It does indeed remind me of Yves Rocher Neonatura Cocoon. Cocoa Woods is a bit brighter, lighter, and sweeter. Both somehow make me feel a bit queasy! Neonatura Cocoon is worse, because I can at least enjoy Cocoa Woods to a certain extent: its drydown is less cocoa-y and more tiare, a note I love. But there must be something in the combination of cocoa with woody notes (sequoia and sandalwood here, patchouli in the YR) that makes me feel a bit ill.
zalman404 – :
I would never have predicted chocolate, wood, and tiare would blend together in something so hypnotic. At first sniff, I thought I have to FB Cocoa Woods. The on the final dry down, it morphed into something detergenty. The roundness of the cocoa and the floaty tiare are still there, but there is an underlying astringent quality. Shame.
Myomi – :
I received a 3ml mini from Sephora. Very dry, dusty cocoa with a lot of woodiness. There is barely any sweetness in it, it is very unisex. Not sweet enough for me on its own, but I’ve discovered this is great for layering. Lots of my gourmandy fragrances go great with a hit of chocolate, and since it’s so dry it doesn’t make them overly sweet.
BretAmeri – :
I’m surprised so many people have had longevity issues with this one. I tested it a couple of hours before bedtime and could still faintly smell it in the morning–so a good 8 hours at least.
I’m also surprised that patchouli isn’t listed in the notes. After the initial blast of cocoa and sandalwood (which is all too fleeting in my opinion), I get a deeper, woodier, patchouli-heavy fragrance that remains quite linear afterwards. The woody-patchouli phase reminded me of a much less potent original formulation of Calvin Klein Euphoria.
If you like deep-ish woody scents this one may be for you. Definitely unisex as there is very little, if any, sweetness in this scent.
Pushkire – :
Very similar to the now discontinued Neonatura Cocoon. Great patchouli and earthy cocoa. Very nice, unisex, for cooler weather.
LelsOneld – :
pleasant and safe. i get cocoa in the beginning. now it’s ginger and sandalwood. glad i picked this as a sample from Sephora. i don’t love it, but i like it. it’s a nice departure from my usual sweet tooth stuff.
иныргетег – :
Sounds great! A Cocoa note I like is in Truth or dare Naked (that name though) by Madonna (that artist though). Where to get Nest Parfums in Berlin?
тумпурум – :
As described. Dry cocoa powder and woods. Pleasant, but doesn’t stick around long. Could be better.
urq286Negeltzex – :
I cashed in some reward points at Sephora and got a sample bottle of this. The name pretty much sums it up. Lots of cocoa powder and woods with some sweet tiare flower. I didn’t detect any ginger but wish I had. This is an interesting fragrance and I like it, but soft sillage and poor longevity will prevent me from buying a full bottle.
Syshko2 – :
I wish the creators of this would’ve put as much effort into the liquid as they did the packaging. Obviously Nest is a company that knows how to manipulate via their beautiful branding. All show and no substance, and that’s too bad because for the first few minutes Cocoa Woods is promising. It delivers exactly that: chocolate wood. But the weak performance means this is worth about $5 as a bath spray product.
snorka – :
Not bad. I like it, but I don’t love it..There’s a note that ruins it for me,I think it’s the Tiare flower.I layer this over Yves Rocher Cocoon. Combining both smells so pretty!
Гоша558 – :
This is good stuff. Unsweetened cocoa with a sharp cedar base. Nice nice baby…
andrewursu – :
I’ll reiterate what most have said – this does what it says. It’s warm, dry cocoa and woods. I have the rollerball, and the longevity is alright. Better than the spray, anyway. I think this will smell better in winter – it’s quite a cozy little scent. I think layering this with a body spray (think Warm Vanilla Sugar) would really make this shine.
Aleksandere567 – :
dry cocoa powder, no sugar added. i really enjoyed this ! i’m not familiar with sequoia as a note, so i can’t quite find it, but the dry cocoa with the creaminess of the sandalwood is a treat. i’m coming to admit i really like some overt gourmands as long as they’re not sugary. agree that lasting power was disappointing, but frankly i think it’s the initial blast that makes it such a pleasure, so i’d be happy with just getting the travel spray and reapplying whenever the urge strikes ! got multiple compliments while testing this one — beware, someone may want to eat you up.
yasmina – :
I am so glad I bought this! The tiare flower is there at first spritz, but fades quickly. Cocoa is the obvious star, though the Sequoia base is very noticeable and charming. (Finally, a woody note outside sandalwood that doesn’t smell like hiking when I wear it!) What I’m so excited about, though, is the ginger. Ginger is one of my favorite scents – and fragrances that list it as a note keep disappointing me with its absence (looking at you, Twilly). But it’s here. I seem to be the first reviewer to rate ginger as a noticeable note, but it’s here, on my skin!
I wonder… have I found a new signature?
alejaleksej – :
Thanks for the caution on longevity, guys. It sounds like my kind of potion but I’m personally so done with delicious liquids that don’t linger. Will definitely try it without the expectation of making a purchase.
