Smells sweet, fruity, and juvenile – not at all like any of the other Cashmere Mists.

Smells very much like a Poison flanker or a Mugler scent to me. Just smells very run of the mill. Nothing original, but nice enough (not to say Mugler or Poison scents are boring, just..those are what I first thought of when I smelled this). Just nothing to stand out here, fairly inoffensive, unless someone has allergies or asthma or the like. A typical “fruitcholi” that seems to abound all the retail fragrance shelves the past lo many years now. Not bad, just not memorable or original.
Would be a nice Summer date night or first date fragrance. Not sure this is office-friendly, but to each their own. Note-wise, I pick up berries..and a very light patchouli. I guess the plum blossom translates as a berry/fruit scent on my skin. I pick up a sweetness as this dries down.
I could see this being a nice gift for a mom or mother in law or daughter, that sort of thing, or when you know someone likes perfume, but don’t know what kind. All in all, pretty much a very “safe,” if perhaps boring fragrance to some noses. Longevity and sillage are decent. But I would say if you’ve got a large fragrance collection, you will likely be bored with this. But it is a nice enough, inoffensive, pleasant fragrance, nonetheless.

First thought: WOW, so fruity. Second thought: how is this in the Cashmere Mist line?
Veil is in the same bottle as Cashmere Mist, but it’s definitely not a related scent. Veil is a fruit salad in sheep’s clothing, woolly pun intended. There is absolutely no cashmere in this, nothing creamy or warm to speak of. It’s nice, but ultimately generic. It is very long lasting though, without being heavy or too strong.
It reminds me of Imari Seduction by Avon mixed with Love Relentlessly by Tory Burch. There is definitely an actual dupe out there for this scent, I just can’t put my finger on it. I feel like it’s something from Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body Works. Like I said, very generic. That being said, it’s a good scent, and would make a nice gift for someone whose tastes you’re unsure of. Veil is very wearable, all ages and all seasons. Office friendly.
Edit: I just grabbed my bottles of Imari Seduction and Love Relentlessly and it was close, but not spot on until I added a light spritz of original Cashmere Mist. So I eat my words, Veil is indeed a relative to the original CM. A distant relative!

Fragrance Review For Cashmere Veil
Donna Karan
Top Notes
Bergamot
Middle Notes
Floral Notes Spices
Base Notes
Patchouli Musk Woody Notes
A fab Oriental a kind of modern twist on classic Orientals such as the well-known Shalimar as only Donna Karan can do. This is a spicy floral with a woodsy and musky dry down, warm, a bit assertive and unisex. This is definitely for winter wear, and or autumn wear with a cashmere sweater (not a veil) and pea coats and trench coats. For fans of gourmand notes and sweet things this is the opposite. The major note is the patchouli, herbal, green, and it’s floral with a nondescript white floral possibly a jasmine. I like this one. The name reminds me of a perfume mentioned in the 60’s TV Show The Wild Wild West with Robert Conrad. A young lady wore a fragrance called ‘Veil of Cashmere’.
The opening is of citrus with a very strong bergamot orange. Fresh and zesty with an orange flower scent. Then it segues into the jasmine and possibly a white rose but the florals are not as pronounced as the spices. The spicy notes are quite unisex as the dry down that follows composed of wood and musk.
For me this is a long lasting and very strong realistic patchouli and woodsy perfume. It’s not very typical of most DKNY perfumes which are fruity with apple and flowers. This is the Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights of Donna Karan. Guys can feel free to wear this too because it’s quite woody and herbal very masculine in fact. A good unisex frag for both the Mr and the Mrs. A nocturnal evening wear perfume as well.
On a final note I love the bottle in purple color. It’s the same glass flame flacon as Donna Karan Cashmere Mist. The purple theme does not match with the scent. This is very GREEN smelling. In fact one could easily call it a chypre as well as Oriental.
Thanks Donna

I have tested it yesterday in Macys – Michigan AVe in Chicago. When the woman gave me paper with it I said ehhh, nthg special. Then I have walked and I back to spray more.
What a discovery …..
I put it to my wish list!
And there is a story behind it!
It’s not of the best scent of 2017.
Truly – light and rich with scent. Musky cherry covered with some delicate wood..
I love how it blends.
I have sprayed my laptop bag lol and my whole living room smells till today morning.

Definitely pleasant , like a warm scent with a bit of a fresh oriental vibe
It isn’t like very different but Veil is a good word for it , like a warm soft veil..
It is feminine and warm and cozy but isn’t over the top and thick
It has some lightness to it probably coming from the citrus, which gives the scent a fuzzy woodsy vibe.
I might get it in the fall , it is a well made perfume , it has a sensuous vibe and the colour of the bottle is pretty !! Longevity is good
Abd if you don’t like too much patchouli this isn’t a patch bomb !!
Lovely !!

I just purchased this from Nordstrom about 2 hours ago. I spritzed this on my arm and it has been love at first sniff. It’s still very intense, it could be my signature sent but I’ll give it a few hours.
