Maybe this needs to sit a little longer for me, but right now this smells like a musky version of Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. I can see why it would appeal to a lot of others because Amazing Grace is also very popular. It has that clean lemonhead type smell with some white musk. I don’t really get the cologne comparisons…just because something smells fresh and citrusy doesn’t mean it’s masculine. The first time I smelled it though, it smelled like a doctor’s office, so they’re not kidding when they say the oil needs to sit and adjust for a while after shipping.

This is a very pretty perfume. It smells like something that very well could be on the market in a department store! Definitely my most favorite out of my samples set, and I had to order a full bottle! It smells very girlie and feminine; not too young and not overly mature. A little bit fruity and a little bit sweet….This is a really great perfume from Alkemia!!

Out of the introductory batch of 7 Alkemia perfumes I’ve tried so far, Carmen 7 is the *standout* favorite! This is going on the Want List right now. 🙂
It’s gorgeously linear, with the dominant notes being Vanilla- Guaiac/Sandalwood- Spices. I read somewhere that Alkemia doesn’t do much citrus accords due to the oil format, so there may be some Elemi to give this an hesperidic zest. Cinnamon, Cloves, Carnation, Lily of the Valley, and a possible addition of fruit; rounds out the rest.
There’s a beautiful Incense in the dry down, similar to what I loved in Maison Martin Margiela’s _Untitled_.
Although ‘pralines’ is on the pyramid, it never crosses the Rubicon to gourmand territory. Barely sweetened, the way chewing on cashews has sweetness, but one wouldn’t call it a dessert. Carmen 7 is perfect in every way. There isn’t a thing I would change about it. A solid 10.

I would describe this scent as “sweet”. No notes in particular jump out at me, which honestly has it’s own appeal. I smell freshly showered, sweet as a vanilla goddess, lovely like a fruity garden, and enticingly innocent without having to analyze the notes I’m smelling. It’s wonderfully and subtly feminine.
Sits close to the skin like a naughty vixen. When I wear this an unusually high percentage of men seem to lean in closer to inquire about the fragrance I’m wearing.

Starts out too sweet for my liking, but settles into something pleasant. I like it enough to wear it the rest of the day, but not enough to keep my sample. If anyone is interested, feel free to PM me.

Where Carmen 7 is concerned, I do not experience the featured gourmand aspects of the perfume at all. It goes on musky, the almond blossom floral settles itself next to this, and then the amber surreptitiously stirs the mix. I also detect the faintest hint of golden tobacco way down under the waft. I enjoy the oil on its own, though I think this would be a knock-out layered with Smoke & Mirrors.
I need to add an addendum to my Carmen 7 observations… Solo on my left wrist, upon dry-down and very close to the skin, it becomes extremely edible in a sensual kind of nibbling sense. Layered with Smoke and Mirrors on my right wrist… Well, let’s just say the temperature is raised a few notches. Quite a few, in fact.
