I blind bought this after reading the positive reviews on this site, and what a great buy this turned out to be. Charlie Gold may be the ultimate cheapie but it smells big bucks fantastic!
Deliciously sweet and spicy floral notes open big and dry down to melt into the skin. I’ve had expensive perfumes that don’t smell half as good as CG. This is a well blended fragrance, but it’s not sugary. The amber and florals support the sweetness.
I’ve not had luck with several other Charlie frags and ended up giving them away, Gold will stay in my collection however!

Perfume that recalls the fresh and the clean. It looks like the classic soap. However it has nothing in particular. Without personality and if a perfume has no personality it can not be defined as such. My judgment is negative.

I would love to wear Vintage Feminite du bois or Paloma Tentations every day but since they are discontinued and cost a fortune being so rare I can put them aside for special occasions and wear this delightful $10 bargain scent everyday. The carnation, cinnamon, sandalwood and cloves and plum notes make this similar in alot of ways to these scents. Also reminiscent of vintage Tresor with sweet apricot-peach before the reformulation which I now despise so that is also great. This is the only caramel containing scent I can wear as I don’t like foody sweet sceny but in this slightly old fashioned blend it is just perfect. Gorgeous juice and sadly overlooked as the box and branding probably seem dated to modern consumers but their loss.

There’s too much of something fruity in the mix, for me. I tried it on because attracted to the woody vanilla-ey sweet first whiff of residual bass notes. Smells much better with the rubbery leaf litter notes from my Goretex jacket from last time it went camping, since I got a little chilly.

Charlie Gold is really lovely! It has echoes of some of my personal favorites: the warm peachy plum of Rochas Femme, but Charlie Gold is softer and more easy wearing; the peach note of Guerlain’s Mitsouko, but much less austere oakmoss and vetiver; and the cinnamon peachy rosiness of Elizabeth Taylor’s Diamonds and Rubies, but with more caramel and fewer flowers. I love this cinnamon, caramel, peachy, plummy, clove, and cedar scent!

I’m surprised! This scent is just delicious. I enjoy the cinnamon and warm, sweet fruit notes. This would be a wonderful, casual scent during fall. It’s not deep enough to wear at night time in my opinion but it wouldn’t be wrong either! It’s versitile.

What a magical fragrance of golden delicious juice!!!…. I find it odd some people complain that the bottle is ugly. It’s not ugly it’s just simple. I bought this EDT clear bottle off of eBay for less than $5. It’s a very warm ambery smell. Very impressive for perfume so inexpensive. To be honest I really don’t like the smell of cinnamon so I was thinking that I would not like the smell but I absolutely adore it because it doesn’t smell like cinnamon on me. It smells beautiful flowery freesia but sweet. Chloe Narcisse, Treasure, and Ellen Tracy comes to mind immediately! The initial blast is a little strong but the dried down is absolutely phenomenal. It smells so fresh and classy. It’s a very refined scent for very mature women. It’s very powdery and I get the notes of plum, apricots and peaches. It smells so nice. Right now I cannot afford really expensive perfumes. But it’s okay because these types of old school fragrances are classic. The newer fragrances try to emulate the older fragrances. They just package the fragrances for a lot more money and put them in a prettier bottle than Charlie does. This fragrance does not smell synthetic on me at all because its not synthetic its made from REAL PRECIOUS OILS. I’m really happy with this purchase the bottle is huge. I absolutely love it. It has a nice sillage and it lasts a very long time on my skin. Try it I think you’ll like it. Update- the longevity of this perfume is unreal. I put it on at 9 am and it’s now 8 pm and I can still smell it. It now smells more like vanilla or carmels. My friend said it smells soft and beautiful. What a gem!
Another update- I had just sprayed this on me and when I got into the elevator an older gentleman said ” WOW YOU SMELL GREAT”. When I told him is was one of the Charlie perfumes he said it was one of the best he smelled!
Another update 08-26-18- I wore this to work today and a co-worker said I smell like cotton candy!

This is such an underrated beauty. Thank you to those who mentioned that it is almost a dupe for Christian Dior’s Dolce Vita. You were right and you have saved me over $100 in purchasing Charlie Gold instead of another bottle of Dolce Vita. The cinnamon, sandalwood, apricot and peach notes are in both fragrances, with the cinnamon dominating. I actually prefer Charlie Gold. Who woulda thunk it.

