(Note: I use Body Time’s version of China Musk. I don’t see it here on Fragrantica but it happens to be the same formulation as Terra Nova’s, so I’ll review it here.)
In order to understand where China Musk is coming from, you must first experience China Rain, which is the superior fragrance. China Rain is a sharp, magical, musky floral that is stunningly clean and pure. China Musk is basically China Rain with one modification: the vanilla element. In my opinion the vanilla drags the scent down from its “brilliant” pedestal to a “pretty good” plateau. It gives it unneeded weight and makes it a bit cloying.
Oh it’s still wonderful. It simply doesn’t knock it sqarely out of the park like China Rain. But like China Rain it’s a very high quality product. The longevity and throw can’t be beat.

To me this musk starts sweet and tangy, citrus-like then rounds out with hints of spice. Overall, it does smell of Tova without the Lavender. It is a simple fragrance.

Light but nice

Very soapy long lasting perfume oil. Was too harsh for me and blocked my nose so I gave it away.
It’s plain soapy scent.
