My first foray in the Victoria’s Secret scents…lol.
This one is in the “same family/vibe” of YSL Blac Opium and/or Sofia Vergara Love. NOT a clone/dupe, just similar characteristics. The first spray is alcohol-y and hairspray-ish…which dissapates quickly..then you get into the scent. Then it goes thru the YSL BO/Vergara Love notes…the “coffee-ish” note comes in the drydown, and maybe with a little chocolate vibe thrown in…???…Surprisingly,I am liking this.NEVER thought of really testing or buying VS perfumes…lol…but now I may go out and test/try just to see what’s going on further….lol…ya never know.

On me, this one smells sexy, warm, seductive in a sophisticated way (NOT “lushy” or “cheap”). I guess because of the “smokey”, “bitter chocolatey” vanilla/caramel notes that makes this fragrance smell expensive. In the end it also has a “coffee”/”tobacco” vibe lingering on my skin. The longevity is up to my expectation and satisfaction (good 3-4 hours). I don’t quite get a lot of mango at all, but rather a light scent of coconut in the opening. Dark Angel is less sweet and more mature than majority of VS perfumes and of course, less sweet and a tat lighter than VS Rose Caramel which I also enjoy the rose in it very much. It is much more “classy” and “upscale” than Noir Tease…for sure. I think that is how a limited edition perfume SHOULD BE!
It is “dark” enough to be an evening or clubbing perfume. I would be careful spraying it during hot season though. It definitely lives up to its name Dark Angel, and the bottle suits perfectly with the juice inside.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium has woodsy and spicy scents while this one does not. At least that is how they smell like on my skin.
I ordered a bottle of LOVE by Sofia Vergara and can’t wait to compare its notes with this one.

Thank God I only paid 9 bux for this. When VS wants to create amazing unique perfumes they do so (see: Love me which is my HG, Night, XO Victoria, Eau so Party, Eau so Sexy). Not in this case. It reminds me of so many other VS perfumes with that distinct “teenage girl in the locker room” vibe lol. It has that summer sun tan lotion VS DNA. Its like Very Sexy Now 2016 and the Scandalous combined. Just like Bath & Body Works has that candle vanilla DNA in their one-after-the-other releases. Thats I guess one of those quick releases. Not bad, very nice as i love the ones i mentioned(Scandalous, Very Sexy Now 2016) but it gets so repetitive. Its summery and casual and doesnt last long. Black Opium edp? hmm alil bit, maybe the beach version if that ever existed.

First, the bottle is amazing! I absolutely adore it.Yes this is similar to this and that, and there is nothing really new or groundbreaking here. I actually would say I prefer the notes of Dark Angel to Sofia Love. Mango is one of my favorite fruity notes and it dominates this scent to the point where I don’t really get the comparisons to others (aside from the fact that it’s sweet and fruity like the majority of popular women’s scents) None of the similar scents have this juicy mango. I also love the almond blossom ( I adore anything almond) and the caramel is great in this composition. It all just works really well. The silage is pretty good and I’m sure the longevity is probably moderate as I find most VS scents to be. as usual with the VS scents with a dark or edgy name I really dont find anything “dark” about it. It’s a flirty party girl scent, not a seductive dark angel like you would think lol

if you cant put your finger on what this smells like, i’ll give u a hint: gucci guilty black, BUT BETTER. the dry downs are completely different, and overall, i think this is a more complex smelling fragrance (one you don’t get tired of smelling as you’re wearing it). Personally it smells more plum than mango to me. the caramel, too, stands out, especially in the dry down. a very very slight hint of coffee.
awesome. smells really good, and is a wonderful ‘dark’ fragrance without going into the ‘i smell like a man’ zone.

I just got this, blind buy. The reviews and notes seemed right up my alley. As soon as I sprayed this I immediately thought it smelled almost like something else that I have. I had my boyfriend take a whiff (I make him smell every bottle of perfume I get lol), not saying it was new but just asked his opinion and he said he thought it was nice last time I wore it. Mind you that this was the very first time I spritzed this straight out of the box. Poison girl by Dior and dark angel are nearly identical. I’m not complaining, they are both very beautiful scents. The almond blossom is the most dominant note after the dry down as is in poison girl. I can smell the caramel and fruity note as well. Everything blends together perfectly.
Edit: this does start off nearly identical to poison girl but after this develops, it still has a faint resemblance to poison girl but this is more of an adult nighttime kind of sexy scent. A date night scent. I wore this to bed last night and I noticed the development. Absolutely gorgeous!