[not so much a review this, more an accidental discovery]
On a whim I bought Charlie Gold (for all of £9 mind you!) thinking it’s quite pleasant – especially at that price. And, in a further flight of fancy, layered it with TF London (which goes for hundreds & hundreds now, but fortunately I got myself a 250ml at duty free back in the day!) at a 2:1 ratio… in hot, humid summer weather… crazy, right?!
(Surely this is going to be even better in the winter but)…
8 hours later and i’m getting an unmistakable, albeit distant, vintage COCO EDP vibe! Perhaps it’s not so hard to believe – looking at the notes – but in no way what I expected.
As I’ve one precious bottle of original COCO EDP which I reserve for special occasions, I know what I’ll be doing now when I want an impression of COCO any day of the year! What an unexpected delight! Happy experimenting to all!

My mother worn this for the duration of one full bottle. I love this on her. Not saying that it’s old or anything.
It’s linear yes but a fragrance with depth.
Warm and alluring. I detect the caramel and cinnamon the most indeed, but it starts fresh with the apricot.
    Longevity 3-4 hours. Pretty decent.
I’m gonna buy her another bottle.
    Suitable for mature woman.

On me the initial spray opened EXACTLY like Elizabeth Ardens True Love – very sweet, powdery roses.
Within minutes though it became Chloe Narcisse without the spiciness.
A beautiful, cheap and extremely strong perfume.
For me this is not a snuggle up on the couch fragrance, this is something you’d wear if you wanted people to smell you from afar. Office perhaps?
I do not like Chloe Narcisse but have an appreciation for it, I do however really like this. It’s elegant and smells expensive.
Unfortunately for me this perfume has given me a splitting headache so it’s definitely not on my purchase list.

I blind-bought Charlie Gold and this clearly is a pleasant suprise, a nice warm, fruity, and ambery scent. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t like it since I’m not a fan of caramel, amber, nor apricot, but somehow the combination of all notes together works out especially well. A smooth and cozy everyday fragrance for an amazingly low price.

OMG this is almost a dupe for Dior Dolce Vita – just testing them both – each on a wrist and cannot tell the difference!! Im gonna save a lot of money now…!!!! 😀

Since I got this couple of months ago, I’ve reach for it more often than any other scent I own. I just love it so much!
Spicy, fruity, rosy, delicious caramel! Round and soft, yes, like many have mentioned. The only problem is I have to bath in it to get a little sillage, since the Eau fraiche version is rather week. It does last a while, but turns to a faint skin scent. I hope the Edt I ordered will be a little more potent. (it was but you still need quite a few sprays, at least I do)

Very round, soft, delicious perfume. It starts slightly synthetic, but in seconds it is smooth and produces a soothing sweetness. I put it off and went to make a cake. My friend came in and said – here smells great and you smell awesome. 🙂 Despite the extremely low price, this perfume holds level and is nice.

Charlie Gold. We`re good friends you and I.
First of all, you`re a big bottle of spices, amber and vanilla (yes, vanilla on me, not caramel really..) Then, you`re quite cheap, but surprisingly long-lasting! Your drydown isn`t synthetic, watered-down or bland and you remain close to my skin for a good 4-5 hours. You are called `Gold`, which is a precious commodity anywhere in the world.
You were the perfume that drove the love of my life crazy. He`s probably sniffing it in shops still..
Thank you for all the above.

I was certain I would hate this scent but I bought it blind since it was so inexpensive. Surprisingly, after the drydown (which is NOT good on me) It is a wonderful scent that works well on me. I was SHOCKED. I did make sure to spay this on my stomach area since I was wearing to work… and I got beautiful whiffs of the scent all day. Lots of cinnamon so works well in very cold weather. I would never wear this in the summer.

  22. :

    4 out of 5

I blind bought this in summer, and I hated it. The smell was too intense, and obviously, too warm. But now, when we’re approaching the winter days, I fall in love with it more and more every time I put in on. Very very potent though, one spritz is all you need, even that one can sometimes overwhelm me if I’m not ready for it. I’m almost waiting for the temperature to drop till like -15 Celsius so I could feel the perfume’s full potential.

