Description
Bvlgari celebrates 130 years of existence and launches new fragrance Bvlgari Man In Black, as a flanker of the original Bvlgari Man from 2010. The fragrance is announced as bold and charismatic, inspired by the myth of the birth of Vulcan, the god of the earth, interpreted in a way that suits the modern man.
Bvlgari Man In Black is an intense composition of amber, leather, spices and woods. It opens with accords of natural rum and luminous spices. Tuberose, iris absolut and leather form the core of the perfume, placed on the base of benzoin, tonka bean and guaiac wood.
It is available as 30, 60 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.
Bvlgari Man In Black was launched in 2014. The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas.

As others have stated very similar to Spicebomb, but not quite as strong. MIB has a stronger tobacco note which I like. SB is more sweet and unisex while MIB is much more masculine. SB is also a projection monster while MIB is below average in sillage and projection. In fact, I’m a little disappointed in MIB’s performance. Which is a pity because the scent is a wonderful autumn-like composition with its spicy accord blended perfectly with a nice rum, touch of leather, and very realistic tobacco. If the performance was better Man In Black would be in my top 3 for the autumn season.

This is spicebomb if spice bomb lived up to its name lol..this here is very similar to SB but this is more spicier where to me SB is more sweet. It’s a really nice scent; I say if you have SB though there’s no need for both unless you like the smell of SB but wish it was spicier. Having said all that I still pick Spice Bomb over this though..lol

its smells great but after 2-3h the scent is completely gone. very disappointing for an eau de parfum.

Travel, carelessness, women, parties, sea, sun, money. Remember all this BUT it reminds us of it in cold seasons because wearing it when it’s hot would be crazy. When it’s cold but you miss your beach type being, wear it. This Bvlgari is a ship that takes you to warm seas!
P.S. copy of Bentley Intense but inferior to it.
ioditlegids – :
Very similar to CH Men Prive.
Easily likeable fall / winter fragrance.
I believe it lasts longer than CH Men Prive.

I just got this in the mail. Initial impressions: sprayed two spritz on each wrists,I get strong but not piercing pepper spice smell with sweet vanilla. I also get the rum, boozy note but not strong mixed with brown/tan leather feel. No tobacco. The part where I’m lost is, where’s the sillage? Power? Did the juice just vaporized in less than 10 minutes?
Edit:5-6 sprays still barely any sillage
ORDERARCOXIA – :
I bought this after smelling it in a high street store. I loved it in store, and most of the time wearing it over the next few months I did liked it a lot, but strangely not love. I think there is a sweet cloying note in there that just got a bit too much for me sometimes, a touch too aromatic. That said, I would buy it again – I think it’s a good nighttime date fragrance…but it would never become my signature. Probably best to wear in the Autumn/Winter in the evenings. I get rum and creamy vanilla for the most part. A well blended, masculine scent.
valdemarus – :
I don’t know if I got a bad bottle or what, but in the opening, all I can get out of this is black pepper. It almost smells like pencil shavings and not in a good way. The dry down though is really nice leather and tobacco without being sweet like some of the other cold weather fragrances in its class.
I prefer Spicebomb due to it being zestier. When I first spray and sniff Spicebomb, I almost swoon it is just so good. Man in Black is said to be the more manly older brother, but I get a more serious down-to-business vibe from this fragrance than it simply being more masculine or sexy.
I can see a well put together businessman wearing a suit and pulling MiB very well. It is also a good performer lasting several hours and projecting within an arm’s length.
7.75/10. I would give this a higher rating but I feel it could be better balanced. Like it is missing something that would round it out. Not necessarily a sweet note, but could be something to make it pop, like bergamot or aldehydes. A fragrance that does this darker, more masculine boozy leather and tobacco right is CH Men Prive. CHMP also has that spicy, almost pencil shaving type of an opening too, but it is far more balanced.
UPDATE: I now give this a 8.5/10. Really enjoying the boozy note. I am also picking up something animalic in the composition, perhaps the tuberose? Although I still like the balance of spices better in Spicebomb, Man in Black is growing on me.
bart149 – :
I’m not usually a fan of leather frags, but this one isn’t leather-focused and I really like the way its presented here. Smells very luxurious. Reminds me of expensive leather upholstery with a sweet alcoholic scent in the air. And it’s very inexpensive for what you get.
Performs very well for me. Longevity is around 12 hours in the office, without being overpowering in projection and sillage. Don’t think I’ll wear it in the tropical heat though. Also works well as an evening scent.
dimich t – :
Opens up with a blast of pepper. Rum and leather is also heavy on the opening on my nose. Settles fairly quickly. I would tend to agree with others that this juice lacks projection and longevity, especially as an EDP.
It’s still a nice, spicy, dark and classy fragrance. Suit night wear and formal type of setting.

