Bares a slight resemblance to Le male but with a much more hefty dose of mint. Not bad but a completely Unoriginal release. Fairly safe and verstaile and even though it might sound appealing it’s pretty boring to me. To sum up a sweet tonka, cinnamon and mint, mint and more mint.
neancePaype – :
If people are expecting this to smell identical to Le Male based on some of these comparisons they’re going to be let down. Then again we’re talking about a community that thinks Reflection Man also smells like Le Male.
Serious question, do some of you just pick up a similar note and determine that makes 2 scents smell the same?
My advice to anyone considering this one, as always, get a sample and make up your own mind. For the record I’d rank them all about a 6/10 but that’s not to say they’re similar

Fragrance -Darley Parfums de Marly
Bottle from – 2015
Darley is a likeable, optimistic and a bit modern take on a classic fougere with lavender as a dominant note.It opens with a bit loud, vibrant and fresh citrus notes mingled with mint and with a hint of flowers.During mid development rose, lavender and orange blossom comes into the game and adds a bit gentle and romantic floral breeze with a wisper of warm cinnamon.
This all leads into a woody, creamy, warm and spicy base with dominant tonka, sandalwood and patchouli.
It has some similarities to Le Male by JPG especialy in the opening. It also has some resemblance to Reflection Man by Amouage.
Longevity – 8/10(8+ hours)
Silage/Projection – 7/10(moderate projection and silage for the first 2-3 hours)
Weather – best in spring, summer and autumn
Age – 20+
Compliments – 8/10
Scent – 7,5/10
Main notes according to me – lavender,mint,sandalwood,tonka bean,orange blossom,cinnamon,rose.
The drydown is spicy, warm and creamy and I get some -woodiness,sweetness,patchouli and tonka.
Emotions –
likeable,cheerful,positive energy,highspirited,vibrant.
Occasion -for more or less any ocasion.

A nice sweet Minty, Rose with Lavender, Sandalwood, Guaiac wood, Patchouli, and Amber. This fragrance has a floral opening that is very soft and very noticeable! Darley is light, but pointed! Daring but contained!
…a creamy airy fragrance that although VERY different could be found amongst the likes of Reflection Man maybe even Lyric Man. (PdM fragrances smell amazingly good).
Overall, a great fragrance!!
By the way, I recognize that the dry down of this brings to mind the beautiful dry down in Mancera’s Aoud Violet!

I’m wearing it to be tonight. Its okay. It kind of makes me wish I would have sprayed Herod or Subury instead. or Oajan.
I mean it smells good, but it’s not one of their most unique, or the scent with the most personality. I am so going to get slaughtered for saying this, but it reminds me of one of those “CUBA” brand fragrances from Florida.
You know the inexpensive ones with the bottle shaped like a cigar. I forget which one, but it totally reminds me of it. I would love to say the quality is better, but I do not know. I am not sure of the difference of ingredients. I will assume that this has higher-end ingredients.
But if I were to judge the quality based on the performance alone, they are about the same. Doesn’t last that long so far, and not a huge amount of sillage. However a price difference of about $300, LOL. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
It smells nice, but reminds you of a million things you have smelled before.

Parfums de Marly Darley is one of the less-celebrated members of the house, and the likeness to Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male is undoubtedly part of the reason that Darley gets less glory. Darley isn’t particularly daring.
Still, it’s very pleasant and agreeable, as a citrus/mint opening gives way to a floral heart (rose, orange blossom, jasmine, rosemary) and a woody dry down of sandalwood and guaiac, primarily. It has that nutty/fizzy edge to it like Le Male without the almond itself.
Darley is far more a Le Male clone than Profumum Antico Caruso, as many accuse the latter of this but I think Darley accomplishes the feat of paying tribute to Le Male far better than AC. Both, though, are better than Le Male, and Darley certainly feels a little more sophisticated in that it is not quite as sweet as Le Male.
Performance is decent, about moderate on project but well above average on longevity.
Darley is a worthy scent but even at discounted pricing on the secondary market ($151 for 125ml on Notino), I’d be hard-pressed to want to buy a full-bottle.
7 out of 10

If Le Male’s opening met the body of Burberry Touch for men and they went off and had a kid, this would definitely be the product. Wet, semi-masculine (?) flowers that smell a little spicy at the onset but settle down into a more sensual base. Not at the gym, not when you need projection, but for close encounters? Yeah. Not for hypermasculine men or those who consider themselves very serious, manly men with a beard and huge traps. Need confidence and a warm demeanor to pull this off, because the only way anyone’s smelling this stuff is in your bed on your skin.
This is one of those indoor when its warm and outdoor when the weather’s perfect type of scents (i.e. same places you’d wear YSL L’Homme)
Masculinity 6/10
Projection 6/10 note: haven’t tried spraying on only clothes yet, scents tend to linger a tad more when I spray on a pulse point AND on my clothing (that’s two sprays folks, don’t bathe yourself). Might want to try spraying on two pulse points and on clothes to increase the sillage
Longevity 7/10
Overall 8/10! (This stuff smells a little flowery, but something keeps it from being cloying and it just plain smells good.)
Edit: Upon dry down this becomes warmer and even more…masculine? Almost gives a warm comfortable vibe, like coffee (not the scent, don’t jump on me now guys). Still an 8/10 overall but masculinity just earned itself a 7