  23. :

Tempted to blind buy this… I remember I got this as a gift when I was young, but I didn’t really wear perfume then and can’t remember how it was. I see few people here finding similarities to Chopards Casmir, which I own but has some notes in it that I dislike. I also can’t detect that much cinnamon in Casmir, which is a shame. So maybe this cheapie would be something a little similar in style but better?!
Edit: I just had to go and order it and I’m wearing it right now 🙂 I think it was a wise decision to pick the Eau Fraiche version instead of the Edt. Since the bottle is big, I am now able to spray more liberately and use it before it goes off 🙂 Of course, it’s not that long lasting or strong in this concentration, but not poor either.
I even tried layering this with Chopard Wish, which has caramel in it too, and CG emphazises the note nicely and brings warmth.
I like this very much! Warm, cinnamoncy caramel, rose and fruity sweetness… Very suitable for the upcoming Christmas!

I tried this on in a fragrance boutique, but my nose was so overwhelmed there by all the spritzes, it wss hard to tell what this was really like. I almost didn’t get it, but the price was so good, I couldn’t say no.
And am I glad I got it.
Lovely! Warm, round, soft, feminine. I thought it might be daytime only, but no, its good for night too.
    Will be enjoying this bottle.
I get a lot of peach, apricot, just as in Tresor. But unlike Tresor, thete is a light spicy undertone.
No sweetness, at least not on me.
I love it! a keeper! esp at this price!!! just under $10!!!!

I snagged a test spray of this last summer in Europe and never could get it off of my mind. I finally ordered a bottle for $10 off of Amazon which I jokingly love to refer to as “ten buck Chuck”. 🙂
It is a warm floriental and evokes the very color of the juice…GOLD. I FEEL this scent almost as much as I smell it. It is like a warm hug, a steaming mug of hot apple cider, your favorite cashmere sweater, caramel candies, the smell of fallen leaves and a crackling fire all wrapped in to a bottle.
I love the amber, cinnamon, clove and florals, and they blend well with the stone fruit notes.
It’s basically October in a bottle.
The fragrance is strong, but not Obsession or Youth Dew strong, and it stays within an arms reach of my skin, adding to the coziness factor since people must come closer to your person in order to smell it.
I will be using this with some of my other vanilla based scents as I am really trying to learn layering techniques.
If you like: Spark by Liz Claiborne, you may enjoy this.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review. xo

Affordable, rich warm floral perfume, not very long lasting, lasts about 5 hours, but its a good perfume. Good for everyday use, wouldn’t recommend it for special occasions.

In my kindergarten in the mid nineties, we had wooden make up vanity desk with all sorts of empty perfume bottles used for playing. This scent reflects my memory on that time. What I enjoy the most are the first fifteen minutes after spraying consisting of musky blast sandalwood, orange and amber. This oriental opening is changing fast into flowery notes of peach, jasmine and rose. In traces I sense really just a bit of caramel and cinnamon. Cloves appear together with more powdery rose toward the end, and I believe this makes it typical nineties recognizable “cheapy”. It lasts around hour and a half on my skin which I don’t mind because it becomes enough powdery and it is then close to skin. All in all, I am excited to wear it in cold melancholy autumn.

Just got a 100ml today for $9.99, as I was running out of the Drugstore. So far, its a bit too much….
I tried 1 spritz and its up my nose a scent I dont quite fancy, not dislike.
In the same strong range as Chloe Narcisse which I like if its just 1 spirtz.
Next cheap thrill will be Tabu.

That really has amazing sillage and longevity: one small spray and that’s it for 12 hours no other perfume could compete with Charlie Gold (I sprayed just to remember the scent, as the day was hot I wanted a fresher perfume but not even I’Adore could compete with Charlie Gold).Cloves, cinnamon and caramel with a little amber are the main notes on me.

  32. :

    4 out of 5

I had to try this because it was only £6 and the notes and the reviews looked promising. The first blast was lovely, similar to Diamonds and Rubies, but with a quieter peach and some caramel. There was a brief moment it turned like fudge flavour furniture polish but it got sweeter again and the chemical scent disappeared.. but I’m not wowed. If I want caramel I may have to get Juicy Gold after all.
All of you writing essays on this stuff extoling it’s virtues seem very easily pleased..
The husband likes it 😀 It’s just become mild sweetness, like Vera Wang Princess end of drydown.
But tbh overall, for £6 this is actually great. I might try the blue one next.

Just got this as a blind online buy. And on first soray, I didn’t like it. The mild orange was not what i was expecting when I read oriental floral fragrance. Then it was so light. A few mins later, it turned powdery andfresh smelling. And spices of all kinds, like cloves, cinnamons maybe. Then finally there it comes the part I love. The spicy, musky, caramel, dry down. It gave me a whiff of Revlon fire and ice deo I used years back and for that, I will keep this. Coz it is simply sexy.

