    Fragrance -Ciel Pour Femme Amouage
    Bottle from – 2016
Ciel opens on my skin with a fresh, watery and green bouquet of flowers with dominant waterlily, gardenia and cyclamen.
As time goes by,during mid development, waterlily becomes stronger with a nice touch of a slightly sweet and fruity peach blossom and with the tender trace of romantic jasmine.
This all leads into a musky, floral and woody base with a wisper of a bit mysterious frankincense.
This fragrance reminds me of a positive and confident woman.
    Longevity – 7/10(7+hours)
Silage/Projection – 6,5/10(moderate to soft projection and silage for the first 1-2 hours, than sits closer to skin for the duration of the scent’s evolution)
Weather -Best in spring and summer.
    Versatility – 8/10
    Age – 21+
    Compliments – 8/10
    Scent – 7,5/10
    Main notes according to me – waterlily,gardenia,cyclamen, jasmine,violet leaf,musk,peach blossom,sandalwood.
The drydown is musky, floral and woody and I get some – sandalwood, musk, cedar, flowers and frankincense.
    Emotions -confident woman,positive,sensual,timeless, natural.
Occasion -For more or less any ocasion.
Could be a nice signature scent. You’ll get compliments with this one.

    Ciel
Perfect hot weather scent. Its light yet substantial and the similarities to an old favorite of mine…Vintage Eau De Givenchy. If you cant find that gem anymore, Amouage comes in with something close in feel. Im excited to find a gem like this for spring/summer. A beautiful fresh floral.

Ciel is ultimate lotion scent. It starts out creamy, musky and indistinctly floral, it is very round and enveloping. Minutes later it starts getting more flowery. After drying down, Ciel is a warm magnolia and white floral. The overall effect calls to mind the scent of an expensive and luxurious body cream or lotion. I can see how this could be someone’s comfort scent or subtle signature. Nice, just not my thing.

Last summer i entered myve only one niche perfume store in my city(there are many niche perfumes online where i live almost all of them and good price) so I entered took first bottle i saw to test some amouage and went out and couldn’t believe what a great scent
Got a sample of it and i love it, always get compliments
For me it is luxury clean smell
I feel there camomile and on the first spray little bit cardamom (not listed)

Apologies to everyone who loves this but I am very very underwhelmed and even bored. Uninteresting aquatic floral that at least to me has nothing special.
On my skin it turns into a generic bar soap smell from the drugstore pretty fast.
Expected much more from a house like Amouage…
Edit: Dries down to a cheap hairspray smell, ugh 🙁 must be the musk overdose

You’re a butterfly, the white pieris rapae, fluttering on a soft breeze. It’s a cool morning, but the sun is peeking out to warm your delicate wings as you fly between dew-soaked water lilies, violets, and gardenias. Some gentle winds pass through the swaying trees of the woods nearby and over the other waking insects towards you, and as you look up at the blue sky, you haven’t a care in the world. This is such a happy floral fragrance, not too overpowering or cloyingly sweet, which is my main issue with a lot of floral fragrances. The florals are tempered by the ozonic musk. I really enjoyed this one! Adding it to my want/buy list.

Amouage perfumes are very popular where I live and their tester bottles are available in a lot of perfume shops so I’ve tried a lot of them for couple of times but there was always two exception:dia and ciel.these two were always unavailable but finally I found them and SA was kind enough to decant a tiny sample of ciel for me.he asked me which one I want to be decanted I said ciel by mistake!I meant to say dia as I’m into aldehydes and powdery florals but I mistake their names.imagine my sadness when I came home and checked fragrantica
I was sure that I’m going to hate ciel as I dislike aquatic, ozonic scents.I also own reflection which I thought I like at first but then I cane to the point that it’s not for me,it’s too aqauatic and green for me but green scents are more bearable than ozonic ones
I dabbed ciel and waited for violet leaf and calon to showup and make me ill but instead of them there was gardenia, jasmine and musk.I love this combination!there’s no violet leaf ir calon whatsoever.well I can pickup something that must be waterlily, something watery but it’s not bad. It’s a warm, floral watery thing which is actually calming.
I was waiting for an unwelcomed note to showup and ruin all this beauty but instead,a lovely creamy peach blossom showed up
I agree ciel is different from typical amouage perfumes but I’m happy with that.I’m glad to see that amouage can make also non arabic, non heavy and modern perfumes.I couldnt find any option to love among amouages.well I like some of them like honour, memoir and first opus but I become more intrested in this brand after trying sunshine, lilac love and now ciel.I’m also looking forward to try dia and that pink cute new one with it’s promising lovely notes
Lets not go far from subject,I thought lilac love would be my first amouage choice in my wishlist but now I think I’d put ciel first as it would be great for spring and summer and it’s so good that I can’t stop sniffing myself
I’m still waiting for it’s drydown as amouage perfumes arent linear and go through several stages but by far(three hours after application)it’s still lovely and my type.this musky gardenia, jasmine can easily win over me.it’s also very familiar
Ciel is clean, tender, pure, transparent, airy, light, inoffensive and feminine.beautiful and calming like sitting beside a lake, putting your legs in it’s mild water, letting warm spring sun to touch your face and enhaling deeply fresh breeze carrying the scent of flowers and glowing lake and clam, clean nature
I wish it stays as beautiful for long hours so that I can add it to my wishlist(though my pocket has opposit wishes)

