Description

End April 2016, BVLGARI is launching the new flanker Bvlgari Man Black Cologne, “the scent of burning water” by master perfumer Albert Morillas. The new composition plays skillfully on contrasts and provides an unusual blend of intense freshness and oriental sensuality. The fragrance is masculine, sophisticated and fresh.

Unlike its antecedent Bvlgari Man in Black from 2014 which, in its top notes offers intoxicating rum, tobacco and spices, BVLGARI MAN BLACK COLOGNE mixes rum with freshness of greenery and luminous citruses. The essence of the composition is also different; Man in Black version enveloped powdery warmth of iris and intoxicating sweetness of tuberose in leather, while the new versions of the fragrance accentuates luminosity of orange blossom and sweetness of tuberose. Drydown of both fragrance is characterized by warmth of wood and oriental signature, and the new version unites amber, musk and woody notes of sandalwood, unlike the previous, more intense version characteristic by chords of guaiac wood, tonka and benzoin resin.

BVLGARI MAN BLACK COLOGNE is available in characteristic black flacon, just like the previous editions of the collection. It is differed by its metallic silver top part with a relief Bvlgari logo and silver name inscription. The fragrance can be purchased as EAU DE TOILETTE.
The nose behind this fragrance is Alberto Morillas.

This Bvlgari is gorgeous. A perfect mix of citrus notes, rum, amber and floral notes. Winter fragrance that leaves its mark even in warmer climates. After all, Morillas always leaves its mark! GREAT!

A smooth slighty sweet masculine fragrance for the sophisticated man. It’s very well done, its alluring. I choose this over Man In Black. When I first smell this in the air, I knew this was it. I bought this bottle yess. This and Man Extreme are the best besides the original which was a poor performing scent (longevity issues).

Boozy, Sweet, Can be a great summer evening fragrance, if it can last. I got about 4 hours of skin scent today (9/3), Then it was all gone. No trace of me wearing a cologne.
The concetration is EDT, but cologne is the right classification.
The begining is very strong, Rum opening, Amber and Floral. Thats all. I will not drop any more dime on this one, due to poor longevity.
Trying the opening is all i know, before i commited a bottle. No regrets, i can get some wearing. Thankfully bought the smallest bottle I can get.
    – Longevity issue. Sorry BVL

I’m not sure how this is similar to Man in Black other than their name similarity – I suppose they share that nice, boozy note (though opening with a strong citrus in this case), but the other notes make this one much, much closer to original Bvlgari Man, their primary difference being that same boozy citrus accord.
I’m also not sure why some are calling this sweet. I know sweet, I like sweet a lot of the time, and this would only seem sweet when compared to some of the drier stuff out there, like classic tart chypres, leather bombs, or dry summer aquatics. Among its contemporary men’s releases this is actually on the dry side. A little floral help from the tuberose, but not what I’d call sweet – the drydown is slightly powdery but still primarily the woods and aromatics.
For my money, this is still spectacular for the spring/summer – it’s flexible enough for all-day use, formal or casual, but it could also serve very well as the evening, after-work pairing following a daytime application of original Bvlgari Man. It has a touch of Iso-e-super, or something close, that gives the woods that cool, airy lift throughout, most detectable after that nice rum note calms down.
I definitely agree with those who find this most similar to BDC, very close the the EDT once they’ve dried down.

for the fans of man in black, this is wonderful addition in summer.i love the extreme, and this now.it takes out the pepper and leather which were dark, and one can rock this in summer days when its breezy, the rum note mixes wonderfully with citruses and florals like tuebrose and orange blossom, and it performs well on me.will work all year round.reviewed it just a while ago. id recommend this for college and up.can be your signature scent and formal scent. also can be used in spring and autumn, but if you have man in black it may seem familiar on the drydown, great frag none the less.
    8/10

I am profoundly disappointed over this one. Way too feminine by my reckoning… it smells liqueurish / rum along with lot of sweetness impregnated, really sweet-smelling. Overwhelming aroma that’s all I get… I don’t like it at all

i must to try this better. because a summer scent with rum, citruses, amber,TUBEROUSE,benzoin and orange flower could be fantastic. but for the second time I tried it I was not at all given good impressions.