Spicy and bright in the opening, but fades quickly into a dark, spicy, woody leather. Reminds me of Spicebomb sans cinnamon notes or a darker Terre d’Hermes. Good sillage, meh longevity.
Definitely a nighttime fragrance and for the F/W.

Do Enjoy the scent but 15+sprays for very light projection for first hour then close to skin for 4-5hrs stays on clothing for days
Bit let down by this

The scent is truly amazing, but the performance is horrible. I am 100% sure I do not suffer from olfactory fatigue. I sprayed this on a pillow in a different room and came back after one, two and three hours. After three hours it was barely noticable. Usually spicy/tobacco fragrances last for ages on fabric. Is it reformulated?

Loads of spices, rugged leather and sweet rum, smells like the classiest of pirate ships
Marsiy – :
On my skin this came off as a very spicy woman’s fragrance ! This has some rich spices which I appreciated but the iris mixed in just made it very feminine like a middle eastern perfume (not cologne) This was however beautifully blended but definitely not my cup of tea.
Also this only lasted 3-5 hours and only projected for 30 minutes.
Overall rating —6 out of 10 ! This had potential 🙁
vanek-slon – :
I have been using this from past a month or so on regular basis.
It has a great and promising start, lovely woody aroma which can be felt from more than an arm distance. In 15-20 min, you could feel the whiff of cloud around you and then it just vanishes!
Longetivity – Couldnt get more than 2 hr
Sillage- You couldnt smell it on your wrist after an hour or so.. So weak sillage too.
Wish it could be more promising, really wanted it as my signature edp.

My signature fragrance.
Bvlgari Man in Black is the pinnacle of men’s fragrances and speaks for itself. Due to it’s nature, it brings out what is already within. Passion, dedication, purpose, mystery, darkness and raw sexuality. A man who doesn’t mince words but doesn’t offend either. Perfect for winter but I could pull this off all the time.
It hit’s the brain’s pleasure centre and certainly aroused my significant other 😉 An olfactory awakening that sharpens the mind on dull days. Unlike fleeting scents these days, this one isn’t flaky. It has direction and depth.
I just hope it doesn’t become too popular or else I’ll have to resurrect my quest for another signature parfum 😛

I rather would say “Man In Bottle”. I find It is extremely manly, seductive, deep and mysterious. Excellent for formal occasion. One of the best within such price range.