    The fragrance is exquisite!
It has been compared to fragrances like Hollywood Royal Juicy Couture Mirada by Avon and Love by Sofia Vergara and Candy by Prada. I’ve worn all those fragrances but don’t quite see how close it resembles any of them. This is very much a Victoria Secret perfume. It doesn’t last as long as the other fragrances but it’s as sweet, fruity, exotic, dark and rich, seductive and beautiful. I think it has something from all the other frags namely the caramel from Candy by Prada and the coffee note from Love Sofia Vergara. The opening is a sweet gourmand note of almond blossom that comes and goes softly, discreetly, sweetly. Then there’s a mango that is very delicious and tropical, perhaps a light citrus in there too. The fruits turn into a dark almost litchi type of scent, very creamy. Then a coffee note emerges and turns into a caramel candy type of scent. Smells like those small little butterscotch coffee candies. The caramel in the dry down is so good!
I love the bottle and don’t care if it’s supposed to look like a dark angel or fallen angel. The bottle is very attractive and looks good in anyone’s perfume collection. This is one of the more creative of the Victoria Secret bottles other than Rapture and the Swarovski crystal bottle of Heavenly with the angel wings. And like the previous reviewer noted it can be dark, not too dark or smoky, or mature, but just dark enough as an exotic fruite with the mango and the coffee. Smells like a sweet mango cocktail sipped from atop a treehouse in the Brazilian rainforest!
Beautiful. This fragrance is totally evening wear perfume for me but it’s best worn in the summer time. I’m wearing this to my next cruise job. I’m an entertainer on cruise lines in the Caribbean that take off from the port of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. This is as tempting as can get for a VS perfume and sure to enchant anyone that comes near me.
    Thank You Victoria Secret

in my humble opinion the juice inside does fit the bottle. I do not like those intense earthy patchouli scents anyways i love fruity , caramel vanilla scent with a touch of floral thats what a lot of girls who shop at victorias secret love..i wanted to try so many different perfumes that are popular but i turn them away because of those strange patchoul notes. This actually does have a dark vibe but Victorias secret dark vibe…victorias secret dark vibe is different way different from Thierry muglier dark vibe. Anyways i love the whole concept the Mango and caramel and a little coffeee..and i even really like the bottle.

    OMG
I really liked the bottle with the dark angel wings but like other people have mentioned with a name like Dark Angel one would hope to get a bad ass Gothic fragrance something darker edgier, something like out of Agent Provocateur’s L’Agent or Fancy Nights Jessica Simpson, or perhaps a niche fragrance line Phoenix Alchemy Lab? Anyways this is Victoria Secret so you get what you pay for. This is a great looking bottle but the scent is a pretty standard gourmand sweet smell of fruit and caramel. It smells good don’t get me wrong and I do love it but like with Fame by Lady Gaga, the bottle and the design of the bottle/packaging doesn’t match with the scent. I hate when that happens it’s like the cheapest trick and mind fuck. There are only three notes which is what you get with so many of the newer Victoria Secret body mists. This has a top note of almond, middle note of mango and base note of caramel.
The first spritz of Dark Angel is an almond that smells like a praline, nutty and spicy but it never gets too spicy as the fruit takes over. This is a mango with a sweet mango juice type of air. A bit tropical. The mango is also similar to mango scented hair shampoo from Garnier Fructis. I do like mango so it smells great especially when I spray it on my neck where the strands of my hair meet the sides of my face and then my hair gets some of it. The fragrance is so tasty and attractive.
The final note is of caramel and because of the mango it starts to smell a bit of fruit cake. The caramel is probably an amber with caramel. Delicious caramelized filling. Very gourmand. The scent, however, like other VS frags, does not last too long and it’s in fact a body mist. This has very poor sillage and projection and can only be detected from very up front. My boyfriend Stephen likes this on me and says it makes him horny so at least it has a purpose. I wear it to bed. It looks great on my dresser table. I’m not sure if it’s been discontinued but I haven’t seen it in a Victoria Secret store in a long time. I bought this one online where you may still be able to find newer unused bottles.