I bought some samples of Amouage – what a rush!
ciel to me is absolute luxury. The most elegant, sensuelle and teasing scent I ever felt. Its light – but powerful, its there – and gone, dancing around you. Its like the lightest breeze over your skin – and its like a stormwind to my senses. I can’t stop sniffing my own skin. Beautifully, flowery scent – and after a while I start thinking – Chamomille? -not listed. It is a transparant scent but powerful – I can’t explain what I’m feeling – but sure – I’m head over heels in love. totally in love with Ciel. My wallet screams – I don’t listen -this is a must have-scent.

This has been my signatue scent for years now and it’s interesting how differently the reviews for this seem to come out especially countrywise. Here in the English speaking parts of the world this scent is mostly disliked or people don’t see anything special about it.
In Western Europe and also Asia it is liked or even loved much better because obviously more people prefer soft, subtle scents instead of heavy sweet “in your face”-scents.
How does it smell for me? I smell white fresh flowers, gardenia and a soft light cream note,I smell a light, not too sweet peach and water lily, and in the drydown, there is a soft sweet amber note, pampering, comforting, still accompanied by the soft freshness of withe flowers, especially the gardenia.
So, for my nose this is the perfect scent. I have many other great perfumes in my collection, many of them I like or love, but none can top “Ciel” for me.
It also is the only scent I always (and without fail) get compliments from both, women and man, and many women asked me over the years what the wonderful scent is that I’m wearing.
EDIT: Unfortunately, after the CEO of Amouage in Europe changed and obviously had the idea to take everything that made the Oman-based Amouage scents so special away to instead make them smell more “western” and “modern”, unfortunately they also changed my beloved “Ciel”. The notes are slighty different in the new bottles with silver cap, the scent is somewhat flat and stuffy now, the freshness is gone. Also, the old bottles had a durability of 10+ hours,. The scent in the new bottle is completely gone within 2 hours. The high price tag of over 300$ reamains though but I will not rebuy this newer version as I feel it is ruined. Very sad as it was a uniquely beautiful scent.

One more not Amouage like sense, the second being Reflection. Maybe better try it in summer time, in winter it’s just meh…
Reminds Gucci Envy (discontinued) a lot.

I think this one can be very easy to use.No complexity at all.Nice, pleasant and watery flower dominated on me.Nothing exciting at all.Too plain and a bit heady.I prefer Dia over this.

Ditta70 has a good review below mine. I’m not sure which formulation I have, but it was a carded sample, so not sure if UK or Oman. But, this is rose, lily-aquatic, and what I would think of “lilac” though the essence is supposedly quite hard to distill. But this is a light, summery aquatic scent and the “sky=Ciel” is an appropriate moniker. I don’t find it compelling. It’s not a scrubber, but it’s not my style, nor is it what I think of when I consider “Amouage”–but they have to break out of the rose-oud-amber tradition they have established and this does so with its “sky-like” open airy aspect.
It has good silage and good longevity (the others in the Amouage line are longer-lasting), and this is pleasant. I think this will appeal to “modern” tastes and is “feminine” whatever that means to people, and it has a “clean” sensibility. There is nothing distinguishing about this though. It’s just light and bright, better than many in the genre, and better than many main-stream frags, but not exceptional. To those who like lilac frags, this is more lilac than their recent Amouage release to me, or at least it is complimentary.

