Camelia Intrepide by Atelier Cologne is a fragrance for women and men. This is a new fragrance. Camelia Intrepide was launched in 2016. The nose behind this fragrance is Jerome Epinette. Top notes are sicilian lemon, calabrian bergamot and nutmeg; middle notes are camellia, orris root and violet leaf; base notes are turkish rose oil, leather and amber.

It’s not often these days I’m conpletely bowled over by a fragrance, especially one I definitely should’ve already tried. However, Camille Intrapide is utter magic from start to finish. It has a similar subtlety to something like Santal Carmine from this house, soft buttery, with classic perfume touches that elevate it to something beyond the average. Citrus opening then turning to a delicate floral smell, with a iris/orris smoothness. This is where the drydown becomes one of the nicest, softest, most realistic and well realised leather notes I’ve had the pleasure of sampling. It reminded me of cuir sacre from Ann Gerard but much more unisex and generally more appealing, certainly lasting longer too. I’m surprised not to see sandalwood listed in the notes, not that it’s prominent but it has a creamy woods to it. The leather smell is so good, I sprayed a card as well as myself and I can still smell the gorgeous, soft, buttery leather on there….this fragrance is quite something I definitely want a bottle for sure.

First time I wore this in the winter I found it a bit too much, too harsh and perfumey. Now as the weather is getting warmer I pulled out my sample and re-tested it again and I’m surprised how different it feels. It’s musky/ozonic and really all about the leather and violet leaf, two very distinctive notes. I also get the citrus notes and the spicy nutmeg but not too too much.
The amber sort of simmers in the background.
This is one of those fragrances that I picture favoring very artistic people.
And also sometimes fragrances are marketed as unisex but still be slightly more masculine or feminine. This sits smack down the middle.
Longevity on me is 4-6 hours. Silage is moderate with 5 sprays.