I see and understand the comparisons to le male and reflection. This could be a sibling of both. However, where reflection has a spice kick to it, this does not. Darley seems to have a very smooth quality to it. Of the three, this is my preference. I get phenomenal projection for 4 hours – after that, it still projects – but not as far – and I’m talking about 1 spray y’all. 1 spray. Go easy. This will give you a sore throat. G’head and throw this to the top of your rotation. A worthy blind buy if you’re a fan of reflection or le male.

PDM you are swiftly becoming the bane of my existence.
Yet another amazing scent, perfectly balanced, masterfully blended, oh-so-natural smelling… with terrible performance.
I adore Darley, it has a floral meaty component that isn’t trying on the nose. The sandalwood really shines through for me with the lavender and a touch of citrus.
Scent 7/10 it’s not their best but its good enough to buy if it worked better or cost less.
Projection 4/10 barely smelled it after spraying.
Sillage 3/10 hardly any trail if at all.
Longevity 5/10 it has been sticking around for a while as a skin scent that is very pleasant.
I don’t know who you people are that get beast-mode performance out of these fragrances but I am clearly not one of them.

i was looking for Le Male alternative for summer and blind bought this one , i liked it ,fresh and soft scent and very suitable for summer but it doesn’t smells like Le Male
longevity is good
sillage is soft
overpriced

whoever said it’s exactly like JPG le male, said True.
actually at first it’s not like JPG but after 30min, congratulation you have JPG with 200$ not more not less.
so it’s more economic to buy Le male instead of Darley.6/10
rrb491InsuffBooni – :
To me this is very similar to Gaultier’s Fleur du Male, only brighter, more complex, and more masculine.
waw177 – :
It seems like everyone is overlooking Darley because Herod is the famous older brother. Darley is Rose done extremely well. Amazing compliment getter, especially from females. It’s slightly more feminine but I think that is what makes it so unique. Lasts all day on my skin. Truly amazing.
Zoominserie – :
I think the perfumer tried to put a twist on Lumiere Noire by adding mint and a few other notes. It has resulted in a huge failure. There is a clash of notes going on and this scent has no true identity. One minute it’s rose, then mint then patch and so on. It seems like the scent was rushed or the perfumer had a limited budget to work with.
VitaminBY – :
Agree with Colin Maillard. This is clumsy and sadly aspirational. The rose, mint, and vanilla combination is unpleasant. This house is very inconsistent.
tiger2300 – :
smells better then le male but the longevity and projection are both weak considering the price 🙁
tracovaveas – :
A fresh and soft mint/rose perfume. I think it is a gently masculine scent. I really like it! My only complaint is that they only sell it in 125ml bottles, which is too much for me (both in quantity and price…I would prefer a 50ml or 75ml bottle…).
7karuzo – :
No doubt that it is a very well blended fragrance made of the best ingredients, still I cant help thinking of two other scents that this one brings to my mind. Somehow it makes me remember of Body Kouros after drydown (minus the synthetic “Kouros notes”) and and bit of Amouage Honor Man. I know B.K. is not the same quality (or price) category as either of the other two, but I just can’t ignore Darley’s reminissence of Body Kouros and Honor Man. I am talking about the overall impression, the vibe that someone might get when passing by you. Funny thing is that it even reminded me a bit of Avril Lavigne Black Star that my niece was wearing at Xmas, and which she showed me with such a great inthusiasm. So I think Darley is rather on the unisex, or perhaps even a bit on the feminine side of the scale right untill the far-drydown phase, only that’s where I start to find it a bit more masculine than feminine. And I usually wear both the rough mucho scents and the more refined, “gentleman” scents with quite a confidence…but not this one. It is not neccessarily the freshness that I miss from Darley but a character that would make a scent all in all masculine.

Gorgeous ROSE-Mint perfume! Darley is such a darling perfume, surely not only for men.. I found this one the most unisex out of the Marly’s. It is warm, herbal, rosey, minty and the dominant cinnamon note reminds me of advent time:) a little early now in august, but winter will come..the overall impression is a heavy oriental, creamy oily spiced up rose! I am very short of falling in love with this scent. Could have been an Amouage..
