Description

Marc Jacobs presents a new collection of refreshing colognes of the Splash series, inspired by juicy cocktail drinks. Cocktail Splash Collection, limited to summer 2011, features three fresh tropical fragrances: Curacao, Ginger and Cranberry.

Curacao, signed by perfumer Yann Vasnier, is a refreshing and vibrant watery sweet smell of summer and exotic tropical paradise. It opens with citrus notes of lime and bloos orange. The heart notes of violet, apricot and pear are laid on the base of white musk and moss.

It is available as 300 ml eau de cologne.

It’s been a long time since I had a Curaçao cocktail, so I can’t say whether Marc Jacob’s perfume interpretation smells anything like the real thing, but I’ll buy it! Especially in the opening, it does smell like a delicious summer cocktail, with bright citrus on top and something sweeter underneath. Lovely and refreshing, good enough to eat, and perfectly matched to this particularly hot day in May.
There’s a couple of buts, though. First of all, being a splash, this can only really be enjoyed to the fullest if you’re able to reapply frequently and lavishly. And more importantly, it seems to be discontinued now, and only available at prices that would make every one of those frequent reapplications hurt in my wallet…
So I’ll just enjoy what’s left of my little decant (which at this rate means just a couple days’ more wear), and then say goodbye. I like Curacao a lot, but Limon Verde remains my favourite summer cocktail in a bottle, and that’s just as well given its better availability, longevity and price/quality ratio.

Smells a little similar to Marc Jacobs Rain 2016 (which I did not like as it gave me a bad allergy). There is something in this Curacao that smells like “tea leaf” to my nose and I’m very allergic to tea leaf scent. Back to the seller it went 🙁

First sniff: Smells like someone spilled a tropical drink on me, but in a REALLY good way. As in, want to lick my own wrists. But I won’t. But I will probably need to make myself a tropical drink now…
Middle: Still tropical but getting softer and sexier, violet notes coming out to play.
Hours later: RAWRRRR! Damn I smell sexy!!!
Awesome spring/summer smell. Delicious from start to finish.

one of the very few scents i have in my collection that is unisex. this smells sooo fresh and clean and sometimes i just want a neutral scent that isnt too feminine, but i also dont wana smell like a man. just wana smell fresh and clean. i love this scent

I bought this blindly after seeing it in the sale in Harvey Nichols.
I am a Jacobs fan and considering the size felt it was good value.
I generally wear sweet, floral scents so this isnt my signature style, but I must admit i really do like this scent.
It is quite unisex in its smell as it is very citrussy and fresh, but it is a brilliant holiday perfume and conjures images of cocktails on the beach 🙂

Got a sample of this one so:
It’s a very casual one, a fresh cocktail, a bit too much alcohol maybe?
But it is indeed very fresh and i enjoyed wearing it at a sunny lunchparty,
    after a bath.
if you like it stingy and citrusy fresh you should check it out!
but still, not really my cup of tea.
I’m too much of an ambery/woody/powder/sweetness kind of girl.

I don’t think it’s anything special but on sale for $18, it was worth the money, especially considering the size. At first, it’s a little too much for me. The lime is too intensive and it smells almost like cleaning products. Once it settles on my skin it’s nice. It smells nice but it has no personality

EXACTLY what sherapop said! I can’t add or subtract anything from that; I even purchased it for the same price at the same store.

On days like today, 96F feels like 105F, I’m happy to have an assortment of large economy-sized splashes, including the latest three cocktails entries in the Marc Jacobs line-up. To my nose, CURACAO opens very refreshingly with citrus and what smells rather like vetiver, although oakmoss is listed among the notes and no other woods are named. Anyway, this is a very nice opening, which is great when you want a quick cooling pick-me-up.
That’s basically the only time I wear CURACAO: having just returned from a walk home in oppressive heat, having ripped off all of my clothes and wanting to spray my body with a nice scent before lying down under a ceiling fan. After the opening, there is a sort of cucumberish-violet vibe which I’ve encountered in a couple of other fragrances. One is Tocca AMALFI, and the other is a member of the BBW Fragrant Waters collection (now discontinued, but they came in almost the same jugs as these splashes, so I’m still working through mine (-;).
I’ve worn CURACAO a couple of other times (not as a body spray but as a fragrance) and was not that thrilled with the drydown, which reminded me of the quality of the Salvatore Ferragamo INCANTO flankers. They always end up smelling more or less synthetic to me, depending on the day.
But CURACAO is nice enough for what it is. I purchased a 300ml bottle at TJMAXX for $23, so even if it were no better than a Bath and Body Works body spray, it would still have been a good deal. In fact, it is better than those, I find. CURACAO has the sillage and longevity of a full-fledged edt. I’ll be using this one some more this summer!