If you love this get Sofia Vergara Love, smells nearly identical but to me better and is for sure longer lasting..All day on me! Reminds me of this as well as a tad YSL Black Opium, also beats that one in longevity and at a fraction of the cost.

  11. :

    3 out of 5

This is a great fragrance for a VS scent. But it’s nothing new… Both YSL Black Opium and Sofia Vergara Love smell just like this. YSL being the most expensive obviously, VS DA coming in 2nd most expensive, and Sofia Vergara Love the cheapest AND longest lasting of the three. Does Dark Angel smell good? Yeah, it does… but so do the other two that smell EXACTLY like it and one is cheaper. lol Just by SV Love. Especially now that Dark Angel is discontinued and eBay prices for it have skyrocketed.

No surprises with this one, well, other than there’s nothing “dark” about it. It’s a simple, huggable fragrance. The notes you see are the notes you get. Caramel, almond and mango. It’s pleasant and I really enjoy it. However, it does have the slight “cat pee” thing going on that some people get from mango. I only noticed briefly in the top and it’s completely gone by the time the caramel nudges everything else out. If you love caramel, you should give this one a try.

I agree it smells like Juicy Hollywood Royal. Another VS/Juicy dupe except I like this much better than Hollywood Royal. I didn’t like this scent at first because it was more fruity than I expected. After the fruitiness settles it is a nice warm almondy smell. I wish they hadn’t discontinued it so fast right when I started to love it!

very soft sweet floral fragrance but it stays on the skin

This reminds me a little bit of Fantasy by Britney Spears.. a similar sweet perfume. Not overwhelming sweet but sweet enough.
I detect mostly caramel and a hint of the almond.

Just cant wrap my head around this one 🙁
Someone must have kept sneakily replacing the contents of my bottle with Hollywood Royal(Juicy Couture)… for the life of me I cant tell them apart!
Where the heck is the mango in this..?
    Dark? What?
I get a smidgen of caramel.
I don’t hate it…but its just another boring fruity thing 🙁
    L: Moderate
    S: Soft

Love it – sadly they just discontinued this a couple weeks ago!! I bought a bottle just in time and you can still find the perfume/rollerball/body lotions on eBay. Wish Victoria’s Secret hadn’t done that because this is one of their best by far.
Dark Angel is perfectly named, in my opinion. It’s angelic from the mango (which is the first note I smell when I spray on my skin, and lasts for 20-30 minutes), and dark from the caramel/latte notes, which envelop the mango and flowery almond blossom for the rest of the duration (I get about 4 hours on my skin). Warm and feminine and surprisingly complex for just a little 3-note scent from VS.

So, I tried Dark Angel at a VS store several days ago.
As a caramel note lover, it was definitely YUMMY and OH-SO-DELICIOUS!
I can smell the coffee too, and it definitely has almond in it.
I couldn’t really smell the mango though.
It lasted around 5 hours on my skin.
I would buy it if I had more money in my savings. 😛
    Fragrant-wise, I indeed love it.
Longevity wise, it would be so-so.

  19. :

    4 out of 5

Nothing dark about it. I mean that it should be called ‘Sweet Angel’ or something like that. If you want to smell like a candy shop, go for it.

  20. :

    4 out of 5

It smells good but just like all other VS perfumes it lasts an hour or two max. The caramel note is really a caramel latte (as per the box and VS website) which is very believable because it does have a coffee scent to it. If I weren’t mistaken, I’d say this is a close dupe to YSL Black Opium.