A beautiful spicy, woody fragrance perfect for fall that reminds me of a more refined, higher quality version of Halloween Man Shot. I don’t know which fragrance came first, only that I smelled Halloween Man Shot first. I decided to give it a try after being so pleased with Aqua Amara by Bvlgari and I absolutely love it. The performance is astounding, a 9/10 on my skin, and the projection is great as well. In other words, don’t overspray
egenio_s – :
I just can’t stop smelling this.
It’s a delicious ongoing spiciness that makes you hungry and full at the same time. The only sweetness here comes from the cinnamon, which is a very smooth a natural sweetness which just helps make the scent more sensual but without overtaking the spiciness and without ever becoming cloying.
It’s absolutely a seductive night time fragrance but I would wear it in every season apart from the Mediterranean summer (25°C and higher). For the English summer which is basically a slightly brighter and warmer autumn, it goes very well, as long as you keep it strictly for the night time.
Very happy also with the performance.
rapan – :
I LOVE Bvlgari Man Extreme for summer due to its bright and freshness, and was so looking forward to trying this one for colder seasons. Unfortunately, the feeling that I have had for this one is rather “unsatisfying”.
Bvlgari Man In Black is ABSOLUTELY a men’s fragrance (NOT even an unisex one, as I would NOT want to wear this, and smell like a man). It is a fine frag for the gentlemen, no doubt, but I still expect more from it. To be more specific and accurate, I expect a slight difference from it in the future, if the perfumer decides to “reformulate” this scent (hey, it is possible, as we have all witnessed the “change” in so many fragrances). I found tuberose in here a little “wet” and “wilted”. I know how a fresh tuberose scent should smell like, as I have worn a lot of tuberose fragrances, at different levels of concentration or intensity. I thought, could it be the sweetness from RUM that might give this white flower that kind of wilted vibe to my nose!?!? And then I wondered what “whiskey” or “bourbon” could possibly do to this composition instead of rum!?!? Or what if geranium would be used in the future to replace tuberose!?!?…I’m not an expert, just voicing my thought.
I don’t hate this one, just am unsatisfied with it and the hunt for a colder weather men’s fragrance is still on 🙂
valen_1984 – :
Had a bottle of this one year ago. Didn’t restock it because although I like it a lot, I got fatigued of the scent.
Pure jagermeister hot pornography scent. Very sexual in my opinion. That strong cinnamon note that in the drydown rests on top of the vibrant alcoholic leather on wood scent is just purely amazing.
However I honestly think what spoils this is a bit for me is the peppery aroma that never leaves us alone, brings olfatory fatigue and hurts sillage. If it was just a bit more plain, yes, more plain, it would be such a monster of it’s kind.
Sometimes the designer’s effort on bringing more and more notes and adding peppers to make it more oriental for me ends up ruining the perfume’s potential. I’m not saying this one is bad, it’s good, I like it as I previously said, but the pepper doesn’t let me love it. Gives that itchy strong rash aroma that sits in the top of your nose all the time and doesn’t let you enjoy the smell.
Because of this some people have told me I should try the “all black” flanker of this one, but I still prefer this.
Still for me a 7.5/10 perfume, average longevity and sillage and a very very nice and sexual scent for the fall and winter night outs

C-Sauce, sorry what should we compare it to then? Aqua di Gio?

kattyul73 – :
Don’t listen to the women in the reviews below. There’s absolutely nothing feminine, let alone unisex about this scent. I swear, women in fragcom would argue that John Varvatos’ Dark Rebel is a feminine or unisex scent if they find it appealing. This scent may be too masculine for some men even, as it has a nod to the “old school” influences of male perfumery while still remaining modern. If you’re a woman who likes this, it’s not that it’s feminine or unisex, but rather you just have taste that deviates from the norm. Nothing wrong with having deviant taste, just please stop misleading people who haven’t tried this scent yet.

