Description

Carnal Flower or forbidden flower is a fragrance with the scent of tuberose. Tuberose is a beautiful and dangerous flower. In some cultures, it is not allowed for young women to feel its intoxicating scent after sunset. Tuberose is a symbol of forbidden pleasure, hiding its passionate, sensual character behind its fresh, white, floral face. Its intoxicating scent seduces many perfumers; Frederic Malle and creator Dominique Ropion tried to repeat this scent in their particular way. Frederic Malle was inspired for Carnal Flower during his visits to California, where everything smells like gardenia and tuberose.

Dominique Ropion worked on development of the formula for more than two years. The perfume contains a larger dose of tuberose absolute than any other perfume. The composition opens with heavy, green notes of citrus leaves and branches. As tuberose develops, the green nuance passes into a note of camphora, which softens the opulent flowers unintrusively. Fruity nuances of melon and coconut add light and slightly gourmet sound to the composition and do not attract attention. The muse for this perfume was Frederic Malle’s aunt, famous actress Candice Bergen, who acted in the movie Carnal Knowledge with Jack Nicholson.

The top notes contain: bergamot, melon and eucalyptus.
The middle notes include: ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose, Salicylates (natural, toxic product of herbal origin, a sort of a herbal feromone which is used by plants as a warning).
The base encompasses: tuberose absolute, orange blossom absolute, coconut and musk.

The perfume was created in 2005.

Nothing that I say that hadn’t been said by the other reviewers here… Carnal Flower is a beautiful photo-realistic Tuberose that exudes that image of a mythical garden in the night (the time when the tuberose really blossoms invoking a mysterious and intoxicating smell). It’s very green, and refreshing.
The longevity is stellar, the silage is moderate to heavy.
If the price of Carnal Flower is too outrageous for you, get Perris Monte Carlo Tubereuse Absolue, they are within the same category, and I suspect that both of them are brother n sister.

LOVE this! I’m not that savvy at detecting specific notes. This one is just beautiful! Very unique, good sillage and staying power. Alluring, sexy and just….wow! Perfect for a night out. Along the lines of Narcotic Venus in that they’re both absolutely captivating!

Oh my!! I am captivated by Carnal Flower. Yes, it is designated as a woman’s fragrance. However, I beg to differ. At the first sniff, I felt that it was a little to feminine for me, but as it progressed a little longer, it becomes more unisex. I don’t have any problem wearing this at all. In fact, my brother told me that it did not smell too feminine on skin (may be only on paper). Yea…this offering is heavy in tuberose. I happen to be one who loves tuberose a lot. To me, tuberose is one of the sexiest note. I had the pleasure to choose fragrances for my wife, and I almost always choose tuberose-oriented fragrance. I could pick up the presence of coconut also, but not too heavy (just adding a proper amount of creaminess and gourmandish style). As far as the performance, Carnal Flower is performing beastly on my skin (both longevity and projection) to the point that I have to pay a careful attention on the sprayer and the place where I spray it on. I rarely spray on my neck, as it will project so much. As the colder season is almost here, I am curious to try this under cold weather. I would not recommend to wear this in the heat of humid summer as it probably will be overwhelming. In conclusion, this is another fine offering from Frederic Malle. The price is very steep, but its quality demands it.

2005? This fragrance was wayyyyy ahead of its time.
It’s absolutely beautiful. Very creative use of tuberose flower in a way that it didn’t smell to feminine.
Definently the best floral fragrance I’ve smelt in my life

I bought a decant of this blind having no idea what I might be in for. There is so much buzz surrounding this fragrance its impossible to make sense of any of it. I see it mentioned all the time in the forums for every type of scenario and fragrance recommendation.
When I first applied it, I get a very indolic white floral. It’s the same type of indoles I found in Terracotta by Guerlain. These quickly die down a lot faster than Terracotta’s. I’d say it only lasts about 10-15 minutes. Then the tuberose changes to a slightly green, fresh blooming tuberose. In the heart I continue searching for eucalyptus but a ginormous beefy coconut stands in my way. It almost threatens to overpower the entire composition. But around 2 hours later, it provides some relief. It takes a nap in the corner (still present) and the greeness comes back for an afternoon. Then the coconut wakes up from the nap another hour or two later and joins musk for supper.
Sillage is impressive, longevity is super.
The scent overall could be confused with a very high quality suntan lotion. It was very tropical/beachy which I wasn’t expecting. I always see it mentioned on “dark floral” recommendations, and that’s the complete opposite of what I get. The darkest thing about this is the black strip of tape around the bottle.
Otherwise I’d wear this on Summer days and nights, on beach vacations, by the pool in a swimsuit and leather sandals. It needs sunshine and warmth. Which considering I live in Texas, it’s found a good place to call home.