This is a chic dark cologne. Underrated for sure.
Very Elegant for nights out and fits so good if you are dressed up.
It is unusual with the Citrus/rum/ floral combination. Another Original creation from the legendary Alberto Morillas.
    Average longevity and projection.
Dont put high expectations and enjoy it given its cheap online price.

This is described as a cologne but is an EDT in strength ,creamy undertones at the base and very floral in the heart of this fragrance ,the orange blossom is quite musky in this and gives this a good projection for a few hours.
This is a warming and comforting smell, whilst being a scent that has got me compliments for how well it lingers in he air

Don’t let the “Cologne” fool you into thinking this is a weak fragrance. I tested this on the perfume counter and sprayed just 2X on my arm and even after I tried washing it off, it’s still there! I think this would be great for an evening affair or date and its dry down is a bit feminine.

Working at Perfumania you dont usually get to experience many fragrances that are ground breaking or all around pleasant to the nose. While this fragrance may not be too original, i have to say it is quite pleasant. The use of rum doesnt give it a harsh, over powering, boozey aroma but rather gives it a sense of mystique which is smoothed out by the amber. I can see why they call it “The scent of burning water.” However, the performance of this fragrance leaves me with a feeling of discontent. Such a pleasant every day all day fragrance, which i would love for other people to experience as i walk by, has little to no sillage. On my skin it does tend to last the entire 8hr workday but it just doesnt project.
Bottle wise, the flanker is absolutely beautiful, I’m a fan of the locking mechanism on the atomizer for travel. However, you really need to give this atomizer a good squeeze or else you get a straight liquid sniper shot.
For the most part, I bought this fragrance because i love it, and it appears to be just for me if you catch my drift. If you are not absolutely in love with this fragrance then i dont recommend buying it. Especially sense it only comes in a 3.4 oz, 100ml bottle. No regrets on my end though lol

This smells so close to Chanell’s Allure Homme Sport eau extreme with some notes that are slightly different. I would say it’s 80-9p% similar.
One thing to note is that I find Allure homme more powdery (something I enjoy) and eau extreme is more concentrated/projects better.
If you enjoy this scent profile I would recommend trying the Chanel as it is overall better.

A generic fresh fragrance which is ideal for someone new to fragrances..
    I applied 6 heavy sprays
0- 1 hours – 5 inch projection. This fragrance is very generic and it does not have any distinct citrus notes. I think it will appeal to the masses, and I can see the younger generation liking this.
1 hours – 4 hours – 2 inch projection. Same fragrance with hints of smokiness coming in. Its a decent, casual day time, outdoors fragrance for spring.
4 hours – 11 hours. Close to skin.
Safe bet as a present for someone
    Not for me

When I first put it on I liked it – the initial application and air burst is quite pleasant. Be warned though this particular scent quickly overpowers your nose on initial application so don’t overdo it!
After half an hour your nose calms down and you will detect it quite frequently – if you put it on your arms for example every time your move your arms about you will be presented with it.
After about 3-4 hours I could still detect it but it moves to more of within arms length at this point and it starts to take on an old musky tinge.
Unfortunately though for me – 4 different women asked me to keep my distance as they found the scent repugnant and reminded all of them of the trademark scent of “old women”!!!
I’m going to put that down to the Iris – which is predominant in most “old lady” perfumes I have smelled.
aaah well – not a winner then unless you’re old and want to attract the other ladies in the old folks home!

A lighter version of MIB suitable for fall and spring, with the addition of light citrus, well blended and very pleasant. Moderate longevity and moderate projection. Well done Bvlgari!

