is just on the right side of “too much”.
Delicately green, elegantly floral, with a little spice in the sweet vanilla, and very rich without being nauseating. I love this perfume more each time I wear it. It is truly beautiful in cooler weather.

  41. :

    4 out of 5

This should be handled with extreme caution as one too many sprays could drown a room (I tend to do one spray under clothes, two if I’m feeling really sassy). I’m honestly terrified to think of how powerful the pre-refomulation version is as mine is from late 2015, but wow, its still an incredibly powerful fragrance that gets noticed and turns heads.
It’s a bit sweeter than I’d traditionally want. Creamy florals and smooth vanilla. It’s the kind of fragrance men say they love on women. Distinctive, I can always tell right away when there’s someone in the vicinity wearing this and I often smell it on young women in their 20s at bars, dinner dates, and clubs.
If you’re looking for loud and sexy this is it.

  42. :

    5 out of 5

I made the mistake of testing both the original and this in warmer weather and thought that they were “bleh” and “suffocating” and “diva”. I honestly felt like a sad, burnt vanilla cupcake.
In cooler weather the scent is completely YUMMY!! Complete 180 experience! I went and purchased the 2014 version since the original was way too strong and the sillage would consume everything around me. I feel like the 2014 version really enhanced on the sultry vanilla/white floral combo and gave me that extra sparkle that I needed to feel sexy!
It’s just the right combination of warm powdery vanilla and white florals that is both elegant and mesmerizingly sexy!

  43. :

Having had at least 3 bottles of the original, I decided to save my last one ( in which the liquid left has turned brown ) and buy myself a new one. You see, I am heavy handed with perfumes and I actually use up bottles, despite being blessed with a rather giant collection.
The new Addict was a pleasant surprise. I tested it in the store, walked around for about one hour and waited for it to disappear, to become weak and boring , and to make me go home without shedding $165 plus tax ( this is the price in Canada for 100 ml ).
That didn’t happen. It stayed strong, sexy, beautiful and confident. Moreover, the reformulation resembled quite closely the original one.
The only difference was that this has a tiny fresh note whereas the original is woodier and creamier . The drydown is also less complex. It must be the tonka that is missing in the new one. The cinnamon ( not listed in the notes of the new but definitely present ) mingles beautifully with a powerful vanilla. There are some flowers thrown in , presumely jasmine, but they aren’t dominant. This is a spicy vaniilla, scent l
The silage and lasting power are also quite superb , especially considering this was created in the new era of asthmatic people and rain water diluted perfumery .
It has the oldie but goodie charm , and it can definitely represent Dior.
This Dior Addict is simply wonderful and although I still have some of the old one, and they are slightly different , I cannot justify the bad reviews this one gets, nor the stigma associated with OMG, another reformulation !
    It’s just lovely .

I know, I know… not gonna get any balloons, but here’s the truth.
So, I finally got my first Dior Addict. It wasn’t really a blind buy because I remember trying it on at a dept. store once a long time ago and thinking, okay, this is nice. Then I kept reading reviews and was like okay, I have to get this like now now!!!
So, it came in the mail the other day and I’m kind of disappointed. I think I’m going to have to wear it a few more times to get even just a like out of it though…
Also, I swear it smells SO much like a Chai Latte, which isn’t bad, I guess. And even though it’s not listed, there HAS to be cinnamon in this like others have mentioned.
My husband said it’s okay, but nothing special. Maybe it will grow on the both of us the more I wear it? I hope!! I don’t want $85 to go down the drain. =/
Sigh… wish I loved this! Maybe I’ll hold onto it for a while and hope my tastes change?

Having never having smelled any of the Dior Addicts before this, I have nothing to compare it with but I love this! (2014 version)
It’s creamy, smooth florals and vanilla. Delicious!
In theory I should not like this perfume since I don’t do well with huge white florals and this has orange blossom and jasmine. This isn’t my signature but there are times I just really crave it, so I guess they named it appropriately.

I have both the original version and this 2014 version. Honestly, I wonder why people are demonizing this reformulation. In my opinion the 2014 version is still great. I don’t feel the need to hunt down more of the original version. In fact, I just ordered a 100 ml bottle of this in addition to my 50 ml bottle.

    EDP 2017
I tried this fragrance in store several days ago on blotter because I had other fragrance on my wrists. Dior Addict is a very powerful fragrance, very strong vanilla with cinnamon (I see many people smell cinnamon here, even though it is not listed in the notes). Vanilla here isn’t sweet, but genuine and rather dry. The scent lasted on the paper for 2 days and my whole room smelled very strongly like it this whole time. Mind you, this is from 1 spray on the blotter. I can’t imagine what a powerhouse old versions were! I personally prefer average lasting power and projection because I like changing perfumes often.
I get the frustration when some perfumes get reformulated or discontinued, however to me this chase after older formulations is just pointless and not worth the risk. Perfumes do go bad, they can be preserved only in dark cool dry places, preferably intact (not sprayed at all). And even then, buying a fully sealed bottle is a gamble because seller can’t guarantee that what’s inside is best quality.
Addict is one of those perfumes that get this negative vibe because of reformulations, same as Chanel No5 (which I own and love) and Miss Dior.
However, I recommend you just giving it a try. It is unlike currently popular synthetic vanilla fragrances, but very warm and genuine vanilla with unique cinnamon kick.

Man, I wish I had tried an older version of this. I blind bought this based on it’s status as a must-have icon. I didn’t pay attention and I got this version rather than an older one, when the senior versions are describe