Some fragrance addicted acquaintances asked me to test 4 different samples of this perfume and compare them. (There was a doubt of authenticity.)
Now, I must admit, I hated all of them. I found Ciel an exeptionally unpleasant, harsh concoction. Now the info to all the lovers of this scent: out of the 4 samples two were made in Oman, and two in the UK. The Omani versions, though still unpleasant, were way better, with better quality ingredients, more harmoniously put together. They indeed had some nice, creamy gardenia and pleasant cyclamen goodness to them, in the frame of acquatic and woody notes. The UK versions were harsher, the ingredients smelled much more synthetic and cheap, the composition was disharmonious. They were way woodier, and in general reminded me of hairspray or cheap drugstore perfume.
If you like this perfume, definitely try to find a bottle made in Oman and steer clear of the UK made monstrosity.
Otherwise in my book this is 2/10 UK and 3/10 Oman.

Ciel does not ignite anything inside of me. It is an aquatic floral that actually smells a lot more like magnolia than any of the other notes. The scent is sweet with a slightly sharp green floral note. It is all rather vague. I do not detect any incense in the drydown. If Amouage sold this for $95 and called it Eau Florale, I think it would make a lot more sense, but for a perfume that costs three times that, there is much left to be desired. For those who love this perfume, I would suggest trying ElizabethW Magnolia.

Aquatic florals are probably my favourite kind of perfume, and this is the nicest aquatic floral I’ve ever tried. It’s also my first Amouage. Only problem is, now I really want a full bottle and at Amouage prices, I can keep dreaming!
This is unashamedly feminine and beautifully ethereal. It really suits its name (Ciel means sky).
The opening is quite green, thanks to the violet leaf, but it never gets tangy, the way many green perfumes can. There’s nothing sharp about this, it’s all soft curves and fluffy clouds.
I’m sure I detect lotus, although it’s not listed here. The water lily and cyclamen are especially prominent – I wish so much that more perfumes would use those notes because they’re beautiful.
There’s a hint of sweetness (mostly due to the violet), but it’s very subtle and never becomes a full on sweet perfume.
The base notes sound like they’d clash with the top and heart notes, but they actually work very well with it. They add a warmth, but never overpower the pretty florals. This becomes a little musky in the dry down, but its fairly linear apart from that.
This one is dreamy days flying a kite through a peaceful meadow, stopping by a crystalline lake to dip your toes in. I love it.
    Moderate sillage, 8-10 hours longevity.

Light fragrance, but overpowered by VIOLET! Lasted a long time, but always smelled like VIOLET! For someone either very young, who wants a light, sweet, uncomplicated fragrance, or someone older, who wants to remember getting bouquets of violets from her admirers.

I don’t find this very airy, very musky and a light pleasant smell! the price is a bit spicy, probably you could find a cheaper alternative, but the Amouage bottles are a must for all the collectors 🙂

    I need Ciel.
Not just for the heartbreakingly beautiful water lily, musk combination….and believe me, it is unmatched. Not just because the longevity is phenomenal on my skin….it is both subtle and tenacious. If those were the only reasons, they would be enough.
Those are not the only reasons.
I need Ciel because it is ultra feminine against my skin, especially on days when I have had to be anything but.
I need it to remind myself complexity can be found in what appears simple on the surface.
I need it for the same indefinable reason I seem to need blush inspiring lingerie, silly little dresses, high strappy sandals….
I need it because it makes me feel soooo damned pretty! 🙂

A soft gentle white floral with green notes. Subtle calming very gentle and pretty. I adore the hand lotion and hand & body cream. I find ceil cream and lotion is easy to blend with and parfum

  23. :

    5 out of 5

Ciel is soft, pleasant, generic water flowers perfume, where lacks the wonderful “extra” that would justify the “extra” that we actually see in price.

  24. :

    4 out of 5

There is no scent that could be compared to Amouage perfumes. They are an unusual mix of selected notes. Ciel smells like a warm ray of sunshine on a spring day. A modern-discrete Jusmin notes warmed by gardenia and then cooled by water lily. It ‘s absolutely feminine, but fresh and clean. Base notes reveal it very sexy.. I just love it !

  25. :

    5 out of 5

Starts as a brisk blast of insect repellant. Then moves to a scent reminiscent of a certain type of hotel soap or as someone else said, a long forgotten less expensive scent. At the back a muguet odor that is quite pleasant. Preferable to Gold for certain.