This is an amazing whiskey, spicy fragrance! Unfortunately, my husband doesn’t want to wear perfumes, but because of that I got to wear this fantastic perfume! And I think it could go under Unisex category.
Х_Лимон_Х – :
The reviews say repeatedly that women love this, and it’s true. It’s heavenly on me (I’m a woman).
I don’t find it masculine at all. Very unisex. Surprisingly light, and there is something here that reminds me of Bvlgari Black. Perhaps this is the men’s version of Black?
If you’re a lady who loves spicy, not very sweet scents (for example Opium by YSL), then try a sample of this. Don’t be put off by all the “alpha-male” talk. It’s easy to wear for a woman.
lexuzz – :
Bond. James Bond. In a leather jacket.
Peppery, spicy opening settles into a sexy leather/tobacco/tonka vibe that’s not too sweet. Stays close to the skin but has decent sillage. I want my man to wear this and Burberry London.
Just buy it, guys.
dimka82 – :
Much more refined than Spicebomb…. a spicy, leathery the light. Perfect for cool weather night out or intimate encounter, oozes class and confidence. An alpha male scent.
Durnoi – :
While shopping for a winter/fall frag to split time with pure havane this year i pulled the trigger on Man in Black and I do not regret my decision at all. At first whiff I get an instant hint of black pepper that goes away real fast like within a minute and then what most others are calling a rum note hits. There is no alchohol harshness so instead of rum I’d say this more closely resembles the creamy cinnamon of horchata this part of the fragrance carries on for quite some time while the leather and wood sneaks in there and gives that creaminess a smooth manly vibe. This is alot more versatile than it’s given credit for u could pull this off in a tux, dates, casual it’s a really well blended good performing scent. Very happy with it.
Update:
Wow I hadn’t worn this scent for a while since it’s currently summer so a couple of nights ago I applied two sprays after a shower just because. And just wow. What a beast! Literally filled my whole house with the scent to the point I got scolded by my girl lol. This stuff is pretty damn beastly and smells amazing. I can’t wait for fall and winter. I’ll be applying this on the back porch from now on though!
BUYVEETIDS – :
First off, I am a bvlgari fan; Extreme,Homme Soir, Man, Man Extreme, Man Black and now, Man in Black. I saw it several times at my favorite fragrance store but I by passed it several times, opting for the later Man Black. However, this is a class act that reeks of sophistication. When i smell it,
I think black tie affair. The spice/ rum/ leather aroma is long lasting and powerful. It draws attention everytime that I use it and the compliments are never ending.Even my girlfriend wears it from time to time!
voprim – :
Sauvage may be what Johnny Depp (supposedly) wears but Man in Black is what you’d expect captain Jack Sparrow to enjoy- swaggering rum, leather and spices but with a slightly feminine/androgynous floral edge.
Despite the potency of that combination on paper its not a room clearer, I find it tends to stay quite close to the skin in terms of performance on me. It lingers on clothes though. It comes off as a winter fragrance but I may try it for cooler summer evenings too.
It’s superficially similar to spicebomb sure, but SBs cinnamon sweetness has a blaring, grating edge to it that I do not like compared to this.
annddrrey – :
It’s pretty much similar to spicebomb, the one note that bothers me is (i think) leather and it’s the only thing that makes it different from spicebomb.
Personally i think Spicebomb is better.
StasH – :
A very rich, but not too sweet, deep woodsy oriental. 1 spray for work in FA/WI.
Resin is up front but soon evolves to the right level…various woods, smells like a great combination of wood lying on a shelf, soon to be crafted, with a spring window open next to them.

Very masculine and it has very strong black pepper note. It makes you feel rich and in the same time as body builder because of it strong spice notes.

Man!! This perfume is a beast!! Sprayed it on my clothes and it lasted for more than 10 hours!! Crazy!!! I went home after work and my mom was standing on the door step smelled me immediately (about 2 feet length).
Price is worth the juice. Had a couple of compliments from it. Tho sometimes other people thinks I’m wearing an Arabian fragrance.. too strong. hehe 😛
stalker2033 – :
Similarity to Spicebomb is very high, though I find Man in Black much less agressive, even comforting. It opens beautifully with tobacco and rum, then slowly develops into calm spicy, leathery scent. Perfect office choice for me. Projection is average. It wraps you in a nice, warm scent bubble for about 4-5 hours. After that it fades a bit, but my girlfriend tells me she can smell it on my skin even after 9-10 hours. I simply love this frag. Perfect autumn-winter-early spring choice.
спринтер сел – :
If you like tobacco & spicy aroma, this will be a good option for you. Actually I think ManInBlack is so sexy that you could wear in everytime.
In my case I just to use it in clubs or dates. Please note this is a heavy aroma so dont overapply because could be annoying.
I would say this perfume is 10/10. Excellent performance, Excellent Aroma (sophisticated) and good price!
lon370InsuffBooni – :
Personally, I like it more than Spicebomb. It is not as strong though
sticker09 – :
For me this is a disappointment in performance department, which really makes it redundant!
The smell is nice spicy warm vanillic with smooth cinammon.
Winter cooler weather type but doesn’t have the projection to cut through cold air.
Black orient on the other hand is a bit more sharp/oud note which works better.
I really wanted to like it more.
Sad face