In inverno è troppo freddo e quasi molesto.
Non so. Non è un profumo che mi convinca più di tanto nonostante venga idolatrato in questo modo.

So, further to my previous waffle(!), I belatedly got my boyfriend to try this and it’s actually really nice on him and we both like it.
It turns far sweeter on him than it does on me and you can actually smell the tuberose (which you couldn’t really, on me, at all), but the eucalyptus means it still smells quite masculine.
In fact, to me, because of the eucalyptus, this is more of an aftershavey type of fragrance, than it is a conventionally female one.
I would definitely put it into the male fragrances that could be worn by some women category; rather than into the female fragrances that could be worn by some men one.

This is a very sensual perfume, very long lasting with moderate sillage. Creamy richness. When I wore it to work a 28 year old man said it was the best perfume he had ever known me to wear. I typically walk by to get his opinion and tell him what he is experiencing. He has sniffed over 80 perfumes and men’s scents.
When he discovered the price online, he said this one was worth it. I gave him a sample for a significant other. ( I hope she gets a bottle!) The receptionist said she wanted to follow me down the hall. This is a a masterpiece and I intend to wear it as often as possible. Truly unforgettable. Save your pennies; this one IS worth it.

The heaven must be smell like Carnal Flower! Carnal Flower is one of the best fragrance on the world.

Tuberose and jasmine creamied up with coconut. Maybe a little wood and musk off in the distance. The coconut comes out more in the dry down and it is sun tan lotion, beachy glorious. I don’t know if I would quite call this animalic but it has a nice depth to it. The white florals are well done without that usual white floral screechiness.
Carnal flower is for warmer weather. Youthful but I think most ages can wear it; definitely feminine. Sillage and projection are very nice. At eight hours this was still fuming beautifully. Would probably be okay for work; I find it sexy. Not exactly the most unique scent but very well done. Pricey but the performance is there and the notes smell high quality and natural. Excellent perfume!

Someday I will have this fragrance. I am priced out right now in the US and have ordered a copycat oil from a reliable vendor. Let’s see if it is close. I am sorry this is not a real review. My tiny sample of the real thing is precious and must be shared with friends, so I cannot take on the full blast as I would like.
I notice that Luca Turin likes it in his perfume guide, calling it a shimmering floral and describing it as ‘ “healthy vulgarity of tuberose and rich mouth-watering freshness of jasmine.” You mainly think of tuberose with the fragrance, so I was glad to be reminded of the jasmine. My wild jasmine vines are blooming right now in massive arrays of white crosses and won’t last long.
Ropion also created Burburry Beat which I like and which I know is NOTHING like CF, but still… I find that funny.

    Oh. My.
How to describe Carnal Flower other than by saying this is a significant perfume. If there is a scent that will stand the test of time, it will be this. It is on the right side of animalic, an explosion of tuberose with intricate musk and woody undertones. It’s on a league of its own, really, I think because it manages to be both raw and polished. If only it lasted longer on me.. My skin just makes it disappear after an hour, which is very annoying. I keep a travel spray with me at all times to refresh, but with a perfume at this price point, it seems rather wasteful. I’d advise getting a sample of this first, to see if it lasts on you. However, even though I really budget for this sort of thing, I’ll keep buying it as long as I can afford it. Which says a lot.

  13. :

Let me start off by saying this is an amazing fragrance. I reallly reallllly like this. Now, both men and women can wear this. I would say it does lean more towards the feminine side but if you masculinity can bear this you will turn heads and get compliments. Now this in Nordstrom has a price point of about $390 would I say it’s worth it? Probably.
This is aromatic and green, it has a really strong opening, I haven’t worn it enough to smell the dry down but Im already impressed with the opening. I did get a decant from the sales guy so I’ll be testing it out but it lives by the name, carnal flower so this is exactly what I would expect. The tuberose is spectacular in this. I’m torn between being a day or night scent, can be both I suppose but would probably rather wear it during the day and let the sunglight and heat make this flourish. Def a spring and summer scent.
If you havent given this one a try. Go get your nose on it at your local Nordstrom.
Edit: Gave this a spray and yes a man can wear this however, it does lean more towards the feminine side. So I gave the decant to my lady. I still love how it smells, just not on me.
Scent 10/10 for me. Great work.

    total u turn on this
    now i’ a believer
    with the summer heat
this scents takes an unexpected turn
    remains feminine
but if you have enough guts
your female coworkers will be enthralled
mostly by your guts (if you are a man)
they will stick their noses on your neck
and ask you what you’ve got
    a perfect sexy scent!
    it’s bloody expensive, anyway!