  26. :

    5 out of 5

Most of all I feel the water lily notes, cyclamen, violet leaves, musk and sandalwood notes. Nearly the same type like Dia. Simple and characterless, especially for its price. Dislike(

  27. :

Nice and safe ‘watery’ (but not watered down) floral perfume, with very realistic (i.e. non synthetic at all!) notes. I can see a floral person being happy to pay top $$ for Ciel, but for my oriental-loving nose my money will be spent on something heavier. Would work very well as a bridal perfume.
Thank you MrsLetterO for the generous sample!

Save your money nothing special. Just likeable.

  29. :

    3 out of 5

This s such a well blended fragrance. Starts off bright with jasmine and violet leaves, then dies down quite fast to a soft powderiness. The gardenia peeks through and then everything lies close to the skin with a warm muskiness. It reminds me a little of Talco Delicato but this is much softer. As it stays close to the skin, I can see this as an all purpose fragrance. It can be worn anywhere without offending anyone. Feminine and soft, scent of an angel (well said, rickyrebarco).

  30. :

    3 out of 5

Soft floral with prominant gardenia, but definitely well-balanced together with the jasmine, water-lilly and other flowers. Soft and elegant floral for day wear. Very feminine, but not my cup of tea.

  31. :

    3 out of 5

Finally an Amouage to love! This scent is simply glorious, it would make angels sing glorias. In fact I think angels would wear it. This is a watery white floral but in the very best sense, using flowers that live in or near the water like the water lily. This is the first fragrance using gardenia that I have ever smelled where the gardenia does not dominate but is perfectly blended.
This is an amazing scent and I agree with the first reviewer that it is composed in the Middle Eastern fashion with the florals balanced by musk, sandalwood and amber with a bit of spice. This fragrance is just sheer perfection to me, glorious, exalting.
If you really spend some time with this one you will recognize the differences from Western white florals, which do not normally use cyclamen and water lily. Those 2 scents are just different enough to make the whole perfume feel unique and sing its own beautiful melody. If there is a heaven I feel sure this is what it will smell like.

  32. :

    5 out of 5

One of my watery scents. Smells of seashores or of bogs. The scent of rot, sun, dampness and joy of life, in its wonderful frenzy, and the joy of being warm through and through thanks to that sun. The food chain it is: someone dies, someone’s about to get eaten, and life does not stop, even for a sec. I like it, but can’t really say that I’m in love with it.

  33. :

    4 out of 5

I absolutely adore this fragrance!Gardenia makes a “grande” entrance and what an adorable smell! I can detect also the jasmin, not much of the rose, but is just beautiful fragrance! One of my favourite parfums!
Also it lasts very long on my skin! I am tottaly in love!

  34. :

  35. :

Sadly, this one did not work on me 🙁 I got loads and loads and loads of gardenia and virtually nothing else – must be my skin chemistry!
Gave it away to someone else who is very, very, happy with it….!!!

I have to admit that upon spritzing on Amouage CIEL POUR FEMME, I was deeply unimpressed but at the same time surprised. I had simply presumed that with a name like “sky” this would open with a bright burst of aldehydes along the lines of DIA. Not so.
CIEL is a low-key perfume with low-sillage florals which almost seem to be dessicated, as there’s a texture here of dried grass or hay. Somehow, though, I like the mix. I believe that I detect an amalgamation of dried water lily, lotus, and cyclamen, but not much else asserts itself. There is not a huge amount of development, but as I continue to sniff this composition and grow more accustomed to it I must say that it starts to hold a sort of appeal. Unfortunately it also reminds me of some long forgotten perfume (at a much lower price point…), so I cannot say that CIEL is in any sense new or exceptional.
Nice enough to wear and likely to be inoffensive to anyone in the vicinity.
update: I remembered what this reminds me a bit of: EAU BELLE D’AZZARO…

“Ciel” in french means “sky”.if you look at the bottle and you know just a bit about middle east culture you know that it’s made by middle east perfumers.
the flacon is like a mosque and the color of blue is the color of spritual in eastern culture.it doesn’t look at earth.the top of flacon is to the sky.
the interesting point to me is that it’s suitable for every day use which means every female can keep the spritual side of herself in every occasions.
about the notes,it’s all about flowers.violet leaf has made it a bit green at the first sniff.not overwhelming or powdery at all(despite amouage gold & dia),very transparent, feminine, sweet, luxury and nice.the fresh floral scents make it a good choice for srping.there are some aquatic notes which must be because of lotus.
despite the top & middle notes there isn’t any trace of flowers in the base notes.amber & musk are known as fragrances in orient for years.so the perfumer has followed the ancient formulas.
the price is a bit high, but me as a middle-eastern girl like to have it,as it satisfies my taste.