Side note to my already posted review of this fantastic juice:
Got a sample of Viktor & Rolf – Spicebomb and they smell very similar to me. Havn’t done a side by side comparison, but if I didn’t know it was Spicebomb I would have thought it was MIB.
369 – :
Highly suggested. This is a fragrance more people need to enjoy.
This is a grown up spicebomb that is deeper and just as long lasting. I get 2 hour of heavy prjection and moderate projection for 4 hours or so, until it becomes a skin scent.
You get Tobocco, woods, spices, and it is all well blended. It is the classiest Tobbaco scent I have smelled. This is for going out, or for business parties dressed in your best and knowing you are the best smelling the guy around.
I think this is a mature 25 plus fragrance.
Although I don’t love it personally, I do like it and it fits a needed spot in my collection.
Dambas068 – :
irt477Diobtetty – :
I own both spice bomb and bvlgari & yes it does smell like spice bomb , but it is more wearable & has bit of oud touch to it ( i feel it does).
feels more premium than Spice Bomb , i would say if you have spice bomb avoid buying this and vice versa !
fasjgasjga – :
Bvlgari Man in Black is a scent that I found similar to two scents but still different. This is a grown up and less fruity Spice Bomb and at the same time it is also a less gourmand 1 Million Privé without the smoky muhrr. Two notes that separates Man in Black from the Viktor&Rawlf and Paco Rabbane offerings is the rum note and the slight iris note that isn’t as powdery as other iris notes I’ve smelt.
Man in Black is really a good projecting scent. It isn’t a day scent at all and it is a bit too much for work as well. But I feel it is great for dates, dressed up occasions and even bars. It isn’t club ready, go with Spicebomb for that. That said, it fits in a lot of situations that also 1 Million Privé would so if you have that, this maybe a redundant purchase.
Performance wise I feel it is a little better than 1 Million Privé. I can judge against Spice Bomb as I never tested it. That said, Privé is a little stronger, but both are strong moderate sillage bombs. Longevity wise, Man in Black actually is slightly better also. It gives about 8-9 hours while Privé is lucky to get 8.
Overall Bvlgari Man in Black is really nice. I really do like it but I have to rate it 7.8 like I did 1 Million Privé because they are fairly similar. I have a decant of it right now and with low prices for it, it is really tempting to get a full bottle of it.

This one is a wonder!! I tested it and although the opening felt little dull. The drydown is awesome. From the beginning one could smell the tobacco rum and spices . Very rich scent. Very masculine but sweet at the same time. Its an all rounder and quite versatile. I tested the spicebomb yesterday which also very good. Slightly similar but not that much. I ll give this one a 9.5 over 10. Longevity is also very good and sillage is moderate and leaves a nice trail but not offensive
4lon – :
I honestly don’t see the resemblance to Spicebomb (and I do like both). Respect to those who do, but to me, at least, the difference is quite significant. I would compare them as follows:
Spicebomb:
-Grapefruit
-Cinnamon
-Cloves
-Vanilla
Man in Black:
-Tuberose
-Guaiac wood
-Spiced Rum
-Tonka
Spicebomb is sharp and tangy because of the grapefruit, whereas MIB is rich and creamy because of the tuberose. I would characterize the former as a piquant gourmand reminiscent of baking, and the latter as a woody tobacco scent reminiscent of a drawing room where a gentleman can enjoy a pipe with a glass of scotch.
mezkill – :
I have this sprayed on one wrist and Spicebomb on the either. This is Spicebomb’s older, badass brother. The opening notes of MIB is eerily similar to Spicebomb but after a few minutes turns into a dark, leathery, and seductive fragrance. The smell reminds me of a walking into a speakeasy, wearing a leather jacket and everyone is drinking a cocktail with rum. I love this stuff! Longevity is great (8-10 hours) and the Sillage is perfect. Not too loud but not to soft. The perfect evening fragrance for an alpha male in cooler weather.
denutkin1 – :
Bvlgari man in black is true love if discovered, i sprayed it on my wrist 18 hours ago, and it still had a strong skin presence, sweet subtle spicy, wonderful scent, true love to be discovered once again just as Bvlgari pour homme has always been for many years.

The heart of this powerfully masculine fragrance is paradoxically . . . tuberose! This sensual white flower imparts an unusual, animalic creaminess to the swarthy blend of leather and spices.
Guaiac wood features most prominently in the opening alongside the rum and pepper. The first spray transports you a luxurious chamber filled with the aroma of cocobolo and other exotic hardwoods. Picture the aroma of a very expensive wooden chess set and you get the idea.
This is perfect for the chilling winter months and can be worn under a thick knit sweater without loss of nuance. It particularly calls for elbow patches, if only those would come back into style.