After an hour or two the sillage is down close to the skin. The base notes that remain are tremendously seductive and warm but can only be smelt when someone is close or hugs you. It’s a powerful fresh citrus, woody, earthy with a hit of rum sent. Just wish it was stronger and longer lasting. Hopefully they will make this in a perfume based version. This fragrance is for “close contact”. It’s an intimate scent.

This is man in black with energitic beginning. Man in black is disappointing at the beginning, too greasy. But Dry down of this scent is great, like man in black,

Clean, crisp and invigorating. Especially great for the active and energetic gents out there. Fresh twist on an ‘oriental’ fragrance.

Nice scent, dark notes you feel while smelling and then citrus note hit you, relief brain with pain, relaxing, it will be a top seller in future. Here we have price problem, otherwise i buy it right away.

This smells a lot like Armani Mania. Try it. It would be really smashing if it lasted long but it doesn’t last long on the skin. Best to spray on your shirt too. But all in all it’s another blockbuster from BVLGARI.

As a fan of Bvlgari i had to blindbuy this
and i am glad i did, i really like it, one of
the best designer fragrances this year so
far in my opinion, smells like quality fresh and spicy.

A Completely Unique and different Scent from Bvlgari Man Collection. Citrus is the Main Note but refreshing. Drydown is Manly good when its mixed with your sweat.

    First impressions:
A strong presence of the DNA of the man in black, especially that lovely rum note. Seems like a watered down and less spicy man in black, a bit more fresh too, I have the “original” so I don’t see the point of having this one. I did quite like it, if you like the smell of man in black but find it too strong you will like this one, but I still prefer man in black.

I tested this today and i like it. That Rum note from the original blended with some green and citrusy notes, but with a strong sandalwood, makes it stand out from his precessors but not groundbreaking. Anyway, a very woody and boozy scent.

BVL MANblack is a magmatic powerful fragance, deep but solid, arid and dusty at the same time, wood in strong tune but subtle and friendly at the end.
With Cologne, you can identify that ideas in a luminous appealing way. Very comfortable and easy but at the same time inviting… you can identify the classic tea note in bvl, some florals tune mixed with aromatic spices and a subtle powdery touch at the end making this version engaging than the original bvl _MAN_
Of course its not so deep like black but thats the idea, a diferent side in the brightness aura.

I’m not a fan of the MAN line at all the original and Extreme are not to my tastes and although I did like Man in Black, never found it compelling enough to add to my collection. Strangely, I do kinda like this one, it’s a wearable scent. Black cologne is sort of an emalgumation of the two ideas, warm, amber like oriental and fresh, spicy, citrus with even a hint of salty, aquatic qualities. I was concerned about how the white florals would feature in this fragrance alongside amber but in truth although present isn’t really typical smelling. This is a surprisingly spicy fragrance, the base is deep and warm and the citrus top notes last quite a while, it’s good and the performance is okay too.

I have just sampled this. I am not impressed.
They tried to be loyal to the original MiB when they created this and they ignored that creatively it just doesn’t work. If the rum and the sweetness would be toned down this could have been a great boozy summer fragrance. Instead this is just a watered down MiB without spices and some hollow citrus accords. The use of neroli and citruses is very shy. It feels they were afraid to divert too much from the original.
If you are looking for a well executed summer fragrance with rum skip this and go for Sean John’s Unforgivable !!

This isn’t a ‘lighter’ man in black. Not at all. It’s a citrus floral with a light spice. Like the original man, the opening is a noisy bouquet of notes that settles very quickly into something just above a skin scent. A little disappointing in that respect; however, it’s a tester strip sample, so longevity and projection may vary a little based on skin type. To my mind, it’s slightly brighter YSL L’homme. The orange blossom is the dominant note in this frag, and it’s projecting through well after a few hours.

this and ‘a fantastic scent very masculine .. not’ a cologne for me .Dont expect a typical fresh citrus cologne .. It is fresh but less fresh of extreme version .
I like it very much but the name is wrong for me iIs not a cologne!!!! it is a ligther version of the original men in black with same changes…. Very good…