Once more I have to put my thumbs up for this gem.
Today I’ve used my Charlie to go out for just over an hour. Once I back home, to my apartment, minutes after I arrived my hubby arrived in the lobby. When he opened the door of our apartment the first thing he told me was ” I knew it that you just arrived at home because soon I opened the downstairs lobby door I noticed your nice perfume “.
This is a Charlie EDT! And based alcooh fragances doesn’t left trails after you’ve sprayed for over a hour ago ( at least is what I believed).
That’s means one thing… this one is even better than I thought ( super staying power, super silage!).

Charlie Gold Eau Fraiche Spray Glass Bottle
This is a popular and beloved drugstore cheapie. If for some reason the original Charlie, the epitome of a green floral, is not for you, Gold is a more engaging scent of gourmand notes & spices. This was such a nice perfume when I first smelled it. I wore it off and on in the 90’s, usually at tea parties with my Charleston society club. There is something of a modern “gourmand” in it while resembling Guerlain Mitsouko. This was always issued as an eau fraiche or eau de toilette so the concentration was not as strong as regular perfume. I always received compliments on it. A mature but delectable and even sexy fragrance, Charlie Gold seems to have something for everyone.
Within this amber liquid, a wafting fragrance of fruited caramel, clove, violet, cedar wood and cinnamon. For me this is a delicious scent of caramelized amber and cinnamon spice. These two notes are the strongest, so if you’re really into caramel and cinnamon, this is almost like smelling pure caramel and cinnamon over a fruit cake. The fruit notes are also quite pronounced: an orange plum and peach as well as an apricot. The apricot an peach becomes boozy, like peach liqueur. While fruity it’s dark fruit, alcoholic fruit, not tropical fruit. While I can still wear this as a day wear perfume, it doubles as an evening cologne. Very flexible, casual, perhaps a bit linear, not long lasting, but very nice.
For a Charlie, it lacks multiple flowers. I could detect a violet, a distinct violet, heady, sweet and a floral note that I’ve always enjoyed. The violet hits high notes and drowns out the rose, jasmine and freesia. For the lie of me I can’t find the rose although the jasmine is faintly detectable. The reason for the shy florals must owe to the fact that this is more about the fruit & spices, especially that caramel which dries down to an amber & musk. A woodsy cedar note is in there too, which I find very pleasant. There might also be a vanilla note. Vanilla & cedar go so well together I don’t know if anyone’s noticed. I think this is a bit of a gourmand Oriental, the Charlie version of Casmir by Chopard only with lower volume. It can also pass as a unisex fragrance so guys can sport this too. It’s neither too masculine nor too feminine. It has ingredients found in both women and men’s fragrances: cedar, musk, spices, amber, fruit & floral notes.
As you can see from all the reviews, this is a perfume worth looking into. This is my favorite Charlie but I have worn the original in the 70’s. I can’t tell you how much both fragrances affect me. But this scent is always going to take me back to the 90’s when I was active among the community of citizens of Charleston before my move to Mount Pleasant. If I had to pick out a season to wear this, I would say that it’s definitely the winter time. While not smoky, it dries down to a warm musk, and the cinnamon, cloves, spices are stronger than the fruit which make it more spicy and appropriate for the colder months of the year. It has a sort of Christmas fruit cake type of vibe.
    Delicious!

I bought this perfume based on a review that it smelled similar to Channel Allure. Unfortunately it wasn’t like it. It was more rough around the edges, and I couldn’t seem to shake of this strange sharp note, that kept going right up my nose. lol
I ended up using this as air freshner, because I never just toss my perfumes.
Anyway, It didn’t lasts on my skin, but on clothes around 2 hours or so. not much sillage, and projected not too well either.
I wouldn’t say I hate this perfume, It was just not so suited to my skin chemistry, as I would have liked.

I bought this perfume having great hopes after reading the reviews. While it’s not offensive, I cannot shake the idea that it smells like face cream. There is no cinnamon, warm spice on me, just this smell of night care. I believe personal care products must eradicate perfumes from them all so we can actually enjoy perfumes without prejudice.

Amber with spices, and hints of caramel and peach sweets. It’s not a warm scent per se, but is pretty old school without being aldehydic or grandma. However, I cannot stand the dry down; it seems fake and plastic-y, which is what put me off this one, so I’ve given it to my mum who it works on much better!

just got the Charlie Gold delivered as a blind buy after reading reviews on fragrantica and I’m pleasantly surprised! My first reaction was that it smells similar to Caesar’s Woman but has far less tangerine. After wearing the juice for about a half hour, it has transitioned to a very spicy, honeyed and musky elixir. Definitely exotic, suppose it can be deemed what they call an Oriental? But I’m thinking more like something you might pick up at a bazaar in some small lane in south central Asia, as I can smell attar / incense. I Love it!