Third wearing of this. Amazing to discover a side of tuberose you don’t see in most perfumery. It’s cold and in your face. The eucalpytus really hightlights the mentholated facets and makes it also like ‘stone’ in the opening. Like an inpenetrable fortress. It’s raw, unadultered and in your face. I can pick out the tiniest hint of the jasmine, and when I move my head whilst smelling, the faint trace of ylang ylang sweetness, but this is largely a fleshy tuberose and cold Euca scent.
Great for excuding a bold, commanding presence. It lacks the warmth I would expect with a name like ‘carnal’ but its a very unique take on that concept all the same.

  16. :

Intoxicating fragrance. I discovered tuberose through a Diptyque candle and I fantasized about wearing a perfume like it. I then discovered Carnal Flower, and I’m sad and happy. Sad because it is expensive but happy because it will be my signature scent.
Carnal Flower starts out fiercely with eucalyptus and the tuberose, but after half hour, it settles into your skin. A few hours later I begin to notice bergamot, ylang, jasmine, musk in a warm mixture that reminds me of cleanliness and comfort. I live in warm climate and feel this fragrance is amazing. I spray it on my skin which fades quicker than spraying clothing. On clothing the tuberose is the main star for a while.
This fragrance deeply reminds me of Diptyque Tuberose candle, or as close as it gets in my opinion. If you love that candle, consider this hypnotic fragrance.

    Tropical tuberose.
This is summery and tropical. The tuberose note is delicious. Thankfully it reacts well to the summer heat, because I can’t imagine this in cold weather.
My heart still belongs to Sotto la Luna Tuberose, but that one goes dormant (bitter) in the summer. I’d happily buy Carnal Flower to fill the gap if the price point were lower. As it is, a sample will have to do.
Edit : apparently I’m allergic to this. That vouches for the quality of the tuberose absolute I guess.

Holy s**t. What else can I say? Love at first sniff. I couldn’t afford getting a bottle for YEARS but I finally collected them coins and I got it.
The most original take on tuberose I’ve ever encontered. Green, fresh, creamy, narcotic, a little indolic… Longevity and sillage are incredible.
A true masterpiece by Dominique Ropion. My signature.

My first encounter with Carnal Flower was nothing to write home about; I tested it in London, on a gloomy rainy day, and it didn’t develop on my skin at all – basically it disappeared without a trace in two hours. So I decided to give it another chance, this time in much warmer weather. So I sprayed a bit on my wrist and I was like… wait a second, this smells familiar… and then it hit me – it smells like one of the countless versions of Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire!?! I can’t remember if it’s Black Perfetto, or Ma Robe Petale (in a green bottle), but it must be one of them! This is sort of weird, because LPRN scents are dominated by cherry and almond, and these notes are allegedly not even present in Carnal Flower; and yet, my big ole nose’s verdict is that these are quite similar. It must be the combination of coconut, melon and bergamot in Carnal Flower that creates this sort of impression.
This just goes to show that the ‘official’ lists of notes provided by perfume producers are more-or-less rubbish, and we have absolutely no idea what exact substances they put in them. Hence shocking discoveries such as this one.
On a merrier note, I must say that Carnal Flower works better in warmer weather and lasts longer. Yet, the ghost of LPRN wouldn’t leave me and actually made me wish that it didn’t stick for so long!!

