Description

The fashion designer duo Viktor&Rolf launches a new, exclusive and niche-like collection of fragrances called Magic Collection.

Dancing Roses is developed by Sonia Constant as a floral-fruity-oriental fragrance with the focus on rose, along with the accompanying notes of pink pepper, litchi, saffron and cherry brandy.

The bottle design is inspired by pharmacy bottles from the early 20th century. Each fragrance is accompanied by a card with a specific illustration for that specific fragrance. The fragrances are available as 75 ml Eaux de Parfum at the price of $220 USD each. On the market from February 2017.

A nice cherry brandy perfume. Saffron is also dominant in here giving the fragrance quite a bit of spice. I like this scent but indeed it’s very boozy in my opinion and maybe more on the masculine side ? Like a sweet spicy cherry cologne. Or slight resembling of cherry cough syrup which I am not the biggest fan of ,but I do like it however not quite my thing. I have lavender illusion and love that one !

Very youthful, cheerful, and fruity; surprisingly good despite some may think this is not “niche” enough—The opening litchi reminds me of Delina (Parfum de Marley) while the drydown reminds me of the Amaretto accord from Blossom Love (Amouage), all intermingled with your typical commercial pink juice.

I was so excited to get my sample of this, because the name is so whimsical and pretty. I sprayed it, and the very first thought it my head was “bug spray.” So I pulled my sleeve down and waited 10 minutes. Go back for a sniff… literally deet. Rosey deet, maybe. Super disappointing. On the bright side, I can give it to my friend who goes camping a lot.

How me and my friends explain it….its a total nut.
its such a unique and intense sweetness that cant be found in many perfumes, but the spices like saffron and cinnamon that is in it gives it a more mature touch. its super addictive for perfume lovers who are addicted to sweet and fruity perfumes. and it stays on for quite a while.10/10

Viktor & Rolf Liquid Diamonds and Dancing Roses
I realize that Viktor & Rolf’s Magic Collection has problems even at the conceptual level of building the collection. The theme of magic is not uniformly and clearly integrated in all the initial members and this helps to make evident even the problems of integration between the perfumes with each other. There is a lack of an identity that permeates and effectively transforms all members into a collection of fact.
Dancing Roses is another one that honestly has a very poorly constructed concept. What does it have to do to make the rose into a liqueur to make it gravitate and what does it have to do with the name? Curiously, this is one of the strongest perfumes in the collection, a construction that brings a scent of drinks and fruit similar to an ambre narguile but with a spicy touch and a commercial fruity side. The rose is in fact emphasized in its nuances of drinks and is integrated with an abstract, mineral and excellent performance woody base. It is a complex perfume, which always transits between niche and commercial, male and female, and is one of the few that seems to actually deliver, as well as Dirty Trick, a trick from the olfactory point of view.

Such a pretty name, you cn practically hear the strains of a Viennese waltz. The opening note, a clear, liquidly rose, is lovely. The heart is candy sweet and a bit overwhelming. Not bad but nothing different either. Not worth the enormous price of what is just another cotton candy scent.

This is not a rose fragrance! It’s a fragrance with a cherry opening (a very good realistic black sweet cherry compote), over a base of muted Flowerbomb, with the liquor showing up somewhere in the middle, but not overstaying its welcome. At least that’s how it registers to me.

Rose. A line I rarely like to cross (in perfumes, real life roses I adore smelling).
    Come V&R DancIng Roses.
This is the rose that smells like the roses in my grandmother’s yard did. I remember it vividly, being around 5, running around the garden smelling the dahlias (no smell really) and tomato leaves (glorious), the last stop being this very modest looking rose bush. Its flowers were small, deep-ish red colour, with small petals. And they smelled like the best rose you can ever imagine. In the summer, my gramma used to make sour cherryade, from the sour cherry tree in her garden; she would remove the stones from the ripe fruit, boil them with sugar for a long time, and then would take some of the concentrated, thick syrup in a glass, fill it with iced cold water and give it to me as a refreshing summer drink.
Dancing Roses is this memory for me, of the sweet and sour cherry drink with the aroma of the roses in the air.
I need a full bottle in my life.

Tested a sample. The opening top note was a fresh sharp cherry (delightful) followed immediately by classic rose. The cherry faded down and blended into a fruity, rosy, slightly spicy accord that lasted about 6 hours. This is the perfect spring scent. I received many compliments and now want a full bottle!

Dancing roses makes me think of Lancôme Midnight Rose at first, in the juiciness, , it is like a bright juicy rose scent, then it turns more boozy , almost like an alcoholic beverage…I agree with the cherries in liqueur conparison, it has a bit of that..all in all, very interesting, like this isn’t a shy misty rose, this is a voluptuous one, rich, but bright, nothing dark about it….the saffron really permeates the scent, it is a spicy fruity rose, and if you like a non conventional rose, Dancing Rose will appeal to you…it isn’t your everyday scent..there is research and complexity here !! I don’t agree it is a mix and match of Si or Flowerbomb or la vie est belle!
Really impressed with that collection, the scents all have their distinct characteristics…now the price tag might be a tad too high in my opinion.

Wow – this is an intense, bright pink cherry bomb. It’s unlike any other cherry fragrance I’ve smelled (Lolita, LPRN, etc). The opening is incredibly intense with the cherry note – it smells more like maraschino cherries in an ultra sweet cocktail than sour cherries. The pow of candied cherries fades rather quickly and leaves a complex, challenging fragrance. The cherry note remains throughout the (extremely long) life of the fragrance but becomes less sweet and punchy after the dry down. The saffron is very apparent to me – it’s a spicy, unexpected kick in the background. The brandy note is also strong, and delightful. It rounds out the fragrance a little and makes it richer. I do wish they left out the pink pepper, though – it masks the rose and has become a very played out note in modern perfumery. All in all, this fragrance is sophisticated, but very flirty, young and mischievous! There is nothing else that smells like this fragrance, and it doesn’t smell a thing like Flowerbomb.

Received a sample from Saks and Dancing Roses smells like sweeter version of Flowerbomb. The fragrance is pleasant but this is not a niche or exclusive line caliber scent. If you mixed Armani Si, Flowerbomb and La Belle Est Vie, you would get Dancing Roses.
I am not bashing this scent. The scent is a sweet, boozy rose but it is a generic fruity floral that has been done so often that it has become a cliche.
The sillage and projection are moderate meaning someone standing 2 to 3 feet away from you will smell your perfume. This is an unoffensive fragrance that is work appropriate.
Since I have dry skin, the longevity is about 2 hours on my skin. If you have normal to oily skin then the longevity will be longer.
I say buy Dancing Roses because everyone needs a “basic bitch” in their fragrance wardrobe.