I must be one of the lucky ones because this perfume lasts long on me!!!!
I instantly fell in love with this one last year when I went to VS and tested it out but didn’t get a bottle.
By the time I planned on getting it it was always sold out at the 2 stores I go to in my area lol so since I heard it was being discontinued I got online & hunted down a big bottle for a excellent price.
I smell all the notes the 1st being the caramel then mango & the almond blossom..all 3 make a beautiful blend<3 I literally can’t get enough of it!!!! Anytime I’ve worn this I get complimented & asked what perfume am I wearing….I definitely wouldn’t call this a so called “dark” scent but IMO its a very sexy even mysterious scent.
The longevity is easily 6 or more hours on me!!!! The silliage I find to be moderate…..This is a wonderful scent for the fall/winter months BUT I think this would work nice in the spring & even summer as long as you don’t overload when applying & keep it light.
**VS Rapture has always been my signature scent since highschool back in the 90’s but as of now its being retired and Dark Angel has taken over & is my new signature scent!!!!!**
The bottle is super cute with the wings on it!
I snagged me another 3.4oz bottle of this along with 2 bottles of the matching body lotion since its being discontinued but I hope VS brings this back in the future<3

I don’t have much to add as far as a review of Dark Angel goes – it smells warm, cozy, and soft. It’s not really a dark scent like the name suggests, just as others have stated. And yes, longevity is not awesome, though it does cling to clothes pretty well.
All that being said, my biggest critique of this perfume was the mango nectar note. I personally feel like this could have been a much more unique scent if the mango was taken out. I decided to try to mix Dark Angel with something else to boost longevity and also put a new spin on it and I mixed it with the Marshmallow Pumpkin Latte lotion from the Bath and Body Works fall collection from this year. Jackpot!! The MPL lotion is warm and sweet and slightly spicy from the ginger, and the caramel latte from Dark Angel blends in gorgeously. The tropical mango note is slightly toned down, but helps to bring a new dimension to the gourmand notes of the lotion. I adore these two together! I figured I would share in case anyone else would like to give this blend a try 🙂

I sprayed this today at the perfume shop and forgot it until after a few minutes I could smell a sweet and tropical smell but one which is not overly sweet. I can understand the connection with black opium which is also more sweet than black.
Actually, I didn’t think I would like smells with tropical notes but I really liked it. However, I don’t know if I would purchase it if it has weak longevity.

  25. :

    5 out of 5

Smells like sweet coffee, but not overly sweet .
Soft, warm and cozy its linear and close to the skin.
    Weak longevity .
Something about it reminds me of YSL Black Opium .
I like it a lot and think it would make a nice gift for anyone as well.
Especially for the gorgeous bottle !

Dark Angel is a very soft and warm scent that stays close to the skin.
Perfect for wearing to the office or any place you don’t want to offend anyone with your fragrance.
This smells like warm caramel with undertones of warm musk. Very nice and cozy scent.

  27. :

Definitely am in love with the way this smells. I spritz myself with this like ten times every time I go to work at Victoria’s Secret. It’s very tropical fruity but also with that lovely caramel, what a beautiful combination that I wish more perfumes were like.
    BUT
It’s very light. I don’t feel like it lasts very well. I mean, I will smell my clothes after like 15 hours and I smell it faintly, but it’s just not strong enough or long lasting enough to be an eau de parfum (in my opinion). Still, though, I love it.

  28. :

    4 out of 5

This perfume is so delicious and tempting, first when you spray it for 5 minutes you only get fruity notes but after that the sweet caramel takes place. Really really love this parfume, it can be a signature note for somebody

  29. :

    4 out of 5

This perfume was an instant love for me (even though VS is notorious for lack of longevity), however how can I say “No” when it was $25 for a 1.7oz… that sealed the deal.
This perfume is very safe and light. If you really liked VS Scandelous or VS Very Sexy Temptations, you’re guarenteed to like this as well. It smells extremely close to Scandelous though for reference. Enjoy!

Hmm for some reason my review came up as “guest” but here is my original review
“This perfume smells so good, like musky caramel with some added coffee BUT the lasting power is a joke! I can’t even smell this after an hour and that’s horrible for a regular perfume to disappear like that, let alone a “dark” scented perfume. Too bad 🙁
If the lasting power was better then I would buy this in a heartbeat.”

