Smells clean. Very good projection. Fabric softener kind of smell. Would get some compliments for this.

Clean Man. I am a man. I try to stay clean. I won’t smell very clean if I wear a scent that smells like bitter citrus and Vicks Vap-O-Rub.

Came in the mail today from fragrancenet
I was expecting a soapy powdery fruity concoction but it’s quite not so
Take Acqua Di Gio and exchange the citrus for some raspberry lemonade and keep the spicy di gio dry down and you have the opening of clean men.
It gets lighter / airy the more you wear it the fruity notes become more apparent and there’s powdery sea salt note that makes this aquatic which as the reviews say smells like detergent. The powdery note is rather salty to me
I can smell green apple, it has a touch of Be Delicious (green one for women) so I can see why some men can find this feminine but the salty sea breeze accord keeps this balanced
Honestly this doesn’t smell bad at all, it’s a safe, inoffensive shower gel type of smell
Basically what this smell like is a guy who just got out the shower, put on a t-shirt and basketball shorts or anything casual and the scent of what he showered with teases your nose. That is what clean men is like
So I don’t see the hate for this fragrance.

I don’t find it as horrible as many here do, it’s synthetic for sure, great? Nope. Horrid? Nope, it’s OK nothing more nothing less, not something I will buy when I run out…
    4/10 in my books..

Smells synthetic. It smells like baby powder or a lady’s cologne somehow. I didn’t find any masculinity on it. It’s too sweet and fruity. I expected it to be mild, like a clean fabric sort of scent but it’s not. It lasts long though and has a good projection for the first few hours.

Blind bought for next to nothing. Expectations were low but best case scenario I was hoping for something generic simple and pleasant. This is truly horrible. An overpowering Lime note mixed with a terrible laundry musk? I can’t believe anybody could pass this as an acceptable smell. Many reviews comparing to irish spring soap, which I have never smelt but I thought Sung Homme was supposed to smell l like that? This smells nothing like Sung, it’s truly hideous. Double thumbs down.

I have loved this fragrance for years and am fortunate to have recently found a large tester at a great price. Sure it smells synthetic, but I love it nonetheless… reminds me of juicy fruit chewing gum.

In my search for minimalist, clean and aquatic fragrances I’ve finally given this line a try. As usual, I am late to the party, but theres a reason for it.
When I first experienced the Clean line I thought to myself, “what’s the point,” why would anyone wanna smell like laundry detergent or soap.” Rediculas!
But, at the time I lived in a place that had 4 distinct seasons with mild springs & summers and cool, crisp fall & winters. So, I could wear all types of scents, from citrusy to spicey, muskey, incensey and woodsy fragrances.
But right now, I live in a very hot, hummid, suffocating climate and I can’t fathom wearing those things.
So, several years later I decide to try the Clean fragrances and now, I get it! I see why it’s very popular, especially with people who are not into traditional fragrances.
I decided to review this one, “Clean Men,” because it’s the most controversial and also one of the first in the line and saddly the rarest, hardest to find now.
First of all, yes, when it’s initially sprayed, it smells like bathroom cleaner. I know, yuck, right? Well, not so fast! If you wait a bit, an interesting thing happens….it begins to unfold and becomes fresher and fresher and that weird, synthetic, cleanser note goes away.
It begins to get stronger somehow, but still linear, with a very light, sweet-skin undertone and a nice’n’ fresh, soapy-clean, mildly detergeant character.
Of course it’s all very synthetic and linear, but it’s just so, so, well…..Clean. It’s brilliant!
I have recieved more compliments wearing this, then anything I’ve ever worn. How strange? And what’s more is, even after being drenched in sweat, from my morning jog, I still smelled freshly showered. Unbelievable!
I think that the reason this and the entire line works so well, is because we live in an increasingly “Fragraphobic” society, especially in the USA.
We forget sometimes that we are fragaphiles and love these things, but alot of people have negative associations with fragrances and also believe they’re allergic to all fragrances. So they avoid them, or want them to be very light. So minimalist scents have a place and the Clean line is great for it’s intended purpose.
All of them are pretty good and smell like what they’re supposed to mimic, so you can’t go wrong trying any of them. Any one of them will have you smelling good, without appearing to be wearing fragrance at all.
Finally, I would suggest that you do not spray these on your skin, except for maybe, the “Clean Skin,” because they are fairly harsh and synthetic and seem to work best, and last longer, if sprayed on your clothing.
If you’re looking for minimalist scents, for work, school or gym, then check these out.
For me, the Clean Men is the first and best in my collection. If you can find one and at a decent price, you’ll be very lucky.

Smells like Irish Spring in a bottle. Very strong, lasting sillage. Very citrusy and best if you just got off the shower and spray just once. Warning: Overspraying will knock you out.

You all think it smells like Bathroom cleaner? Well… checking this one off the “curious” list. Thanks for the honesty.

I’m a person who likes clean and soapy fragrances but this one is a horrid fragrance.
I’m in agreement with some of the previous posters who say this is like bathroom cleaner.
It smells like a lot of chemicals mixed up and then someone said “let’s try to throw in some lemon and maybe that will make it better” and when it didn’t, they said “screw let, let’s try to sell it anyway”.

A little goes a long way with this fragrance. I like it. It kind of reminds me of… Irish Spring Sport (the bar soap which is now discontinued).

The starting is Fresh, Whole New Feel and Clean. It is the cleanest scent out there… It give you a fresh new towel + good cold shower feel and scent. Very good to refresh yourself in a hot summer day. The scent didn’t evolve much, very linear, from strong to weaker of the same scent (Not too citrusy fresh floral scent).
Too bad, I live in tropical country that sweat a lot, it can only last 2 hours on me. Else I will surely make this part of my collection. 6/10 from me.

Soapy?! What’d you expect…it’s called CLEAN Men!! I really like this one and it smells much better than what the note list first hinted at…I was wondering how all those notes would smell ‘clean’-BUT they do…and very well, I might add!
This does have a detergent or soap like aura overall. However, the opening of blood grapefruit(sweeter and juicier than regular), tart-sweet raspberries, and a very powdery lavender take fruity-floral somewhere it had never been. The citrus is zesty (like an infusion of pure peels & oil) and the berries are creamy and light, and the lavender-MMMM!The heart of the scent is more citrus (bright limes), warm fresh cloves and the camphory sweetness of olibanum (NOT burning frankincense); warmer and more manly than the opening. The ultimate drydown is patchouli leaves (not the heavy oil and surprisingly light, yet earthy) and a powdery white musk. This scent is really more than just a soapy perfume (as you can see); and is warm but also fresh, bright yet soft and very comfortable, indeed.
    Sillage: good
    Longevity: surprising
    Overall: 3.75/5
All reviews are of course subjective; but I find this scent to be a lightly layered composition, as opposed to the staight forward smell of sweet creamy soap found in DSL Pure Soap, and would reccomend it for anything from school/office to a nice casual first date. This blends well with just about any shower gel or deodorant. And, yes: the price is a little high-but it CAN be found on discount sites at a good bargain if you look,(mine: a 4 0z EDT spray-usually 79 US dollars- was only $31.95 on a discount site) and it’s well worth the price IMHO…

CLEAN Man is a very very easy going fragrance. Its sparkling citrusy fresh and super duper clean. It’s actually safe to say that its like a fresh natural-smelling cleaning detergent. This is a type of scent that I wear around the house or when I want something super simple and still smell good.