Thoubbaxoth – :
My wife glommed onto this one at a local Sephora and said she liked it. Always anxious to please, I got a sample. Yes, it’s dry cocoa powder and some undefined woody notes. It’s not bad – cuddly and likable, in fact – but as other reviewers here state, projection and longevity are tragic. I sprayed it on my shirt and an hour or so later I can barely smell it.
I don’t detect any ginger at all.
Pretty, unique bottle.
mobilnii – :
VERY STRONG woody notes.
The cocoa is there (dry dusty cocoa) but there are loads of sandalwood and woody sequoia that really stand out and stick around.
Unisex all the way.
I like.
Would be nice for winter.
Alpine16 – :
So soft and cozy! I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Often cocoa is marred by patchouli, but in this case it’s all cocoa, woods, and a nice subtle sweetness. It’s not a sugar bomb, but rather a warm, fuzzy sort of sweetness that’s well balanced with the dry cocoa and woody notes. I think this is the best and most unique of the Nest line.
Gomosmoon – :
Goooooorgeous! For 15 minutes.
This is a dry and woody cocoa, exactly as named, and as others have pointed out, not a gourmand, but earthy and dark. It is absolutely delicious, definitely unisex, but fades so quickly that it’s a real shame. I guess you could keep reapplying?
T.A.A.1987.N – :
Smells a little bit like Al Rehab’s Choco Musk to me..Not a dupe, but definitely in the same vein. This is a little softer on me than Choco Musk. Would make a nice coffee shop fragrance. Softer sillage, not great on longevity.
Meevz601intitytek – :
Nest seems to specialize in fragrances with one or two primary notes, and with Cocoa Woods, you get exactly what’s advertised on the label. Now, don’t let Nest trick you into thinking this is a gourmand. The cocoa in this is dry baking cocoa, not sweet and milky hot cocoa or milk chocolate. While this fragrance isn’t for me personally, I think those who like dry, woodsy fragrances will enjoy this offering.
dynamomsk – :
Longevity is ZERO. I tested it at Sephora. Blast of Cacao, and woody notes, ten minutes later, there is nothing. Please, ladies test before you buy. Nest frags are too expensive to have such a poor performance. I am taking this one off of my “Want” list
RafaDragon – :
I was really looking forward to recieving this parfum because there were no citrus notes listed. However once I sprayed the perfume on I was very disappointed- there was barely any cocoa! I waited a bit to see if it would develop into something more but no it stayed the same from the first spray. There is only a very small hint of cocoa and no ginger, I can definitely smell the tiara flower and some sandalwood. It would have been excellent if the cocoa was stronger to compete with the other two dominant notes. I am on the fence about keeping this or returning it since I purchased it for the cocoa scent.
ThomasScribner – :
Smelled like “salty”/spicy plain dark chocolate/cocoa on my skin, not the “milky sweet”, nor “salty caramel” kind. Probably because of the strong ginger note??? And not so much well blended in with wood either. I also got some lightly sweet flowers somewhere in the middle. It is rather an “oddly interesting” scent. It does not wow me enough to buy a bottle, but it is different for sure.
And no, it does not smell like the exotic “Coca Cola/Coke” Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao. I conpared both of them side by side on my skin since I still have a bottle of Jo Malone’s.
transformers – :
Chocolate woods for sure…and underneath is a blanket of light tiare flower and sandlewood…This is an “odd bird”…..and…I am LIKING the oddity !!! Very different IMO. Has some sweet spiciness going on,yup!
And this borders gourmond, but not full-on. I would say it IS unisex for sure. I am very inclined to own this unusual scent. I will say…the sillage and projection are average..but if it were higher..it could of become cloying. I can see some similarities to Pinrose Gilded Fox, but the Gilded Fox smelled way more synthetic/metallac to my nose.
EDIT: Went thru my Sephora sample of this….and….I miss it !!! I will buy a full bottle A-S-A-P !!! Unique…unusual….brilliant.
sasha061975 – :
Its gourmand, warm and lightly gingery at the dry down. Surprisingly Nest performance usually more than 7 hours. I have 4 other Nest fragrances, and this new one Cocoa Woods is the lightest and weak, close to skin. I prayed 20 spray and only lasted 1.5 hour.
The scent is similar as Pinrose Gilded Fox and Jo Malone Blue Agave & Cacao.
Projection: 3/10
Sillage: 3/10
Longevity: 3/10
I like the smell but disappointed with NEST performance on this Cocoa woods.
oljana – :
This is a wonderful fragrance! The cocoa hits you first and it is deep and rich and comforting. That is followed by the woodsy notes that envelope you in a warm and soft embrace like you are wearing an old favorite sweater that makes you feel safe and at home. Then it all settles down together and you get whiffs of each element, sometimes it is sweet, then it feels like you are out in a forest. But it is not heavy, it is light and soft, but definitely something you are aware of. Delicious!
Megnc870Negeltzex – :
It’s about time fragramtica added this! I absolutely love it. It tells you exactly what it is, chocolate and woods. I’m very happy to have this and it will be wonderful for winter