I really want to like this one.. but I am not there yet.
Usually I really like tuberose perfumes.. but this one just have too much coconut in my opinion. All I can smell is a lot of coconut.. which is something I don’t like in this perfume…? I think I dont really like coconut smell in a perfume. It reminds me of bath and body works or some other cheap products I’ve smelled in the past. Cancelling out some coconut will make me love this more. But probably make it less special to some people.. especially that tropical feel. But overall you get a real mega dose of tuberose there.
And the longevity and projection on this is CRAZY. DAMN. Usually Frederic Malle perfumes have their alcohol content listed on the bottle so you can know how much percentage of the oil content is in the bottle. I remember it was 30% oil when i saw it in the store for this one. WOW
Will still keep giving it a try occasionally. Sometimes the best fragrance I’ve discovered for myself are the ones that I initially hated so much. Maybe one day I will come back and update my review 🙂 I certainly hope

    Summer evening in a bottle.
For a long time, I was looking for a perfect floral fragrance for me(n), especially by fleeing from tuberose because I thought that note was exclusively related to the ladies. Oh, I was so wrong!
Although this is the perfume that brought me the most compliments (ever!), it’s very important to me and how I feel when I’m alone. And I feel great, confident in a sexy and very romantic way.
Sophisticated and gentle, yet dazzling. Cool and quietly seductive. Green fresh and white flower juicy mirage!
Like a good friend, it always brings a smile on my face.

Green notes and creamy sweet tuberose, fresh but with lots of character. Projects well on me and lasts really long. Smells very realistic and I feel like I’m walking in a tuberose garden. Boyfriend told me though that I smell like a saint’s altar (with all the oils and florals they put there) Lol! I still love this though and compared to watered-down version of Fracas this is my favourite tuberose and I respect Mr. Ropion’s artistry.

  23. :

    3 out of 5

This is a beautiful fresh tuberose fragrance, completely unisex. The opening green notes, esp. eucalyptus, prevent this from becoming too sweet, and the coconut is there just to add a touch of creaminess, without ever becoming cloying, In terms of projection and longevity, I was expecting a powerhouse, but no such luck. I don’t know if it’s due to reformulation, or simply to do with my skin chemistry, but in less than two hours this turns into a skin scent for me, and another two hours later it’s completely gone. Pity. Due to this problem, it’s not worth the money.

I love this scent because it smells like Pert Plus. As a shaved-headed bald man, I wear Carnal Flower to create the illusion of having a full head of thick, richly shampooed hair. I find that this combines well with anything because its shampooiness keeps it in a separate scent category from cologne.

  25. :

Opens with green tuberose. The green burns off quickly. This turns into a huge, dreamy, creamy, tuberose that is sexual and wet. Great scent bubble.

I have tried it today through a sample. Is it me or is just weak on its own. I could only smell it for the first 1-1,5 hours and then…almost nothing!!! Unique yes but long lasting…for me it’s a no!

  27. :

    4 out of 5

I have forced myself not to review this one, even though I have owned it for a while. I needed time to really understand it. On the back of a love of Tuberose, especially Fracas, Versace Blonde and Truth or Dare, and after reading up on supposedly similar fragrances, I bought this blind (which at the cost was potentially a stupid move!).
It does indeed have Tuberose in. Although my naivety at the time led me to believe all Tuberose scents smell the same or very similar at least. I have had an education since. They don’t!
When I first sprayed it a big feeling of regret came over me. Regret I had spent that much money on something that was not what I expected or wanted. It was too late however, it was mine. I have since worn it a couple of times and taken time to distance it from my other Tuberose scents and judge it on what it is rather than what I wanted it to be. It has become my favourite perfume out of my growing collection.
It is very green to my nose. Especially at first. The Eucalyptus takes centre stage. Then it calms down and settles and it becomes quite something. I do not really know how to describe it but when I smell it I almost become dizzy, intoxicated. I actually feel a little high. I suspect narcotic would go some way to explaining it. I am transported to a humid and hot place where the smell of thousands of white flowers is intensified by the heat and even on a cold day in England, I feel a little warmer for it. On nights out it actually makes me feel like a bad girl, like I have an alter ego! I appreciate that this probably sounds really contrived but it is the only way I can explain it. I LOVE fragrance but Carnal Flower offers me more than just a scent. It actually affects my mood in a big way. I have known others to verge on doing this (Vintage Poison, Alien) but Carnal Flower does it in a big way.

First impression: I like it. Summer in a bottle. Elegant, bright white flowers reminding me of days in the sun. Deeper and richer than Guerlain Terracotta, but in the same vibe. My husband likes it, but says, “let’s wait and see, since we both know how things can change.”
One hour in: Still nice, but I’m getting bored with it. I enjoy a passing sniff of white florals, either the real thing in my garden or a perfume on someone else, but on me they get tiresome. I overspray with Musc Ravageur and the two scents play nicely together, adding a muskier note that somehow harmonizes well with the tuberose. MR makes me happy.
I head out to the garden and pull weeds for a while to let the two mix and wear off a little because it’s too much to wear all that indoors. After sweating them both out for a while, I smell pretty good! I’ll keep my tester around to practice layering with it, but won’t invest in a full bottle.
I may be a Californian who lives on the coast, but I do not wear beach scents well. Give me a primal forest, high mountain trail, or an old church or temple filled with incense and I am content.