so …i decide to buy this . A set : 100edp,75ml shover gel,75 afther shave,at a good price. I starting to wear it some couple of days ago. What can i say ? Yup,this is the MAN !
First of all, this edp , has a good price, but it`s smell like an expensive one . It s starting with a spicy vibe,a mysteroius vibe ,romantic, that you can wear it only with elegant clothes. After 20 min, it becomes too balsamic, sweet, but for me it`s ok .To buy it ? Hell ya ! `cause it`s having something like Dior DNA ,but more cheap. And yeah : it`s having also a powerfull leather note.
Scent 9/10

Projection 7/10
Versatility : i don t care,like i said,i m wearing this only with elegant clothes.
starkinor – :
I find this fragrance to be wearable for anyone. It is quite “masculine”, but no more than other fragrances for women in that same spicy, woody, leather vein.
I find a lot of similarities between MIB and Dita Von Teese Erotique. Supple leather, smoky woods, just enough spice. Very sensual. Sillage stays close to the body – you won’t knock anyone out with this, they’ll have to lean into you to get a dose of MIB, which is part of the appeal in my opinion. Wish it lasted longer on the skin.
Overall, a solid, sexy scent for everyone.

In my skin Bvlgari Black it´is so awful , i get with 10 sprays only about 3h of longevity and about 30 minutes of projection…WTF Bvlgari do???

A like but not a love. There are others in this category (boozy, tobacco) that I like more. A lot of comparisons to Spicebomb below, but to me it’s closer to Spicebomb Extreme. Still loving this amazing masculine fragrance. Finally wore it for the first time of this fall season after getting repeated requests from the wife to break out Bvlgari Man In Black. I love it so much I purchased a back up bottle last year which is one of only a few times I bought a back up bottle for my collection of nearly 200 fragrances. So that goes to show you what I think of this amazing “autumn in a bottle” fragrance.
It’s spicy like an autumn wreath soaking in rum with a dash of woods, tobacco and leather and perhaps a tad bit of sweetness thrown in to make it yummier for the ladies… these notes work perfectly in a man’s fragrance.
Be warned, if you’re a man that prefers to smell “pretty” that MIB is more alpha than metrosexual. For instance it’s more Vin Diesel than Ryan Seacrest. Yet, it’s not an over the top “get the phuck out of my way” uber-masculine like Fahrenheit or the controversial undisputed king of masculine fragrances — Kouros or its #1 contender Jacques Bogart Pour Homme. MIB somewhere in the middle of masculinity like say, Spicebomb with a big shot of testosterone.
Some ladies here call this unisex but I beg to differ, although as a gentlemen, very much respect their opinion. Spicebomb is the one with a similar composition that is Unisex as well as Eau Baux.. Bvlgair Man in Black is what the name implies… Man, However, I would change the name to “Autumn Man.” That would fit it perfectly.
The longevity is still not the best at about 2 hours. But I solved that with a small 10ml travel atomizer.
Note: As I write this review wearing a few sprays of MIB my wife is looking at me with a big smile. HOME RUN fellas! Try it out guys (and ladies test it for your man). Don’t listen to the negative reviews here from self proclaimed experts. Thank God I didn’t!

not balanced enough. it’s boozy from rum and wood which even echoes oud from ysl m7, but lacks depth.
it’s too orangey. or reddish. that’s the colour association i have from it. but definitely should be some darker color, it’s somehow to bright.
longevity up to 2 hours which is a trademark of bvlgari scents, but not a good one.

I had it and i sold it on ebay after a week or so of use, its nice but too powdery for me. Armani profumo is much better.

A sweet, deep, moderately heavy oriental scent that punches well above its price suggests. If you like spicy tonka/vanilla you’ll like this. It screams fall/winter nights by a fireplace or out with a date at a cozy restaurant.
Bvlgari really did a nice job with this scent. Initially, the first blast smells a bit off/synthetic to my nose, but once that blows off you’re left with a really cozy, sexy cloud.
Longevity is average on my skin (4-6 hours) surprisingly. It performs well for that time but then settles super close and fades.
An 8.0 for me. Worth seeking out, especially at under $40!

Nice, pleasant smell, Mediterannean smell. After 15 mins. of Opening, this scent starts to smell like camoline, herbs and natural spice notes, wich are very dominant, and it will stay like that untill drydown. Not so many change in