When you first spray this your senses are hit with the soft citrus notes of the Lime and Blood Orange, then after a few seconds/minutes you get the Violet ,Apricot, and Pear,In the drydown it becomes very Woody with notes of Musk and Oak Moss , the other notes are their namely the Citrus ones and their’s very slight scent of Violet in the background. This is a very nice fragrance i’d consider more for cold weather and lighter citrus/aquatic fragrances for warm weather! But,I wear whatever type of fragrance I want year round,so the choice is yours what you wanna do!

I am a fan of MJ Splashes, as of yet I have failed to meet one that I did not enjoy in one way or another. That said, although this is a fun and lighthearted scent it doesn’t really evolve past that for me. It is not a long lasting scent but the blast it provides upon spritzing certainly is invigorating. It wakes up my senses and makes me yearn for lying by the pool, it is pure summer. Wouldn’t buy again but I am going to enjoy every last spray of the HUGE bottle.

I found this at T.J Max , it’s fresh and watery at first , very refreshing.
I don’t smell violets or pears though, only lemon and I can’t wait to douse myself after my shower and go to bed. I’m glad it’s not overpowering, cause I change perfume all the time and I don’t want to smell the same one for days.
I prefer this to Pomegranate , which ended up in my laundry room .

I find Curacao a very nice fragrance, suitable for every day and every occasion. Nothing special or unique, but nice and pleasant. The opening is fresh and energising, lime is very present. The scent gets sweeter and softer very quick and stays rather linear from that moment on. Soft/lightly flowery, sweet-fruity and somewhat musky. I like it!
You can spray almost without limits since this fragrance is very hard to overdose. The lastingpower is average and the scent stays very close to the skin.

I had high hopes for this one, but no such luck. It’s the first from the Marc Jacobs Splash range that I can’t really praise. As soon as I sprayed it I got a blast of cucumber, and for anyone who knows it, it smells exactly like Boots Cucumber Face Cleanser. As it fades I get a little bit of the light fruity sweetness of pear and a bit of musk, but that’s it really. The opening kills it for me.

Opens with soft citrusy smells of lime and oranges.not sure how natural they are but as long as they dont cause me to sneeze.I swear even int the top notes I can smell the violets.they do however feature prominently after about 30 minutes and stay for hours even though they fade off eventually.
I dont however smell the other notes listed or maybe I dont really want to.there arent many changes to this fragrance.
I see it as an everyday, every season kind of fragrance that wont offend as it really stays close to the skin no matter the amount you sensibly would want to put on.
Got it at my local Debenhams along with a complementary 30ml atomizer which is handy as I cant see how I can carry this on my when am travelling.I guess the sense is as it doesnt project and cleary wont last all day u can re-apply every now and then-not sure I will carrying it about though.More so I got an enviable calvin klein travelling bag and umbrella to go with it-so all in all not a bad purchase as I was only interested in the bag though. It was the only reason I was going to part with £44 for this as there will be a lot cheaper EDT’s that offer for more for the same notes I guess.
If you are looking for a strong,long-lasting fragrance then this isnt for you.will recommend for those looking for a soft, lighter citrus smell.a good one for outings when you’re not sure of the sensitivities of the company you will be in.I will mostly use this at home as I find it quite refreshing and not obtrusive.
A 300ml will last me for years even though this is a splash and I still a little application will do without overly splashing

I’m not a massive fan of MJ’s fragrances, and the giant splash collection kind of makes me wonder who might be able to use up 300 ml of scents that, although pleasant, remain flat and monotonous.
Marc Jacobs follows the same trail as Demeter and their Happy Hour Collection. So here we have, a massive bottle of a scent inspired by Curacao. BLue in colour, fresh-alcoholic-fruity combo is not intriguing or revolutionary. It just is. Looks pretty, smells all right. Not bad, not good. Maybe it is supposed to be a open swimming pool fragrance, you splash it, you live home, you reapply as you sip your drink (although hopefully you won’t swim after having too many of those). It lingers somewhere in the background.
Curacao is a very casual scent, and maybe that’s why I don’t get it. For me even perfumes I wear daily need to have something special, and Curacao simply lacks it. It’s nice though, just… well, it’s gonna be a one time experience only.