If you are looking for a perfume for (highly redacted version of ) lady Macbeth, there you have it.
It’s a somewhat indolic tuberose with depth. Cold, charming, and lethal. Compared with Fracas, it has razor sharp camphoraceous facet, and certainly no pretty girly fruity tone.
I wish this perfume could exchange name with “Tubereuse Criminelle”, for this is the perfect portrait of a royal Femme Fatale.

My love for white floral especially Sambac Jasmine and Tuberose drew me to sample this perfume. This fragrance for me is a….
    GODDESS!
I say Goddess because sambac jasmine and tuberose are widely used as offerings for different religious and spiritual icons in the east.
I also say Goddess because this perfume is worn with a mature aura. Also, fragrances tend to be subjective. For the western mindset tuberose and jasmine might come across as carnal but in the east it evokes purity and calmness which is why it is offered to Gods and Goddesses.
For someone who has an Oriental ancestry (Filipino), this fragrance evokes warm tropical summer nights filled with the noise of cicadas everywhere. This is a true FLOriental. This is a BIG blooming white floral overload which needs to be ‘respected’- apply sparingly.
Great perfumes I think stay true and memorable when they incorporate a sense of nature and culture in the creation. This is close creation evoking the rich flowers of Asia.

Carnal Flower is right up my alley! I love tuberose, and it just doesn’t get much better than this. I have never smelled a more realistic, true-to-nature, tuberose-based fragrance. I crave the lush green, earthy opening of this fragrance. This perfume brings me a lot of joy, especially on cold, snowy days. I know for some people this is a special occasion type of scent, but I wear it everywhere. I don’t find that this has beastly projection, but I wouldn’t want it to, as it could become too much of a good thing. If you enjoy tuberose fragrances, this should be on your must-try list!

  34. :

Lush, wet, green tuberose and enormous white florals in just one spray. Pretty, but didn’t capture me by any means. I was hoping my husband would go crazy like so many reviews have claimed, but he said I smelled exactly like his 75-year-old nana (she is a very rich woman with loads of style, however!) After some time, Carnal Flower settled into a salty coconut tanning lotion type of smell on my skin with no florals whatsoever.

This fragrance is like a drug to me. It’s intoxicating. I dont care if someone says its feminine. One day I will buy a full bottle, and I’m gonna rock it all the way!

I think that it is the best floral on the world without doubt (this is my opinion, but we should consider on Fracas, Poison, Beyond Love as well) . It is artistic, wearable, shimmering! It smells like fresh flowers that when you come into to the flower market and what your nose gets it. Heaven!

hello from tuberose nonfan. if perfumes could take any shape, this one would belong to carnivorous plant that lives deep in the jungle and disguises itself under crimson hibiscus flower.
this is the perfume that i currently have so much hate for, yet i am fully aware that in few years i might develop serious addiction to it. it is such a polarizing fragrance that most people i know either love it or hate it.
another issue this perfume has – whoever starts wearing it first among your circle of friends, be sure that it will become his/her signature and you will just be a mere copycat. choose wisely.
it is an ultimate depiction of floral monstrosity and oh how it succeeds to leave an impression.
see, i was even motivated to spare few moments to write a negative review, which is actually a praise to this glorious, toxic piece of art.

I found this to be very feminine, yet at the same time very wearable for a male. This stuff is simply other worldly. It may be one of the most well blended fragrances I have ever smelled. I purchased a small sample to see what the hype was about and I am definitely now a passenger on the hype train. It is so good that I am afraid to actually use it on myself in fear of running out one day, so whenever I need a fix I will remove the cap and give it a few wiffs as to satisfy my senses. Without even being applied to my skin, I can enjoy this scent enough to be ushered away to a euphoric and sensual state of pure ecstasy.
    Edit:
So I couldn’t get enough of this beauty and my sample finally ran low enough that I had to locate a full bottle. To my luck I found a 3.4oz for $175 on eBay. What a steal!!! Yes, $175 is a steal and worth every red cent for this beauty. Now I can enjoy this masterpiece forever. And of the 300 plus full size bottles I own this will remain on my top 10 shelf for as long as my nose is able to detect smells.
I’m not much on reviewing and describing what the actual scent smells like, but this is a MUST try for any fragrance lover. 10/10