What can I say about this one that hasn’t already been said? It’s so warm and wonderful. Cosy. It’s absolutely perfect for the cool Canadian Falls and Winters. I love it. This one is my signature! I got 2 bottles and planning to get even another one sometime soon as I don’t know if they will carry on sell where I live. Everyone compliment me and ask about when I wear Charlie Gold! When I tell them they got surprised as is not a perfume and is very cheap! I bought a eau de toilet and an eau de frâiche. This stuff lasts all day! Impregnates my clothes even after I wash them! I don’t mind as I love it so much! Just avoid spray on your clothes unless when you wear black as left stain in the clothes. Not that I never done that but happened once when I was getting ready in a rush. This smell so vintage like ( as I am a vintage lover). So sweet, powdering, cinnamon, warm smell. I recommend only wear on the night and during the cold months.

Crap. This should be a perfect cheap perfume for me. I love every note, except one.
And that one kills it. The damn clove takes over and it’s all I smell. Nothing else. This is something my skin does, amps up clove. So sadly this doesn’t work for me at all, no sweet, no floral, no fruit, no cinnamon. Just clove.

A nostalgic scent which gives a pleasant, warm feeling. I realIy liked it.I am planning to use it some time. It’s bit heavy though. I wouldn’t prefer to use it in the office. The longevity is very good compared to the price.

I wore this in the 90s. Forgot about it till recently. How fun is this one..it has a little something for everyone.
At first spray, the orange, apricot freesia jumps out at you..then the peachy plums ..more jasmine..a little bit of spice adds interest, the notes take turns dancing around. Caramel and sandalwood rise up to a gourmand scent. Cozy…think Tresor with caramel..boozy, rich cinnamon, Dolce Vita…
What a lot of bang for your buck with this one..but make sure you like the peach accord everyone was working in the 90s…related peach apricot orientals include: Tresor (fruity jasmine peach apricot), 273 (White floral to peachy apricot), & Giorgio Beverly Hills (peach apricot to white floral)…

I had Charlie Gold in my closet for over 2 years, received it on a very hot day and hated it. Yesterday, reading the comments about CG and being a somewhat cooler day decided to try it again. And I liked it a lot.A caramel ambery sweetness (don’t think there is vanilla or a lot of vanilla in it), with cloves and cinnammon at the forefront too, some sandalwood and perhaps patch and peach. Long lasting (over 7 hours on my skin) with moderate sillage, this is a treat and an exclusive one.

I’m delighted with Charlie Gold; the perfume equivalent of Jersey Caramels. I bought it heavily discounted from a large pharmacy chain, encouraged by the enthusiastic reviews already posted here.
It’s a good everyday autumn scent. As it’s a moderate sillage and because it was so cheap, I’ve enjoyed a rampant week of indulgent and undisciplined over-spraying!
Caramel and vanilla notes are always evident, and cinnamon also in the first few hours. The vanilla notes are the longest lasting; they were still present on the skin at 5pm today, having been applied more than 10 hours earlier.
Finally I must mention a curious effect – I keep checking to see if an iron or oven top has been left on around about four hours after applying the fragrance. A faint undetected dusty-electronic note? Odd.

I don’t know if I’ve done a review for this already (cba to scroll thru) but I’ve always referred to this in other reviews of mine from a negative point of view….. but today I will take everything back. Recently I bought chanel Allure edp and altho I have allocated it as a gift I can’t stop thinking about the smell…. at first I was like omg this (chanel Allure) smells like crappy Charlie gold!!! Anyway, Chanel Allure grew on me pretty much straight away. The gentle spicy ambery Ness and gorgeous creamy Ness. …. and I can’t stop thinking about it. Such a clean sophisticated smell but I can’t wear it because it’s now a gift for someone. …. today I sprayed on Charlie gold just for the sake of it (I always go thru my perfumes and give each one some love whilst lounging around at home) and I got that lovely chanel Allure Ness. … omg. I take back all the negative stuff I’ve said about this perfume and I’m so glad I’ve got it. I don’t think my nose was clever enough to appreciate this hidden gem. I get all that creamy vanillary cinamonny Ness now that everyone was talking about in their reviews…. it’s got a cosy sweetness to it, not sickly toothachingly…..it’s funny how we have things for a long time and shun them and then one day bam!!! Our scent perception changes and we start loving something we once loathed. Another reason to hold onto dissapointing buys…. most times (in my case) they end up growing on you. 🙂

