I really wanted to like this because it has amazing reviews, but it’s just not gourmand or sweet enough for me. At first spray it dries down to almost a melted milk chocolate scent that is quite yummy, but as the scent finishes developing I can smell the rum/boozy note. It throws the chocolate scent off and turns it into something bitter. Bummer.

According to my nose and coworkers, it smells like a sweet pumpkin spice creme with milk chocolate fluffy marshmallows on top. I don’t get a typical deep chocolate gourmand scent from this, which is fine. I’m glad that it’s a medley of other notes which makes it perfect for this time of year. Its very cozy and comforting.

I’ve tested twice now and here are my findings.
    1. I think this is primarily as Mexican Hot Chocolate scent. That is the vibe I get from it. Definitely chocolate, but a spicy, dry sort of chocolate.
    2. The dusty vibe is what makes me think of marshmallow. A real marshmallow is sort of soft and dusty as you pop it in your mouth. That quality exists here. If you consider that hot cocoa is often enhanced by marshmallow, you can see where the perfumer might have been heading.
    3. This fragrance has a certain something which most homegrown perfumes seem to have. I’ve yet to identify it, but I only find it in small perfumeries that seem to do something more akin to perfume oils than a traditional perfumers fragrance. It ends up smelling of wet socks on my skin and that is the case here, always the underlying socks. Therefore, yesterday, I sprayed it only on my blouse before wearing, not on my skin at all, thinking it was just my skin which picks this up. Sadly, my clothing also grabbed the wet sock note. (is this perhaps a difference between a trained perfumer and doing what you can from books??) I get it from Alkemia, Pith Chocolate Crave and quite a few others as well. And now, Haught.
    4. I think this would benefit by adding some sweetened vanilla, at least so it’d become more gourmand friendly. I think I will try layering it to see if that would work better. The second day on fabric is quite lovely and the wet sock smell seems to have dissipated. I’m interested to see if a good layering with a vanilla will arrest the problem.
Overall, I like the scent. If I could eliminate (isolate) the wet sock vibe, I think I’d really like it a lot. It’s got good bones and the longevity for me has been a full days wear. It wears close to the skin but wafts nicely.

Mine arrived yesterday in a lovely box packed with extra sample decants of other scents.
On me this is a fairly dry powdery chocolate, a little musky. I might not even call it gourmand, it’s very, very wearable. Not too sweet, heavy on the powdered cacao. There is dry creamy chocolate as well, and definitely booze backing it up. I wouldn’t have said rum, I would have called it a peaty, earthy Scotch. There is an earthiness to this scent that to me keeps it just this side of gourmand.
Wore it yesterday for a few hours in the evening and it was a subtle scent almost at the subconscious level even as I drifted off to sleep. Wearing it properly today and the scent is just as rich and nuanced. I’ll report back on longevity when I’ve had a chance but honestly it lasted easily through the evening yesterday which makes me say this is a great buy even for just a nice dusky/sexy date fragrance.

    Love this!
Chocolate Wasted is sweet, boozy chocolate enveloped in a strong ambery base.
Reminds me (a LOT) of En Voyage Cafe Caco.
I will edit this review w more info…

This is so good! It’s a chocolate paradise. It’s not the bitter chocolate on me but full on creamy chocolate with hints of coffee and caramelized sugar. The rum is detectable by the dry down. It is just the right sweetness, not tooth-achingly sweet. I love it! I am so looking forward to the new release in September which will be reformulated to amp up the chocolate. I just used one spray on my wrist and it’s enough to send me to choco heaven.