A beautiful tuberose soliflore, very well constructed and balanced with the icy frame of eucalyptus in the opening on one hand and the warm luscious glow of coconut on the other hand. In the middle the tuberose glimmers gloriously like a well polished diamond.
On a more down to earth scale, it has very good projection and longevity on skin and ++++ on textiles. Sillage is quite good too. More suited for the colder weather but probably that’s just me. This is real perfume, exquisite stuff !
Frédéric Malle once mentionned in an interview that one goal of the Editions de Parfums was to create the new classics of tomorrow. There’s no question that with Dominique Ropion’s Carnal Flower, he has indeed reached his goal. This the new classic tuberose of the 21st century.
This is an opinion formed with the 10ml sample. I will be buying the 50ml bottle soon. It is expensive for sure but it is completely worth it.

If I didn´t know the notes of Carnal Flower, I would say this must be a scent of any exotic carnivorous plant. Its fragrance is seductive, deep & irresistible. I could almost touch that ajar blossom that seduces me with its sweet, buttery & opulent scent. The composition of this perfume is uncomplicated – intimate tuberose with powdery jasmine undertone, creamy coconut milk, slightly salty musk & sweetly green plant sap. And it´s enough. It works damn well. And all I can say is:”Oh, what a beautiful drama!”

Tested it again after several months. Now I am sure that’s pure feminine!
بعد از چند ماه ان را دوباره تست کردم.علیرغم این که رایحه ای سنشوال و در عین حال بسیار طبیعی است اما باز هم مطمئن شدم که اصلا یونی نیست و کاملا و قطعا زنانه است.

Gave this to my girlfriend because most of her favorite fragrances happen to have Tuberose almost every single time. It’s a great Tuberose scent

I used to hate this stuff and now it’s a multi-season favorite. Funny how that works!
CF has one of my favorite green openings ever. A lush, deep, cool whoosh of green. So exhilirating in any weather. I don’t smell menthol as a separate entity, but there’s an overall cooling sensation initially. The tuberose/white floral melange is not overly sweet, and even with its hint of coconut, doesn’t verge into suntan oil territory. It’s trooical but not beachy. As much as I love it, I do have to say the drydown is a bit meh on me. Some sort of flat white musk which is not bad smelling, just anti-clamctic. But it takes a while to get there.

Carnal Flower – a sensual elucidation of tuberose’s narcotic richness, an olfactive marvel. One wonders what praise can be given that hasn’t already been offered here?
A flurry of verdantly herbaceous camphor and slightly rubbery eucalyptus in the opening, lifted by tart bergamot, underpin the voluptuous floral bouquet to come. Here, creamy tuberose frolics with indolic jasmine in a way that heralds the warm skin and hot rubber character of the principal white floral – their dance always on the boundary of freshness and subtle rot. Then, before the overtly opulent composition has the chance to go buttery the way so many tuberose fragrances do, barely-there orange blossom softens the intensity while coconut and ylang-ylang lend a milky sweetness to the sumptuous white florals.
Fascinating in its depth and complexity, Carnal Flower managers to be both rich and soaring; the tuberose is transfigured in the composition, compounded with the milky and tropical impressions of fleshy coconut and ylang-ylang, and juxtaposed with those menthol eucalyptus nuances of greenness and salinity. Opulent, as a proper tuberose fragrance should be, it’s these nuanced facets that save Carnal Flower from being at all heavy or cloying, even despite its significant sillage and longevity.
Grand, sensual, and indulgent. Absolutely unisex.
    9.5/10

There is nothing like it. A deconstructed tuberose with its leaves, stems, roots and, of course, the flower. An exuberant tropical plant perfectly combined with a coconut note. A night-blooming flower that carries you through the evening.

I know I’m in the minority here and I’m not expecting balloons 😉 but this is my honest review after two thorough testings in different temperatures allowing the perfume to run its full course. I thought (I hope) a contrasting experience might be useful.
Frederic Malle Carnal flower opens with an amazing blast of flower shop, as in, I’ve suddenly shrunk, I’m very small and standing amongst a giant bunch of eucalyptus stems. It’s wow, but it lasts less than five minutes.
Judging from the notes I should love CF, but this perfume quickly gets very harsh on me and doesn’t s