Crazy mix of lightly spiced powdered flowers…it brings an odd smile to the face 🙂 It’s definitely synthetic and kinda cheezy..but forgivable somehow.
I enjoy the top and mid of this scent. The lovely hints of cinamon and gentle cloves keep me sniffing. But the drydown I’m not so keen on. About an hour into every wearing I have had, all the 14 notes completely fade out and the dreaded peach settles in for the duration 🙁
Oh well…I just get my kicks the first hour then lather something else over the top…sometimes successfully 😉

This is a gorgeous aromatic amber perfume. It reminds me of Black Pearls by Elizabeth Taylor and I can confirm that because I have both fragrances and have even worn them at the same time layering them together. This is a caramel scent as well. That caramel is so delicious but not in a too-sweet way. It’s definitely got some dark edges and a bit of a mystery to it. The cloves, there could be some patchouli, sandalwood, some incense. It’s dark but not scary. It’s the kind of shade you get into in a booth at a restaurant with your loved one. Smells Oriental and classy. There are not that many flowers in this perfume. I smelled the violet and rose, I think there was a jasmine. It’s mostly caramel, cloves, cinnamon and amber. There’s also just enough fruit to keep it sweet and fresh mostly oranges and peaches and apricot. This is really very nice.

Fragrance Review For Charlie Gold Revlon
    *Eau Fraiche
Notes: Orange, apricot, sandalwood, plum, amber, cinnamon, musk, violet, freesia, peach, jasmine, caramel, cloves, cedar rose
I never did like Charlie the original classic. I had a frightful first spray which to me was very harsh and I was not able to enjoy the rest of the experience with it. But Charlie Gold is something else. For me this flanker is a superior alternative to Charlie. This is an exotic aroma of spices, woods, and fruit. It’s classified as an Oriental and they weren’t kidding. Although it’s strong, has great sillage and projection and feels full bodied, it lacks the head-heart-base note structure which only means that the scent is linear and smells the same from the first spritz to the dry down. It’s a flavorful aromatic spicy fragrance which wears like a very early gourmand scent before the gourmands became popular. The cinnamon and caramel is delicious and by far the strongest accord. The cloves and woodsy notes of cedar and sandalwood give it that Oriental flair. For me as an expert nose I can tell that the cloves is what brings everything together. If this has a base it’s filled with sandalwood and woods which properly support the other notes giving this scent a fruity-floral vibe. There’s a violet that really jumps out at me. There’s also a rose. The sweet fruits of peach apricot and plum provide the fragrance with an almost Rochas Femme type of fruitiness but I find that Rochas Femme is softer. This one is a bolder saucier creature. It can also be compared to Black Pearls by Elizabeth Taylor although the peach note in Black Pearls is stronger whereas the peach in Charlie Gold is softer. The sandalwood in Black Pearls is also stronger as is the floral notes. I didn’t think of this scent as being too floral. Despite the fruits and flowers, it’s a fragrance which at heart delivers spicier scents and the gourmand caramel. It’s fun to smell and identify each of the note as they waft in the air and onto your nose. I think this scent is best suited to winter time because it is so warm and because it almost wears like a smell you’d inhale in a coffee house. It’s really quite comforting and cozy but it’s also very exotic, seductive. I would never call this an old lady fragrance. On me it smelled sexy. My girl friend smelled it on me in a taxi cab the other night and she said it smells very sexy. She asked me what fragrance I was wearing and I told her “You won’t believe me but it’s Charlie Gold”. She’d never heard of it but that’s great! This perfume smells a tad Arabic but without the musk and oud. It’s a sweeter and fruiter caramelized amber with fruity-floral edges. If you like amber perfume or exotic Orientals but don’t want to wear the authentic Middle Eastern perfumes this is a really nice alternative. It’s a beautiful aroma. I can see why they called it GOLD because it does have a golden feel to it, warm, glowing golden amber. I love it. My mother wore the original Charlie and she asked me about this one and I let her try it. She liked it and will be purchasing it. The price is very affordable for a great fragrance and you can buy this baby easily with one click on Amazon.com I will have to say however that I have a very rare discontinued version called Eau Fraiche w
