yes, I tried the newer formula and didn’t really like it. The heavy green galbanum, forest loam scent faded into a perfume-y loud mess that got off the paper strip onto the lining of my purse and haunted me for miserable days. I kept apologizing to people about the unfortunate fragrance. It was so loud and intrusive it was embarrassing. I suspect the earlier version was much more magical and interesting.

Magical stuff. It’s not for everyone. I plan on buying a few backup bottles.

The first note on opening the bottle is crushed ivy, with a tree moss scent following it. The crushed ivy is less ‘loud’ after about fifteen minutes, but after four hours I still don’t smell vanilla or wood. In fact, after four hours, this is pretty much gone entirely. I think I’d like to try layering this with something smoky to see what happens, but I dont find it fascinating in the same way as Tobacco Nuit.

Coven is an unconventional, strange and haunting perfume that is influenced by the perfumer’s fascination with the mysterious and the supernatural. Some reviewers have harkened wearing it to taking a walk in a grass-laden cemetery on a rainy Spring day. This description could not be more apt as the perfume starts off with whiffs of galbanum and grassy notes mixed in with soil. As it begins to settle one notices clove, woody notes, a hint of vanilla and mossy notes. Surreal, haunting and yet oddly compelling this avant garde “Chypre Mousse” is a work of art. Unisex, with moderate sillage/projection and extremely long lasting, this is a lovely composition. Enjoy!

This has been reformulated more green and no soil. Wack!

I love these notes and was looking forward to trying this (the black bottle). Not sure if the juice was reformulated, but it smells nothing like the notes above. I mean NOTHING. It smells like a very unattractive mix of 50/50 dark chocolate and bell pepper. I can’t reconcile how these notes could possibly represent the scent. Certainly no forest, dampness, soil or moss here. It’s very vegetal. Big pass for me.

Photorealistic “wet”/green plant life and a tinge of soil, combined with the faintly-sweet and odd smell of much-reused 1970s Easter basket grass. This is interesting and not unpleasant, but it’s also not something I’d actually wear. YMMV, of course.

Hmm. Very confused by this addition to the database. Has the original Coven (also in the database) been reformulated? Because the notes are completely different and that one says it was launched in 2013. However, this bottle is the one featured on Luckyscent’s page, with the notes from the 2013 version.
