I’m a little hesitant to call out specific notes, as I feel it would be a misleading review. Whatever the notes are – the combination gives off an inhumane and unnatural vibe. This is certainly “lighter” than tar – but only in the sense that it isn’t as dark or heavy. The mixture itself has an astringent quality about it. I can’t say that I love the scent, but I certainly love the idea and the reality. This would be perfect for a robot. Also – as of today (may 19th 2017) – the entire synthetic line appears to be on eBay for a decent price.

What an amazing perfume that was!
And what a shame that is has been discontinued.
I was looking for it when it was already nowhere to be found.
In order to be sure that I would be testing the real thing, I remember walking all over Berlin on an unusually warm summer to find it, to no avail.
Finally, I saw a tester bottle on an avant-garde boutique that sold Comme des Garçons items, including a few perfumes. But my joy was short-lived: the tester was all they had. I asked to buy it, the SA denied and I asked for the manager, who was more than happy to sell it for a small price. It was a blind buy.
I bought it, sprayed it on me and went directly to a Vernissage : it couldn’t have been a best match! I had a strong feeling of disassociation, almost as if humanity was being drained off of me and I was turning into an Automaton. To me this perfume is a great experiment of perfumery : relatively common ingredients mixed into an idea of a smell, a plastic, ultimately industrial/urban mix of a imagined future utopia.

The discontinuation of this series is a tragedy to modern perfumery. This is just amazing! Opens up sweet, refreshing, slightly plasticky and almost a little spicy. It stays linear but It just works and I love it. I would never have expected such a lovely, wearable perfume from a concept like this. Lasts all day but about an hour in it’s quiet as a whisper. One of my favorite new discoveries from my beloved CDG. I wish so much that I could find a bottle of all the other cdg synthetics :(. 9/10

Well, this creation is obviously intended as a Demeter-facsimile-type representation of the scent of fake leather. It succeeds! Have you ever stepped inside one of those franchise furniture stores filled with vinyl-covered leather “look-alike” sofas? I believe that one of them is called “Jennifer Convertibles”. In fact, come to think of it: that’s where I bought a couple of sofa-sleepers! One of mine is covered with a pseudo-suede microfiber and the other with a cloth made of something halfway between sisal and burlap. It made a great and expansive scratching post for HRH Emperor Oliver. In fact, I really bought it for him, if the truth be known. (I bought the other one for guests…)
Skai, in contrast, conveys the scent of the fabric-like “stuff” or substance used to make the shiny “leather-like” sofas. It has a sort of semi-gloss gleam and looks like leather from a distance. Sometimes it even feels like leather when touched, but it does not stain and repels rather than absorbing water, even if it has never been treated with some other sort of chemical (usually applied from an aerosol can).
To my nose, leather perfumes often smell half-way between rubber and leather, and in this case that was apparently the intention. Some people seem to enjoy wearing this scent. Perhaps others have declined to comment? Skai also evokes memories of new car interiors, although it is bit harsher to the nose. Think new car interior in which a freshly pressed (brand new) spare tire is sitting in the back seat.
This is really an odor more than a perfume. But hey: some guys like to smell like unshowered mechanics (Dior Fahrenheit), so why not Comme des Garçons Skai?

I recently explored the Blood Concept line and comparisons to certain Comme Des Garcons compositions were inevitable. That’s why while revisiting SKAI, I made my belief stronger that when it comes to the binomial weird/wearable, there’s nothing like CDG.
I’ve to be honest, I’m not able to detect many notes in this composition as SKAI strikes immediatley as one of a kind. PVC (cellophane), lemon, ozonic notes and…incense (of course). Smells of brand new, sort of “just unpacked” with an airy feel given by the ozonic undertones. Incense works as a signature as in most of the CDG’s compositions while a barely sweet “lemon-ish” note on top provides an energizing feel.
The ability of Comme Des Garcons is to turn potentially unappealing chemical elements into very enjoyable/wearable ones. Notes that usually make you think about everything but a body fragrance, turns immediately wearable and “natural”.
If your idea of “clean” resembles the concept of “brand new” instead of “just showered” there’s nothing better than SKAI. Unique and very distinctive.
    Rating: 8/10

One of the great overlooked perfumes, Skai features a striking arsenal of scorched plastic, leather, PVC and synthetic fruit notes. The ‘bottle’ looks like an aerosol can. It’s just not what you expect from a fragrance and has an extraordinary synthetic, odd character… a bit like opening up a new paddling pool from the cardboard box.
Great for experimental, electronic gigs, gallery private views, poetry readings and local Dadaist meetings.
Sadly discontinued as of early 2011 – so snap up a bottle if you see one. Sure to be collectable…

Quite sharp on opening. The citrus and spice are evident and the wood at the base helps to soften these. It’s got an almost candy sweetness too which is quite unexpected.