I have not tried Dark Angel and will not bother.
Before I read these reviews, I already suspected that it would probably be another weak fragrance with no longevity. In years past, Victoria’s Secret really did produce quality fragrances that were worth their high price tags. They have discontinued almost all of their quality perfumes. I collect V.S. and it’s upsetting to see that quality go down the toilet. My favorite V.S. frags are the Dream Angels, which all have excellent sillage, longevity, and the scents are great (Desire has been my number one perfume for many years). They are all discontinued except Heavenly, which has dropped the “Dream Angels” prefix and is simply called Heavenly.
It is almost criminal to me that they would have their prices remain the same (or raise them) and make crappy scents with the longevity and sillage of body sprays.
Victoria’s Secret has sold themselves out to the almighty dollar.
EDIT: I wrote V.S. about this issue with the weakness of their fragrances. This is their reply:
    “Hello Julie,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us about our Eau de Parfums. It is my pleasure to respond to you personally.
I regret the quality of your recent Eau de Parfum purchases were less than expected. It is always our goal to provide our customers with quality merchandise at a good value. Not meeting this goal is disappointing not only to you, but to us as well.
I have personally shared your love of Dream Angels Desire, as well as your disappointment with the the longevity and packaging of our current fragrances with our Product team. We appreciate your comments, and take them very seriously. We thank you for making us aware of your dissatisfaction.
We always strive for improvement, and your remarks help us focus our attention on making Victoria’s Secret the Best Place to Shop.
Julie, thank you again for your feedback. If there’s anything more we can do for you, please email or call us any time.
    Sincerely,
    Lee B.
    Victoria’s Secret Beauty Customer Relations”
(I only wrote V.S. one other time, in 2013, and three Dream Angels scents – Desire, Divine, and Forever – magically were back in stock for several months. It probably didn’t have much to do with me, but…. fingers crossed that they will listen to the consumers, even if it’s just one tiny voice… lol!)

I just got this today, and I mostly got his because I collect VS perfumes. The bottle is so pretty, but I agree with everyone else, the juice is weak. I really wish they’d stop making watered down perfumes. VS of old seemed to make some perfumes with decent longevity. It came with a free body lotion, so it wasn’t such a bad deal. I sort of wish I’d bought the larger bottle now, due to how often I’ll probably have to re-spray.
They also seem to have just changed the bottle for the original Angel and Angel Gold. Not for the better, I might add. The newer bottles look cheaper. This Dark Angel bottle, however, is gorgeous.

Like it, but really??? They definitely need to make it much stronger!! I sprayed it, but can barely smell it. It’s more like body spray strength..
Anyway, it smells like how I’d imagine mango flavored coffee to smell. I definitely get the mango, and a smooth coffee note. Perhaps layering with the lotion would make it stronger, but I just can’t get over how weak this one is! I’d purchase it if it wasn’t for that..

  34. :

    4 out of 5

I got to smell this today at the local VS store. It’s not too bad, to be honest. I get the coffee note as well; almost a latte vibe about it. I’ll agree that it’s weak, so either layer or plan dousing yourself with it. I thought it would be “darker” as well, but it’s a cozy, winter scent. It says “Cuddle me” instead of “Hey, sex me up!” LOL I will say that if you sample this, step out of the store for a bit so you can actually smell it. There’s so many smells (at least in my local store), that it’s really hard to distinguish notes. I will say that if you’ve smelled Sofia Vergara’s Love, you might like this one as well. While it’s not a dupe, it does share a similar vibe.
VS does have some winners from time to time and this one is nice for the upcoming cooler weather.

  35. :

    4 out of 5

This perfume smells very nice, and I think the caramel scent is what you’ll be left with for the longest after the dry down. This perfume is rather weak, so you will have to spray a lot to get much of an impact from it. It doesn’t last terribly long, either, so it’ll be best to have a rollerball in your purse for reapplication (which is probably a marketing scheme).

I just bought this beauty on Thursday. A nice gourmand, not as dark as I had expected but certainly not a little girl’s perfume. The notes listed on the VS website are a bit more in-depth:
Notes: Almond flower, mango nectar and caramel latte.
I loved that I could truly smell caramel latte in the fragrance. There is definitely a coffee note and it makes this perfume interesting.
Edit: I have to say, this reminds me a bit of YSL Black Opium.
Edit 2.0: I do not have trouble with VS perfume’s lasting. You can’t expect to have longevity if you spray a perfume a couple of times, unless it is TM Angel or one of the other sillage bombs. If you are spraying a bunch and still not smelling it…EVERYONE else is..
